An interesting flight narrative punctuated by some dry humour.. eg "complementary stains" left by preceding passengers... a smooth flight in a great aircraft on a glorious NSW/Qld day.. Some great scenery -including the "Flying Kangaroo" on the winglet of course!! Another enjoyable video Paul.
You always have stunning views over Sydney harbour... thanks for another great report. I'm with you on the legrest things... I guess I'm not the correct demographic for them, but they make me feel less comfortable... Air NZ for a time had these weird beanbag footrest thingies in PE, which sounds lovely in theory, but my giraffe-like legs needed to stretch out... Thanks for the avgeekness on this flight and enjoy your next one!
Great video again Paul. I’ve just begun making videos and yours, Dennis B and Sam C are very inspirational and excellent standard among channels to watch. Keep it up!!!
Another great report Paul. I like the 330 Y class, but the thing I wish they had was a foldable cup holder, or at least a slot for a cup on the smaller tray table.
Another great review Paul. The Roosters play Rugby League not Rugby which is also known as Rugby Union....but mostly as Rugby. Have flown the QF A 330-300 a few times and was on board for a brand new A330-300 first domestic/revenue flight from Sydney to Melbourne many years ago and remember the aircraft still smelt like a new car!! Keep up the fantastic reviews!!!
Paul - you are flying economy class??? That's how I normally fly (When I was younger and without family I was traveling quite frequently in Europe - always first and business class. Now it's economy with the family :):):):) You always trade one thing for another). As usual, great video Paul. I enjoy the commentary! Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Jarek! Business or first is great on long haul flights although too pricey for short flights so I usually fly in economy. :) Yep my plan is to get all of the J and F flying out of my system before I had to start flying in Y again due to family commitments. ahaha.
I have to agree with you on that Paul I much prefer the A330 over the 737s for Domestic sectors as I found last year trying both. Nice that we can still have engine views in economy. Love the Sound of the Takeoff. Agree with the spotting area in Sydney flirt central 10/10
@@PaulStewartAviationI quite like this A330-300 cabin looks new and comfy. I flew once A330 SYD-MEL, but i think that was A330-200, bit old I felt. But this A333 definitely gonna delight the trip.
From what I understand, most domestic A330 flights are the shorter -200 model and two of those haven't been refurbished yet. I suspect this -300 was being moved around for an upcoming international flight.
Darn! You showed the Gold Coast then cut straight to Moreton Bay. Would've like to have seen an unedited view from GC to Brisbane. Still worthy of a thumbs up.
23 B or J for me ... no one reclines into you :) ... but it is short on leg stretching .. that is why B & J are better straight to the aisle for stretch :)
I recently flew with qantas from Tokyo to Melbourne on this aircraft and the economy class seat on the a330-300 was one of the best I’ve ever sat in I am currently in lucerne Switzerland I booked with qantas for my trip this time and coming to switzerland qantas booked me on Emirates from Sydney to Zurich through Dubai I didn’t mind Emirates but Sydney to Dubai is just too long of a flight for me I fly back on the 10th from Zurich back to Wellington and I can’t wait to finally try the qantas a380 economy product from London to Sydney and also the qantas business lounge in London thanks to my qantas club lounge membership
What’s it like to be an AV geek from Australia? More flights, less flights? Flights that are hard for you to get to? Anywhere you’d like to review but is just a bit inconvenient right now?
Gday Paul Qantas need to put these 300's on the Melbourne -Perth run. They are wasted on the east coast run, but saying that I guess it was going International from Brisbane? I enjoy your videos mate.
Hi Paul. Great video. I always love the SYD-BNE sector as it gets some of the best views in the Australian domestic network. I agree with you on the A330 v B737 debate for the same reasons, plus it's hard not to prefer a wide body. There's just something cool about 2 aisles vs 1. The wife also prefers the A330 economy class because it means that she doesn't have to sit next to a stranger (as I'm always in the window seat 😉) due to the 2-4-2 configuration. PS the Sydney Roosters play rugby league. The Sydney based rugby franchise is the NSW Waratahs.
Mate, in a social setting, you'd be the most interesting person to talk to. If I bumped into you at a party I'd totally want to talk about wing engineering.
It's a sobering lesson on turbine fuel economy at lower altitudes that it's still worthwhile climbing all the way to Fl 370 just for 20 minutes on a one hour flight.
Hi Anthony, the A330-200s regularly flying within Australia although I suspect the A330-300 was only being relocated for another long-haul flight. In fact, I think this aircraft flew to HKG the next day.
Like you Paul, I like a wing to look at, I also like that music doesn’t “overpower” your videos. Less is more in that department, I also like the sound of the plane. Nerdy? Just a tad maybe 🙄
Um... why not fly a massive plane for an hour flight? No QF don't fly the A320, just Jetstar. (there is one A320 in QantasLink colours that flies out west, though).
Fabulous photography Paul yet again but Im sorry I just could'nt lower myself to fly cattle class even on short flights. I much prefur the pointy end where at least flying is still somewhat special Call me a snob but its so much better not having fellow passengers impeeding on your personal space. "HAPPY LANDINGS"
I find it funny we all expect something to eat even a snack on a 60min flight but on the same rail commute you don't care just complain about the crowded train.
Very true! Why would people want a mass produced packeted meal on a 60 min flight when they can easily buy something decent at the airport. Hence why I never buy any onboard food when I fly with Jetstar (or British Airways).
You have done it again, Paul. You have made an ordinary domestic one hour flight very interesting. Where to next.
Thanks mate. The next video will either be Qatar A330 business or Lufthansa A320 business :)

Another fantastic video! I love this airframe and have taken this sector way more times than I care to admit (all for work). Thanks for sharing!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Great video Paul! Loved those views over Sydney harbour!
Thanks mate. Stunning weren't they?!
Lovely views!
@paul I pissed my self laughing when you pulled down the tray table and commented about the complementary stains left by previous flight 😂😂
Another great video Paul

Great video as ever, keep them coming, not to bad a seat for economy class

Can you please do a review on the Retro Roo Paul.
I've always wondered what it's like to fly on a golden era plane.
Hi Chris, I flew in Retro Roo (and Retro Roo 2) quite a few years ago so you'll need to search a long way back on my channel. :)
Stunning video man! Liked!

Paul I am afraid to inform you but this aircraft has been withdrawn from Qantas and so has the other a330-300 Qantas ones !!!

Thanks mate. I also agree that it's nice getting a good view of the engine from economy. There's no such luck in the shorter A330-200, though.
Thanks for sharing Paul. Nice breakfast and entertainment to say that's in economy. Much better than we get in United states.

Flights are generally quite pricey here. Much more so than Europe and the USA.
Why does the title slide in the video (at 0:28) say that you’re flying to Melbourne?? Great video though!
ops damn a typo! lol
0:29 says SYD - MEL?
soz a typo :(
Gday Paul Qantas need to put these 300's on the Melbourne -Perth run. They are wasted on the east coast run, but saying that I guess it was going International from Brisbane? I enjoy your videos mate.
Hi mate, I thought they did put A330s on MEL-PER? Has that changed? Yeah because it was a -300 model, I'm assuming the next flight was international.
You have a good head for radio.
boom boom
the was a good view of Sydney
Absolutely, cheers
Was on this one last month from Hong Kong to Brisbane amazing plane But flew business class with points 😀 same exact plane
Hope you had a great flight! Reminds me that I need to get around to editing my BNE-HKG A330 J flight!
awesome video Paul

Nice video. Breakfast isn't what it used to be.
Thanks John. There was probably a hot option although I'm not a huge fan of the usual powdered eggs and sausages.
Thanks Paul. No eggs?
very healthy
Nice video. I flew this route in 2005 with QF on a 767. Do they still use this aircraft on this route?
Thanks mate. No, QF have retired all of their passenger carrying 767s.
Mate, in a social setting, you'd be the most interesting person to talk to. If I bumped into you at a party I'd totally want to talk about wing engineering.
haha
VH-QPI 😍 I always get VH-QPI when i fly to Hk!
It looks great in the new livery. The -300 is much better proportioned than the -200 too :)
It's a sobering lesson on turbine fuel economy at lower altitudes that it's still worthwhile climbing all the way to Fl 370 just for 20 minutes on a one hour flight.
Good video
Thanks mate
great video paul. i find the new qantas livery a bit werid because of the armless kangaroo
Rory McNicol Considering the similarities between this livery and the Cathay Pacific/Dragon livery.
Thanks Rory.
Why are they using a wide body on such a short flight? Is it really that busy?
Hi Anthony, the A330-200s regularly flying within Australia although I suspect the A330-300 was only being relocated for another long-haul flight. In fact, I think this aircraft flew to HKG the next day.
That explains it. QF used a re-positioning as a chance for a revenue flight. I bet the business travellers didn't even notice.
Have you been on a A330 before in your videos Paul?
Hi mate, I think this was my first video although I've got a Qatar and Turkish A330 video coming up :)
Like you Paul, I like a wing to look at, I also like that music doesn’t “overpower” your videos.

I love it when you say "the roosters are constantly in the top 16"..... there are only 16 teams in the competition 😂

On the screen it said QF510
Hmmm interesting. I just double checked my QF account and it was definitely QF506.
Please, give me Hobart over Brisbane any day!
HBA has a nicer climate! Winter in Binny is nice but it's hell between November and March.
whats the bgm? Love it!!

Is the single standard power plug an aus plug. Looks foreign?
It’s an international one that fits many plugs. Aussie ones will work fine.
