Song Mode! This tool saved and actually dominated a project I was working on with an artist. I knew of it, from using the chain mode, but not until I was sync'ing around 8 unique patterns to a real DAW based project, each pattern corresponding to the complex song. A1, the intro A2, the transition to the first verse, A3, the first verse, etc. The MOST IMPORTANT feature was that the DAW measure position marker followed perfectly! We needed to overdub Performance macro sweeps deep into the 70th measure of the song, and I was shocked to find the song mode seamlessly snapped to the 70th measure in the song's structure within the RYTM, according to the "x1/x2/x3" pattern repeats we programmed in on the fly. So yes, this machine, so close to being sold due to the Kit/pattern wedding, which the Digitakt is free from. But then, it always comes back to save the day, dominating over all other bass sources I demo. I run the analog outs into a pair of 1073's by Rupert Neve, instead of the Overbridge, and it just envelops perfectly every mix I make. Thanks for doing this video. Huge fan.
@@randalb7930 Ahh yes... Thank you Randal.I did see your first reply, and I thank you for your time and response... Looking at Pre amps today... First on Reverb, see what is out there...
Can't wait to get my hands on one of these, however, I am thankful that what you showed here in the kick and rumble can be replicated in the Digitakt. I will make due with that and enjoy the sound where I can make it. TYSM for this tutorial, you made it very simple to follow and learn.
This is an invaluable lesson. It teaches so many general aspects such as workflow, mixing, performance macros. Thanks for your patience in producing such a seamless tutorial !!
Regarding that LFO part at like 3:20, I love Rytm's HOLD mode for things like that! Give it a slow sine or triangle and it sounds random without big jumps of sample and hold wave. Also, hell yeah, PLEASE do a song mode tutorial! I'd love to see your approach🙌✌️
Love the Rytm videos. The more the better 😃 would really love you pairing the rytm with the A4 or another standalone synth like the sub37 or mother 32 if you have one of those. Or even the minilogue which I’m pretty sure you have. I’ve only been watching your channel for a month or so but you’ve quickly become one of my favourite synth channels.
Sounds great what you're doing there. Have you ever tried to use the velocity modulation menu instead of blaming that there is only 1 LFO? 🙂With velocity mod you can dial in keyboard tracking for the filter, you can play with amp decay to create various but consistent lengths, you can also do the same thing with delay/reverb sends, and of course you can limit the range of the velocity to volume! VELOCITY MOD gives access to a menu where up to four PARAMETER page parameters can be assigned to the velocity mod parameter.
Another fantastic video. You’re fast becoming one of my favourite channels. I wish I had not sold my Rytm. They since added midi for external instruments to it. That was sorely missing for me at the time. Also the single lfo on each instrument I found annoying. If they added another lfo I’d buy another in a heartbeat. Current,y have a Syntakt so a lot of this carries over. I like a lot of all the small bits of info. It all adds up.
Wonderful tutorial on the Rytm! I love mine and it blows away more expensive machines like the Perkons and on par with modular drums. I plan to use mine with my dark trilogy of Elektrons like Octatrack and Analog 4! Look forward to more tips from you.
Hi! You don't need go to perform to select what performance macros you want to use. Only with press QPER and hold it, you can view your performances and select it
A tip for Rytm kicks, don't use the pitch sweep time parameter to control, & add the pitch env shape of the pitch down attack part of ya kicks... U can create a more accurate tuning & speed of a pitch env attack, by using the lfo ramp or saw shape in one or half trigger modes. This also works just on the pitch, instead of the sweep time parameter... In any of the other elektrons for kick drum shaping, &/or other suitable drum percussion sounds to try on too. I learnt this years before I had Elektrons on all the drum machine sides of Electribes... Elektrons are much better at it 4 sure tho.
This video reminds me why I sold my analog keys. It was all so frustrating with the menus and tiny screen. This sounds cool of course, but also crazy how long it takes just to make a simple beat.
I've been looking for this video for two years. Anyone ever tell you how much you look like Ricky Tinez? Just kidding. I will be watching holes in this thing, please make more!
Really cool watching you work on the RYTM. It’s obvious that you really know your way around this piece of kit. The hi-hat issue you mentioned is a big reason I don’t own it already. Hats are very important to the way I structure percussion. Would love to own it, but I can’t imagine fighting with the hi-hats.
Thank you for your kind words! Hats! I often forget that Rytm is also a sampler and you can layer samples with synth on one track. And this is how you can make great hats on it 😊
I can recommend loading some transient samples (Clicks, noise etc) to layer with the Kickdrums:) When you merge both together in the same Engine, you get really nice results. I do this with my field recordings and was really able to get "personal" kick:D
Love this video. If you're looking for future suggestions, I would really, really love to have an in-depth video on the performance tools available in Rytm. The manual is terrible at explaining any of this.
Thanks Dan! When it comes to performance tools Rytm has plenty on board. I guess manual is explaining how these tools work, but doesn't give a strategy to use. Let me think if I can put something together about it.
You're back? So cool! More rytm content please! Do you use it mainly as drummachine or do you use it as groovebox doing leads and pads etc on it too? Cheers!
Really like your videos. How do you record your finished tracks? Do you publish them on e.g SoundCloud? Last question for techno production in all varieties ….which Elektron device is probably most complete? Cheers
Hey Philipp! Thanks for watching! I record my tracks into a DAW in a number of different ways. Very hard to say which one exactly it is. For publishing to be honest I don't have any room in my brain to do so. Neither I see much value from this now. I publish on UA-cam and that's what I like doing! I think in the future I will publish more outside of UA-cam. Which Elektron device is most complete? The answer is neither. It all really depends on the context and the goals that you have. For my personal taste I think it is the Analog Rytm. It is great for studio and quite powerful or even outstanding for live performance.
I finally purchased my Analog Rytm today and I’m so lost 😂. This one’s going to take some time.
I've always liked the look and sound of the Rytm and would like to see more of these videos.
Hi Ihor, nice to see you do an item on the Analog Rytm. Yes please, cover Analog Rytm song mode next. Would be grand!

Thank you for kind words. It seems like the Rytm fits very well into your setup!
Which 1073 units are you using. Very curious. I am looking to add similar preamps. Upgrading my studio...

🎉
Great Tipps! I will try it on my Elektron
Song mode together with the Analog four and MIDI synced scene changes is 🔥
Also adding an expression pedal for extra performance is great
I completely forgot about the expression pedal input on the rytm!
Love your familiarity and approach to the Rytm work flow. Please make more?

make a video on pounding tekno using song mode please! top notch tutorials! make more tutorials on rytm or on analog four please!

Man thanks for all the love latley. We were really missing you for awhile. Thanks for all the great content past and present.
Thank you so much for such kind words. They mean a lot.❤
Rytm-Noob happy.. Thanks Ihor!

Thank you for your feedback! It means a lot!
You are so clear and pedagogical.
More rhytm please this drummachine is dope 😎💪
Hey ! Indeed : talking about song mode would be great !
thank you! i use my rytm almost everyday and videos like this make me realize how much potential the unit still has in my workflow

Thank you for the Rytm videos! Please make more.
I recently got my hands on a MKI and am really enjoying it - some of the performance options are very cool, the MKII takes this even further
Your "from Scratch" Videos are really great. The Rytm is a great Machine with so many possibilities...
Super!!!
Thanks a lot
This channel is so underrated! 🔥
Thanks for the tip with the master length always forgot about that
I really like how you always explain your process, keep it up
Thanks!
oh this is so Transcendence...the best

great stuff, a;ways pertinent
Особая благодарность за Analog Rytm!
Thank you for Rytm video!! LOVE your beat from scratch vids. Great to see you back!!!
100% subscribed!

Man *great* rhythm there muchacho! At first I thought it’d be too fast to be ‘hypnotic’, but now I see what you mean! 👍😎
Great video Ihor, Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I would absolutely love to see a video on song mode.
Excelent video!

LMAO "slappy". Yes, please do more Rytm videos!
and songmode, yesss!!!
One of the better standalone playgrounds and pairs well with modular I think. Great video as usual my man.
Thanks man!
thanx a lot
nice work
Thanks for another Rytm video! Been looking forward to that =)
This was an awesome tutorial! Thankyou so much for sharing your knowledge and approach. What a track! 🤩
would love to learn more about the rytm! even the song modee
Thank you for the video, Ihor! This track has some serious vibes.
More effortless music and instruction dude. Appreciate the time you take to do this.
Please do the Song mode thing! 🙏 :)
Yeah, man. A video on song mode would be great!
Big thank you! I really needed those tricks for my workflow :)
Hey. If you do talk about song mode, the main thing I'd want to hear about is *why* one pattern wants to follow another. How should this song develop?
yes, agree :)
Very inspiring, thanks! Love the end result!
great video. thr rytm is so deep - love the way you sequenced the synth line
Great video, clear and inspiring, well done!
Thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial Ihor! I hope all is well!

Thank you!

I am quite on the opposite side here. I think it is fast, simple and immediate. Small screen isn't an issue for me. Rather a benefit.
Hey Igor ! Nice tutorial man, you make it look really easy 😅
Thank you very much for these very inspiring rytm2 tutorials
Glad you liked them!
Love this! Thanks brother!
Thank you!
so good -- I love your music and you're excellent at demonstrating the process. much love to you брат ❤️ 💙 💛 ❤️
Спасибо брат!
This was fun. I followed along on a Digitakt + A4 and got surprisingly close.
Nice!!!
Well now I know how to get 8 bars out of an Elektron sequencer. lol. Thanks Ihor! \m/
i don't have RYTM but Ihor is boss, good advice for production all around, cheers!
MACRO! That's what Roland SHOULD have added to the TR8s (and tr6s) on the master efx knob...
Yeah! Macros are so useful on the Rytm!
Brilliant !!
Would love to see a video on the song mode from you!
Yes!! !!,! ! So amazing thxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Ihor, super great video!!! the samples (sounds) you used, are they all 'stock' samples, available in the factory settings?
I think all the sounds I used were from the factory presets
Just searched your soundcloud profile for the track - didn't found it - would be nice if you load it up for us to listen more to your awesome work!
Noted! Thanks for feedback.
do the song mode video!!
thank you,, please cover song mode
