Here's one Cold Steel fan talking to you right here! My cousin bought the Magnum Tanto 12 in CPM3V from Optics Planet, as well as the brand new 2022 Warcraft Tanto XL in San Mai 3 from MidwayUSA last month. I facilitated both transactions. That Magnum Tanto 12 from Optics Planet was $211 and change due to me using the 10% discount that they gave me for being a first time buyer! Awesome deal they have going on! Both of those beautiful beasts are going in his display case of high end or discontinued Cold Steel knives that he is having built. They are both too rich for my blood, but they are both beautiful to behold! Those are AHC (At Home Carry) defense blades. As regards of withdrawing the blades from GFN sheaths, I do it like the Samurai. I withdraw and replace my Cold Steel fixed blade knives (OSI, Pendleton Hunter, Drop Forged Survivalist, and Recon Tanto San Mai 3) with it and its sheath upside down. That way the spine ALWAYS slides on the Sheath due to blade placement and gravity. Speaking of Samurai, in Japan, a Tanto (the knife) was around 20 inches long; a Wakizashi (the short sword) was around 30 inches long; a Katana (long sword) was around 40 inches long. The measurement of length was called a shaku, which is about 18 inches. Therefore a Tanto was one shaku, and so forth. I read a great deal on the Samurai, Ninja, their weapons, and their tactics. The CS Magnum Tanto XII CPM-3v is a superb knife- one to ride the river with. Have two, gave my San Mai III’s to family members. As to not having a black, non-reflective surface, it’s because the intended coating does not hold onto the CPM-3v, like it does with the San Mai III. When the wheels fall of, try spray black engine manifold paint, but first protect your handle. The knife has no faults, and as a combat knife, few equals. Cold Steel would have a very hard time upgrading it. Now, if CS were to come out with their Emperor line of swords in T-10 steel, THAT would be a real game changer…
Lotta good Cold Steel deals right now for memorial day. Been eyeing up the new XL warcraft in 4043 for 115 to compare it to the warcraft 3v. Nice looking out on deal alert for a bnb, thompson era tanto xii in 3v. Appreciate it. In for 1 as this one eluded me too

Yeah man, those have really come down in price. Amazon has that same 3V one for $219 too. Couldn't make out the logo, so don't know if it's GSM or not.

I have both 12" blades in 3V and San Mai. I prefer my Nightfall series, however.
