This part that connects the steering shaft to the steering linkages can wear out and get loose or clunky too! This video shows you how to install a new idler arm. And, if you have to replace the idler arm in your vehicle, odds are, you’ll need to replace the bracket too. Best to get them both done at the same time! This video shows you how to install a new idler arm and bracket in your 1988-2002 GMC K1500.

1988-1992 Do not have an idler arm like this. They also have different power steering and brake systems.

According to A-1Auto's own website, the part they show in the video and that they link to is not the right part for the 92 pickup. This guy is doing an '89. Should be the same on an '89-'92. ua-cam.com/video/FiO7ixGAbPM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Seal-N-ShineDetailing

My only problem is I really need a pickle fork I have tried everything from ball joint puller‘s to tire rod pullers none of those pullers work you have got to have a pickle fork. I got one coming in the mail now but I don’t have an air hammer soo I’m gonna have to do some swinging with the sledgehammer

Is the idler arm and bracket located on the passenger side of the truck?

+Jason Campbell generally the idler arm is attached between the opposite side of the center link and pitman arm and the frame.

Great video! But first, save a ton of money, build a large garage, install vehicle lift then proceed to this video...

The 2wd trucks are terrible they have a frame bulge that doesn't allow you to pull the arms without removing the stupid idler bracket. I would assume it's either stupidity or something to do with steering protecting during a crash.
