  • On today's show we have a Chevy avalanche in for a radio upgrade. At first we thought it was going to be a simple radio swap, then found out he had Bose. There was no sound coming from the speakers, he didn't realize he had a bad Bose amplifier. We are going to show you how to figure out if it's the speakers, the amp, or the radio that is bad. We are also going to show you how to bypass factory Bose amp. We hope you enjoy, thank you for watching.

After watching this video slowly & pausing it
Here’s all the wire colors & pin configurations needed
This is for trucks with the Bose premium sound system (Amp in center Console) 9 speakers (sub in center)
    (Low audio signal= tweeters)
Currently I’m not using the factory sub but will be trying to do a bypass to get it working outside of using the factory amp to power it

For your factory subwoofer to work you need to disconnect the other connector on the amp
With the push-in clip on top the pin count goes from H-E (top row)
      A-D (bottom row)
Depending on your vin code (UQ7 or Y91) the colors will be in different locations
I used T-taps to connect the subwoofer with rear speaker channels without
It connected you will only get mids & hi’s (No Bass)
      A) BLK/WHT = Ground
      B) DK BLU/WHT = Left subwoofer (+)
      C) DRK GRN = Right Subwoofer (+)
      D) (NOT USED)
      E) BARE = DRAIN WIRE
      F) LT BLU/BLK = Right subwoofer (-)
      G) LT GRN/BLK = Left subwoofer (-)
      H) ORN = Battery positive voltage

I just installed a after market stereo in my 06 silverado everything is good but you know how in these trucks when we turn the truck off the stereo stays on for a couple min and then shuts off itself or it shuts off when we open the door? I don't quite understand why you spent so much time rewiring that harness connector. You put in an aftermarket deck and aftermarket speakers so why didn't you just run new speaker wire too? It would have taken about the same amount of time. I am not suggesting you don't know what you are doing or that you are skimping...because you don't...you guys do a marvelous job at this stuff.

Couldn't you just take the harness and just use the wires that are already in it? Removing any unnecessary wires. Then solder needed bypass wires together? Without using 2 harnesses and taking them both apart ect? All you lose is the bose amp correct? So no more onstar or bose amp but if you're not replacing your door speakers.. they will still work right? Just no amp only head unit power? I hope my multiple questions make sense to whoever reads this. I've been dying to install my system in my 05 hd2500 crew cab but don't want to deal with the bose/onstar steering wheel controls interface crap. Is this my solution?

Hey bog fan of y'all's. Idk if yall did but yall should cover that amp bypass more. I have a 02 chevy suburban put a after market radio in it no sound. My truck didn't have any markings saying it was a bose system . So i beat my brains on dash. Found out even of not a bose system it still has factory amp. Found the thing about pink wire on second harness jumped it to remote still nothing. Baahes brains out more then i found out about the amp bypass. Point is i dont see meny people cover this and would probably help alot out if it was covered more. I know y'all do a video by job .and thanks yall helped me on alot of head bashings 😂

I removed the harness and tried to bare wire it. Can't figure out which wires go to what speakers. All forums give specific wire colors but my 03 Tahoe doesn't have those color wires

I'm sure this is a little old for my question to be answered but I will ask anyway because I am about to do an install and dont want to fry my head unit. So if you leave the tweeters connected to the front channels with the 4ohm kickers that wont create an ohm overload and fry the head unit?

My 03 has a touch screen pioneer keeps popping my ignition fuse and seems to drain my battery and truck won't start unless I take disconnect and take the radio out any idea why it does that? Also before ignition fuse pops my cluster dims down and goes crazy while truck is on and once I turn truck off it does not wanna start unless the fuse replaced and radio is out . Had a local audio shop install it they did the bose amp bypass with the plug

Would the Metra 70-2021 be what you made ? I just ordered it. And I’m keeping my factory radio. Pretty sure the Bose amp in my 06 Yukon xl is out.

Thank God for YT. 03 Silverado with new 7600NEX. Well plugging it into the same plug as the factory unit didn't or doesn't work. Bose bypass the easy way, plug the new unit into the speakers behind the stereo. Yes you loose the tweeters, but I imagine you loose they at the amp anyway. The new speakers came as a component system so I will run some new tweeter wires down to the door speaker's and install the cross overs, tweeters back. F Bose!!!

Can you provide a pinout with colors, just like you made it, for the bypass of the bose amp?

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500hd. An aftermarket Kenwood and the PAC interface installed to keep the onstar and steering wheel control. One day the stereo shutoff and didn’t turn back on. I think the interface module went back so I called a local shop and they told me to bypass the module with a single power wire. I did that and the radio turned back on. Now I hear a relay click on and off and when it does the speakers shut off but the stereo is still on. The speaker wires run through the pac module, down to the amp and back out to the speakers. So I did the amp bypass plug you made and the speakers still play sound but at a very low volume. I have to max out the stereo to hear anything coming out of them. I don’t care for on star. Only the steering wheel control and speakers. I have an aftermarket amp and sub I want to install. Should I replace the PAC module or how do I completely bypass the Bose stuff and run a stereo and speakers only

@Five Star Car Stereo I know this video is old. But I'm not too knowledgeable in this area. But I was wondering if there is a harness or T harness that I can use for a '11 Grand Cherokee? It does have a sub. I want to bypass the oem amp but would like to use all original wires and not cut anything if possible. I just want a harness that will plug in and give me leads to hook up to a 5 channel amp. Thank you for your time.

I have a question, I have a 2005 GMC Sierra with the Bose system. If I wanted to install the small pioneer class d brick amplifier, would I just need to bypass the Bose like you did? How would I then connect the power to it if the same plug you used was bypassed looped? Or did I not understand how the wiring would go to a new one? Please help.
