6:22 What makes this ordeal just as surprising/terrifying is that Surge was able to reveal Sonic as The Phantom Rider in front of the entire crowd, and now of all times.
For Surge and Kit's plan, the inference is that by revealing Sonic's identity and their orders to destroy him, they're letting the whole world that Clutch wanted Sonic (an almost universally beloved hero) dead. Which is bound to cause some outcry.
For Clutch, and maybe Sonic. Granted, I think she underestimates Sonic’s heroic reputation. Sure, there may be some aginst him now for taking up a secret identity and endangering people. But, the fact is Sonic’s saved the world many times, and people know at this point, the he hedgehog doesn’t doing anything without a good reason. He’s a bold, adventurer, seeking thrills, not a dumb delinquent that was born yesterday. Sonic’s reputation will recover and people will still like him. As for Clutch? He may not recover from this. But for Surge and Kit? The public could go either way seeing them as heroes, or chaotic outcasts. Even if they do chose to become heroes at some point, they could just as easily loose people’s trust. Or Surge and Kit could split.
This arc in Sonic is really reaching epic points at with each new issue. I am loving Clutch as a villain, it is interesting seeing him aiming to control all events of his plan only to see the X-factors slowly break those plans.
