It's amazing how such seemingly basic information is needed. I just got my first variegated monstera (cutting, aerial roots, a tiny bit of growing roots). But I am searching far and wide to make sure I know how to best propagate it. Thanks for uploading, it's really useful!
I definitely found this video not only useful but very interesting and informative. I recently retired and got into this world of plant UA-camrs and you are my absolute favorite 💓 I have collected and cared for plants for over 50 years and I learn something new from you in just about every video. BRAVO 👏
I love how you don’t think twice about nipping the new growth I would be so scared to nip the new growth and again you’ve been doing this for a while and it’s awesome to see your confidence and dealing with this rare house plants love your hair!
Came here because I bought a cutting of a VMon which came in the mail today. Bought it on ebay bc I'm trying to raise it for a friend who always wanted one but they're quit expensive.. it would be part of her Wedding gift if I can get it through 😅 The seller was nice and all but the cutting she sent me is super tiny and one side of the node is kinda greyish - no active rot though, but still. I spent 35 bucks in this sucker 🤣 it came fully rooted so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 hopes to it wanting to live 🌱
This is very useful info for one fine day...esp the bit on 'aerial roots is not the real thing when I can get over the price and get the albo for myself!
Hey im buying a albo monstera and it has a leaf but it’s all green same as the node but it has some white on it,it’s has a thin small white line across the bud will it be variegated ones the bud grows?
Hi there! Fellow plant-loving physician here. Wondering if you could comment on top vs middle vs bottom cuttings. It seems top cuttings, once rooted, are the most desirable bc they will have quicker new growth and maintain current level of fenestration? What about middle vs bottom - at least with bottom cutting you essentially have a well-rooted plant already? In future, it would be helpful to include a video or photo of exactly where you made the cut on the new white growth. I’m unsure how close to the node I need to clip.
hi there! Do you know where i can get any reliable seeds from variegated preferably but ALSO seeking non. or cuttings IF reliable, i trust your opinion...I grow many plants but not these and would love them in my tropical grow rooms. thanks!
hi, I have a question. I recently got a monstera variegata, and one end of the node is turning black, and one is turning brown just like the plant you showed at 9:00. I'm new to this, and I considered cutting it until I saw you didn't. can you tell me what I can do and what it means?
I grew an albo from a double node wet stick... I did end up cutting in half and waiting for my keiki paste to arrive to encourage the 2nd bud. The first bud grew just fine and now has 2 baby leaves, however it's been about 3 months of waiting on the 2nd leaf to shoot another leaf out ... how long does this normally take? The roots on both nodes are really good too👍🏻... thanks in advance! 😊
Hey Jimmy! 😊 Thanks for this helpful video! I‘m trying to propergate an one leave cutting with one node in water. Is it a problem, when the node is in water? There is no space to put the airial root in water without the node. Would be nice, if you give me an advice. 😊 Greetings from Germany! 🙋♀️
I recently bought a wet stick but it’s soooo small, there’s no room for error I feel like! It developed rot so I had to cut off a big chunk of the plant but it’s even smaller now! Is there any chance it will still root?
Hi. I have a very small 1 node cutting. It has one half and half leaf but has only grown white leaves since. 4 to be exact . Should I cut off all growth or leave the half and half leaf intact. It has good root development. Thanks Jimmy.
So if I have a cutting with 3 nodes, and the roots come out of the node closest to the leaves and I am ready to plant in soil - is there any reason I can't trim the stem below the roots and try to grow a new plant out of the other two nodes?
@@LegendsOfMonstera interesting, that'd sure get me to a bushier plant, faster! Do you have any videos where you address your opinion on sealing the stem with wax? Or does anybody else reading this know if he does?
I have 2 young rambunctious kids home today so I couldn't watch the whole video but I have a question! I'm plant sitting for a friend n her albo that got a new leaf since I've been watching it has started to curl under only on the variegated side and also at the stem it's turned downward a lot like the leaf is almost flush with the stem. Is that a sign of too much light or not not enough? Or also that new leaf already has a new leaf starting to emerge is that just what they do when a new leaf emerges sometimes? Also what's your favorite fertilizer for albos?
Hey I've been given one of these plants. Very young and it looks like it's been grown from seed. Any advise? It has 2 variegated leaves and two with a couple of small speckles of white. Cheers
Great info! Sometimes I think you should you should leave it alone an see what happens. We don’t know until we try, have you ever just let a white one go long enough too see what happens? That’s an experiment I would like too see. 💚😃😍
I am much more flexible with letting the white ones go with established plants. With these cuttings that have so little energy production as is, I chop all white parts much more readily.
Legends Of Monstera i get it with the energy. I’m just wondering since the stem had lots of green, if the next leaf would green up? Maybe you have experienced this already an know that it will just continue with the white? It’s interesting, enjoy your content. 😃💚
I still don't understand why white growth is seen as catastrophic?:( what if you get the odd one? What if it's an all white leaf on a single stem plant? Would appreciate any help!
White parts don't have chlorophyll and thus don't generate energy for the plant. That means all the white parts are draining energy from your plant and not contributing energy in return.
I’m going through the same thing with my variegated at go in it has sent up 5 white levels in a row and I keep hoping it will push out some variegation
I'm a bit afraid to buy this plant. Although it is one of my favorite. Because i heard that you have to be prunning them to keep te varigation? And when you dont do it the right way that he wil eventually turn green again. Can you tell me if this information is correct?
Variegation is basically luck based. Sometimes you need to prune back when it gets all green, and other times you need to prune back when it gets all white.
@@LegendsOfMonstera Thanks for your reply. Yes this is exactly what i meant. So it is true, maybe i give it a try when i can get my hands on a cutting.
Hi Jimmy, have you ever noticed leafless nodes in moss or water kind of cracking and the white inner “flesh” sort of puffing up and out all over? Sort of like popcorn? Not like a nub though. What is this?

You look fun to hang out with! Thanks for the awesome info.
When you nip the bud. Does not get spent and lose the growth point?

Very good video! How much would it be a good price for a monstera deliciosa (not Borsigiana) albo, unrooted, one not only, cuting?
This was incredibly helpful thank you so much!!
Thanks... What type of plant is on the right hand (my view) side in your video... so back on the shelve on your left?
It’s a mature philodendron Florida ghost
I'm not too good at propagation. As much as I want one of these, I just have to hope the price comes down in my lifetime!
Do the sticks with the nodes stay forever out of the substrate or do you eventually bury them?

Thank you 🙏 for all this good information
Do you ever use keiki paste to promote new buds or root growth?
Hi does anyone know where to get best Monstera Albo plan or cutting ? I live in New York
Does it remain a baby monstera or will the leaves start to grow bigger as they push out new leaves?
great information! gotta go cut off some buds ;)
Can a sansi 36w growth light provide enough light for a propagation?

Nope, you definitely can if you want to chance it. Lots of people do.

I have the same problem. Good luck with it.
5 white in a row probably is a sign to prune back...
If you will put. Up for sale , I would love to buy it from you
Nodes are just like a heart of a Plant, no heart, no life. Don't compare nodes into a game life. It's totally different.

Its likes alot of humidity and light, it starts turning green when its not getting enough light. A very easy to care for plant. Good luck

Too bad on all those all white leaves! The plant is trying so hard but it really needs better outlets haha

I think they are mineral deposits but not positive. They seem harmless though.
My cutting with a leaf in water has the same issues. Even where the node is... I‘m affraid, this maybe distroys the node... 😱
i love you!!
