The moment I have been waiting for is finally here 😍. Thanks Rashi for this detailed video. I need to start this process next month so it could not be a better timing for the video than now.
I wish I had a video like this when I was applying. My renunciation certificate part went without a hitch, but when applying for my OCI, I had to do it twice 😭 The documents part tripped me because the drop down options didn't have all the documents they ask for in NL. And for the second appointment the next availability was 2 months later. In any case, I'm glad it's done!
@@ShrasRJ1987 Right!! So confusing 😅 I had my friend who just did it tell me most things but I still had to go twice one month later! Glad this video will be helpful to people 🙏🏼
Hello rashi. How can i correct my date of birth on oci card.which is written wrong by embassy. They write wrong date of birth y my city name also wrong.
@Rashi, Parents name (Matching with your passport or Parents passport) in BRP extract and apostille the BRP extract. Was it both done by you? In my BRP extract, my parents name is not correct, and I don't think so if they will have full name as my passport in the birth certificate.
Thanks for making a nice explainer video @Rashi in Amsterdam. Do you mind letting me know where on VFS website can I book an appointment for surrendering/renouncing my Indian passport? It's not very clear to me
@@rashi.in.amsterdam thanks for the response. I did this and selected the application centre. It has 4 options: Document collection, Enquiry form fill, Submission of non-VISA application and Submission of VISA application. Which once of these do you suggest choosing?
Do we only need yo renounce or Indian citizenship to get the OCI? The IND website says you'll automatically loose the Indian nationality after becoming a dutch Citizen snd you don't have to renounce your nationality to the government of India.
That just means you don't have to send IND proof that you renounced. You still have to surrender your Indian passport. IND website might say that because they don't care then if you renounce or not but Indian govt cares. On the Indian website linked it says it is mandatory. It is an offence under the Citizenship Act and the Passports Act for foreign nationals to hold Indian passports. I think you cannot even apply for visas to India if you don't do it.
I've a one query regarding present nationality if a person having a nationality of british but birth place is india so what should i select united kingdom or india? what should i put acquisition method? one more this they make their FIRST OCI when they were 56 years old. at present its 64 age. now they updated their passport so should they need to update new passport details or not? please tell me asap. thank you
I am wondering, should the declaration form be uplaoded as well for the OCI application? Or only submit it at the center? Thank you sooooo much for this video!!!!
Thanks Rashi for this video, it is a life saver. Also i was just about to start my OCI application. I have a question, what type of appointment do I need to schedule at VFS for the OCI application? Is it "Submission of non-visa application"? or can I select anything? Thanks again!

Thank you Rashi! quick question - If I have to travel to India in between the time when I get my Dutch passport and apply for citizen renunciation - is is possible to get visa - or should I anticipate any issues? thank you so much!
Once you have your Dutch passport you can apply for tourist e-visa. Should be fine. However, I would also plan the renunciation and not delay it (getting the vfs appointment etc)
I cant seem to find my renunciation certificate, it was ages ago I surrendered my Indian PP, what do i need to do now; can i apply for OCI without renunciation certificate; I cant even remember what it looked like.
