- NEW to this channel! Exploding Flip Cup Dendrites! In todays video tutorial we are going to explore an exciting new twist on an almost forgotten acrylic pouring technique. Flip Cup Dendrites. Dendrites are really cool effects that you can create using acrylic paints or India inks . The science in this one is really cool. The paints and or inks fractal out to look like tree branches and or snowflakes. And the colors? Oh sweet baby Jesus they are gorgeous and so cool to watch. The brand I like best for India inks are Dr. Martin's Bombay brand. They sell many different colors in your local hobby stores or here amzn.to/3KboTWj. For acrylic paints the brand that works the best and is pretty much effortless is the Golden High Flow line amzn.to/44TI8f4 . Typically you just put a drop of ink or paint on the canvas and then add a drop of alcohol to it for exploding colors to form however in today's video I decided to make mini flip cups filled with 2 colors of ink and I was very surprised at the results I achieved. In the end i was able to create a magical piece of art and I beg you to please try this. Here is how I did it!
I thinned down some white acrylic paint [artist loft brand] with some water until it flowed off the stick and left no mound of the surface of the paint in the cup.
I poured the white paint on the canvas and tilted it around until the canvas was covered.
I then added drops of ink to the canvas and put 1 drop alcohol on top. I waited 2 minutes, added another drop ink, 1 drop alcohol and continued to rotate between the 2 products until I was happy with the dendrite it created. Please be patient with formation of dendrites. This takes time so give it a few minutes to form.
For acrylic paint I used high flow paints which as you saw really didn't need alcohol but it is perfectly fine to use it. If you use a tube paint make sure it is extremely thin. I would experiment with just water or water and a pouring medium to thin the paint down.
I am currently testing tube paints and will have the results next Sunday at 330pm est.

Hello my friends and thank you so very much for watching today's video ❤ For those who have seen dendrites before today I decided to mix it up and put my own special twist on it by doing mini flip cups which really ended up creating fantastic bursts of colors. If you read the description of the video I explain step by step just how to do this and I hope you explore all the possibilities this fun technique can offer. Happy Pouring my friends! ❤
You ARE the best 🤗😘

So gorgeous. Could u use alcohol or acrylic ink? Struggling to get bombay ink in my country
Thank you for something new to do. I can always count on you for that. Appreciate you, so much. 😊
I have tried it (and it was fun). I learned 3 things. No 1) PATIENCE (patience is unfortunately not my peak competence) No 2) I made them too close to each other, so I didn’t get to see all the beautiful tentacles. No 3) Don’t tilt the canvas!!! Oh, there’s a No 4) Don’t use too much vodka, so the patterns are sailing. And No 5) you don’t have to drink the rest.
Love from Denmark
LMAOOOOOOO This comment made me laugh out loud! I love you🤣🤣❤️❤️
Dendrites are a common pattern in nature that's why its so attractive. Looks beautiful I want to wear it.
thank you! this is ... well, it ROCKS!
Pretty cool technique. I wonder if you could make them into undersea coral structures? Such an interesting concept. 😊
I was thinking the same thing 😊
I was thinking the same thing!
I have! Using red and orange and they’re gorgeous!
Very pretty flower picture. The prints could make great wrapping paper design
I'm in love. Gotta give it a try.
I used to love watching Myriam’s Nature making dendrites. I miss watching her so much! I hope you make more of these. ❤❤
That’s so pretty! it’s really giving me a 70’s vibe.
Looks soooo much like coral. Makes me want to paint an underwater scene!
I love the flowers - they look like Gerbera daisies (which are my favorite). Years ago, you were the first person to show me alcohol ink, which I finally bought. As to India ink, who knew that it was for more than fountain pens and homemade tattoos?
I told the cats (i.e., talking to myself) that I would clean house after Auntie Tammy's video. Damn, it's over. I'd rather paint.
As always, much thanks. Excited to learn more about the upcoming class!
It is amazing.Thank you for sharing your beautiful new techniques.
I held an event (Peace Unto You) in my group yesterday and I used this technique, of course giving you full credit. I am just in the process of downloading it onto my channel. What a beautiful technique. Thank you.
Thankyou for sharing this new technique. It looks like a lot of fun.
A wonderful technique.❤❤
I love watching your videos. But when watching this video doing dendrites, I remembered seeing myria!'s nature doing these about 5 years ago, just thought you could watch what she does to maybe get more ideas.💕💕

Wowweeeze! Ultra cool!
Thank you, Tammy. I love standing on the shoulders of giants. These fractals really feed my inner science-nerd. Years ago, James Gleick wrote a book called Chaos (highly recommended if you have a curious mind). It was my first introduction to the science of fractals, and I've been fascinated by them ever since.
Wow 👌 👏 🎉❤ I must try😊
USA here💙..this is totally badass incredible..thanks sooooo much for sharing👍
