The JY-TZ167N4 also has a dedicated front camera input and comes ready to record both the front and rear cameras once you add a uSD card. The split screen mode is also better and lets you easily swap the L and R sides. The newer unit also has higher higher V line level outputs compared to the older unit.) www.joyingauto.com/joying-200... This older JY-TQ167N4G-B can currently be found on Ebay at a deal.

    Two Quick question that Home Screen with the Toyota symbol in the center of your stereo.
    Second is my Tundra is a 2007 model can I connect an after market front camera to my truck that works with this unit.

      1. The home screen with the Toyota symbol is the Agama launcher. There is a link to it in this video's description. 2. Using the newer version of the radio (the description talks about the old VS new version of the radio), you can have both a front and rear camera. From the description "The JY-TZ167N4 also has a dedicated front camera input and comes ready to record both the front and rear cameras once you add a uSD card." Of course you don't need to record the video from the cameras, but it makes a very convenient bumper cam (or wherever you mount them). The AR cameras that Joying sells are very reasonably priced and put out a high resolution image. I used to use an aftermarket tailgate handle camera, but the resolution was low and it looked cruddy on the big Joying screen. The original version of the radio had a generic A/V input so that is where I plugged my front camera into. The new version has a dedicated front input and integrates both front and camera better.

    any issues with temp? not a ton or reviews are long-term, but some on ama z on tell that the unit will shut down in temps over 90°
    i'm looking for the 10.1" unit for a 2015 taco, just hesitant since there are so many complaints of the screen glitching, the unit losing android auto connection on a whim, and the unit shutting down completely.
    any real issues yet?

      I bought the Joying in mid February of 2022 so it went through the inland San Diego summer (lots of low to mid 90F days with an occasional day near 100F). The first two months I used it to power my speakers directly which should have added to the heat. After that, I have been using an external amplifier. The only problem I had with it (dislikes #2 in the video and description) has not come back since Joying had me pull the ribbon cable and put it back on. It has been a few weeks now.

    Hi I bought the Amaga launcher and I couldn't set it as a default launcher even though it said set as default and Home App Yes, but every time I hit a physical home button it will take to Joying default launcher instead Amaga. any tips ? thanks in advance.

    Thanks for this video. So how are you feeling about this unit after 6 months? I am thinking of getting it for my 2012 Tundra. Is the unit a double DIN? I had two previous 10.1 from Joying and both failed. Can you still add apps like poweramp? The ones I had before had enough storage to load all my music in. How about these? Sorry for all the questions but I am so leery about buying Joying again

      I have had my current Joying (JY-TZ167N4) for about 5.5 months. The description talks about the new features (compared to the original JY-TQ167N4G-B). The main reason I switched to the newer version was to get front and rear "dash cam" (bumper cams for me). The radio will record both the front and rear cameras when the truck is running. You need to add a uSD card for the radio to record to. The higher V line level outs are nice too. Split screen is better compared to the older version. Both versions physically look identical. Getting to your questions, yes you can add amps like Poweramp (the audio player I use). I use a 256GB thumb drive plugged into the radio to store all my music. OBD Fusion works great on it. The Joying AR cameras have great resolution with this radio. The metal case of the radio isn't double DIN size (much smaller), but the complete head unit covers the entire double DIN area of the Tundra. My first Joying (JY-TQ167N4G-B that is in this video) did have intermittent display problems (as covered in my video). Joying was responsive and sent me a replacement cable (cable from screen to unit). That seemed to fix it, although I really needed a few weeks with it to know for sure, but the cable came about the same time I replaced it with the newer version. I am very happy with the JY-TZ167N4, but will see how she is doing in another six months. If you haven't already watched SoCal Expeditions video on the same (newer) radio, it is here. It is a lot of install info, but some operating video. ua-cam.com/video/sSds9CSkd5Y/v-deo.htmlsi=g-lkS_7A8UGcTcO_

      @@N6EAJ Thank you for your reply man, I really appreciate it. I'm just so hesitant at this point to buy another Joying unit after both of my others failed (2 within 2 years). I am only considering it because I can't find anything else out there with the same size and price point. I could deal with a smaller screen size but hard to find a Kenwood or JVC with the same functionality. I contacted Joying to let them know I had two failures but they don't seem to want to work with me too much. They offered like a 5% discount if I buy a new unit. I would have thought they would offer more than that considering all the money I have spent on their products already. So I guess it's going to be a crap shoot again at this point.

      @@user-tn1cv4gt9m I feel your pain. I would prefer to stick to a Kenwood, Sony or similar Japanese head unit, but the features you get with the Joyings are hard to beat. I wanted a physical volume knob and a SIM card slot. I also really like having a full Android operating system. The Joying is the only option for that. It is nice having a dedicated SIM card so I don't have to mess around with Android Auto or Car Play. Having a SIM card is also a poor-mans LoJack since I can use the Android "Find My Device" feature.

    Do you know if this unit allows steering wheel controls and the OEM microphone to work?

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  3 місяці тому +1

      I don't believe it works with an oem microphone. It does support steering wheel controls although I don't have SWC. I use the Joyimg add on SWC and it sets up the same way.... you go into the Joying SWC app and map the buttons on the swc to the functions you want in the app.

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  5 місяців тому +1

      I use a bluetooth OBDII device that plugs into my OBDII port and the Joying can connect to it using bluetooth to show car info. I have used the Torque and OBD Fusion apps on the Joying.

    What is the point of the front camera? Does it have auto detection and make noises if you get too close to something?

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  2 місяці тому

      The front camera is good for two things. 1. I have the camera adjusted (angle wise) so if an parking space line is at the very bottom of the screen then my bumper is almost over that line. It helps me pull all the way forward in a parking spot without going over... nice since the Tundra is large 2. For the version of the radio that you can currently buy (JY-TZ167N4), the front camera acts as a dash cam. As soon as I start the truck, the video from both the front and rear camera are recorded to the optional SD card that is plugged into the radio. I guess I should call it a bumper cam.

    Have the same headunit. My biggest problem is that everything now squeaks. My climate controls, left trim piece, headunit, and lower left ashtray area squeak. Not sure if it's because of taking it apart, or from the headunit not being solid mounted. But it sure is annoying

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  8 місяців тому +1

      I can't say I have noticed dash squeaking since installing the radio. I saw one person installed it and put the stock side metal mounts on the Joing..... not sure if that might help. Mine snaps in solidly with the two clips on the bottom and top (the ones with the stock yellow inserts that put pressure to hold in place).

    can you fade to the rear?

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  3 місяці тому

      If you use the four speaker level outs or the four line level outs to a 4-ch amplifier, you can fade front to rear and left to right. I only run front L and R line level outs to my Audio Control Epicenter (and then on to a Dayton DSP and five channel amp) so I can not fade front/rear.

    T-Mobile decommissioned 3G, aka UMTS in July 2020. You’re better off with 4G or 5G anyway. 3G is old, third world technology.

    • @N6EAJ
      @N6EAJ  3 місяці тому

      I'm better off with 4G with the head unit when I can get it. The radio would not get data unless the reception indicator said 4G. If it showed signal strength bars but no 4G graphic, I would not get data. Perhaps it wasn't 3G, but whatever mode it was showing signal strength for was not getting me data. With the newer version of the radio (see description), I no longer have dead spots where I have decent signal, but no data. As long as I show OK signal strength, I get data. My APN settings have not changed so the difference must be with the newer version radio.
