In the "AIDS" part of gorgeous, he's referring to the conspiracies of how the government tested biological weapons (especially HIV) on black and impoverished neighborhoods in the 50s.
for me the beauty of this album is incredible and the importance of this album in Kanye's catalog is insane. This is the gray of New Kanye and Old Kanye. The story of the creation of this album and the dual meaning of the album after power is incredible, the story could be talking about his toxic relationship with the woman he spoke about or his toxic relationship with fame... it's all up for interpretation if you have extra time I recommend watching a video on this album's creation loved your reaction btw
The perspective Kanye is rapping in on a lot of the songs in this album can be taken in multiple ways, with the more interesting perspective being that in a lot of these songs Kanye is referring to his fame and artistic career rather than a person. For example on all of the lights you could take the lyrics for face value and they make total sense telling a story of a father who cannot reach out to his daughter and raise her anymore. However, at the time of this albums release Kanye himself had no children and was in a lot of controversy due to interrupting Taylor swift at the VMA awards. So you can take what he is saying about 'slapping his girl' and spending time in jail and losing money as representing the time after this incident where Kanye stepped out of the limelight and made this very album due to all the backlash he was facing. Another track where this thinking applies is runaway where the main chorus could be speaking directly to the woman Kanye was dating at the time Amber Rose or to the public and the media, almost acting as a sort of apology for the Taylor Swift incident and stating that he is all the things he states in the chorus but also that it isn't going to change anytime soon. Also just to add some more information on the whole Taylor Swift VMA incident and how impactful that was, the backlash Kanye got from that literally made him go into hiding and contemplate suicide multiple times which he brings up in Power.
also the outro of runaway is symbolism of kanye being misinterpreted by the media and not being able to express himself. he’s just singing the chorus but it means a lot more than just the chorus.
@@TheReactionBarbtw the end of power is talking about how Kanye album ended his own life the year before, if want to learn about it look up Never See Me Again, it was a unreleased song/suicide note
i like how u are into story and narrative, thats one of my favorite aspects of kanye. He treats his whole career as one art project so each album and performance art/interview are apart of the larger story. this one is 3 act structure, and similar to the Wizard of Oz story. The death in Power is the loss of innocence into the funeral music of the interlude. Then it goes through the middle section where it acts as a dream/nightmare sequence (All of the lights to Devil in a new dress). The Runaway note is the alarm that wakes him up and he has to face reality going through his issues with intimacy then ending with him being aware of the facade of the American dream. Also, for Hell of a Life - the ending of the song is there to show that it's just him watching porn and using it to try and escape the loneliness. During the song, even when he's trying to use escapism, he can't avoid the issue of exploitation, and yeah it's sad. Then, Blame Game ending is even worse, with some borderline sadomasochism. Its for sure a psychological thriller of an album, would love to see more kanye reactions. He has a whole film released with this, as well, called Runaway, its like 30 minutes long
Holy dude this is an awesome reaction, you are so underrated! You got nearly every aspect of the album right, especially that thing with POWER being the end of his actual life and everything after being the afterlife and regret Also, the "Can we get much higher" thing that you were hearing was probably from the One Piece edits that were real popular like 3 years ago
@@TheReactionBar will you listen to yeezus? i find that it's kinda like a sequel to this album, but it uses heavy satire and instead of using a maximalist production it uses minimalism to make some pretty grand music. if this album is like an analogy of being a villain, yeezus is a full on characterization. its my fave
@@TheReactionBarbtw I’m only half way done with the video, but on runaway the ending in case you didn’t know, it’s about the media distorting him and cancel him
This album took Ye’s production to the next level where he started to use the human voice as an instrument as he had mastered production in all other aspects. This is why you hear the distortions in the vocals but it’s to utilize them as an instrument that is unique to him as it’s his voice rather then to add an element to the vocals. So you have an homage to his production evolution as elements of his whole career are throughout the album, but then the introduction of something not done in mainstream hip-hop with the voice as an instrument which is basically like a magnus opus because where do you go from there. When tied into the concept of the album and the lyrics, you see layers on layers and that is why it was album of the decade
The metaphor for Hell Of A Life is that he’s watching porn, and dreams of a life with a pornstar that he is watching, because he is so lonely. And if you notice in the chorus, he never says “Hell of a life” because he doesn’t pronounce the f at all, which means he’s actually saying “Hell of a lie” because he’s dreaming of living with this woman because he just wants to have someone to love and loves him, and at the end it kind of snaps back to reality with him masterbating, you can hear his deep breathing with the moaning of the woman on the video in the background. Also one more thing, the first three songs are reality, but then he kills himself at the end of POWER, All Of The Lights (Interlude) is like funeral music, and everything after that is just in mind, and through every song, you get deeper and deeper into it. I love this album, it’s my personal favourite, and I’ve analyzed every song, and I’ve listened to season on a podcast dedicated to analyzing this whole album (it was like 8 hours in total), so if you have any questions about any of the songs I can answer them. Also, amazing video, it seems like you definitely know what you’re talking about. This is my favourite reaction I’ve seen.
@@TheReactionBarbtw the Kanye verse on lost in the world, is a poem he wrote to Kim, also there is a 40 movie of this album by ye on UA-cam titled runway you should react to it
Oh and another thing, at the end of Blame Game, that Chris Rock part is supposed to be something that Kanye makes in his imagination, so it’s not really Kanye corrupting her, it’s what he wants to believe happens, it’s showing he’s blaming her in the end.
Raekwon, the one you said sounds like MF DOOM, he’s a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, another member also appears in MBDTF, RZA, as a producer and feature. So you should react to 36 Chambers if you haven’t already
IM SO APPALLED! at ~34:00 lol did you not hear Jay Z and Pushas verses lol. You seem pretty smart but sometimes take a step back. Catch things holistically. Not everything is face value. Kanye really is a musical genius both as a producer and rapper. and he's one of the artists you'll listen to a song forever then one day it'll just hit you in a whole different light, or you'll catch something new. Let the album sit with you
Man I have only come 22 minutes in to the video but you're great! Made me laugh when you commenting on the stupid bars 😂 You got yourself a new subscriber! You're plannig on reacting to his other albums? I would like to see that. Keep up the good work! 😃
Btw, Rick Ross absolutely makes double what Tupac did. Rap wasnt nearly as profitable in the 90s
That makes sense
Thx for the comment
And Ross is also a business man, he’s also probably Richer than Drake
Tupac was really in it for the spirit.

great, simple and to the point reaction!

Great reaction. Nice insights in first listen! Kanye’s work rewards over time. Hope there is more of his discography for you to explore.
