I am new to your show, but I have enjoyed every episode. I have to say this one is something special. I went through Bardstown a few months back, and I wish I had seen this before I went. Now it just makes me want to go back.
I grew up in Bardstown. Your episode was really nice and brought back many memories. My brother also decided to take his own life. My condolences to you. I've eaten at Talbot Tavern many times. So much history there.
Yeah. TBH is was much more "industrial" and less educational. It was cool seeing the decommissioned still used for the WWII effort, but you won't be missing anything if you go on a different tour at a different distillery.
My wife and I travel from East Texas to Cleveland Ohio, two time a year and we always stop in Bardstown for a day or two, we really enjoy the the town. I been to most of the places you mentioned. I learned new stuff.
You guys are making want to go back. We live in Tennessee and visit Kentucky often ,but Bardstown is a bit farther up for day trips. Four Rose's has a smaller facility that they bottle in. A nice gift shop that they sell a single barrel that's only available there,so ,pretty cool. The Tavern has great eats and you can stay there.
Going way back in the BRT history here. My family got me a distillery tour for my birthday next month. There's six of us going to the Detroit Distillery which is located in the old Stroh's beer building. Wife and I both had uncles that worked for Stroh's so a bit of more history for us. Really looking forward to this trip and see how everything is made,
That's awesome! The Detroit Distillery tour sounds like it will be a great experience for you and your family, especially with the added personal connection to the location. I hope you enjoy it and learn a lot about the whiskey-making process. Have you visited any other distilleries before or is this your first one?
That renegade, outlaw feller was Jesse James. There is a bullet alleged to be from James' six-shooter, lodged in the wall in one of the dining rooms at the Talbott. Pretty badass if you ask me. 🖤♠️🤘
@@BourbonRealTalk I love that you guys have this channel. I live in bourbon capital so I guess I've never much thought on watching people on UA-cam (when it comes to bourbon). Have a blessed week! You guys are living the freaking dream. Much love 🖤♠️🤘
I always stopped at Bartons whenever I went to Bardstown, 14 times in all. I would take the Estate Tour, they only took 5 people at a time because you ride on a golf cart. Sadly they stopped giving tours, probably because of what you mentioned. You park you car and trucks are driving right there. And you know how some people are when they have their noses in therir phone. And just to drive around Bardstown to look at some of the old houses.
My brother-in-law and I spent two days there last week. The Talbot Inn and Tavern was a great place as well. 1792 will be ending the tours at the end of this month. Not to be a Whiskey Troll.....buuut they are giving tours at Lux Row, with a tasting at the end I think it was 15 dollars a person, we really enjoyed it.
Did the KY and TN bourbon trail last month. Hit 10 distilleries. Bardstown was great. Heaven Hill was a great tour missed Lux Row getting to Buffalo Trace. Want to get back for the Bourbon festival.
Great video! Bourbon trail is on the horizon next year and this video gave me a bunch of new info to help plan the trip. Thanks a ton guys! P.S. Do you have a recommended time of year to do the bourbon trail?
We usually go during spring or fall when the weather is mild. A couple of times it snowed in the morning without making the roads dangerous. One of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever witnessed.
@@BourbonRealTalk Perfect! Thanks a ton! We’re headed for Munich for Oktoberfest this year but I wanted all the info possible for the bourbon trail to get the most out of the experience. The history and opportunities are getting me excited
Sounds like a great time! Maybe someday I’ll plan a trip! It looks like on your shelf to your right there’s a Jacob’s Pardon? I have a 2023 18yr 141 proof bottle. If it is what do you think of this product?
I've been to KY three times. Great place to visit overall and one thing to NOT miss is the tour of the State Capitol building in Frankfort. Absolutely stunning!
I recommend you break it up into 3 trips that are 4 day 3 night trips. Check the schedules of the places you want to visit so you pick the right days. For instance, a lot of the things to do in Louisville are closed Monday and Tuesday.
My son and I stayed the night in Talbot tavern. Interesting experience, but the WORSE beds I've ever had at a hotel. My army bunks in basic would be considered luxury compared to them. We had a room with two twins and they just sagged in the middle. No support at all.
Awesome info guys!!! You got me really wanting to take a trip there. Wes I thought I heard you say that you had a channel as well. Would love to see it and subscribe please leave the link. Thanks so much guys!!!
NO trolling here fam but please DO NOT disrespect bourbon by referring to it as whiskey. While it is bourbon whiskey the difference between bourbon and whiskey is bourbon comes out at 150 proof or above before aging. As a connoisseur of Bourbon I make sure to distinguish between the 2! Happy drinking fellas!!
I am unsure if you are being funny or not, so I will comment as if you mean what you are saying. All bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. There are a lot of things that are different about bourbon from other categories of whiskey, but bourbon coming out at 150 proof or above is not one of them. This might help: ua-cam.com/video/t6YheQcwmLk/v-deo.html
I’ve literally never been so excited for anything more in my life than to visit Bardstown
You will have a great time! So much to do and historical sites to see.
Heading to Kentucky tomorrow and Bardstown is on the list. thanks for all the great info!

I hate it that the Barton’s distillery tour is no longer available. This was one that I was definitely looking forward to. 😞

The Mexican restaurant that was the first place you showed in the video, was where my brother-in-law ate before we went to Lux Row.
They have some good bottles there!
I enjoyed the episode, it was very informative, I will probable never get to go, but love to one day.
Glad you enjoyed it! You should go. Not sure where you will be traveling from, but it can be very affordable if you plan right.
I always plan trips around good food!!
I can't speak highly enough about the pan fried chicken at BBC! Have you gone to BBC before?
1792 is one of my favorite visits.
I am not sure I have been on a tour available to the public. I have been on a couple of private tours when doing barrel picks, and they were amazing.

It is a fun trip. You could go multiple times and still not see everything.
Is Heaven Hill the main distillery in Bardstown?
Awesome, I'm in the cool kid club!! Got my grenade at Heaven Hill last month

I may have to check that out.
I used to clean the rooms, bar and lobby at Talbot tavern. It’s ok lol
😂
Love the video. I’m ready to make the trip. How long would you suggest you plan to go to do it all well?

Bartons doesn't do tours anymore, lux row does do tours.
Barton stopped since we filled this. I was just wrong about Lux Row.

Sorry to hear that. We didn't stay there, but good to know.
We plan on going this May after we go to see the ARK.
Have fun!
Is the bottle your own a single barrel expression?
I believe it was.
Nice
Thanks
It is my understanding that 1792 will no longer offer tours. I was told this and have not contacted the distillery to verify it.
I am not sure I have been on a tour available to the public. I have been on a couple of private tours when doing barrel picks, and they were amazing.
Sadly they are discontinuing public tours at the end of this month.

Wes's channel is on Tiktok and it is @bourbontoks
just FYI Herradurra is pronounced " *ERR'* -uh DOO-ruh" and means Horseshoe
Thanks!
I found a place by me charging $40 for a one and a half ounce pour of EH Taylor single barrel. Not sure if that's a good price. I passed.
That is pretty expensive for SiB. For the barrel proof maybe, but not the SiB.
@@BourbonRealTalk glad I passed then. Thanks for the reassurance.
Just don't plan on finding a good meal in Frankfort when you go to Buffalo Trace !
I don't remember if we ate there. I think we headed back to Louisville.
FYI - no more 1792 tours
Also Heaven Hill is bringing a distillery back to Bardstown. also good luck getting grenades.
