  • My husband Jeffrey loved German Chocolate Cake for his birthdays when he was young and I love recreating healthy plant-based versions of classic cakes. So today we have this scrumptious two layer, whole food, plant-based Vegan German Chocolate Cake that will knock your socks off! The dark chocolate cake layers are topped with a creamy, coconut and pecan frosting that is pure heaven and the entire cake is refined sugar-free, oil-free, eggless, and gluten-free.

    When this popped up on my TV, I knew it was going to be on the menu for Christmas Eve! I made it and it came out beautifully! The cake is so chocolaty and the frosting has just enough sweetness and the roasted pecans just add that nice, warm crunch! Thank you, Jill!❤️

    I made this cake for a friend's birthday, I didn’t use the pecans because my friend has peanut allergy .. we all love it! I made it a second time with pecans for my husband's birthday as he request it🎉 Today I made it 3rd time for a german friend, I added a bit of rum on the frost. My friend said: this cake is better than the german cake you have to give me the recipe! I did print it for her 😊 her Italian husband also liked it so much! Thanks so much Jill for your amazing healthy recipes!❤

    I've seen recipes for German chocolate cake on several American channels and never could make sense of it because there's no cake like this in Germany. Fun fact: I just googled it and found out that the cake is named after an English-American chocolate maker named Samuel German 😁

      I was wondering as well because one of the most famous German cake is the Black Forest cake with cherries. 😉🍒

      @gruschls Рік тому +1

      Omg same here. I thougt: Where are the cherrys? The only famous chocolate cakes in Germany are „Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte“ or „Donauwelle“ and both have cherrys in them 😂 Thank you for googling and tell us about Mr. German 😊

    You’re amazing. I found that making red quinoa into a batter with one to one water in the nutribullet and add cacao powder and dates make an amazing cake or brownie consistency! Also the red version of quinoa doesn’t carry that undesirable quinoa flavor in a desert

    Fun fact: German chocolate cake is not a type of cake from Germany. German was simply the last name of the cook who first famously published the recipe!

    I made this cake for my son who is overweight and a diabetic, I had to add keto sugar frosting because there wasn't enough but that cake tasted great. Don't expect a cake, it's more like a brownie. I don't think he liked the texture but I had to make him something with high fiber so his sugar would not increase. Ty

    (With heat blower/ventilator or only low and high heat resisistances?)

      @@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Hey my dear Jill so happy to read you since a long time 😊..never forget you and still watching you noce and calm while cooking..Relax and tasty feelings..
      For your oven, it may be the static fonction you use obviously..if you dont have "ventilator" blowing in the back of your oven cavity.
      (Maybe the best function for Cakes to raise slowly..)
      Because I see you often put 2 pans at once when you bake..and even 3 for Hummingbird Cake if I remember well..and in general it is hard to cook many pans together without "blower" activated..you keep same time baking for 2 pans at once? And for me with one pan at once?
      And you seems to success like this!
      Thanks so much again 🙂
