How did they turn shadow to such an idiot hyper edge lord ??? if that's the case, then it's a real shame that shadow doesn't have some kind of, chaos energy teleportation to get to a safe location, or rocket shoes that let him fly up and hover in the air, or some kind of chaos energy explosion to use, yup, there's absolutely nothing he could've done to escape the zombots/s.

@@alimowla3204 The Zombots really are only as strong as the story needs them to be really. One moment can Sonic casually get rid of a horde of Zombots in just one Sonic Heavy(from Sonic Battle) and the next can shadow not even move when put into an identical situation. But yes the Zombots are really badly power scaled which is one of the big problems when it comes to the tensions of the arc (others being moronic characters, Sonic's ability to run them off despite having by comparison to Amy, Cream, Knuckles and Shadow far worse regenerative abilities (as shown in both the lore of the games as well in Sonic Battles heal skills) being not explained at all and not of the tech guy's (Tails, Wave maybe if he exist Dr. Fukurokov and if Free Riders is to be taken seriously Cream (even through the map at the start of the issue shows very much that Ian ignores Cream's in that game established technical skills) working on a cure so far The pacing that so far is a one to one copy of the previous story complete with Shadow battle in part 2 of a 2 part story like in the Neo Metal Sonic arc.(seriously even Sailor moon has better seasonal pacing) This story is just dump Also because I already mentioned it and its actually relevant for these story tension would I like to mention that Cream's map actually causes some problems by showing locations from Shadow the hedgehog and Sonic Battle on it both are supposedly happening on the human world which causes so many problems that Forces also already had with Team Darks treatment in the story (episode Shadow in particular) and really ask the questions where are the United Federations Reinforcements? Especially given that Eggman's plan this time even is to first transform this world and than have his slaves build weapons for him to conquer other worlds. Sorry for going on so long already again but it really bothers me.
I like our reviews. Ok, now I see is going repetitive, but sometimes I see other games, cartoons, movies and comics that sometimes I forget to see the problems in ever media, combined that I don't know how to make a good script. But I see many good reviews to see where you can improve the script, no reviews that they hate for no reason or that their reasons have nothing to do with media in general. But I admited that Shadow is being a jeckass in this continuity. I miss that personality in Sonic 2006.
Honestly this comic really felt rushed. It honestly felt like they were trying to get Shadow infected as fast as possible just so we could start the next comic out with a Sonic vs. Shadow fight. I will be fair in saying I’m always for seeing these two rivals duke it out but not at the cost of there established character. We know Shadow is smarter then this, this feels less like his ego hitting him in the face and more like rushed writing. This is a two part comic for heaven sakes. And I know you can only fit so much in a comic but come on surly there’s a way they can write this that doesn’t involve butchering there established character. Also good video can’t wait for you to review issue 20 when it’s out

It’d be interesting to see how Sonic reacted if Tails were to get infected. Seeing how Tails faired without Sonic I think flipping the roles could be cool. It could be enough to emotionally break Sonic like Eggman seems to be trying to do.
You know? When I first read this I though Shadow is going to be cool like Leon s Kennedy from Resident Evil in this IDW comic but yeah, as we see right now.
@@oscarm1258 Just to bad that human locations already stated to pop up in the annual. (more so if we count Cream's map from the start of the issue which shows central city and Tails Adventure era workshop (and I believe also Sonic Battle's house for Tails in the previous issue))
Frost/Frostbite The Hobidon CJ Yeah but I kinda feel like Eggman, if he could control Zombot Sonic, would immediately have him promoted, probably to gloat, and Metal’s ego and hatred of Sonic would make him want to fight. Also, if he does get fully infected, Sonic will probably manage to beat it through the true superpower of teamwork.
Seeing this unfold the way it did, things are getting tense. It did well as a small shocker, hindered by repetition. Shadow's hubris and misunderstanding of Sonic's meaning behind "running it off" ultimately proved fruitless. Shadow being a casualty makes sense because he is only able to withstand biological diseases, not largely artificial ones. Sonic's resolve was really tested after getting talked down by Shadow, calling him out for his actions. Recalling the previous issues, shadow's argument has some ground. Not to mention that sonic was thinking about the game cast casualties. Speaking of which: Sonic beginning to get exhausted was inevitable. But given the impressions for the next issue, Sonic is likely to fall to the virus. He knows he can't fight it forever, and given the literal swarm of zombots, those will likely do him in.
I still wonder why he even still thinks that? I dont see how's he ultimate compared to the other characters...he needs rocket skates to almost match sonic's speed, chaos spear? Silver and Blaze have energy attacks, and whisper has a wisp gun but she doesnt claim to be ultimate sniper.
Shadow is like a sayian in a sonic character skin, he can increase his stats and base sonic type skills via chaos energy which he access more than any sonic character even remove his limiters to gain more power. Making him pretty much the strongest character, he's power multiplying version of all the characters you listed plus hes immortal.
Pissed off at Sonic for letting Eggman live and freeing Metal Sonic ? Yes, absolutely Acting like a complete moron, ignoring common sense and spewing bullshit like "Hur dur Ultimate Life Form" "I don't run, I ain't no coward".... That's just bad characterization, and I want to believe that was a Sega Mandate and not a Ian's decision to make his character behave like that
@@newdawnhorizon9879 Actually it's mostly because of Sega as they have to approve the story and art of each issue and until it satisfies them, changes have to be made.

Fun Fact: From the Sonic wikia page on the "Metal Virus", Ian originally planned for this in the Archie Sonic comics around the 300's if it didn't ended so suddenly and abruptly.
Overaching aesop of this arc: -When trouble comes afoot, society will often attempt to find someone to put the blame on. -Even if something bad happens, it isn’t anyone’s fault since nothing is in our control.
At first i was bothered why didn't sonic just go after Eggman and quickly stop this? Then I realized, WE know eventually everyone will be okay, but for Sonic and the others, they have no idea if there even is a cure for this. This might be permanent, and they're making sure everyone is safe until they make a counter attack
Am I the only one who feels Shadow was at least SOMEWHAT out of character here? He turned his Vegeta dial up too much when, at least in my eyes, he's comparatively more level headed and not all 'The Ultimate Life Form never backs down!'.
Shadows out of character level brock my scouter here its ridicules outside of Boom was Shadow only in Team Sonic Racing being written this badly in like EVER. Even his most dickish behavior from Rivals and free Rider can't even compare to this non-sense.
It’s hurts more when you realize he was written right in the other issues he was in. How do you mess up this bad after doing it good the first few times?!
@@melodysmusicaladventures596 I don't know even before in IDW was he never written all that well. While I can get behind him wanting to Kill Eggman when we first see him (even through his aggressive behavior would suggest that he learned nothing out of Battle and Rivals 1) but by the time we reach the Metal fight things just go off the rails with Shadow without telling anyone just going of script for no reason other than to have his Movie Vegeta moment against Metal were he shows off ones than than gets merciless beaten into the ground and makes things actually worse. But this comic just brock the camels back.

The ultimate life plz i know reality would get shadow and now hes infected he reminds me of vegeta a little and this is getting so good what can sonic do now when he faces infected shadow and the zombot
In any case, the gist is that Shadow is a character that requires more nuance and subtlety to write, since the entire foundation of the character is based on nuance and subtlety. It's why people (particularly older fans) have such an issue with him. He really doesn't fit in with the simplistic atmosphere of the current era. Knuckles for example doesn't require as much context because his character isn't as context heavy as Shadow. And even then he required some context given his role is meant to be a stationary one.
So since neither of their roles and nuances fit within the current simplistic and lighthearted era; they're stripped of all nuances and reduced to their most basic traits. Knuckles is the guy who punches things, and Shadow is the angry hotheaded rival.
Ok so I picked up the comic series literally yesterday, and I binged all of them, from 1-19. And I was so MCPISSED to FINALLY get into the comics only to stop reading on a cliffhanger. Oh well. I consider myself a fan now.

so much for my theary regarding shadow being the cure. I guess the only cure now could be the boost wisps yackers our only hope we lost shadow its not fair black arms DNA failed us.
Ian could make a twist and have Shadow recover on his own from the virus and his body was just slow acting in helping him since it was completely foreign disease of artificial nature. Or he'll just get anti-bodies after being cured assuming Eggman ever tries to use something like that again.
*Sonic: (to Shadow)* Here dozes the masked clown.
*Me:* Sonic, you're not helping.
Cowards run...I win
Oh boy your so skewed
because HE CAN'T FUCKEN RUN HE SKATES LOOOL AND HE SAID THAT TO HIDE HIS WEAKNESS .•°(ಥ▽ಥ)ノシ°•. also he thought he couldn't get infected because of how he was made as stated in the video
he can't fucking run he skates .•°(ಥ▽ಥ)ノシ°•. and he thought he couldn't get infected because of the way he was made as stated in the video
@@3mar00ss6 Skates are NO EXCUSE for what he did. COWARDS HIDE BEHIND SKATES AS A REASON TO NOT MOVE AWAY FROM DOOM. *ZOMBOTS* WIN.
@@bubbykins4864 he was trying to help lol
Y'know, if shadow did just suck up his pride and started top-speed running to burn the infection off himself, he might've been there to help Sonic and Silver since he'd prob be in a similar condition to Sonic, though maybe slightly better since he might have a less adapted infection.
Also little detail but that map Cream drew at the beginning of the issue, that’s going to be at the beginning of every issue and updated until the virus is over. Maybe the repeats will be pushed aside next issue since it’s a two parter so things probably won’t get too repetitive. See you for your Tangle and Whisper #1 review next week.
How did they turn shadow to such an idiot hyper edge lord ???
I've seen a comment which said that the real reason shadow didn't run could be because he was surrounded and thought that if he tried to run he would get rouge and omega hurt and that they might get the virus.l,but he just used the I'm not a coward thing as a cover up.
I would really like it if this was true, but i reall don't think they have put much thought into it.
if that's the case, then it's a real shame that shadow doesn't have some kind of, chaos energy teleportation to get to a safe location, or rocket shoes that let him fly up and hover in the air, or some kind of chaos energy explosion to use, yup, there's absolutely nothing he could've done to escape the zombots/s.
Yea, the plot monster doesn't want that tho.
@@alimowla3204 ANd its not like this entire situation would have been completely avoidable in the first place by using energy or weapon based long range attacks to prevent such a thing to happen in the first place.
Truly a shame that it had to come to this.
@@rynobehnke8289
well he did use his chaos spears (see? 4:24), BUT the same chaos spears that were originally strong enough to take metal sonic out of his super form, are now......doing jack and shit......okay.
@@alimowla3204 The Zombots really are only as strong as the story needs them to be really.
In one panel can Amy make a massiv dent into one and in the next can all of Gemerl's fire power not make even a tiny dent.
Fukurokov
and if Free Riders is to be taken seriously Cream (even through the map at the start of the issue shows very much that Ian ignores Cream's in that game established technical skills)
working on a cure so far
The pacing that so far is a one to one copy of the previous story complete with Shadow battle in part 2 of a 2 part story like in the Neo Metal Sonic arc.(seriously even Sailor moon has better seasonal pacing)
This story is just dump
Also because I already mentioned it and its actually relevant for these story tension would I like to mention that Cream's map actually causes some problems by showing locations from Shadow the hedgehog and Sonic Battle on it both are supposedly happening on the human world which causes so many problems that Forces also already had with Team Darks treatment in the story (episode Shadow in particular) and really ask the questions where are the United Federations Reinforcements? Especially given that Eggman's plan this time even is to first transform this world and than have his slaves build weapons for him to conquer other worlds.
Sorry for going on so long already again but it really bothers me.
Someone should totally do a What If? Video for this arc, only it takes place within the Archie Sonic universe.
wow. War of Forces really changed Shadow into Vegita 2.0 Edit:... well... maybe not Vegita but just "egdy lord"
I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO MAD they released that cover before the issue! JUST WAIT A WEEK DARNIT

James says, "That was a decent IDW review, yeah, things just get darker and uglier as the Metal Virus saga continues onward. I am surprised this was on the table for the Archie Sonic series just prior to the cancellation of 2017, you're getting more and more interesting and fun to watch as time goes by. I just wonder what the future has in store for the IDW comic as time passes and what other scrapped Archie Sonic concepts might make it into the IDW comic.

*Rouge the Bat:* It's... It's so unfair! Shadow's always here to defend the world! Despite that!
*E-123 Omega:* Eventually, when something or someone is seen as too powerful... It is seen as a threat, (points at Shadow) and then the world becomes its enemy.
4:06 Yo, that's great Shadow impression there,man
Spoilers
Shadow is infected? Well, the Heroes are doomed, there’s no stopping the ultimate lifeform.
Why didn’t he just use Chaos blast? Why don’t you just can’t control all the civilians away? If you can do it to the space colony ark he can you can do it to a couple civilians.
@@comicfan1324 true, why he didn't use that power? shadow did do that chaos Blast move on gun soldiers and black aliens in shadow the hedgehog (game), he does have chaos power. Why he didn't use on civilians as zombot when they overwhelmed him in sonic comic idw issue 19. It me or It see kind force make shadow be zombot in this issuse? 😐🤨🤔
It’d be interesting to see how Sonic reacted if Tails were to get infected. Seeing how Tails faired without Sonic I think flipping the roles could be cool. It could be enough to emotionally break Sonic like Eggman seems to be trying to do.
I'm glad you didn't give shit because the way Shadow was written unlike on Twitter and Tumblr because to me it makes sense that he would act this way.
You know? When I first read this I though Shadow is going to be cool like Leon s Kennedy from Resident Evil in this IDW comic but yeah, as we see right now.
So no humans in this world? Then where did Eggman come from. I don't Human's being in the sonic world as long as they're in the background.
The comic said they were planning to have humans in 2 world collide.
@@oscarm1258 Just to bad that human locations already stated to pop up in the annual.
(more so if we count Cream's map from the start of the issue which shows central city and Tails Adventure era workshop (and I believe also Sonic Battle's house for Tails in the previous issue))
I kinda hope Sonic gets fully infected, just to see Zombot Sonic vs Metal Sonic.
true but if Sonic gets fully infected, that mean Eggman wins
Frost/Frostbite The Hobidon CJ Yeah but I kinda feel like Eggman, if he could control Zombot Sonic, would immediately have him promoted, probably to gloat, and Metal’s ego and hatred of Sonic would make him want to fight.
Also, if he does get fully infected, Sonic will probably manage to beat it through the true superpower of teamwork.
Btw, has anyone seen the second cover to this, they have a few zombots that look like rotor and elias, I got this issue twice for that cover man~
Love to see someone reviewing this comic series
Checked out your channel, definitely like what I see bro👌🏿 got yourself a subscriber 👌🏿
What do you mean by the two world's thing? What does it mean for the humans?
5:55 A.K.A Beeing bassicly Vegeta
I have never clicked on a notification as fast as I have when this came up on my feed.
I mean he was created to be the ultimate lifeform by gerald
Shadow is like a sayian in a sonic character skin, he can increase his stats and base sonic type skills via chaos energy which he access more than any sonic character even remove his limiters to gain more power. Making him pretty much the strongest character, he's power multiplying version of all the characters you listed plus hes immortal.
I hope Sonic gets infected fairly soon. I've been waiting for it to happen for a while, and honestly I'm surprised it hasn't yet.
You know, a lot of people say Sega has ruined Shadow for them. How did they not ruin him for you?
I'm so enticed for anthor IDW sonic! I haven't goten a chance to go to the comic book shop yet ( waiting to T&W 1 )
Shadow being pissed 😡 off at Sonic is very justified.
Avery Merrick a world without an Eggman is just Archie Sonic 51 - 72.
Pissed off at Sonic for letting Eggman live and freeing Metal Sonic ? Yes, absolutely
Acting like a complete moron, ignoring common sense and spewing bullshit like "Hur dur Ultimate Life Form" "I don't run, I ain't no coward".... That's just bad characterization, and I want to believe that was a Sega Mandate and not a Ian's decision to make his character behave like that
@@theabsolutetrashman3708 its ian's decision
@@newdawnhorizon9879 Actually it's mostly because of Sega as they have to approve the story and art of each issue and until it satisfies them, changes have to be made.
@@TheGstar-bz9qf Ian stated that in a bumble kast that sega has given him creative control
I don't watch Dragon Ball much, but from what I've seen, Shadow is basically Vageta in these comics

I don’t like how Shadow acts but I guess them not explaining to him how running will help against the virus kinda jutifice this, tho him being the ultimate life from and therefore shouldn’t be able to get it infected because he was made to cure should’ve been explained better, Shads just sounds too arrogant and egotistical here imo
it's like the Mecha Sally ark. God was that dragged out, and because of it it never got resolved
The reason why it was never resolved is because of Ken Penders.
The metal virus...in the archie comics...just imagine, man...
Fun Fact: From the Sonic wikia page on the "Metal Virus", Ian originally planned for this in the Archie Sonic comics around the 300's if it didn't ended so suddenly and abruptly.
Me: *taps a zombot with metal arm
*I think he's dead.*
Infection in the city, you know you have to hide!
Sega!!! Give back Super Sonic!!! Why are you holding him back!!???
sonic does tell shadow that he should 'run it off' implying that it will slow the infections
Overaching aesop of this arc:
-When trouble comes afoot, society will often attempt to find someone to put the blame on.
-Even if something bad happens, it isn’t anyone’s fault since nothing is in our control.
Omega's train of thought:
If Robot Creator = Eggman
Then:
Eliminate
Shadow is kinda like Vegeta in this issue
First, also loving the metal virus arc
Everyone’s gangster until the horde comes
At first i was bothered why didn't sonic just go after Eggman and quickly stop this?
Then I realized, WE know eventually everyone will be okay, but for Sonic and the others, they have no idea if there even is a cure for this.
This might be permanent, and they're making sure everyone is safe until they make a counter attack
Shadow was created with the sole purpose of curing diseases but was killed off by a disease. IRON-Y.
Godamitt Shadow why you didn't listen
I seen this comic and it was intense.
Am I the only one who feels Shadow was at least SOMEWHAT out of character here? He turned his Vegeta dial up too much when, at least in my eyes, he's comparatively more level headed and not all 'The Ultimate Life Form never backs down!'.
No I fully agree with you
Shadows out of character level brock my scouter here its ridicules outside of Boom was Shadow only in Team Sonic Racing being written this badly in like EVER.
The only thing I have to say about this issue is Shadows ego. He seriously prefered to play tough boy than save himself.
I actually have an Sonic IDW oc that has an relation on Shadow becoming an Zombot
Edit: I think that all those sucky things Shadow has done will catch up to him, like with IDW Grimlock.
(My oc is the one that catches Shadow up on screwing up)
I guess Ian heard my comment about Sonic getting tired, huh?😏
Huh that's interesting
No!?!?
Robin McCormack
Haha! YES!!
Ironically in a Sonic Boom ep Sonic says "I don't get tired!"
Snaaaaap
Ironically that is sonic boom throwing jokes, as usual.
If only megaman was here to help ☹
The Sonic/Mega Man crossovers never happened in IDW buddy.
@Keith Holder That would be cool but it isn't possible.
Poor Shadow, I felt bad for him.
Bravo
