I know what you mean about going space crazy, been out on my adventure for months now. I left the bubble in April and went as far out into the Formadine Rift as my jump range would allow. Then I kinda pointed toward Beagle Point and flew around the Rim for about 20KLY until I found out that the Odyssey Patch was about to hit so I jumped into Colonia and bummed around there for a bit. Then to Sag A and out to Beagle Point. Made the effort to get to Ishum's Point/Reach whatever, And out to Salomes backdoor step ( found out the hard way about the Odyssey/FSD Injection bug and the Odyssey White Dwarf jump point bug,that one really pissed me off). At the moment I am returning to the bubble via the northern outer rim route. Should be back home by March I think. In no rush....smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.....o7 commanders
After 6 months of playing ED I think I finally understand why I like it and not NMS, and it is not because of the graphic. It create the feeling of being a spaceship captain by simulate the voyage by ship in old day: The emptiness of space / sea, you basically set a course in space / on sea and just let it goes, how to fly the ship approaching the planet. Why NMS I feel like I was playing Raft in Space.

The SRVs tendency to want to spin around backwards used to piss me off too.. But then a buddy of mine let me take his Porsche around a local racetrack that I'm only used to doing in a C5 Vette. I was purposely taking it easy in the turns and I still spun that Porsche 4 times before I figured it out. Switching from a front engined Vette to a rear engined Porsche is like trying to push a fully loaded shopping cart backwards at high speed. All that weight in the ass end just desperately wants to pass the front. If you look at the SRV, and how it's laid out... It's pretty obvious that thing would be horrendously ass heavy. Probably a 30/70 split just taking a quick glance. So now I'm less irritated that it handles that way... It should, especially in lower gravity cause the weight distribution still retains its lateral momentum, but with much less force pulling "downward" and keeping the tires on the ground. Add to that the fact you're on sand and dust and shite most of the time rather than pavement, and the terrible handling makes even more sense. That however begs the question, why in the name of fuck would they design it like that? Both from a gameplay standpoint and an in universe standpoint.. If the physics and handling characteristics are going to be realistic.. Why wouldn't the engineering of the vehicle also be realistic? Any engineer who took one look at that thing would immidiately know its going to handle like shit. And yeah I know it's an extra-terrestrial exploration vehicle and not a race car.. But it's capable of some pretty reasonable speeds. It should be designed for the speeds it can realistically be expected to reach. Sure, we don't know what's inside that big back part. It may simply need to be laid out that way because of what it is and what it does. Power plant requirements, exploration gear, whatever. But this is the Elite universe/timeline. It's the 3300s. The thing has feckin jump jets on it that provide quite a bit of thrust. You could easily, in universe, just say "Yeah the SRV has side mounted RCS thrusters in the rear which fire automatically to counteract its poor handling characteristics, similar to the way torque vectoring worked on car stability control systems over a thousand years ago back on ancient earth". Those would make a lot more sense to have installed and perfected first, long before the big ass jump jet thrusters. Either way, I've spent way too much time thinking about this, but it's the middle of the night and I'm bored. With that being said. Enough is enough. Lol
Sadly, the organic/inorganic planet techn is the biggest disssapoinment in ED. There is no scale. All the plants and minerals are barely taller then your avatar and look maybe a couple hundred feet in size.

Are the ground textures flat where you are standing ? Your in-game graphic settings or that's how it is , I heard ED messed up textures of planets with their new update .
So I'm playing horizons and exploring near sag a and am thinking of upgrading to oddessy, once I upgrade will I just keep exploring exactly where I'm at with no change in my position?
I can't believe you didn't bring a biological scanner tool thing to collect the samples... I spend so much time just to get three samples of each.... Ten signals on one planet I've never seen before. 5 at most.
You should really switch from an aspx to krait phantom. Its better in every way including but not limited to. Internals, speed, turning, JUMP RANGE, looks.
@@juanantonioloreto1848 as a trader and explorer anaconda does everything pretty well. And i never needed to land on an outpost but couldn't. In the end it's all about preference in the game. Most ships are are good for their price. For me krait wasn't that much of an improvement over my asp even after I A graded it... prob because of my playstyle. Then i got the anaconda and it's working great. Just fly whatever fits your playstyle and taste ;). I was joking about anaconda being better. It objectively might be for progress but not too op.
@@sentry1009fair point As a PTN Trader, we NEED to use medium ships, specially when we need to go to systems that can Maximize profits, but only have outpost(s) (Rackham's Peak is an example)

There is a bug in Odyssey, if you recall your ship from your SRV and then you disembark before your ship landed, it will depart.
