For those who don't know, someone leapt from a balloon as part of a redbull event, and the height was comparable. At one point when he hits the atmo, he starts spinning uncontrollably. It's terrifying.
@@LnmHive I don't remember the full story, but I believe the guy who did it was conscious for it. At least, for enough time to pull the chute. He wouldn't have survived otherwise.
I jumped off one of the freighters one time and died almost instantly to space coldness , granted i had refused to put better than starter weather protection on.
imagine landing at some random outpost thing on a decent looking planet, and the person living there just falls from the heavens and lands on your ship
i used to do this all the time, got some amazing pictures and spent 100 hours modding my life support system to sustain longer and longer falls without constant recharge. so amazingly fun, i felt like a deep diver exploring unknown areas. i dove through asteroid belts, colliding planets, and even found out with proper jetpack mods you can fly from frigate to frigate, swimming through space. just dont do this too far away from a planet or you may be lost, drifting in thr void endlessly
I posted on reddit a while back, I placed a ladder and started crawling up it, the ladder ended but i kept crawling. So i was crawling up an invisible ladder and i managed to crawl all the way up out of atmo and then i started dying. So i did it again with mods and inifinite health and was able to crawl up to my freighter.
Speaking of which, NMS Traveler has a few videos with portal coordinates of vert rare colliding planets. (planets generated so close to each other that thier atmospheres actually intersect) The gravity on these worlds can obviously get very wonky because two planets are so close together. On these worlds you can jetpack from the surface of one planet to the other.
you can also jump onto a freighter from a planet, I've only found it to be possible on low atmosphere planets. takes a while, but is definitely possible to just jump into space.
I did this once by accident, when for some reason a freighter just disappeared as I was entering it and so when I left my starship I started falling from very high up in space. instead of using my jetpack I pulled out the personal forcefield, I don't know if that made a difference or not but the fall still somehow didn't quite deplete my health bar
Wait till you see star citizen where there isnt any loading screens exept the one you see at the start of the session, that game is going to be so cool when it has its full release next mellenia.
I thought this was gonna be a scientific video, explaining all physical laws that would come into play if one jumped from space, and would thoroughly explain what would happen and describe all the events that would go, as well as the mathematics that would come into play in such a daring experiment. I was not dissapointed
jumping from your frigates in your fleet is MUCH easier. In fact, you can fall all the way to a planet as long as you have enough materials to refill your life support and shield (or the thermal layer and cool frozen effect in earlier versions). If you land on a body of water, you'll survive the fall with only minor damage, though I'm not sure if the damage comes from hitting the surface of the water or the riverbed/seabed
They really should add space walking. Like for a game thats all about space, I would love to hop out of my ship and experience some 0 gravity every once and a while.
@@DirtTheGamer Yes! And maybe they could add some rare minerals on some of the asteroids. Or even comets that you can find and land on after you exit your pulse engine. Maybe even the ability to make space bases, where you have the option to have artificial gravity that you can turn on or off.
There are three sizes of "star deatroyer" style freighter, and three of the sentinel one. The one in the video is a size one star destroyer. Each sise adds a middle segment, making the freighter longer.
Unless you mean his starship. Its a sentinel interceptor, which has a big pool of parts to roll from, making them much more unique than the standard fighter/hauler/explore, and with more variation is hull shape than exotics and solar ships.
And it is possible to LEAVE A PLANETS ATMOSPHERE WITHOUT A SHIP from a mountain it has to be on a planet with specific weather and extremely tall mountains but it's possible
@@DirtTheGamer more to say, I wasted 3 hours and flew FROM starting planet from Adrift to random derelict. It was done as soon as I got gifted jetpack modules from milestones and found out that the gravity is weakier than jet recharge+push.
On planets with extremely low gravity you can use a jet pack to leave the atmosphere but you’ll get a swimming animation and will start dying immediately lol
Yes, i did this with a friend with infinite health or no enviro damage turned on and had him nudge me with his ship to help me fall faster. It works but takes forever, no reason to do it more than once.
Not me just learning for the first time that you can summon your freighter from the surface of a planet Also you can set a number key to refill your life support from the quick menu FYI
Better method... Get out of planet .. Get past planet limit just enough to call your freughter... Now turn your ship upside down...so when you call your freughter it's top is facing planet....aka...the planet is above it... Jetpack right outside any platform...once you do it enough...you leave freughter gravity and start falling... Bonus....break your life support...
I remember when I first did this. I didn't even know I could go outside of my freighter into open space, I definitely didn't know I could actually jump off the side and fall ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE PLANET BELOW. And my ship was Soo far from the planet it legit took me almost 10 minutes to reach the ground, the whole time fighting with my life support so I don't die before I reached the ground
But what happens when you misalign the freighter just slightly so that you still land on the olanet but the gravity is slightly different, not completely perpendicular to the ground? Or does it correct itself when you enter the atmosphere
Gives some perspective of the scale of the game when you aren't going 99% of the speed of light.
The funny thing is you're pretty much always going faster than light, except on planets.
I actually think you move slower than light even in the pulse drive. It's just the planets are really close to each other.

I love that you did this.
I did this in Star Citizen by accident. I meant to EVA around my ship to do something but didnt realize I was within the planet's gravity.
I have done several frigate base jumps. On one jump, upon landing the gravity on the planet was skewed somewhat diagonal until restart.
If I didn't have a jet pack I wouldn't do half the things I do in NMS...
if you were to drop onto a new planet by doing the second method, would you discover it? and if you would, when would the planet introduction hit?
