This tour has showed me that Lances teams were under rated for helping him keep safe in the peloton. Not to mention the skills on the bike to not crash.
As I always say, Lance simply played by the rules as they had already been established before he started racing in the Tour... you either use PEDs and compete for victories, or you stay clean and accept defeat. And the UCI quietly condoned the doping, especially when it came to Lance who very quickly became their cash cow.
You don't and your domestiques and mechanics don't like you for not helping them make some extra money at races while they do everything they can, so that you could. 😉
I'm the same Lance I will only get on my bike from the left-hand side, I also always put my left glove on first , whether riding my bike or motorbike I do the same .......great show guys great insights into the sport
Lance, can you get his autograph for us? His start is Merckx like even though we know he is doping like you. But he has the Merckx panache. 3 jerseys 2 years is amazing. This kid had balls.
As a french and a cycling fan, I think there are some valid reason for being sceptic about high level performances. Firstly, the majority of spectators know nothing about cycling, and never watch any race beside the Tour. So the only knowledge they get is from the media. The problem is, the media ask people that have a bit of knowledge and express some doubts. I think it's ok to have doubts, but for the random that read/watch the media report, they only thing they keep in mind is that this guy is winning so he must be doped. A cycling fan may have doubt and still enjoy the show, being respectfull of the rider because he has no proof. A random will go straight to the booing step because he's clueless and influenced by the media (and most likely dumb). Secondly, in french we have a habit of rooting for the 2nd. That could be it too... Sorry Lance but I always wanted Jan to drop you, and 2003 was the most epic tour de France I watched, until that roundabout ... (even though you were probably going to win). Same for the Froome era, I was always rooting for someone else (except 2017 when he wasn't the strongest). It also has to do with the team. As Yohann said, if the strongest rider is in the strongest team, it's a nightmare : as a spectator you know that nothing can be done to change the outcome. Nice show by the way, very entertaining.
Exactly! I LOVE the guy for going for the throat and showing those guys whose boss. If the French fans don't like it...too bad. They'd love it if a French rider was doing it. Oh, wait...French riders don't win this race anymore.
I wonder if the cash bonus for the stage win will influence whether Pogacar goes for the win or not, $20K is not a bad for a day's work, plus what the UAE sponsors pay him on top of that for the win, then again maybe he wants the Polka Dot jersey win to? just a thought...

I love the show but didn't really like what was said about French people. I am French and we keep supporting champions. Serena is very popular in France when she plays in RG and Nadal who's won so many times is also a great example. The reason French people can be a little bit prudent on recent cyclist champions stems from what happened in the past and all of the bad stories that happened during the tour with the doping. A bit of suspicion can totally be understandable then.

Yeah I just mean like the organizers and broadcasters take that technology and do something similar. They have access to the timing chips surely they could figure it out
I'm not French, but I have always admired killer instincts, starting with Eddie Merckx. The Badger was a killer as well. He won 4 stages while in yellow. Granted, he WAS French. Pogacar just doesn't want to lose.
Wout van Aert will win the time trial? I don't THINK so. I'm thinking maybe that young guy called Pogačar, or perhaps that other youngster, Jonas Vingegaard, who seems to be getting stronger all the time.
Does the TDF need an Orange jersey to mitigate Pogacar beat downs? Pogacar would be required to brake 100m before the finish giving other riders a chance to win the stage and earn the Orange jersey. /s
Look at MLB too. They go nuts when you hit a homer with a certain count or if they have a position pitcher in. It’s stupid. It’s a competition win if you can. Be a sportsmen, just as Pogacar is.
hey Lance, George, and Crew- thanks for all you do, lending your expertise on the subject of TDF. Just want to say, Lance: you may continue poking fun of hippy culture ONLY if you can make it through a hot yoga class at Bikram Yoga Aspen. If you are unable to stand for the entire class (that's right, not even counting doing the postures) you may continue poking fun at hippies. If however you are not able to stand for the duration of the 90 minute class, you may continue to poke fun at hippie culture but must in the same breath admit to sitting down when Grandma was still in her posture. Good luck, you will need it. If you pass, I'll challenge you and George to my local climb up Hwy 9 from Saratoga since I will certainly not be privileged enough to visit Aspen. cheers
I don’t get the politics. The best rider should always go 100% on each race. If they win every single stages, then he was the best rider. Period. The idea of letting someone else win a stage just because is weird to me. I would never want to win a stage because someone “let me win” that’s weak shit.
if that's the case, Roglic should have raced the last day from last year's Tour and win the thing with his clearly stronger team. Tadej rode their wheels the entire tour and did a little TT at the end and won like a little prick. That's not a champion to me, that's simply a weaselly opportunist...
That's the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Literally the reason why WWE and some martial arts competitions are unwatchable for anyone with higher standards than the grunting/drooling/low-IQ crowds at those events. Trash talk and playing dirty is the last thing any sports needs
I wondered if you saw anything that looked familiar because it reminds me of how lance was and no one is asking why. Just like they didn't ask with lance history repeating but will it have the same result
It's stupid that politics (public impression) has anything to do with cycling. If you can crush your competition without hurting yourself and your chances at winning the race, crush them. You're not there to make friends, you're there to win yellow jerseys.
This is what non-cycling fans do not understand about the sport. Not saying it's good or bad. Just saying that there are many unwritten rules in cycling that will get you fans or lose you fans in France.
@@michaeldwilson1471 As Johan said this is part of French sport culture. In other countries like Spain and Italy they adore champions and amazing performances but in France they cheer for the weaklings which is pathetic.
@@РуменДоспатлиев It's incorrect to say that France just celebrates losers. Of course, the French celebrate lots of champions, but they often care just as much *how* a rider win as whether he wins. The peloton too. That's why the peloton sometimes waits if a leader has a puncture or unlucky fall from, say, a musette bag, rather than go full gas while he's down.
I wonder why Pog might get heat, where as Cav, who could possibly win 6 stages gets love? By the way, I don't understand anyone feeling great if they are gifted a win. I wouldn't.
Cavendish is getting love because he returned as an old underdog. Ten years ago, especially before the British started riding bicycles in 2012, Cavendish was the bad boy of cycling. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't want a gift from Pogacar. If I'm Enric Mas, I'd rather go toe to toe against Pogacar and lose than "win" a stage against him, because he was trying to create a likeable persona for the French.
That's because he wasn't challenged by Roglič. Remember last year when they went duo at the end of the climb and you could only guess who's gonna make it.
Oh F that! If you're the best you go for the win! This world is going to shit because you're worried about other peoples feelings. This is a race! Ffs.

I'm not French, but I have always admired killer instincts, starting with Eddie Merckx. The Badger was a killer as well. He won 4 stages while in yellow. Granted, he WAS French. Pogacar just doesn't want to lose.
Merckx is Belgian
@@Lmntcoach73 I know. Hinault was French. Sorry I was confusing.
No sir you’re right, I totally skipped the Badger reference, you were right!!
@@tommccafferty5591 You did say "The Badger was a killer as well" which was true. You didn't say Merckx was the Badger. Hinault was truly a killer.
Lance, did you let Pantani win on the mountaintop finish?
Ask Pantani...
He always said he regretted that. Never give away a win.
@@alphaniner3770 you know he’s gone right! Don’t make fun of the dead⚔️
Wout van Aert will win the time trial? I don't THINK so. I'm thinking maybe that young guy called Pogačar, or perhaps that other youngster, Jonas Vingegaard, who seems to be getting stronger all the time.
Hoo dus? 🤙great show guys, winning is a lonely place. Go Pogačar, go Cac
Does the TDF need an Orange jersey to mitigate Pogacar beat downs? Pogacar would be required to brake 100m before the finish giving other riders a chance to win the stage and earn the Orange jersey. /s
It's sad how toxic the cycling community is. Why would Pogacar doing what he did ever be a bad thing? Only in cycling
Look at MLB too. They go nuts when you hit a homer with a certain count or if they have a position pitcher in. It’s stupid. It’s a competition win if you can. Be a sportsmen, just as Pogacar is.
because they think he's cheating.
and he's not french
@@bigbaz8314 And because every time the french call a guy a cheater, he actually is. Maybe the problem is not the french ....
@@Difdauf is it cheating if they are all at it?
03:41 - 05:35 Why are they saying he should let Mas win?
hey Lance, George, and Crew- thanks for all you do, lending your expertise on the subject of TDF.
100% correct exactly what i was thinking
100% how I feel! The world is going to shit because of feelings... You're the best, you go for the win!
@@dzack02 It's seen in similar light to running up the score on a team that you clearly have beat.
@@dzack02 yes, going to heck because of the feelings of sore loser former presidents.
if that's the case, Roglic should have raced the last day from last year's Tour and win the thing with his clearly stronger team. Tadej rode their wheels the entire tour and did a little TT at the end and won like a little prick. That's not a champion to me, that's simply a weaselly opportunist...
Tadej should continue to Dominate and start Trash Talking. This is the new era and we need some characters.
Full contact cycling 🚴🏼♂️👊😄
That's the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Literally the reason why WWE and some martial arts competitions are unwatchable for anyone with higher standards than the grunting/drooling/low-IQ crowds at those events.
Trash talk and playing dirty is the last thing any sports needs
"The Tour de France is in France that's the problem." Johan Bruyneel
Pogacar……nickname him the HAMMER!!!
I wondered if you saw anything that looked familiar because it reminds me of how lance was and no one is asking why. Just like they didn't ask with lance history repeating but will it have the same result
The UAE pays him to win!!! Crush them all TADEJ!!
@@williamteasle Since 98, France hates cheaters. No matter what you say, Lance is a cheater not a winner. He totally deserved what he get.
Is there another sport where a player or team would throw a win to an opponent to be nice? Can’t think of one.
It would weigh on you if it was anywhere else but France lance is right they do it all the time to anyone who is winning
Is there something against winning for F_ck sake! Crush em, you never know how long you will be there.
the free lmnt is dope!
So, from now on if Pogacar is in the race I'm going to say anyone who wins was gifted the win.
Excellent
Bc cav isn't doped out of his mind
I'm surprised, instead making accusations anonymously on the internet, you should take your evidence to the French authorities, oh hang on.. 😅
Pogacar was only 5 seconds slower than lances best time up luz ardidan
That's because he wasn't challenged by Roglič. Remember last year when they went duo at the end of the climb and you could only guess who's gonna make it.

You called it right, Lance. It is Pogacar Tour de Force 2020-2030!

Oh F that! If you're the best you go for the win! This world is going to shit because you're worried about other peoples feelings. This is a race! Ffs.
Pog is champ. He's the best he should win as many stages as he can!
Lance are you a horse rider as well?
I'm not sure about Lance, but Sylvain Chavenel has an entirely new horse-based career since he left pro cycling! ua-cam.com/video/eFXGrPieDbU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Equidia
There are only so many clicks in life and you don’t ever get them back
So you better know that when you give away your wins …. No problem if you do but know you don’t get them back
38:50 Lance killing Phil Gaimon epo monster
I like the podcast, but Lance can't be taking pot shots at Phil. Lance is one of the reasons why a lot of commercial sponsors left cycling.
@@herielalvarez9118 Phil always takes shots at Lance & the boys for what happened back in the day, if you give it, you gotta take it....
Lance made companies like trek what they are today, whether you like it or not, Lance is the reason the cyclist industry had its first boom in 2000’s. Walk into any bike shop that’s been open since 2000, they will thank Lance
UAE still needs Dennis, Soler and Almeida to make it UAE train next year!
9 minutes worth of bills for Uran? That’s Lance every day on the podcast 😂 just messin with ya, still love you guys though, no matter how many sponsors you try to push . Obviously you’re doing something right if all these companies want a piece of you guys
Let the others win?? How is that even sport? The best man wins. It's like in Slovenia , people really, I mean REALLY, resent Pogačar because he didn't let Roglič win the Tour last year. They're saying Tadej is young and could win many times, when as Roglič is having his last years in cycling. I find that very disturbing.
