  • This one is for LivingTheKnifeLife. I hope this answers your questions... :-) These are, all, awesome Fixed Blade Combat Knives, in my opinion. I recommend them all.
    With that said, LivngTheKnifeLife wanted to know what I thought of the 12" San Mai Magnum and Warcraft Tanto's from Cold Steel. So, here is my comparison Video of mine. I give my thoughts on them, so far. And, let you know why I purchased them. Take a look. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

    I can appreciate your addiction to Cold Steel blades, as I'm a big "Fanboy" myself. I own more Cold Steel cutlery than all other brands. I've owned most of my collection for decades. I bought the first offering of the Warcraft 12".

      Now, you sound a lot like me... :-) The majority of my Knife Collection consist of Cold Steel Folders and Fixed Blades, too. :-) Though, I absolutely luv trying out everything that attracts me. Especially, if I can afford to try it out. But, like you, Cold Steel rules my Collection... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

    Yo my man Stiletto, Thanks for the shout out and for making this video!!) You helped me make a decision and I plan on getting the Magnum first and the Warcraft next. I agree with what you said about the ideal fighting knife length of 6 to 9 inches for close quarter combat. The Cold Steel Marauder or Cold Steel Drop Forged Bowie would be ideal since both ranging around the 8 and 9 inch range. Keep doing what you're doing Thanks brotha!)

    I agree with the description that the Magnum Tanto is a master fighting knife for sure. That’s what I think of when I see them, and I can’t see them without picturing Lynn C Thompson cutting through a carcass with one! I love those knives. Awesome video again, Stiletto. I never knew what the other steel was in San Mai or its properties either. Interesting that it is so tough and good to know 💪

    Love the comparison! Just got the san mai warcraft from midway USA, fantastic price & fantastic knife. More beefier than I thought. It has a small asymmetry on the tanto but I can live with it given the super low price. Wish they still make the old school 9 inch magnum tanto in san mai.

    I love Joe x he really shows you the actual abuse the blades can take. I don't know if I like the way the new warcraft handle is made. I think the handle is what made that knife. What it was when they made the first generation.

    • @Kris_Stiletto
      @Kris_Stiletto  10 місяців тому +1

      I like the 1st Generation of the Warcraft the best, too... I like that it was, originally, a Andrew Demko design. Also, that it had a Flat, Saber-Ground, American Tanto, that was made from CPM-3V. I, too, absolutely luv the Original Handle and Tapered, Fully Exposed, Handle Tang.
      So, I absolutely luv my Original, Demko, Warcraft's.
      But, the New, GSM, Cold Steel Warcraft is a Beast, too... And, I absolutely luv Joe X and what he does. But, putting every knife through the same destruction test only proves every knife can be broken. It doesn't show if the knife will be good or not for it's intended tasks it was designed for... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

      Yeah I'm going to buy one just to have it because, you know it's still cold steel. Those magnum blades are spectacular, I want one so bad but you know the wife says practicality for expensive knives. Well a 12 inch knife is only one use 😂😂😂. Definitely want a 6 inch or the next size up!! I do have a sk5 recon tanto coming Monday so that's exciting!!😂😂

      Right on! It's just a lot of fun having a 12" Blade. I know many say super big Blades are slower and more awkward in Close Quarters Combat. But, the sight of a massive 12" Blade will definitely strike fear in an Attacker! They're good for practicing the Art of Fighting without Fighting... I other words, they will scare away most Attackers. That's why I like them for House Protection Tools... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

      @Kris_Stiletto  Рік тому +2

      Great choices, Bro. Yes, I like watching Joe X Videos, too. He puts Blades through abuse that I never would put a Blade through. From his Videos, you can see what a Edged Tool can handle. But, I always keep in mind, what the Tool he's testing is meant for... I find his Videos very Educational. :-) And, I have seen the New Demko Fixed Blades he designed for Outdoor use. If you're looking for a Camp Duty Edged Tool, I would recommend Esee Knives. Why? They have the best warranty service. If you snap your blade, they will replace your Knife. And, 1095HC is a better steel for a hard use Fixed Blade than AUS-10A. If you want to Baton, I would consider the Esee 5. If you want a great multi-purpose Fixed Blade, I would suggest the Esee 6. :-) Don't get me wrong, I absolutely luv Demko Knives. But, for the price that Andrew is asking for his New Knife, there are a lot of great and proven choices for less. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I know it seems impossible to whittle down to five but in this scenario you were ONLY allowed to keep 5 regardless of knife type, blade material, manufacturer or specific knife purpose. 3v is better than san mai in almost every category except stain resistance. And even then 3v doesn't rust or stain readily. Its much tougher, holds a better edge, has better edge stability. Yes its more difficult to sharpen but if you have diamond stones or a ceramic hone youre good to go.

      @Kris_Stiletto  Рік тому

      Right on. Do they weigh a lot less without the wrapping? You're talking about my Krupp 4034 one's, right? Those are the lighter weight one's. If you haven't, try wrapping your handles; it really improves the grip and confidence when wielding them. To me, it even makes them fell much lighter and easier to handle in hand. I used Tennis Racket Handle Wrap, that I purchased at Big 5 Sporting Goods. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

    I don't just consider the human threat when choosing a tactical knife. I've seen bears and bucks at night and even in the daytime when walking to places I got to get to not to mention anything freaky and bizarre that I might run into. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it so got to have at least two knives for different situations and sometimes using two at once for more stabby slash slash and run like hell. Plus I'm homeless at the moment so I don't have a door and four walls to hide behind either.🙀

    I always think of a Sandwiches when saying sanmai? 🤤 now I’m hungry!
    I can’t believe how the original Warcraft grip is so close to the recon 1 folder , but the recon fixed blade is a neutral handle?
    IMO-a All blacked out blade is a bonus for combat but shiny big blades in civilian combat could be a huge intimidation & deterrent to a attackers.
    That’s not a knife 🔪!

    • @Kris_Stiletto
      @Kris_Stiletto  Рік тому +1

      I totally agree. One of the reasons I like big crazy looking blades for Home Defense is for the 'Art of Fighting Without Fighting." :-) I know I wouldn't want to mess with anybody wielding a Big 10 to 12 inch long, super sharp, Blade... So, yes, to me a Civilian or Urban Combat Blade is better off being Flashy and very Noticeable and Intimidating. That helps to scare off would be Attackers; hence, the "Art of Fighting Without Fighting!" :-) That's a major reason I absolutely luv these and my other Mega Fixed Blades.
      But, for a Soldier, you definitely want a completely Murdered Out Knife and Firearms and other Tools of War. You don't want anything that can give away your position. Absolutely agree, Bro! Right on, Lucky! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

    • @Kris_Stiletto
      @Kris_Stiletto  10 місяців тому

      American G-10 is very dense. It's not an Injection Molded Plastic like Grivory or Griv-Ex or FRN or Zytel or Zy-Ex. It is man made and has to be machined into a usable shape. That's why it's much more expensive than a Injection Molded Material. So, it's a lot more dense and heavier than an Injection Molded Plastic Material. That's why, I believe the VG-10 San Mai Warcraft is heavier than the German Krupp 4034 Warcraft...
      That's the only difference, other than Steel Types, between them; the dimensions and sizes are the same. But, the 4034 has Gri-Ex Handle Scales and the VG-10 San Mai has American G-10 Handle Scales...
      G-10 Knives always weigh more than the same Knives with FRN, Zytel, or Grivory Handle Scales... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

    Not sure if I'd want a Warcraft XL or a BK9 for tactical use...

    • @Kris_Stiletto
      @Kris_Stiletto  5 місяців тому

      I absolutely luv both! That's a very hard choice. It, to me, just comes down to preference.
      My BK-9 is my go to for heavier duty Woodcrafting chores and tasks. So, basically. It's my personal favorite "Camp" Knife. I think of it as a big "Utility" Knife that's shines when it comes to hard work; I don't think of it as a "Fighting" Knife...
      Where as, with the Old, 3V, Cold Steel Warcraft, I think of that one as being more of an Apocalypse Fixed Blade. It's a great hard worker, too... And, it's a great Combat or Fighting Blade, also...
      But, for a Big Fixed Blade for Camp Duties that you may need to do a lot of abusive tasks with, I would pick the BK-9.
      For the purpose of being a Fighter, I would pick the 9 or 12 inch Warcraft Fixed Blades. To me, these are Fighting Knives that can double as good Fieldcraft and Camp Knives, too...
      But, due to the rarity of the old 3v Warcrafts, I would save that one, it's not replaceable. The BK-9, on the other hand is... :-) Hard question! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

      @Kris_Stiletto  5 місяців тому

      I absolutely luv my 12" VG-10 San Mai and 4034 Warcrafts. I missed out on the 12" CPM-3V Warcrafts. So, for me, these are the next best thing. The Original Demko Warcrafts had Saber Ground American Tanto Blades, made our of 3V and coated with Black DLC. To me, those were the best.
      Why?
      With the Saber Ground Blade and 3V Steel, they are going to be super strong and durable and tough and still hold a edge.
      The, New, Cold Steel Warcrafts have a Saber Hollow Ground Blade with a Flat Ground Tip.
      They are strong. But, not as strong as the Originals, that Andrew Demko designed.
      But, they make great Heavyweight Fighters!
      I use mine for Home Defense. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
