Wish I had a video like this a couple years ago😂, bought a 700$ 7th gen with a battery light took me a few months to figure it out ,it had a burnt ecu keeping the alternator from supplying the battery the proper 14v so it would just idle different and run off 12v drain the battery until it jumps Into limphome mode or stalled
TY. Just did the alternator. Will go back with a ground cable. Got 270K miles now, and yes, did the head gasket and so far lucky on the auto trans. Frequent ATF changes and put a cooler on it. Learned that the internal ( non serviceable ) trans filter will clog. Putting an external filter on soon.
Add a Battery Cable or a heavy Gage Wire and attach it to the bolt that goes into the block for extra ground. Or pull the bolt and put Locktite Blue on the threads and a lock nut for double security before it happens.
Yup, having this odd issue and it must have fried my ECU. Limp mode, CEL codes for low voltage, rod knock sensor and Cat Converter code (straight piped) I’ve had battery / Alternator issues for months just been boosting almost every time before start up. It’s come down to the ECU since everything else has been swapped out (gonna install new grounds 1st) thanks for some confirmation!
Had this happened to my girlfriends car. Had to fix the issue and ECU swap and reflash the key. So this can cause major problems with your computer. And without reprogramming the new ecu it will never start but just attempt to start. So just be aware of these things
Hey! I’m getting ready to buy an 02 civic. I am unsure because the transmission needs to be replaced it’s at 181xxx miles, the wheels are rusty too which I found unusual. Do you think it’s normal to have to replace the transmission on a civic at this stage? Thank you
At that age and mileage it isn't uncommon to have to change the transmission if it was not maintained properly. Also if the stock rims have surface rust on them it is normal.
This gen is decent but has too many problems, I've had mine for over 12 yrs and just about replace every part of this vehicle including the engine since this gen has an overheating issue that is impossible to solve, which leads to head gasket being replaced
Get a ground for it. My mechanic didn't tighten the bolts tight on my alternator and I had the very same problem, to replace this component at Honda was $1,090.00 just for the part.
Not sure I'm experiencing jerking problems when accelerating on hot weather. Also when it jerks , the system resets. No codes. A lot of times when I start the car car would squeal.
@@iceicebaby7245 the ecu seems to be fried. If hear that click and see your engine and battery light off and on that's your ecu. I tried replacing the cam and crank sensor didn't work. I send this car to the junk yard. If you got the money to replace ecu, but try replacing those two sensor first. If ya need any more questions I'm here to help.
oh man that sux..hope u get it all fixed up!
Thank you bro!

All cars needs the ground to be tight.

So will I have this issue with my ex? Just wondering cause if so I'm going to go ahead and buy what I need

Hi you doing sir
On that Honda civic did it scan ????
Because on my Honda civic 2002 won’t scan at all….
This happened to me but the engine won’t shift into any gear could it be the ECU?
Same problem
@@ashtongarn4262replaced tranny fixed.
The head gaskets failing is a little bigger issue.
Id rather replace that then the ecu and have to reflash

Have you found a fix for this issue I have the same one

Mines 2001 how do I know which type of engine I have I already know it’s D17 but what type of d17
On the front left of the engine block there is an engine code.
I actually had a big issue because of this. My alternator wasn't bolted down and because of that it blew out my ecu! $1300 fix unfortunately
Hey plz lmk if I should buy a used 2002 civic it runs good bit idk how to know it doesn’t have problems I just need a daily driver would appreciate it
The 2002 civic is a good car. I would be sure that it doesn't have a check engine light or over heating issues though.
rear main seal leaks for mine otherwise a great car
They are great cars!
My already has 200,000 and no issues lol
3 rpms???
Thank you for this JDM
No problem!
