Welcome to my reaction to 4th Chamber by GZA
Original lyrics: genius.com/Gza-4th-chamber-ly...
One of the greatest beats in hip hop. The way rza could take these obscure noises and make them work is crazy
Facts
True that
PE and early Wu had "noisy" beats I really liked
Exactly. I grew up with heavy metal and Rock before venturing in Hip hop. This beat and the distorted sounds made me think of a gritty metal track.
The one after this 'Shadowboxing' is even better.
@@malik9.228 Thanks! That is def on my list.
Salute And Cheers..A Genuine Reaction To A Hip Hop Classic From The 90s
Thank you!
Yes! Finally a GZA joint! One of my favorite MCs. Love RZAs verse on this one too. Please do “Fame” by GZA, you’ll find the wordplay absolutely delightful.
Thanks for the suggestion, Jim! I'll add it to my list.
Great suggestion....the word play is phenomenal....animal planet is another one
Finally! Wu tang is like listening to a story. Just enjoy the ride, the word play, the unique themes and analogies. And if you like chaotic beats RZA is your man. I love that GZA ends with describing exactly how RZAs beat felt. That bass line is dark tinted and opium scented.🔥👍👍
That's a good description of the beat. Have you checked out my "Wu Tang Universe" playlist?
@@ABoomerReacts of course, I mean finally GZA 4th chamber 😋
@@stemid85 Roger that.
Ive been to 3 WU Tang concerts, and the most recent one I went to (09/18/22) was the first one I attended where they performed this song.......When the intro of this song drop, the concert venue went absolute APE SHIT........And when the beat dropped it was complete PANDEMONIUM. Everybody rhymed this song line for line. LEGENDARY SONG IN THE WU WORLD.......WU IS OUR BEATTLES OF '90S HIPHOP..........
That sounds awesome! Where was the concert?
@@ABoomerReacts Manassas, VA.....about 35mins from my hometown Washington DC.
This beat makes any place go Bananas!! 2 wu concerts all members, 1 Rza’s and 1 Killah Priest… everytime it gets you
Btw i live in The Netherlands
@@halveliko5731 Greetings from California! In what city did you see the concerts?
2 full wu concerts in Amsterdam, Rza was in Tilburg and Killah Priest in The Hague.. btw that was the time smoking was allowed inside then… what a time!
RZA's delivery is one of the best ever, his voice is so immense.
He's going to be on the new poll which comes out in 20 minutes.
Great reaction as always, I liked seeing you go back quickly over the lyrics. I know there's some who can break down the meaning of every Wu-Tang bar, but for me at least the lyrics generate more of a general feeling or mind space. It's like constant bouncing back and forth between some abstract metaphysical, historical, or fantasy realm with the present, actual world if that makes sense.
That makes total sense, Craig.
Yep im swiss so german and frencg are my mother tongue. Nevertheless im stunned how this is well written.
I mean these guys are really talented.
Sorry im maybe 45 years old but in the 90's these rappers knew how to write incredible songs
@@thibaultdemontfort331 People have commented that they've listen to some songs hundreds of times and are still hearing new things. Greetings from California!
@@ABoomerReacts yess im not only a hip hop fan.. Love also rock, psyché rock, electronic, Jazz etc..
Many rappers (in Europe as well) are often underrated or considered as stupid. Prodigy from Mob deep, Tupac, Nas and many others were good "kiclers" (= more or less "singers") but knew how to write.
Im far.to be fluent in english but with the time, i start to understand their slang. These guys were maybe not genious poets like Beaudelaire, Rimbaud etc. but they knew how to play wih words and had quiet a lot of vocabulary.
Ps: im.maybe an old stpud guy but today I do not find talented rappers like.you had from.early 90's .
Many "beatmakers" are still good in Hip hop but the song at the end is poor and the lyrics are just terrible
@@thibaultdemontfort331 You're definitely not a stupid man. I don't know a lot about the current rap scene. But plenty of people here say it's shitty.
I like it when u get deeper in your view of the song. it's better than just saying that you like it or not.
Check out “Cold World” from the same album. Inspectah Deck has an absolutely perfectly constructed verse on it.
Thanks for the suggestion, Brian! I'll add it to my list. (Inspectah Deck is my favorite)
I would advise you check out the version of that song off The Wu Chronicles compilation album. Same lyrics but a better beat than the beat off the original Liquid Swords ft D'Angelo. Same drum loops but just a better feel and it's also produced by Rza. The compilation Wu Chronicles was released in 99 but both versions of this track was released the same year This was back when they sold singles you would get alternate versions(remixes) and original versions on one cassette tape or cd and some if not a lot of but not every single release would would contain the beat (instrumental) no vocals [maybe just the hook (chorus) and adlibs if no other vocals]
@@calienteelfriende5842 Thanks for the heads up!
One of the best beats ever as well with the flow. No one could ever touch the Wu
I agree Dave. You have great taste in music.
Absolutely blew my mind the first time I heard this. Amazing beat, amazing verses. Great reaction Boomer
Thank you!
Yup, the 1st time hearing this beat I was like yoooo 😄
Gza is older statesman of the clan and an incredible wordsmith
Masterful work from everyone. From the amazing RZA beat, to everyones great lyrics and rhyming. One of my favorite Wu joints. Another great reaction Brian.
Thanks. John!
So glad you reacted to this one of my all time favourite wu tang songs,,,from one of my childhood movies shogun assassin 👍🏽
Is the beginning of the song from Shogun Assassin?
@@ABoomerReacts yes it is 🙏🏽
YES!!! Love this song!
The intro of that song is from Shogun Assassin, an adaptation of the Lone Wolf and Cub manga, which is arguably, the greatest historical manga of ALL TIME.
Organized Chaos! Why I'm a fan since day 1
amazing song from a dope album!
RZA was heavily involved with Kill Bills score
You're shitting me! How weird is that?
@@ABoomerReacts the friendship between RZA and Tarantino is pretty deep. They are both experts in Kung Fu movies and Tarantino produced RZAs movie. They met because Tarantino wanted RZA involved with the films score because of all the Kung Fu elements in the Wu Tangs sound.
@@mtcnaz I wonder if breaking wood with your fist is a chamber?
Another great one Brian
I truly enjoy the bio before you listen to the music and the way you listen while reading the lyrics and of course the the reaction after. You are honest and I'm happy to say that you're now now a full blown hip hop fan. Keep up the good work sir and much love
Thanks so much for telling me that! I really appreciate it.
@@ABoomerReacts I'm sorry if I bother you this late but since you are up and awake I think you should listen to A.G. ft KRS One ft Big pun Drop it heavy dirty version. No reaction needed because most people won't know this particular song but I promise you'll enjoy it because it's super lyrical and heavy ass beat. Thanks for all the fun sir and wishing you love and happiness
@@jungulbuny3159 Thanks for the tip! I will def watch it.
Yo home! You have the best reaction list EVER! 👍
Thank you! I couldn't do it without the help of viewers.
Hey Brian!! Great reaction!! Liquid Swordz is one of my all time favorite albums from start to end. Also, funny you mentioned Kill Bill 2. Did you know Quentin Taratino and RZA are friends and He had RZA do the score for the Kill Bill movies! Lastly, this is outside of fan favorites but you should check out Killa Priest's track called "Heavy Mental" not a beat heavy track but a great display of lyrical content. Well Stay up and keep them Bass levels bumping in your ride while cruising down the streets. 🙌🏽
Somebody told me about RZA and Kill Bill. I wonder if "breaking wood with your fist" is a chamber? I just put up a poll 5 minutes before reading your comment; and Killah Priest is on it with BIBLE.
That's that real Wu sound 🔥🔥🔥
Around that time I thought I understood the English language (I'm Dutch), but listening to the Wu I wasn't always too sure about that anymore 😄
Hah! Welcome to the club!
😁
The beginning of the song is a scene from the film Shogun Assassin (1980)
Thanks, Aaron! There is no way I'd know that by myself.
Hahaha. "The guy with the mustache", the Kung Fu Master in Kill Bill was played by Gordon Liu, the same guy in the 36th Chamber of Shaolin.. you should react to that movie.
I'm not good enough to react to movies yet. 😬
To be honest, when this came out people were mostly talking about Killah Priest and Rza verses!🤷🏾♂️ Rza flow was crazy with some hard lines… Killah Priest mindset was just on some next level/ godly thinking. I hear more people rap along with those 2 verses all the way through.
That's interesting. Hey, you should check out the new poll that drops in 10 minutes.
This track is fire 🔥

more gza asap please
Thanks, Scott! Recommend a song and I'll see if it's on my list.

Hearing this for the first time as a kid, my brain exploded. Had no idea what they were talking about about. But it was like cartoon characters. Craziness.
And I bet it's remained a favorite of yours to this day.

RZA uses afew dialogue samples from Shogun's Assasin Liquid Sword the title track has another sample before it starts.
Another dope track.
It's def on my request list.
that guy with the mustache was the same actor who starred in the Shaw Bros 36th Chamber of Shaolin
Now that is a great fun fact!
RZA is one of the great producers of that time! Love the beat! Wu took a lot of their samples from old kung fu movies... Thats why they say they come from the slums of Shaolin. One of my favorite underatted members is 'Inspectah Deck'. Check em out...
Thanks, Josh! if you watch some of my earlier reactions to Wu, you'll hear me say that Inspectah Deck is my favorite.
@@ABoomerReacts His voice and style sets him apart from the others for sure. My other favorite of course is Method Man. His lyrics are great!
If I put an Inspectah Deck song on a poll, what song should it be? Off one of his albums.
@@ABoomerReacts Inspectah Deck - City High is one of my favorite songs of his.

My reaction to Tragedy by RZA is next month.
@@ABoomerReacts can't wait!
@@ABoomerReacts I have to ask too. How did you get into hip-hop rap? I am trying to get through my dad by showing classic hip-hop. He his probably similar age to you. He says, he likes it... but, "they talk too fast for me to understand". And I want to show him the lyrics, because they I think that's the things that make them artists, poets. It'd be a cool conversation to go through your taught process on listening to a new artist.
@@jonporter1233 Thanks, Jon! I only got into rap and hip hop because of this channel. I had never listened to it before. I liked some 80's rap but as soon as gangsta rap took over, I checked out for 30 years.
I agree with your dad as far as the fast lyrics go and that's why I do lyric videos. When I react to a new artist, I always read a bio about them just so I know who I'm reacting to. I like the context it gives me. Maybe start your dad off with some male-female love songs. You Got Me by The Roots or I'll Be There by Method Man and Mary J.
You asked me recently to make you a list for these rappers so you could check out the modern rap renaissance that’s occurring so here you go.

Benny and Conway are mad nice, Stove got some good stuff too
Running around the same circles: 38 Spesh, Flee Lord, and Elcamino

@@DutchWeazel Thank you for the recommendations. I'll add them to my list.
Love Kill Bill, RZA did the amazing score for that film.
I didn't realize RZA was involved in Kill Bill. I just mentioned it because of the "breaking wood with your fist" scene. I wonder if that's one of the chambers?
Great track and featuring artists too. You just heard a Wu affiliated rapper known as Killah Priest. He is part of the group called Sunz of Man, I think I said another one of your reactions, they're also affiliated to the Wu Tang dynasty.
Yes, you touched on Kill Bill, that scene you mentioned had music playing in the background, composed by none other than the Rza :-)
It blew my mind when someone here told me that RZA did the music for Kill Bill. I just said that off-hand when I read about the 4th Chamber. I wonder if "breaking wood with your fist" is a chamber?
@@ABoomerReacts Wu Tang have many chambers for you to explore and discover the true greatness of not only the core nine/ten members, but it's affiliates too. Great reaction a few things Killah Priest verse is one a diss to all those on this track because they were clowning him in the studio and it was him comparing himself to great historical figures when they were recording this track and The Rza's verse was based on this concept of There's Only 5 Years Left back then in 1995 the 5% teachings was by the year 2000 the world was suppose to end as we know it because of The New World Order was suppose to take over
