Dear Rashi, nice video. You come across as a nice and genuine person and I want to express my warm welcome to you in our (now yours too😊) country! Welkom, fijn dat je er bent ❣️
Wow that’s a very interesting story and explanation about naturalization, thank you so much for this video it helps a lot for me deciding to come to Netherlands and so far it sounds good I think I’ll move there
Actually, you’ve been coming across my feed regularly and sometimes I felt you were a bit snarky. But any doubts I had about you melted away by the sheer happiness you showed upon becoming a Dutch citizen.
Hey Rashi, firstly Gefeliciteerd! Thanks so much for such a detailed and informative video. Extremely helpful as I’m going through this process and love how you covered every step so well. Just a quick one, I think I heard you mention you arrived in 2019 and I’m just curious how you were able to apply in less than the 5 year period? Did you utilise the option route?
@@rashi.in.amsterdam ah that is awesome. Keep up the amazing work on all your videos. (Also looking forward to your other future videos on renouncing your Indian citizenship and getting the OCI).
I have a Dutch mother, Turkish father. When I was born, citizenship only passed from the father, therefore me and my sister did not receive the Dutch citizenship - can you imagine? Thankfully there was a change of law and other changes made in legislation that we were finally able to get it as 3 and 6 year olds. I know many others who either never got the nationality or lost their Dutch nationality when they married etc. back in those days. Nowadays, my (non existent) grand child's child's child's child's child's .... can get the Dutch nationality. That's a bit strange too. But of course, gefeliciteerd to you!
Other very important reasons to renounce your previous citizenship: You might be required to pay tax in your country of origin (like the USA) or you or your future son might be drafted for militarily duty in your country of origin (especially Iran is know for this). Some countries will not accept your renouncement (like Morocco).
tbh its always benefited me to keep my US citizenship. Great tax refund, Child tax credit and stimulus check when applicable. This is because the country I live in has far higher tax but lower salary than the US so I never owe anything but am always owed money. Good Tax Accountant is key.
Hey thank you for that very detailed and informative video! 😊 Also gefeliciteerd 🎉 Now, I am eligible to apply for the citizenship next year, but I have two questions - 1. Can we travel within Europe / outside of Europe while the application is in progress? 2. Does 5 year period mean 5 years from the day you arrived first in NL or is it the exact 5 year equivalent in terms of days lived in NL ( I mean to exclude the days you vacationed outside of NL) Thanks again! :)
@@2014158 The 5 years starts from when you are registered in the BRP in a municipality. You can find this date in Mijnoverheid. Just be aware that if you moved to NL and you lived in a company provided accommodation for 1 month, then that might not be counted (Heard this from a colleague who was asked to wait a month and come back and apply when he went to the in-take afspraak). So to answer your question, it is counted from the date you register in a Gemeente with an address and hence is not impacted by any days your travelled outside the Netherlands during this time.
I have to correct you: if you lived in The Kingdom of the Netherlands (not The Netherlands only), since there are 6 more islands. Sometimes in gemeente they don't know themselves this but this was my situation and I had to be persistent 😊
Is it advisable to apply for the Permanent Resident card before (3 months before the 5th year mark) applying for the passport for HSM visa holders as it might limit the possibility for changing jobs during the application?
Hey Rashi do they take the residence permit with them or they give it back after the appointment. As i have to travel to india for 11 days in December while the application is given.
Hey, how much time it takes to learn dutch for an indian who knows to speak english? And also, can i get internship, in Netherlands as a 3rd year engineering student in NIT?
Hello, I applied for a Dutch citizenship, and I got a letter that says that they have agreed to grant me my citizenship, and I will have to wait within 12 weeks to get a letter from the germeente about the ceremony. Please, is that how urs was?
Hi A question, If I am completing requirements by September then would they let me already book appointment now? or you can only book the appointment after 5 years
Saddest day in my life 2005 , when I exchanged my Indian passport for Dutch passport . Now, I'm waiting for my Indian passport and renounce Dutch citizenship.
@Frag_Limit well , I was young 20 years ago , then it made sense to work hard , travel hard , make an effort to learn language , culture ,effort to fit in, etc ..Dutch passport made sense then .. now as I am older, I feel at home more in India ,no need to try hard to fit back in India , contentment and belonging is more in India ..maybe the real reason some sun and tropical heat on the middle aged bones 😇 is a good reason 🙃
The photo is not free. You paid for it when you paid the €960, - . Nothing is ever free in the Netherlands. In one way or another you've always paid for it yourself. We call this : "een sigaar uit eigen doos krijgen" (being offered a cigar from you own case)
Congratulations. You are now the owner of the 3rd most powerful passport in the world with visa free entrance to 133 countries in the world. India is ranked 69
2005, I exchanged my Indian passport for Dutch passport . Now, I am waiting for Indian passport and renounce my Dutch passport. Unless you travel out of Europe every other weekend , passport ranking does not matter much.
