I just bought this same laptop for under $500. They have it for like 480 right now with a 20 dollar rebate. It came out to 500 for the laptop and my wireless gaming mouse!
I bought 2 of the same laptops last year for my sons, and they were originally $1,050.00 but on sale for $850.00. Specs are Asus,144hz, 3050ti with a ryzen 7, 6800. I think they're still the same price, lol. Performance wise, they handle anything you throw at them in 1080p.
I got the same one on my trip to USA and if it wasn't for the Wallmart V15 deal with the RTX4050 for 500 buck this one would've definitely be THE Black friday deal of 2024. However I made a little test the other day - I opened the PC configurator of a local PC shop website in my home country to check how much it costs the cheapest possible brand new PC with similar specs - Ryzen 5 7000 CPU,RX6500 XT, 8GB DDR5 Ram, the cheapest possible 512 gig SSD, monitor, case, PSU, etc and It was like 800 USD! 😮 And we are not talking about a branded PC with the expected upsale price. At this point with so many well priced budget gaming laptops it's completely unnecessary to spend money for brand new budget gaming PCs and all the traditional inconveniences that come with a desktop PC. Just buy something like this, hook up some okay monitor if you want bigger screen, add some RAM or bigger SSD if needed in your particular combo and you are good to go for casual budget gaming, that is also way more power efficient and convenient to carry around.
@RGC6948 I had atrocious battery i the beginning, but it was probably because it needed some cycles to calibrate and the Windows install went a bit crazy ( I switched over my old 1TB SSD from my previous laptop ) After few charges and some driver reinstalls the battery calmed down and I got about 30% battery drain after 1,5 hours mixing on Traktor Pro siftware with USB controller connected (which is another battery power consumer) so I estimate about 5 hours with come casual usage, which is not bad for a such small battery and gaming hardware. Of course gaming on battery is a very bad idea as usual, probably an hour max and for some reason I could not get the RX6550M Gpu to initialise, it was always using the integrated Radeon 660M iGPU in the APU, probably it was set this way for some kind of power efficiency.
@@RGC6948 Lack of iGPU will definitely hit the battery life, because the RTX3050 will always be initialized, even for basic tasks, especially since the LOQ does not have much bigger battery (60Wh vs 54Wh). Also there is another concern, regarding longevity - when a laptop dGPU is always working it shortens its longevity and usually this is the first thing to fail in a laptop because of the constant heat. And since you don't have an iGPU to use as a backup when the dGPU fails then you need to either replace the whole motherboard or buy a new laptop. Some years ago I had a laptop with only a dGPU (Radeon 5470M) and when it burned I had to buy a whole new laptop. I learned my lesson then and my next laptop had both GT820M dGPU and some shitty Intel iGPU as a backup and better efficiency, so when the GT820M inevitably died it was still able to output picture and is currently at my parents for some basic browsing and stuff. I would never buy a laptop without iGPU anymore, no matter if it has additional dGPU or not.
@@RGC6948 Definitely will be worse, the LOQ does not have much bigger battery then the Victus (60Wh vs 54Wh) and the RTX3050 will be always initialized and draw significant power even for the most basic tasks. Most probably you will get like 2,5-3 hours tops, even with some casual use. There is also another concern with the dGPUs - longevity. Usually the dGPU is always the first thing to fail in a laptop because of the heat and the more you use it, the shorter its life span is and when you don't have backup iGPU you are screwed when the dGPU dies. I learned my lesson some years ago when my Radeon 5470M died and had no backup iGPU, so my next laptop had both iGPU (some shitty Intel one) and dGPU (nVidia GT 820M). The GT820M also died after some time, but the laptop still works only with the iGPU till this day at my parents for some basic browsing and stuff. So yeah, I would always buy laptop with an iGPU, no matter if it has also an additional dGPU or not.

I read all the comments on here, and all the reviews on the Best Buy description on the laptop as well as the Questions & Answers. I'm very new to laptops and laptop language. Is the 512GB SSD removable? I want to replace it with a 1TB or 2 TB. 4.) Do I stick with 4800 or can I go higher?

I just picked one up on Tax free weekend on sale for $500 out the door. I picked up a 16GB Corsair 4800 CL40 SODIMM $42. I added it to the 8GB for a total of 24GB. But it feels wrong because dual channel should match. So should I buy a 8GB to match what was in there? Buy another 16GB to run at 32GB which feels like overkill? Or, run at 24GB?
Soooo, you think it's worth it? I currently use the 2020 Lenovo Legion 5I 15imh05h with the I7-10750h and the GTX 1660ti. I upgraded the 1 original SSD that came with it from 512gb to 1tb and added another 1tb ssd for the 2nd SSD slot. I also upgraded the original single channel 8gb RAM that came with it to using dual channel 16gb that totals to 32gb at 3200hz speeds. Now, considering this RAM is DDR5, that means I would have to buy 2 DDR5 RAM sticks. Sooo, for the price, do you think this laptop would be a decent upgrade from that Lenovo Legion I'm using now? Orr should I look at other options?
Can you talk on the battery life of this laptop? I’m very curious as I’m trying to get a laptop for college but would also like it to run some games! Would much appreciate a reply❤
@@RGC6948 I returned the next day I leave it running with a game just to simulate the time 100% battery got me 1hr 28min of gaming. I decide it to stay with my desktop I’m guessing for normal use it will last longer.
@@RGC6948 The battery life is not great, just like every budget gaming laptop with small 3-cell 50-something Wh battery. I tested my Victus 15 (the same model as in the video) - on WiFi browsing and UA-cam you can realistically expect around 2,5-3 hours. I tried also offline tasks (DJ mixing with Traktor software and USB powered DJ mixer) and for 1,5 hours I got about 30% battery drain, so realistically if you use it offline you will get about 4,5-5 hours, depends on the software you use. And for gaming on battery is expectedly tragic - an hour at most. The Ryzen 5 7535HS in the laptop has Radeon 660M iGPU in it and laptop usually uses when it on battery for better efficiency, but still since it's a high performance chip for gaming and productivity use it's power draw is much higher than low power CPUs for thin laptops like for example Ryzen 5 5500U or something similar, which are way more efficient and can deliver great battery life on small battery laptops. If you can look for a Victus model with the bigger 70-something Wh battery, there was some deal from Wallmart with Ryzen 5 8000 series CPU and RTX4050 GPU, that also had the bigger 74 Wh battery.
Now hear me out. I have the Acer Nitro V 15, the laptop with the rtx 4050. Should I upgrade the memory from 512 GB to 1 TB ( and even more if my budget make me able to ) or should I upgrade the ram from 16 GB ddr5 to 32 GB ddr5? My budget is around 100 euros ( dollar have almost the same value as euros )
Bought the newer version of these for my father with the 7000 series CPU and a 4050 GPU. Still had 8 GBs of ram which is really not acceptable when its a laptop being called a gaming laptop, but once i upgraded its ram to 32 Gbs it was amazing. I think they purposely only put in 8 GBs so that you void your warranty by upgrading lol.
I have the same laptop with 16 gb ddr5 ram. My question is, every where i look at shows that the gpu tdp is 80 watt. But why this laptop doesn’t go over 50 watt? It’s as if it has been limited or capped at 50 watts. Anybody know how to uncapp it and push it to the actual tdp watt?
can u link the crucial ddr5 stick that u used to upgrade it? I dont know which one, and also, do you need to take out the orginal ram to get the 16 gb or is it just another 8gb ?
Hey there guys.. I saw this exact model on sale as well and just about bought it just to see what it could do. Didn't have the time to put into the work, but it looked very interesting. I have a couple "all AMD" laptops and mini pcs. So far, they work well. They don't match Nvidia-based systems (in my personal experience) but are fun to play with and different. Definitely needs more RAM. That's an easy fix. You mentioned the minisforum with AMD dedicated GPU. Did you have the HX99g with the 6650m? That's been on sale as a barebones for under $570 at Amazon. I'd like to see you look at the options of taking a barebones deal and then using spare parts around the shop to turn it into something useful. I bet a lot of enthusiasts have a drawer with spare parts that could be put to use. Also, guys, DDR5 is different from DDR4 when it comes to dual RAM sticks. Many folks have shown that one stick is not different than two sticks. Now, going from 8 to 16 is far more valuable and that's why you got the performance boost. If you want to verify this, pull out the two 8s, drop in a single 16, and see if there's any difference. I've done this with many DDR5 laptops, and it's all been a margin of error differences. Cheers Rick

I don’t know how well the laptop would perform with just the 8 GB of ram that it comes with but I’m assuming it wouldn’t be as good, so I highly recommend upgrading the ram if you end up getting it.
The real deal was the HP Victus 16" 8845HS RTX 4070 for $899 during the Best Buy flash deal right before Prime day
Its on sale again now
Walmart is selling HP Victus for good deal right now $600, ryzen 5 8645hs, rtx 4050
Thanks for pointing that out. I'm going to buy that and sell my RTX 3050 Victus that I bought a couple years ago.
I got that one. Really dope deal
Insane deal
I got mine for under 500 USD in Norway, same specs (even same GPU) as yours. It was a display model at the store, other than that, as new. With an update to 16 GB it was a great deal. Has pretty good upgradeability.
I just bought this same laptop for under $500. They have it for like 480 right now with a 20 dollar rebate. It came out to 500 for the laptop and my wireless gaming mouse!
Got mine for $414 plus an additional 49 for a 16gb corsair vengeance ram stick... All in all $463... not a bad deal
11:37 even the correction was still wrong 😂. Great video like always.
Bought the 4070 version of this 2 days ago for like 500 under the normal price. wild sale
The title:How did Bestbuy sell this laptop so cheap?
BestBuy:They are right, increase the price.
Dude I literally got a I-5 12500f and a rtx 3050 laptop ho victus for 650$ now it’s 899$
Wild
Fr but I've been amazed by used stuff lately, been seeing a bunch of used 3070 laptops for like 7-800
Microcenter has the best deals I've seen on laptops. Rtx 4060s with 12 gen i7s for 675 bucks
@@Akondom das actually crazy😭 but I'm cooked either way cuz I don't think there's any microcenter outside the us
Just bought from Best Buy for 429. Get it before gone. Also I got crucial 8 gb ddr5 4800mh ram from Amazon for 21 dollars .
And we are not talking about a branded PC with the expected upsale price.
Hey man- what’s the battery life looking like for regular use and gaming?
HP Victus RX 6550m is $450 at Bestbuy till 10/7, and the 4050 version is $600 at Walmart online rn.
I got one of these and slapped in another 8gb stick of ddr5 ram and I am running Cyberpunk at ultra settings. Absolutely wild deal for under $500 bucks

It really sucks but rn like literally rn it is 499 so I guess they weren’t lying
I just got it for 522 because of back to school sales. Works like a charm

Almost the same deal was filmed on this channel about 8 months ago with the model of Victus 15-fb1013dx (for 449$+tax, with Ryzen 7535HS and RTX 2050) and I had purchased it on BestBuy, but I'm still very unpleased with it since the first day because of having random BSODs and build quality issues out of the box. Now with AMD 6550M in this video, I really wonder if it has similar problem(s).
About 6 months ago I picked one of these up at the BB in Manhattan $549
I upgraded both ram and 2tb ssd when microcenter had them on sale $129 I think it was
Not bad for my backup unit
Games nice even with gta5 and others
Thank goodness you posted this! Exactly what I was looking for!😭🙏
I just bought this same exact laptop on sale for $429.99 at Best Buy. I read all the comments on here, and all the reviews on the Best Buy description on the laptop as well as the Questions & Answers.
I'm very new to laptops and laptop language. I just need some guidance.
1.) Will this support up to 64GB of RAM?
2.) The higher the RAM, the smoother I can run the games vs a 32GB RAM, right? Or does it cap at 32GB?
3.) Is the 512GB SSD removable? I want to replace it with a 1TB or 2 TB.
4.) Do I stick with 4800 or can I go higher?
Awesome video, thanks.😊
Where can I buy that desktop Mat xxl it's so cool
a bit late but I managed to snag an ASUS Vivobook Creator OLED 1440p laptop with an i9 and a 3050 for 380$ from bestbuy. Not a bad deal!
how'd you get this deal ? lol
There's an hp victus on wallmart's site for $600 packing a 4050 which'd double this thing's performance.
You guys gotta do better research
Hi is it possible if you can link the DDR5 16GB ram I am not sure If I have found the right one.
I was interested in getting this one with the RAM upgrade. Do I need a specific type of a RAM stick or will any DDR5 work?
I love my HP victus. It does everything I want it to besides DCS
I bought the 2050 rtx varient last black friday for $449, i threw in some more ram and a new nvme in it and it kicks @$$!
2 months later it's going for 429 at best buy.
Interesting find! Nice to see something different. Also, you guys are you can set a benchmark start and stop key in MSI afterburner, right? Just gotta tick average fps and 1%low on in the OSD. Would help us get a better idea about the difference in fps.
It’s $480 now😭🙏
I bought mine around 4 days ago for $530 (the open box ones were outta stock) and it came in js yesterday.

Hey man- what’s the battery life looking like for regular use and gaming?
Walmart has a 3050 6gb version for 600
$479 on Best Buy right now
Got one this weekend for 485 at my local Best Buy great buy
I saw this like a few months ago. It's not bad, but I realized you could spend a bit extra and get something more future-proof.
I’m curious to see what you guys game on.
Just paid 400$ for this with an Excellent Open Box version. Verrrry nice
I just copt best buys deal on a $899 HP Victus RTX 4070 w/ 8845HS.
Keep your Lenovo, if you want to make upgrades, get higher end models so you feel the increase in performance 👍 Ur legion is still ok
Can you talk on the battery life of this laptop? I’m very curious as I’m trying to get a laptop for college but would also like it to run some games! Would much appreciate a reply❤
It’s also 430 right now

@@RGC6948 I returned the next day
I leave it running with a game just to simulate the time
100% battery got me 1hr 28min of gaming.
I decide it to stay with my desktop
I’m guessing for normal use it will last longer.
So is it close to a 3050 or closer to the 2050 in performance?? You never mentioned in the video that's what I was waiting for.
Hello what you is better this victus or the new one that you review from waltmart
I'm leaning toward the Victus 15 currently on sale at Walmart. For $599, you get a Ryzen 5-8645HS and RTX 4050
4050 is whatever though lol. My old 2070 super mobile is loterally just 1% better, which means its on par with that 4050.
I must be getting old when the only thing I'm wondering is where he got that sick Spider-Man shirt?! 🤔😅
Keep looking online and buy used i found a 5900h and 6800m upgraded to 32 gb and updated wifi card for $700
I have the same laptop with 16 gb ddr5 ram. My question is, every where i look at shows that the gpu tdp is 80 watt. But why this laptop doesn’t go over 50 watt? It’s as if it has been limited or capped at 50 watts. Anybody know how to uncapp it and push it to the actual tdp watt?
Can you drop the link of the ram you bought. I’m a novice at this and would end up buying the wrong one
can u link the crucial ddr5 stick that u used to upgrade it? I dont know which one, and also, do you need to take out the orginal ram to get the 16 gb or is it just another 8gb ?
yeah i dont see anything allowing you to add an 2.5" drive in that case, am i missing something?
Must be overheating a lot with such a cooling setup.

Cheers
Rick
