Joying support is pretty good send then an email with a picture of you current head unit version (somewhere in settings) and they'll email you a link for the latest firmware/update. I had one in my WRX and it was overall great. Yes i understand your annoyances and there can be work around for most. I actually preferred using the amplifier output to the digital as at the time i didn't have a conductor.
Wonderful video, have you checked the RAM utilization when the unit stutters? My Android unit would hiccup as the memory utilization would be high. I eventually decided to have my unit reboot on startup, freeing memory. Granted boot time was a few seconds longer but performance has been steady.
My older Android 10 based Joying natively accepts resistance based steering wheel control signals. If your vehicle's steering wheel controls are analog, you should be able to wire it up without an adapter. If your steering wheel buttons are digital, then you would need an adapter. It's great being able to do things like play pause or skip to the next track from the steering wheel. I also use the up-down volume so I can pretty much operate my unit strictly from the steering wheel.
Need to connect the reverse wire on the loom, if your car had a OEM back up camera the wire may be behind the head unit, if it didn't, you should try to find a wiring diagram for your vehicle. Locate the reverse switch on the transmission and trace it back. You can usually find a spot in its route back to the ECU that's convenient enough to splice in for the head unit. Make sure to test it with test leads before you cut anything😁
For the stuttering, if it's CPU related, there is a system setting for CPU performance which might be worth trying. Default it's on "low" performance. Could the DTS be using a compression algorithm for virtual spatial positioning? Edit: I see in the end you used the CPU setting already. I only have very minor stutters on smooth, so it could still be smoother, I might try monitoring CPU processes to see what's hogging it.
Just got the head unit last week, my only huge complaint is the Bluetooth audio stutters occasionally as well. Noticed it doesn’t have when I am on a wired connection. Drives me nuts. Please let me know if u find a solution
For two weeks now i have also installed a Joying radio in my BMW E91. It replaced a Zenec radio which had strong background noise/interference. I specifically choose the version with a physical volume control on my radio because i suspected that volume controlling on the display would not be practical. Splitscreen works simply for me because there is an icon in the top right of the display and the rear camera works automatically as soon as i put the car into reverse. In general, i'm happy with it so far. There are countless setting options. But one thing bothers me, i only listen to music from a usb-stick. When i start the radio there is only one song in my music folder and it takes several minutes until all the songs are loaded and displayed :/
Same here, it takes a minute or two for the HU to read the USB stick. I would imagine a better option would be to have your songs in the internal memory.
That doesn't seem crazy to me at all. The whole point of the digital output is to feed it into a DSP. Maybe this is the reason the digital output is so clean?
This is gonna sound weird. But I saw you flip the conductor knob w your thumb. Just a heads up, conductor (and director) wear out super quick if you’re not careful. My first only lasted a year. So now I use a finger and thumb to be careful turning as much as I can remember too. And they charge like $200 for these crappy knobs. 😂

I have a Joying and I have had it for over 2 years now. It has had none of the issues you're having and all internal EQ and dsp functions will affect optical or digital coax out. There is either something wrong with your unit or you need to work on the settings. Mine has a perfectly flat response via either Optical or Digital Coax. You need to contact Joying and they will help.
@@RAW-CAta lot of times that's true, but in this case tell me a single head unit as good as the Sony and a lot cheapper ! Needs to have the same features: hi res player, ldac, really good signal etc. I looked and didn't find anything close. Maybe the Alpine Halo 11, but some guys told me that the Sony is alot better.

Yes, it needs to have that 12-volt signal to know when to switch.

Thank you for the review! Is the SPDIF Coax bit perfect or does it go through the Android 48 kHz resampling?
Everything in this HU is limited to 48kHz.
@@RAW-CAt Thanks for the prompt answer
You can bypass the android limitations with USB Audio Player Pro. Same thing you would use with an android phone.

I think you need to keep the DTS "ON" inorder to get any of the other sound settings.
Thats crazy. The EQ doesn't affect the sound when using digital.. my Atoto S8 Pro allows me to adjust.

Yeah, heard that, we will see how much mine will last.
On my iDoing stuttering happened on coax (I used it as alternative input for measures), but it never happens on optical SPDIF. Maybe try that?
Yes, worth a try, just need a long enough optical cable..
It seems insane that the EQ doesnt affect the digital out.
Weird because my atoto does affect the optical out from EQ menu
Btw don’t max out the volume it clips badly
That is digital volume, I did test it out in my previous distortion video, you might want to check that out😉
