I don't know about calling it a cheaper model when the 2024 laptop is 979 dollars. I just bought it and the model can handle anything I threw at it. Very capable for a mid-range.
$600 at Walmart + RAM 4050 is basic videocard of new generation, desktop’s bottom one is 4060 which is probably closer to laptop 4070. And desktop CPUs are like level and a half above. It can handle stuff but it’s kinda basic. There are some cheaper ones for $500 that have 3050 or 2050 but that will be much slower

@@riverwalkhomebuyers Exactly. Even then I am able play Hellblade 2 and a lot of games on max settings. The only game I have a problem running was Witcher 3 at Ultra settings with RT. I was able to do it on High with RT.
I just completed my RAM upgrade a few minutes ago. Here are my thoughts: 1) There's no way I could've unhinged the plastic prongs without my new prying tool. I also had used the mini screwdriver to hold each corner up to be sure they wouldn't click back into place, but I was just nervous. I suggest getting the prying tool rather than the mini guitar pick ones because the leverage is so much better and it's around the same price as the 10 packs of picks. 2) When inputting the RAM sticks, insert at a diagonal and gently push down until it clicks into place. I got two 16 GB sticks to be sure 100% they are compatible (anyone want my extra stick from the build lol). I didn't insert the second one at a diagonal before pushing down, so it didn't click into place. Removing and reinserting was a hassle. 3) Unless you are also replacing the SSD, there's no setup once you turn it on. I'm pretty happy with my purchase, I'll be using this for college so I'm glad everything worked out. I choose 32 GB of RAM to be 100% sure there's no issues in the future, but I don't see the need to increase HD space with cloud storage. I'll probably only play a few games at a time on here anyway, so I don't mind reinstalling games.

8gb - bad 16gb - good 24/32 might be a bit better somewhere Adding 16 might be a good idea, so it costs twice less than 32gb and makes it 50% more ram than 16gb. And those a few extra GB might just what you need

I m not really into testing. They won’t show any difference I think. It’s a matter of programs/games you have on, if RAM is enough - it’s good, if not enough - lagging, freezing - very bad. Clean install is more work, I only do it if I swap the SSD. I remove a few dozen apps after Windows installation and that’s good enough. Otherwise I can recommend clean install only for really advanced users who know what they are doing.

Bought the laptop today from walmart, and ordered a 16gb stick off amazon. Gonna rock 24gb of ram for now, and eventually get another 16gb stick and a 2tb samsung drive. The ssd in the laptop is miles slower than the one on my desktop, and its been kind of a drag. Its also annoying seeing this thing cap out with only a few tabs open with 8gb of ram, I havnt had this little in a decade.
8gb of ram nowadays = send email or play roblox. SSD speed generally doesn’t slow down anything by much. Unless you copy from one to another. I tried to put games on samsung 980 pro and on old SATA SSD, wasn’t noticeable difference. 24gb might be just enough. Just see if anything needs more - and if not - just stay at 24gb

I just got this and slammed in a 32GB myself. Playing RE4R on high settings at 60FPS and it's using 62% of the RAM. This is a real good deal for the price.
I got a Lenovo loq for the same price in best buy the other week had 8gb ram and 512gb. Upgraded that to 32gb of ram and two nvme ssd of 2tb for a total of 4tb good deal.

I just got a loq but Im going to take it back for this one. The loq is actually really impressive for the price. There is ONE major problem for me, and that is the lack of integrated graphics. With the 4060 running all the time, I could only get 2-4 hours of video playback and mixed usage before its dead. When I unplugged it from the wall, it drops to 99% immediately lol. I got the AMD model with 4060 and 16GB ram
8gb is not even enough for office work if you open a bunch of windows. Most of will lag and jump when not enough ram. For such basic laptop 16gb is enough for majority of everything. And 32gb won’t really do much over 16gb. But 8gb is just straight bad
If first 3 numbers are the same - 5 in the end just means it is a bit better than 0. Just a bit better variation, I think usually a little bit higher speed. Maybe 5% difference in benchmarks, not really gonna be noticeable.

Yes. You will have 24gb. Better to have matching sticks. Just make sure that added RAM is 5600 and good timing. Don’t buy cheap non name brands. Get Crucial or better

For that combined $ - you ll be better with a laptop with 4060, i7/r7, 16gb ram - it will be much faster in games than whatever ram you put in this one. Even vast majority of $2000 laptops still only come with 32gb.
This laptop will be a bit step forward but not enough to justify the change. You need to buy one with 4070 for around $1000 - that will be a big difference

disconnect the battery, then hold the power button for 5 seconds to discharge it before upgrading the ram/memory slots.

Not sure. You can add 1x 16gb to make it 24gb, and then see if you want to upgrade 8gb to 16gb to make it 32gb
