    Amazing tips as always!
    I have a suggestion that I didn't know where to post, sorry🙈. You have an amazing process of thinking and I think you are one of the best to help the pouring art community be as sustainable as possible. Perhaps a series about how to waste as little as possible, best ways for safe disposal of the pour waste.....etc. Everyone can also share their tips in the comments. I think it might be fun!

    I have now completed the 3 pours in your beginners tutorial, flip cup, tree ring and I did the dirty cup today. The first 2 were ok ish, I ended up with ridges/dips when they dried, admittedly I may of lost myself a bit in the amount/mixing of paints. Today I used your journal, writing everything down as I made up each colour knowing that I had the right amount of paint and wow what a difference. It looks fabulous and seems to be drying pretty level, fingers crossed it will still look ok tomorrow 😊 Sometimes we need a nudge that it's a good idea to go back to old school and use something as simple as pen & paper 😁

      So true. Why make the same mistakes others did when you can learn and get ahead with a little research. Although nothing beats personal failure for teaching. I don't think of failure as a bad thing. It's the best teacher.

      Until you get silicone mats, I use cereal box liners, the wax coated ones. A bit of warm water in the "bag" helps the glue release. They are great for peeling skins off of as well.

    Another informative tutorial. I've downloaded the journal, as a beginner I haven't kept notes of what I've used and then forgot what worked and what didn't, this will be so useful as it will be a reminder to make notes as I will keep a bunch of blanks by my paints so I pick one up each time 😊

    I love all of your videos. I have learned so much. Now just need to practice. You make it so easy to understand. 1 question I have seen the straight pour and ring pour. How do you make the straight lines . In your video 2 yrs ago you were showing how to make the black drip tray. In the video you demonstrated with a black , white and gold painting. I want to do one without the rings just lines. Thank you for making it easy to understand.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  9 місяців тому +1

      Straight lines are rather difficult with acrylic pouring. However, you can fill your paint cup just like those other methods and then pour it very slowly in thin lines back an forth across your canvas until it is covered. I prefer to go side to side on the short side of the canvas. The hard part is tilting off the excess with keeping the lines straight.

    I've watched your dutch pour tutorials but I'm obviously being a bit dense with regards to the amount of paint needed. As an example if I need 4oz of paint for the size canvas I assume I make up a bit more than 4oz of the base colour to allow for the extra needed on either side of the colours ? Then if I used 4 colours, just to make it easier for the maths, would I make up an ounce of each colour or would that be way too much and just end up wasting paint/medium ? Apologies for not getting my head around this but I'm just a bit lost in the calculations. Oh and an update on my dirty pour I did yesterday using your journal, it has dried/settled perfectly, so thank you again for these great tutorials 😊

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  9 місяців тому +1

      You still only need 4 oz of total paint. I usually make about 60% of the paint as the base layer and 40% as the colors on top.
      If you manally apply the paint you aren't letting it tilt off the size so you actually use less paint with the Dutch Pour. For the colors, generally less is more with the Dutch pour. You'll be pushing them out all over and you don't need a ton of those.

    • @kayewall9005

      @LeftBrainedArtist thank you for your explanation, that makes total sense now 👍😊

    If I want to TWEAK a Dutch pour after it's dried... Is that possible? Like I have a white area that doesn't impress me.. could I pour some color on it?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  7 місяців тому +1

      Just free hand paint over it. Lots of artists do that before they varnish.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  9 місяців тому

      Cool is better but if you don't have it just limit how much blowing you are doing. Blow then rest, then blow then rest, nothing continuous.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  9 місяців тому +1

      Floetrol is a very cheap alternative (assuming you are in the US) to a professional pouring medium. Great for a lot of pours and for saving money when you start.
