  • This video takes a look at the Tesla Cybertruck Mars Edition. Something that Elon Musk has tweeted about - saying that the Cybertruck will be the official truck for Mars.
In this mini documentary video, we take a look at the science and space technology behind turning the Cybertruck into a Mars vehicle (exterior and interior), and how the Cybertruck could be used for a future Mars city and human civilisation base. We also break down how it is being made on Earth at the Giga Texas, Elon Musk's Mars plan, and the links between SpaceX's Starship and the Cybertruck.
Other topics covered in this video include:
    • How SpaceX and the space industry have already used a Tesla Model X to transport astronauts in their space suits to their launch pad
    • Options for astronauts to drive around on Mars (self driving, or on the Cybertruck ATV)
    • Could the Cybertruck be part of the Mars space business, self driving on a Mars city of the future
    • When could we see the Cybertruck on Mars - will it be taken on the 2024 Mars Mission to help with transporting equipment and materials around Mars

The front should have a grill/bumper on double shock absorbers to act as an active bumper cushion that can actively absorb really tough bumps and collisions without the normal finder-bender damage and repair costs. Like a police cattle grill for pushing vehicles and withstanding collisions of less that critical varieties. I'd want it on all, sides, in fact. So for example, a typical low-speed rear-end collision that would normally cost a couple thousand dollars of repairs would cause no damage what ever. Imagine an active/passive collision prevention system. Imagine no more fender-benders!

I'm thinking of doing a overlay of Marcel duchamp's a nude descending the staircase since it was so shocking to the art world and it's time when it was released, much like the Cyber truck and current automotive design principles. I'll refer to the truck as the Duchamp special.

If Tesla partners with Apple for battery tech, it's going to be a historic unprecedented success.

Nice work. The astronauts can live quite happily at half an atmosphere pressure. IMHO There will be no road-surfacing materials on mars, such as tars bitumen or cement, and temperatures are too low for rubber tyres (see rover pictures) so local transport on mars in the early days are likely to be in very slow rovers, or underground (Boring company TBMs), or on cobbles, or on steel rails if steel is made available.

Making a Mars e-bike isn't rocket science. All you need is a heat pack for the batteries.
Almost all the other problems can be solved by storing it inside, and not riding it the dead of winter at night, for any significant distance. And at the moment I'm thinking 3D printed plasticized tread, over a wire mesh tire. It's not a rover it doesn't have to survive without maintenance or expendables. It's a bicycle, they're fundamentally high maintenance to begin with, but there's so few parts it takes little effort to do that maintenance.
      Edit: typos.

Your electric bike, with all its bad weather warning signs, may make it to be tested on the moon first where conditions are even more severe than on mars, and if the astronauts are happy with its performance then it will go to mars. NASA will make the call.
I’m pretty certain the first few electric bikes to go to mars will be ALL WEATHER types because there will be no repair shops and the “prospectors” will need the most reliable tools and equipment.

This will not happen. I really like what SpaceX is doing but this is just PR and marketing for the cyber truck.
1:28 "100x more pressure" means nothing. The absolute difference is important. For the pressure vessel 10,100psi internal and 10,000psi external pressure is exactly the same as 100psi internal and 0psi external, even though the former is just 0.01 times more pressure while the latter is "infinitely times" more pressure. The absolute pressure difference on Mars would be about 10psi. So please don't be so sensationalistic.
Additionally pressure vessels don't like sharp corners at all. Those would be areas of high stress. You would want smooth transitions from one surface to the next. Same for the window frame and door cutouts. Just have a look at aircraft and spacecraft. No sharp corners there. Now look at the cyber truck. Sharp corners everywhere.
1:42 Using stainless steal Doesn't mean anything. Even if it's similar to what is used on star ship. This isn't the only factor that qualifies a good pressure vessel. Again, aircraft and spacecraft are made out of Aluminium and keep the pressure quite well. You don't need 3mm cold rolled steal. A soda can is just 0.1mm thick Aluminium and can hold 100psi.
2:22 A seal on the door is not enough. They need to be reinforced, especially the latching mechanism. Let's assume each door has a surface area of 1m² and the differential pressure is 10psi. This would result in a force of 15,500 pounds on that door. You need some serious latches and a very capable door frame to take these loads.
2:37 As far as I'm aware the SpaceX space suits don't have an oxygen supply and are not suited for EVA, so this would not be an alternative solution. The car would need to provide oxygen either way. Just supplying coolant like the Model X did on launch day is not enough.
3:00 These sensors are of no help on Mars as there are no roads. Tesla autopilot relies on lane markings, road signs, other vehicles etc. Try using the Tesla autopilot off road avoiding pits, trenches, rocks and other debris. Won't work.
The rest of the video is basically just a commercial ad for Tesla Cyber Truck.
Sorry, but this video is just bad, wishful thinking and praising the Cyber Truck

Whatever psycho thought that design suits a fashionable luxury electric car should be fired.
