Thanks so much for your help. Your last statement about not hooking the Heater to the HVR fixed my issue. My electrician did not know what he was doing and did not wire up my pool equipment properly for it to work with the OmniPL. I could not get it to turn on/off or adjust temperature using the app. I figured out how to put the heater in Bypass Operations mode, but it still was not working. Once I rewired the heater straight to the circuit breaker and adjusted my setting to use the LV1 relay rather than the HVR1, it worked like a champ. Thanks so much!!

Hey George, could you elaborate a little more. I am having the same issue we have the heater wired into LV1, and we can turn it on or off, but I have no control over the temperature any help would be greatly appreciated!

@@Norman101tank I think your issue is that the high voltage to power the heater is tied into a high voltage relay (HVR1). The 120/240 voltage to supply main power to the heater needs to tie in directly to the circuit breaker so it is always powered on. Then there is a separate low voltage circuit on the heater that needs to be tied into the green block on the left side of the circuit board labeled LV1. If that part is done correctly you need to put the heater in ‘bo’ mode so it is a slave to the Omni

Tyler, I have a similar issue with the Omni PL Retrofit kit and a Rheem 266A digital pool and spa heater. In my case the heater power is correctly wired to a breaker in the Omni PL panel. It is not wired to a HV relay. The remote communication wires in the Rheem heater are two sets of three wires each connected to one of the leads across a fireman’s switch. The two sets of three wires are connected to the heater terminals on the green block in the Omni PL panel. I can operate the heater without remote operation but when I try to operate remote it doesn’t work and I receive the fireman’s switch/timeclock fault on the heater whereby this safety relay remains open. Any thoughts ?

Great video thank you! Question: I do not think you show were the communication cables are. Can you elaborate? Those needed to operate VS pump and heater, since they go directly to the breakers

Do you guys know the process for wiring a boiler system and heat exchanger for the source of heat.
Thanks for the overview, very helpful troubleshooting and reinforcing my knowledge of the system

Thanks for the video, I’m having a pool built and I have all Hayward product. I’ve also had the Omni PL installed. I’m asking if possible, to have you do a video on how to wire and install outdoor lighting/palm tree lights to the Omni PL system.
    Thanks for the videos

great video. Question...where can I buy the green buss logic connectors for the OmniPL system? I need them to utilize the heater contacts & temp sensor inputs.

What might happen if you had the wrong chlorinator selected and ran it like that for a long time? Would it damage anything?

Good morning- great video- we are having a very difficult time hooking up the variable speed pump motor and we are not getting any slay reading.

Hi Tyler. Thank you very much for this great video. I just purchased 2 variable speed pumps. One is a 2.7 Trystar VS 950 for the pool that I can connect to the OmniLogic to the 4 PIN connectors via the communication cable. The other one is a Superpump XE for the waterfall (also a variable speed pump) but I was told that I have to connect it to the high voltage relay because it does not have the option to connect it to the Omni via a communication cable. Basically, although it is a variable speed pump, I can only turn it ON and OFF with the Omni but I cannot control the speed. Is this correct? Thank you in advance for taking time in answering my question. Fernando

That is correct. The XE pump gets wired to a high voltage relay to only turn on and off.

Also would you know i have a hayward VS pump about 8 years old, Model #SP3202VSPND connected to my aqua plus now, will this be campatible with the OMNI PL? will it reconize it ? thanks again

Maybe you can help me with this question please..i have the hayward color logic 4.0 lights(2- just in pool) , i have the aquaplus controler , it controls my lights, in instructions for omniPL , it says in instructions for omniPL if using networked color logic lights, lights must be put into "standalone(default) mode before disconnecting the control. Do i need to do this? if you could help it would be great..thanks again!!!

On my pl ps 8 it shows hooking a 2 speed pump up across 2 relays vs directly to the circuit breaker? Also shows going from one relay to vs pump not directly to the breaker ? Can yo advise on that thx

My Omni automation valves quit working. I can't swap from pool mode to spa mode. And the valve will not move with the switch under the actuator either. Seems like there is a bad fuse or no power.

some confusion on your comment that the heater is wired to your breaker....that can't actually happen. you can wire the heater wires to the 240v wires coming from the breaker and pig tail the 240 wires to your Line In 1 and Line in 2 on the HVR 1 relay; and if using a VSP pump you would join the pump wires to the 240v wires from breaker along with the heater wires and pig tail those to your HVR1 relay.

Yea I would say the point is that the gas heater needs to be wired so that the high voltage pigtails from the gas heater need to be wired directly to a 120/ 240 feed from the OmniPl/ automation panel. It fires up based on the low voltage communication wires when hooked up to automation. You just do not want to wire up a gas heater to the load side of a high voltage relay. If your point is that you can wire up the high voltage wires to the line side of a high voltage relay then yes I agree that is the way that I do it. Sharing a 20 amp double pole breaker with the spa blower. All good.
