This video is very formative and right on the spot. It serves its purpose on how to say it briefly and effectively. I believe the author, Claudia Dornbusch is a professional and experienced teacher beside being a pro in technology. Thanks for inspiring me. I wish to be able to use your clues when I get a chance to teach online.
This is the only eLearning video I've seen on UA-cam. that is purely informative, and doesn't shout out sales gimmicks. The video is well-designed, well-paced, clear, and recognises the importance of the learner in a facilitative context.
Excellent method, here real learning and convincing teaching takes place. The video is great and the explanation is very good, accurate, short and to the point.
Very impressed. Are you not producing any more videos? These are still very relevant points but a few years old now. I would be interested to see a new video on the new learning technologies that exist and how that impacts the virtual classroom. Great work.
that's interesting Karen. I thought that the visuals were an interesting way to keep people engaged and spoke to her general idea of providing a fun visual during the presentation.
Great video - I learned a lot, since I have no experience in a classroom (although I spent many years as a corporate trainer). Am taking Coursera's Foundations of Virtual Learning, and like so many others, found this video to be succinct and very effective. Thank you!
I just watched this as a part of my class on Coursera on Foundations of Virtual Instruction. I found this video very engaging and fun to watch. I had to pause every now and then since I wanted to take glossary, but that's the whole point of it! I can pause any time and watch again. Thank you for sharing an invaluable information for a beginner online teacher. It's already on my list of favorites!
this video was very informative and i'm now even thinking about even using some of the examples mentioned to teach in my live classroom setting. A lot of things that was said caused me to rethink about my method of delivery in the classroom and i must say thanks for the information
terrific job on the video with some excellent ideas. one disagreement, and maybe it's just my personality, but I find teachers that keep asking me if I understand over and over to be annoying. it also usually just opens the door to the three loud mouth extroverts that like to hear themselves talk. really good elearning makes sure everyone is engaged without spotlighting. however, you did say that earlier in the video. thanks!
Excellent ideas for keeping participants engaged. But first we have to get them to attend. My experience with teaching at a distance is that my students are so busy and have such varied schedules (the very reason they do distance learning to begin with), doing a synchronous meeting gets very few of the learners together at the same time, thus defeating the whole point of synchronous.
Excellent presentation! The pacing was, at least for me, just right and the cautionary tips at the end of each major point provided a helpful signal that a new point was to be introduced.
Hi Claudia,This is very nice video, and I like it.A virtual classroom is a teaching and learning environment where participants can interact, communicate, view and discuss presentations, and engage with learning resources while working in groups, all in an online setting. And in future ,if you need some help so you can refer this link address.(goo.gl/EZuAia)
You need access to a platform (Adobe Connect, WebEx, Blackboard, etc.) to use for your online class. Once you have a platform, the platform generates a URL which you can share with others to join you as you practice. Or someone who already has a platform and is setting up a class can share the URL with you.
@eLearningDoctors I'm familiar with the term breakout rooms from software such as the Wimba Collaborative Suite. In web-based software such as Moodle, this can be completed through the use of group-based visibility in discussion forums.
Thank you for this informative video. It's one the resources in my Virtual Teacher Certificate Program on UC Irvine/Cousera. Congratulations on being chosen! I plan to visit here often. One question: is it possible to MUTE the background audio? Or do your videos exist on another platform where the viewer has the option to eliminate the loop?
Another question: is it possible to get the transcript for this video? I really appreciate this but admit that I'm INCREDIBLY distracted by the background. I'd like to be able to retain and use all of the wonderful information shared!
thank you for your tips... I am a voice over talent and I am now receiving projects to record my voice for e-learning use... as long as 13,000 words English text. thank you
