Charles scored his 14th H/H match today, and moves ahead of Jo Ann Pflug in the accuracy department. He's now solidly in second place for both times chosen and total H/H matches. He also has the best track record of the regular celebs by far. This was also the first successful H/H match this week. (Fannie was selected yesterday, but sadly didn't match the contestant. She's been selected 7 times so far and has matched once.) Here's the updated leader board for the 8 celebs to have scored 3 or more H/H matches so far, ranked by their current accuracy scores: Orson - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 52.2% (12 wins in 23 attempts). Charles - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 46.7% (7 wins in 15 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Richard - 32.1% (42 wins in 131 attempts). Brett - 28.6% (6 wins in 21 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 288, excluding the lost/missing episodes 31, 32, 33.
The look on Gene Rayburns face and Bretts reaction when the contestant said Brett to keep her mouth shut as the answer to her question made me almost fall to the floor laughing!
The way she laughs when everyone roasts her is a very endearing trait. I've noticed that questions geared to insulting her have become a pretty regular feature of the show recently.
It sounded like a couple of panelists gave my answer for the toupee question, they ALL shoulda answered punchbowl. I think fins is an excellent answer, in fact they would look awesome on a sharkskin jacket
Wow did anybody else notice when Gene was about to ask the female contestant for her 3rd pick from the panel, Charles blurted out Hi-ho. She didn't choose Charles.
From Brett’s first show to getting on gene’s Rayburn’s nerves Brett laughing at the to keep her mouth shut is hilarious and gene has a smile on his face
I'm also happy when CNR is chosen for the head-to-head match. I honestly think he's just as good a player as RD. No one can match every time, but I'm sure the contestant was happy she chose Charles this time. -- My first thought hearing the question was the same answer they both gave, but then I wondered if the contestant might say "Coat of many colors".
another comment. I think Gene really does get upset when Brett is eating on set. That`s why he threw the hard candy into the audience. Maybe the director of the show has told him if he sees Brett eating to get on her case about it as often as he can, because it seems like she`s always sneaking some little munchy in her place on the set.
Well Gene didn't like seeing people eating on tv and got them all to agree to not eat on set but Brett and Charles kept beating it and upset Gene. Althou that might have been the point to get a laugh at Gene throwing food away.. ;0)
@@sdlively27 He may have gotten people to _say_ they wouldn't eat on set, but they clearly did not actually agree. I'm guessing they were resisting Gene taking himself too seriously.
ROFL! on the Brett answers... ;0) Almost like the week taping at Studio 41.. ;0) Gee guys how many times does he have to tell you no eating on the show.. geez..
5:46 Gene asks the contestant to call on one more celeb, she says nothing while Charles proceeds to give an answer. Bad editing or did CNR speak out of turn, or maybe she already said it or pointed at him during all the cheering of the previous answer? We'll never know.
In 1974, Masquerade Party was revived for syndication by Stefan Hatos-Monty Hall Productions and aired weekly for one season. Richard Dawson hosted the revival with Jay Stewart announcing. The basic premise was the same as the original show. Bill Bixby, Lee Meriwether, and Nipsey Russell were regular panelists. Col. Harland Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame made an appearance as a celebrity guest. A reference to this version was made in a final-season episode of The Odd Couple. Felix asks Oscar what he is watching on television, and Oscar reports, "Masquerade Party with Richard Dawson." Felix, who said he knew Dawson in the Army, replies "That man ruined my life!". Technical crew was on strike.. so the director wasn't drunk but doing the best he could do with what he had as they had been on vacation for a month and already had Gene flying in.. ;0)
Why does BRETT ever have to butt in every single time? It’s so irritating! Gene was speaking to Charles and of course, BRETT has to make her comments! It’s so irritating. It’s just sickening how she starved for camera time trying to upstage everyone!
Happy Mother’s Day to Brett somers in heaven and Helen Rayburn in heaven too hey gene give your wife flowers and jack give Brett some flowers and some loving
I wonder if the mic has settings that should have been adjusted but weren't due to the strike. We're hearing her far more than we usually hear anyone in that seat. It makes me think that the reason we think Brett is so loud is that her mic is on while others are not.
Beth Di Bartolomeo I agree - nipsey Russell is the best, but Scoey has grown on me. He kinda reminds me of Joey Bishop and I really loved Joey. (By the way i just read that Scoey is 90!)
This is awesome!!! Thanks for posting these videos. I love this show!!!

I seen a couple of comments and they said that the audience member had told BRETT to shut up! So I’m watching for it! LOL!!!
“You can swing that in ragtime!”
It's funny to hear Jaws mentioned as a bestselling book, shows the time of the episode. The hit movie was just a year away.
i guess people were big book readers back then since they only have a few channels on their TV and no programing after 11 o'clock lol.
I was thinking the same thing.

She is laughing when the contestant says to keep her mouth shut Hee Hee Hee I love it
Loved match game. I watched it every day after school
Panelists:
1. Scoey Mitchell
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Elaine Joyce
5. Richard Dawson
6. Fannie Flagg
I just saw it in the Punch Bowl!
Fannie was so cute
R.I.P., Scoey. 🙏🏻
I miss the little Rice-a-Roni and luggage (etc.) promos they used to have in the middle of the show.
Me too, I used to have a good laugh at the prizes.
GSN edited it out lol.

Fannie's sign said "Hello! I da HO!" LOL
Oh my.
And then when asked for a suggestion to the audience match question: "________ HO" -- she DIDN'T say Ida-ho!
@@kevansf lol!
I honestly thought “Land Ho!” Lol And what’s wrong with fins?
I thought Westward Ho. There were a lot of choices.
Wagons ho for me. I watch too much Wagon Train though. : )
I thought "Idaho" after seeing Fannie's card in the celebrity introduction sequence.
I thought Richard would say Don Ho, wasn't he a godfather of one of Richard's kids? Thought I read that somewhere.

I didn't see nor hear this contestant choose Charles for the ho question. It must be a blip in the recording.

The first of the "authentic" questions.
Tough crowd that day! Fannie's joke about Brett was really funny ("...I'm going shopping for a blank.") but it totally bombed.
Cute one.
Someone should have sung "Mack the Knife"
Coat of many colors
I would have said BRA OUT OF THE VACUUM.

Not that this game functions logically, but fins are attached to skin, whereas teeth are not.
really, Brett.....you didn't know who Don Ho was? Now I've got "Tiny Bubble" stuck in my head....
Brett is so dense , sometimes I think she is from another planet and she needs to shut up
Edward Lozano --- does that surprise u, it's Brett. What did u expect. lol
She has previously not known who Patrick Henry, Henry Ford, and a couple of other prominent people were. Her fund of general knowledge is bankrupt.

"I just found your toupee in the _______(blank)".

"Kept her mouth shut" is one of the classic answers from a contestant. Too bad it didn't get any matches.

Yes i guess they didn't wanted to sound rude like her lol.

Not sure if the director was drunk? But this one had probably the worst camera shots I've seen. Totally off the wall and scrambled.

Why does Brett have to comment on anything that is directed to another panelist?
She apparently had a bad case of ... Look at Me!
I'd hate to see what kind of Ho they would say today.
No, because that is her persona. She is the loud, bossy broad. She does it well so leave her alone.
@@kathycobb4451 you do know she isn't alive right? If she was I'd still say whatever I wanted

The camera crew stink in these episodes. Nonetheless, great entertainment.
There was a technician's strike at the time of production.
Too bad nobody said dirty...
Omg Elaine! I'd love to have seen her "collection"
Preferably with her modeling them.
Elaine is very annoying, and a air head.
Elaine's mic is too loud for her shrill laughter.

Being a Big Bang Theory fan from way back, I thought, "Kites Ho!"
When is Scoey going to do something funny? He is the most ill tempered comedian I have ever seen.
