When you said replace leave in’s with hair milk’s I screamed “Yaaasss” because I literally notice the difference between milks and leave in’s, and milks are definitely more moisturizing for low porosity girls!
Well idk how you feel about Shea Moisture, but their Curl and Style milk from the Coconut Hibiscus line is great. But some other recommendations would be the Curl and Style Milk from Lottabody (great for a natural on a budget), the Avocado Hair Milk from Mielle Organics, or the Curl Milk from Camille Rose Naturals. Good luck!
Nutrition! It not always about what you put on your hair! Eat healthly fats, Omega oil, fish, avocados...ect. Your diet is important! Lack of can cause hair loss!
Good tips I love using aloe Vera juice mixed with water to spritz my hair before I add my moisturizer, it is so moisturizing and then I usually seal with castor oil, it's a little heavy so I don't use much but that always seals the moisture in my hair then I spritz my hair with the Aloe Vera mix daily. That routine usually leaves my hair moisturized for the whole week. It's also important to drink plenty of water to keep hair moisturized!
You’re so right. I’ve been natural for years, watching you tube for years, but it seems like I was watching for entertainment. I’ve been listening and not hearing, my hair crisp dry lacking moisture and not retaining length. I wasn’t doing anything to preserve my hair like wrapping it at night. Like, what the hell was I thinking? Only this past week I’ve learned about porosity which explains so much. Thank god for advice like this. I need to get my act together!
You are most certainly my favorite natural hair advisor little sis. Between the knowledge & laughs, I’m having a ball. Blessings as you grow & go forth 🌸
Wow, her second tip is what I literally do every wash day first thing. I always just run water over it in the shower. Not because I knew it would help with moisture but because it makes it easy to detangle when I split my hair into sections and the finger detangle under water. Nice to know that it helps with moisture retention too! 😊
Summary: 1. Use water-based products 2. Add water to your hair. While in the shower, part your hair in small sections and just let the water go into every strand 3. If you have low porosity hair, shower with warm water and then rinse out in the end with cold water 4. Switch your leave-in conditionner for a hair milk 5. Deep condition weekly (and don't forget to balance protein with moisture!) 6. Train your hair. Be consistent with your routine and your hair will reward you 7. Switch your oil if it's not working for your hair, don't be afraid of using different types of oils 8. Do NOT use a normal towel for drying your hair. Use a microfiber towel or a t-shirt instead! 11. YOU BEST TO PUT THAT BONNET ON 12. Avoid sulfates! 13. Clean your hair and your scalp :)
The whole t-shirt thing in the natural community has become one of the most distorted/misinformed tips (imo)….t-shirts are made from 100% cotton!! Like you said cotton draws out moisture. Using a t-shirt instead of a towel started to avoid hair getting caught in the texture of a towel (u know how towels have really tiny loops that snag hair?!)…not to retain moisture. The best way to retain the moisture from washing it is to not put any material on it. Then start your routine/process when it’s at the dampest level that works best for your hair and/or styling products. i.e: some ppl start adding products when hair is soaking wet vs some start adding products on damp hair. Years ago when I first tried to use a t-shirt instead of a towel but as thirsty as my hair likes to be…the shirt just made it worse. My hair was damn near dry when I took the t-shirt off after 4 mins 🤦🏽♀️lol But ppl will always do what they want anyway right lol 🤷🏽♀️ ……anyway I’m looking for some new deep conditioners, I’m going to go back to your DC video from a few weeks ago & see what I want to try….my hair is desparately thirsty right abt now 🙇🏽♀️ lol
My hair is the same. I use the t shirt to catch water and products running into my face. My hair needs all the water it can take. I put products on soaking wet, especially the aloe/water spritzer and hair milk.
I've watched 3 of your videos back to back & I'm getting ready to subscribe. Thanks for sharing the tip on switching out leave ins for milks. I'm implementing this immediately. Now let me get back to binge watching your channel!!
Omg thank you so much!! I used to use Camille Rose Naturals curl love moisture milk and ran out of it months ago and my hair hasn’t been the same. Smh, I’ve been using leave ins thinking it would help. Going back to the hair milks!
When i was little my hair was long. When i hit a certain age my mom began straightening it. When i got older i didnt know what i was doing and straightened my hair like it was no tomorrow and had very little knowledge about my hair. Now I'm older and I'm finding all these thing out and my eyes were opened. ....Today i cut off all my super straight, damaged ends and i feel liberated! Kimberly you have really inspired me, and i enjoy watching your videos and i will definitely take your advice girl!
My hair is high porosity and ive recently found that applying my leave in to soaking wet hair or damp hair after I rinse out the deep conditioner works best for me, then a seal with my hair butter from Shescentit. And put 2 braids in my hair and my hair stays moisturized for a few days, if I squeezed the braid it feels damp but my hands will be dry. I wet my hair in the shower also
Thank You for this video. I have been natural for 5 years and this is the major problem that I have been trying to get a head of and can’t but now you have gave me a lot of tips to follow and I may have a chances to beat this dryness and begin to obtain some moisture now. Thank You again and keep them video coming on Low Porosity hair.
My daughter just came in to see who I'm listening to and she said "she's so pretty!" Well, I'ma bout ta send her this video just for that "face" and co-sign. Yeah girl. You besta tie yo hed up! Uugh! Thank you Beautiful! Very helpful tips.
Hi Kim! I'm really grateful for you. I have a few questions (a lot actually) 1)how hot should the water be when you're letting the shower hit your hair? 2)do you do the shower moisturizing when you have a style in? Like a wash and go? 3) my hair also breaks off trying to run my hands through my hair. How often should I be doing the shower water thingy? 5) cotton draws moisture, should I use another type of t-shirt? What kind do you recommend? 6) you said to stop replying on products to moisturize your hair in another video, does this mean my hair would be properly moisturized with just the shower warm water routine? 7) you also said that stylers must contain humectants in another video, can I just add honey or glycerin on my own to the product? 8)also you said you wash your hair every 3-4 days in another video, with shampoo or conditioner? Thank you so much Kim. I appreciate you a lot. PS: I literally hear your voice in my head if I don't tie my hair with a satin scarf before I sleep
You’re so beautiful & I love your videos because you’re so detailed and easy to understand! You’ve been such a great help during my transition journey. Like yourself, I use the mane choice and I mix my deep conditioners! Keep the videos coming & God bless you!!

I've been natural for a long time but I have recently become more intentional about taking care of my hair and my daughter's since she began to care. You seem to be dedicated to the cause, and even though you look 12-14, I take you very seriously. Thanks for real ✌️❤️
I want to try this. I was told ppl have different types of hair, and though this may be true, I think they would still need the same nutrients, because it’s still hair. Thank you fro uploading 😉🥳

@@robinnelson18 It's a consistency thicker than a cream 😊 but it's not solid. Like Carols Daughter coco creme butter and Camille Rose curlaide. Also Garnier Fructis has a new product called Curl Treat styling butter that's good too. 💕
I just started falling in love with wash and go’s and now they are my go-they style for the week. So how do you maintain a moisturizing scheduling when you’re doing wash and go’s?
Thanks, this was so informative! My daughter decided to go natural and she's not a person that's really into hairstyles, I mean she's always had the long ponytail and wrap styles. Natural was a big change(4 me) especially since she thinks I'm her personal stylist!☺ Anyway, been a struggle, but what I just saw gives me hope! Will definitely have her subscribe to your channel!!! ☺
Thank you for these tips. Listening to you reminds me of when I was taking care of my hair and it how it flourished doing just what you are saying. Hey girl this video was truly helpful and definitely going to use your hair tips because i want where my natural hair out love ❤️ ya girl and I always wear a hair bonet 💕😌🙏🏼-Danyelle
Hi I love your videos😍. I live in Italy where I can't find products for curly hair 😤 So I have a question...... can I use milk as leaving conditioner?? Then seal it with oil?? Which leave in do you recommend me maybe I'll buy from amazon 😍😍😍
Thank you so much we need more videos 😉😉😉😉😉 how do you keep your hair moisturize throughout the week until the next wash day and my hair on my right side curl pattern isn’t as curly as the left side of my head advice please and what if you experiences fizz and puffy hair at the ends use a heavy gel
So first off thank you sis! Just found your channel today and my hair is ready for this growth Lord! I have a question. A couple. How often do you moisturize your hair? How often do you wash and deep condition? Also, can your hair grow without regularly trimming it?

Omg i can’t tell you how much time i spent not taking care of my hair AS LOW POROSITY hair!!!! took a while to figure out. but you’re a lifesaver, honestly. 😁Thanks girl! #newsubbie 💜
I watched your video on not using oils for you hair, do you still not use oils much? Today I did my wash n go for the very first time without any oils! My hair feels great! I have high porosity hair too, so I'm a lil concerned with moisture. What would you recommend for me?
Question for you Kim or any low porosity beauty reading this , When washing or co washing is done do you close your hair cuticle with cold water? Or do you wait until after you've added all the moisturizing products to your hair ?
R Dumas i don’t close mine with cold water because i want my leave ins and milks to penetrate. I don’t run water on my hair after applying styling products so it wouldn’t work for me. Hope this makes sense
Kimberly Cherrell ok cool I understand ! So you just seal your moisture in with oils. I feel the same works for me but I've watch so many YT vids talking about the importance of closing the cuticles with cold water to retain moisture . So Thank you for this vid!
What milk products for low porosity hair should I use I'm new to this I thought I was doing well but every thing I was doing was wrong and my hair is dry and nothing I do helps it drinks it up like water heeeeellllp please😫🙏🙏💓
Some ppl graduated from Google University... And no I'm not talking about yall...other videos are very untrue and makes ur hair weter not healthier and look things up on Google but this is a very good video

I think for your tip #9 you meant to advise that we avoid “silicones” because they coat the hair. I believe you said sulfates. Good info, though.

Tamara honestly, sistas are trying to be helpful online but understanding the true science behind hair chemistry is a little bit more involved than just porosity levels. Not every CG method has been reliable for me, such as co-washing. My hair was always dry afterwards when I did it. It doesn't make sense to co-wash for black women because we usually only wash our hair once a week anyway and with clogged hair follicles your hair can't receive new moisture. THIS was fun I never use to put bonnet in my hair
Omg i can’t tell you how much time i spent not taking care of my hair AS LOW POROSITY hair!!!! took a while to figure out. but you’re a lifesaver, honestly. 😁Thanks girl! #newsubbie 💜
If you normally wash your hair weekly how often should you shampoo it and co wash it ?
Good tips. I love your hair. It looks so bouncy and healthy. Btw, you favor one of my cousins soo much
Kim, what are the conditioners that you mixed together?
Made me wanna go shower just to moisture my hair 😂😂
It's been 4 days since I first watched your video and I hear your voice every night "you besta put that bonnet on!" 😉😂🤷♀
i’ve been using coconut oil and water
Loved your personality!! 😂 Great video.
I love your personality......... and imma try to put my bonnet on 🤣🤣🤣🤣💕
Your hair is so beautiful
What is the difference between milks and smoothies?? I'm in the transition state. I need help getting my curls to their full potential.😬
I watched your video on not using oils for you hair, do you still not use oils much? Today I did my wash n go for the very first time without any oils! My hair feels great! I have high porosity hair too, so I'm a lil concerned with moisture. What would you recommend for me?
Nope i still don’t use oils 😊
So Thank you for this vid!
your teeth are so white
What milk products for low porosity hair should I use I'm new to this I thought I was doing well but every thing I was doing was wrong and my hair is dry and nothing I do helps it drinks it up like water heeeeellllp please😫🙏🙏💓
Thank you so much for this I currently invested in a shea moisture shampoo because I used to use sulfates and they were not doing me justice !
Thoroughly enjoyed your presentation!
Best video I’ve seen. I’m going to do this
I hardly ever comment BT damn! this video is legit✌✌👌 and you're so cute😆
Some ppl graduated from Google University... And no I'm not talking about yall...other videos are very untrue and makes ur hair weter not healthier and look things up on Google but this is a very good video
How will you know if your hair is high or low porosity.
What do you think about pre-pooing?
I do it every time. When I do it, my hair is still moisturized after shampooing.s
