  • In this video I make a krenov style wall hanging cabinet of drawers. This project came about because I wanted to take on a long term project using materials I already had in my shop, and to make something that would store fasteners and hardware. The case, doors, partitions, and back frame are made from African Mahogany, the pulls are African Blackwood, The drawer fronts are Ebinara, and the back panel is Redwood. The case houses 30 dovetailed drawers. Overall this project took me 6 months working on weekends and nights. The most difficult part of the project was dovetailing the drawers. It was very repetitive haha. Its a long video so if you made it to the end, your rock!
    Thanks for watching!

      I’m planning to attempt make a round bottom plane to try to make my first coopered door. I’ve got David Fincks book and it is awesome but it just leaves something to be desired when it comes to the round bottom.
      Would it be possible for you to do a video showing how to make one? I can’t find anything detailed on UA-cam of how to do it.

    Thank you very much for this insights into the furniture making of Krenov. This is what I was looking for since I have read the books. Just ordered the last one missing "Leave Fingerprints" :-). Your video gives me the necessary confidence to include one of those fundamental techniques into my next piece, a book cabinet!

      Thank you! That lil dovetail angle tool is the 1/4" marking knife from Hock tools. A fishtail chisel is on the list but itll do until I get one. Works well enough, heres a link to it www.hocktools.com/products/knives.html

    Fine, fine work. Like being back at IP watching this. Beautiful grain graphics on the drawer fronts. What, no schwong on all those dovetails? ;) That amount of drawers on any piece is an exercise in patience and skill. Well done, it's a lovely piece.

      Thank you JR! I thought about putting in some schwong but then I was like yeahhh no theres too many haha. It really was an exercise in patience, halfway through dovetailing I hit a wall and was reconsidering my life choices lol. Thanks for watching!

    What does burnishing w the shavings do? Never tried tht b4.

    • @FrankBowlesFurniture
      @FrankBowlesFurniture  2 роки тому

      It polishes the surface, smoothing down fibers. Almost like a very high grit sand paper. You wanna burnish with shavings of the same wood species you’re using it on

    Just AWESOME that you let us all know your sexual practices. Literally no other woodworker on UA-cam does that. Not one. I so want to know, though, and they just don't don't do it. I'm not solely interested in the project, I want to know about their sexual habits. I only wish you could be more explicit about what you do. "Gay" doesn't really spell it out. Thank you so much for making that a part of your woodworking. It's so important. Keep up the good work!!!
