Ben's face as the technician was explaining how his new differential system works when compared to his old one is the same face my girlfriend makes when I talk about anything car related.
My wife does it with my hobbies too. Lol. It's wild how everyone's minds are wired so differently.
Lol. Remember tall ben southern accent. That is how short ben face looks like
Long face ben is more chinned up than short face Ben.
Kinda wish we could see a full cut explanation bc I’m honestly really interested to hear it
@@Pman8362 agreed. That's my jam
The amount of machining these guys do by hand blows my mind every time they’re featured on your channel. And just the insane amount of knowledge. I can’t imagine being that good at something like that.
Fine machining by hand? These guys do absolutely none of that.
@@Austin-Afridi well “trimming” gears by hand doesn’t seem like the easiest thing to do or at least very unforgiving
I agree. That is something that not only commands knowledge, but also experience.
Taking burs off isnt fine machining
Watching guys like this at work makes me feel justified in taking my car to a specialist every time something needs fixing. I'd never be as good in my lifetime. They just have so much experience
The one notable benefit of having crappy or average tires is knowing you probably won't shatter your driveline. Rob Dahm's old videos of his 3-rotor come to mind. I vividly remember when he snapped the output shaft of his transmission in two.
Good point. That seems so elementary, yet its never even occurred to me.
Drag racing scene takes that into mind, tire types matter. Bias ply for the manual trans folks, and radials for the torque converters
He has been blowing those carbon drivelines left and right lately too actually.
@@exerosis5758 Because he had them over articulated to the max angle. He measured improperly the first time, but made them work. He just got the new corrected shafts recently, and they fit so much better. Hasn't damaged one of those yet. Knock on wood haha 😄
@@bewareofmountainlions4429 might not quite be out yet but he has damaged 2 recently
Interesting build on the explorer diff. He put a lot more detail work into it than most do.
The wing needs to go
@@dms9289 why? It has a purpose.

When I saw the title, I was hoping for something wild. Coyote.. but this is a sensible upgrade.
I think we all assumed the same thing. Honestly it would be more interesting than another LS swapped Mazda.
Nah I knew right away. Only good thing on a ford is a 9 inch rear end
Same 🤣
Coyote exactly
My first thought was literally fords 9inch
You guys are getting so good at the "car stuff" that I sometimes forget that your excellence is actually at filming/producing. Amazing as always.
My rear differential holds 10 strippers
Guys.. that dif assembly montage was phenomenal! World class.. Great buttery depth of field, incredibly lighting and the music was perfect! Really amazing work.. Thank you!
came here to say this. 💯
Yes
Glad you guys enjoyed it!
4:43 the guy shooting you with the electric impact was the most relatable thing I’ve seen all year
The machining is just plain art. Genuinely a fine craft built with meticulous detail, knowledge, and love. Incredible.
😆 Classic Jon at Team Rip, always overexplaining even on yes/no questions! Lol Love it. Such an immense wealth of knowledge in that guy. TRE always goes the extra mile for their customers. 👏
This has to be a good chunk of the reason that cars are just so amazing. The extensive knowledge gathered by certain people is just so mind blowing! I know I'll never be able to remember all of what people around me know, but I hope one day I'll be able to have my own knowledge comparable.
Ben I just wanted to say this has to be the most Puerto Rican thing I have seen in my life like us Puerto Ricans We LOVEE HONDAS and We LOVEEE MAZDAS especially those rotary’s and for you to come and put them together it’s just screams PUERTO RICOOO
Video quality and editing = 10. Well done Luke!
Luke didn’t edit this lol
@@PrestonJames333 Who did?
@@baxrok2. I did haha, I’m their new editor
@@PrestonJames333 Ah, the new editor. Well then, good job Preston!
@@baxrok2. Thank you bro! I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was really fun to make, the new few parts are cool too ;)
Hey G&G team, thank you for always being consistent with the upload time, It's 10:30pm rn at Manila, Philippines. Setted an alarm at around 10pm and just right when G&G upload notif pops up!
You guys were awesome! Loving this channel since 2019 after the Evo 9 Mr 14 min detailing 💪🏼
Music is on point🎉
Whoever is behind the camera and editing these videos, needs a raise right now. Those shots of him blasting and putting together the diff with the music, was so peaceful to watch.
18:30 long video, but feels like 5 minutes. Damn...
So enjoyable to watch from beginning to the end.
Thanks for the effort guys.
That diff is ARTWORK!
You should look up what the Eaton wants for oil. 75w-140 will wear faster. The marking on the back is for the stock diff.
The stock FD (also RX8) rear differential is an 8" and not that weak. Had the stock FD difd with a 430rwhp LS swap and current a LS swapped RX8. No problems.
Yea I agree, seems like bigger is better mentality here which is not often the case.
Great vid as always, my fav content from you guys. Love watching the artisans just work.
This is gonna be a great build evolution. Love to see it.
Not even Discovery can purchase this level of detail, video quality and honest video production. Keep it up guys..
You guys keep raising the bar with your filming. It's not easy to make something dry like building a diff entertaining, but the shots are eye candy. Really nice lighting. Starting with the end and telling the story backwards also helps with engagement.
Loved the vibe of this video. Music was great. Thank you for giving us another amazing video
This has become one of my favorite car related channels. For years I was a hater, I have seen the light that the Ben's shine down upon us & I am grateful.
Honestly though, awesome content all around.
I figured there'd be some engine modifications as well. (:
That differential is a work of art. It came out looking so beautiful. I am excited to see what kind of power you all make and the new diff taking said power.
I had an EVO transfer case done by TRE, and spoke with John on the phone a couple times. He's so knowledgeable that unless you're taking notes, conversations with him can feel the way this video represented. Haha. I asked about what fluid to run and got a full breakdown of about 10 different fluids. Awesome, knowledgeable people there at TRE
Great video y’all. I can’t remember the last time I saw such care put into a diff.
i chuckled when the cat pounced on him, it's only fair he gets some of the attention
Your videos feature shops (TRE, Ronnie, ASM) are videography perfection. Also, all your race driver features ( Jackie Ding, KS tuned, Vibrant) are so amazing and sorely missed.
Big props on the cinematography and music selection! That was a very entertaining video.
Saturday morning coffee while watching G&G, living the Dream 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm excited too. I can't wait to see how it comes put.
what an amazing build sequence during the casing strip down. amazing edit and camera work.
The attention to detail the guys at TRE perform is incredible
Beautiful build montage as usual
Gotta respect a man who has a shop cat. Hell yeah!
Interesting build on the explorer diff.
Love videos like this, awesome work fellas!!
Always impressed w the knowledge the guy at t.r.e. shares, a true master 🙏
I did the Ronin Speed Works 8.8 IRS diff in my Turbo LS FD wayyyy back in the day. It was the single best mod I did to the car. I BEAT THE HECK out of the car on the street and at the track, and never had a single issue with 700hp/torque! Great vid guys. Great upgrade! I always wanted a turbo K swap FD!
Really enjoyed the filming and editing of this video!
Great video! I work at Moser Engineering who specializes in building rear ends and axles and the 8.8 is the common way to go for a build like that. The one thing I would say from experience, the Truetrac recommends running non-synthetic fluids however they’ve tested synthetic oil and mentioned it works however they don’t recommend. Also a friction modifier in a gear driven unit is also not recommended (by Truetrac) because they decrease performance because it reduces differential bias. Just a friendly heads up, keep up the great videos!
Perfect timing, I have been looking into the same dif into my Exocet
Blizzaks are amazing in the snow. I love those tires
A computer will never replace a skilled man like ur friends from Michigan and Wiscodisco.
Great video! The music starting at 11:54 is sick..
Another day with a new G&G episode is another good day.
Good luck, plenty LS guys still have vibration issues after the swap as well. I definitely did.
Gorgeous machine! 😍
I really enjoyed this video. I always find seeing how stuff works internally, fascinating. Specially all the little parts in cars we never think about that actually does alot!
I'm Canadian, I will send you Coffee Crisps for the next 10 years for that car.
Really into this upgrade.
Those gears look BUTTERY
These dudes are truly amazing craftsmen. They make it look stock and im sure that it was last longer than any stock part!
That's Built Tough right there!
I just did this to my Rx7 over the winter, Ford 8.8, 3.73 gears, Ronin Speedworks Kit, and Wavetrac LSD. I’m loving it, took me a bit longer than 5 days, but turned out great, and building the axles was my least favorite part. I’ve got a Mazda, LS3 (Chevy), and Ford. LOL
Man always been a fan but past few episodes are knocking it out of the park
Always solid content guys, any chance of some longer format stuff every now and then.
The Sundance track came clutch with the diff assembly montage
You are rapidly approaching me levels of OEM pick&mix
Watching him die grind AFTER installing the bearings made my feel physically I’ll. Like WTF dude 😮
I'll appreciate if Ben could post the full explanation of the diff
always a fan of rx7 excited forvthe build
Both of these garages have such great people
The music selection for the rear assembly 🤌🏾
rx7 content is my favorite content :D
Wish you would have let the diff guru give more explanation as to how the gears in the diff worked and it’s pros/cons
Once I am done with the single turbo supra, i will get these guys to work on my rear diff! the work they put out to the rx7 is crazy!
That DB1 in the background!
Such good music in the videos
This editing is amazing 😭
Love the RX7, but can we also get more Honda Fit content?
the sound if that rx7 is pure music
Nice! I need to get up to ASM for my YS1 trans rebuild.
You guys are awesome
I appreciate the Vulfpeck-esque instrumental at 9:00 mark.
The music in this episode Slaps
Never seen a rear diff rebuild this amazing
I could watch those guys detail gears allllllll day long
What a beauty!
First of all Ben you did the burnout on a wet street and the other Ben actually dropped the clutch on the RX7 and snapped the rear diff on a dry street plus you rolled into your burnout totally different homie !
I need to see an episode or two on that Acura I saw at the beginning very nice
I know this is for entertainment purposes mostly, but I’d like to hear the technical talk about the pros and cons of clutch and gear type LSD.
Maybe leave the conversation at the end of the video?
andy's reaction was smooth
I actually would have loved to see the unclipped version about the diff
I used a Nissan Frontier rear diff. It's been in the car for 5 yrs on a 370z. The only performance upgrade. It should have came out the box with this diff
Some questions to Aaron:
-how does sharp corners make you feel?
-how much joy do you get when seeing a rotary tool with a diamond or carbide bit?
-is there anything that gives you more joy than the word chamfer?
❤️❤️❤️ PRODUCTION ❤️❤️❤️ HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SATURDAY EVERYONE ✌️
im 99% sure this is a scam, account was created less than a week ago, I also go this reply. I sent them a message but if they ask for any personal info its 100% scam
Notification Squad Have a nice weekend!🔥🔥🔥
Transition at 1:35 is gold
9:38 literally me during college
I wish you had brought this car for the car show at VIR this weekend!!! I've really wanted to check this one out.
one of the greatest advantages of a helical style diff is they act like an open diff in the middle of the corner which gives great rotation characteristics. down side, if you left a wheel off the ground it will act like an open diff again
Hardest introo 😎💨
"Size matters guys," says the one referred to by some as Short Ben.
The Ford 8.8 rear diff is popular with the BMW guys, as well. Actually thinking of putting one in my E46.
Doing this to my s2000, interesting that this swap is going everywhere now.
Learned something new I didn’t know there were clutch packs in differentials
