Bean is actually a hybrid woodpecker/duck as he was canonically confirmed to be the son of one of the Dynamite Düx character "Bin"

Wasn't the 8th chaos emerald cause by your clone character in Sonic the Fighters. Maybe that's why Sonic said there wasn't such a thing as an 8th chaos emerald because he knows the real truth. And maybe that's why we don't see the 8th emerald because Sonic destroyed his clone and took the emerald copy. Use it, and after that, it disappeared or disintegrated since the clone was dead. I think the fang mini series is going to explain what happened to it and why it's gone!😮
Would have been more interesting if the Eighth Emerald is tied to the Hidden Palace Zone and serves a special role as a purifier to the corrupted Chaos Emeralds or what have you.

it isn't caused by the clone, in the intro it shows all 8 characters having a chaos emerald each. Maybe the one fang stole was fake

16:00 I like Sonic as a jerk. He's always had that edge that separates him from the Mario's and superman's of fiction. My favorite parts are when he gets his come upings rare as they be.
Since I haven't seen anyone address it - one of the possibilities Fang mentions for the 8th Emerald's color is "kinda rainbow, but apparently has smaller Emeralds inside it". That is a direct callback to the opening of Sonic Blast, where a color changing Emerald is shown shattering and revealing five smaller monochrome ones inside.
Fun Fact: Fang, Bean and Bark as a team was not a concept created in Archie. The idea predates Archie itself
They were originally going to be a team in Sonic Heroes, way back in 2003, and would return just like the Chaotix did, there would also be a team with Mighty, Ray and Metal Sonic, and even other teams such as Gamma, Big and Chaos surprisingly, also some teams would be different, for example Team Rose would be Amy, Cream and Rouge, buuuut those teams were all scrapped, along with Fang, Bean and Bark who were completly scrapped, and Shadow being revived from the dead
Only years later, in 2006, Bean and Bark were introduced as a duo in Archie, and then only in 2010 they finally became a team how it was originally intended in Sonic Heroes
And then after Archie, the games started normally making these 3 characters always togheter, with their posters in Generations in 2011, being one alongside the other, and then in Mania in 2017 with, again, the posters and the Heavy Magician cloning the 3 of them
And did Nack/Fang have a sister in Archie Sonic pre SGW named Nic/Nicolette the Weasel?

@@conradojavier7547 considering how close of an eye SEGA / Sonic Team have been keeping on IDW, I doubt any family / heritage will ever be added any time soon, at least for the game cast. (Ik Jet technically has a father mentioned but I doubt we'll actually see what he looks like)
@@spookyblook Jet's father comes from the games, that's why he is mentioned and can be mentioned in the comics because everything from the games is fine to use
In the original Sonic Riders Jet says that his father was the one who gave him the Babylon Garden key, and it's theorized that the picture Jet has above his window on his office that appears in Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity is a picture of Jet's father (which I believe it's true)
In Sonic Riders' manual it also says that Wave has (or had) a father, unlike Jet's it isn't stated if he is alive or not, but it is mentioned that Wave's father was in a team along Jet's father
Bean is also another character who always had a father, in Fighters Megamix guidebook it is mentioned that Bin from Dynamite Dux is Bean's father (after all, Bin was the inspiration for Bean's creation, since Dynamite Dux is a SEGA game developed by AM2 who later made Sonic the Fighters)
Cartoony antics in a comic set the mood quite well.
Honestly makes me glad that Guntz the wolf from Klonoa, is a bounty hunter who only goes after criminals. Afterall it's better then being some outlaw.

I think the secretly being a softie part is also there because of the guide for Fighters Megamix. It’s where Bean’s dad is confirmed to be Bin Dynamite.

I love how they consistently use the SA1 shrine. It actually makes a cohesive continuity with the Classics and Moderns.
I’m just wondering is this story is going to explain how our trio of hooligans came to be. Sonic the Fighters originally claimed that Bean and Bark were Sonic’s friends, acquaintances at worst, who were personally trusted with an Emerald each. Fang simply stole his, though it’s never explained from who.

@@mediamuncher69 Still unlikely, Amy was treated as a non-combatant by the Sonic canon until Fighters and she wasn’t taken seriously until Adventure, Advance, and Battle finally kitted her out. So there’s honestly way better candidates to trust an Emerald with than the little girl playing with toy hammers… at least until the Archie Comics (post-Issue 252 and Worlds Unite, which confirmed more to the games), the IDW Comics (which became games canon thanks to Forces Speed Battle and Frontiers), Origins, and Superstars basically turned Amy into a more active ally to Sonic’s adventures retroactively.
Are we waiting until October 2024 for the Knuckles Anniversary? That is the month when Sonic & Knuckles came out.
I’m honestly surprised you didn’t play the intro theme from AOSTH when Sonic was first fighting Fang’s Gang.
December 2024 is also the release of Sonic Movie 3.
really like they brought back knuckles originally being a real trickster on his turf & in fighters to explain the 8th emerald spot your character gets cloned to have a fight with your character so it likely was that.(also in some sources i remember the hooligans that shot the tornado down were the real ones while the boss fight was the heavy magician illusions.)

Hm, this was a nice and interesting Start, an Eighth Chaos Emerald, huh? I wonder what could be about? Something we know about or something else, I guess we’ll see.
As for the Ship, it might have something to do with Eggman by the end of it, but we’ll see how that goes.
That's what I was saying on Twitter! I mean come on, we are talking about classic Sonic here, aka younger Sonic. Of course modern Sonic and classic sonic in the IDW comics would have a slight change of maturity
