Sweet build! I'm building a sleeper K24A2 swapped 04 sedan. I got it running and driving, but I still have a lot more work to do as I can afford to. Your video gave me some ideas though, thanks for taking the time to share!
@@atlmisaa750 Nice! Of course whether something is worth it or not is subjective, but I don't regret doing the swap one bit. Honestly the most stressful part of the swap for me was having trouble finding the parts for reasonable prices, especially the transmission. At least where I live, any RSX/Civic Si specific parts like the sub frame, wiring harness, transmission, etc are next to impossible to find and I spent countless hours and over a year looking for the parts. Of course if you can afford to go on eBay and spend $2k+ on a transmission, $500 on a subframe, $400 on a wiring harness, etc it won't be a problem at all. The swap itself is pretty simple, the only tricky part is that the engine is somewhat of a tight fit. At least on my K24A2, taking off the upper intake manifold before installation helps a lot. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions or would like me to make a video of anything specific just let me know. 😁
That is a nice ass ride you got there. You’re putting my car to shame. I own a 04 Honda Civic Ex coupe that I plan on modifying to be a cool ass hot rod. I love what you did to your civic because it looks like a fucking gem. 😊😊😊😊
I love the EM2s . 2001 - 2002 have orange back lit gauge cluster with that light gray background cluster 2003-2005 Ex coupe came with the newer look red and black gauge cluster EXCLUSIVE to this year's. The trims the EM2 start is the VP,HX,DX,LX and EX. I think yours was a Dx or Vp cause ubhad that black with blue gauge cluster without the tachometer. It was supplementing the Fuel and Temp gauge
Em2 civics are my favorite civics even over the 99 si. Idc I love the way they sit lowered the rear end is soooo wide and sexy the tail lights look so cool at night. There such a stable fun car to drive they handle so well when there lowered honda knew what they were doing when they designed the chasis and body style of the vehicle highly recommend them.
I'm trying to wrap up my K24 swapped EM2 and I wish my radiator install was that clean. mine was too tall and someone before me had notched the cover to clear it.
I used an eBay RSX radiator and it fit pretty well, I just had to trim the sides of the radiator support a bit since the RSX rad is a few inches wider. Totally worth the little bit of extra work for the extra cooling capacity though. I have heard that the upper cover needs to be trimmed to use the RSX radiator, but as long as the gaps are reasonably well sealed with foam or something so a large amount of air can't blow through them it's okay. Not sure yet since I'm still trying to find a white upper grill lol
auto passenger window only is a common safety design on base models so people are not trying to reach across the car and wreck while trying to roll up the window from the driver side and probably didn't work because there is a re-learn procedure for power window modules in some 7th gen civics if the power window module won't work after having the battery disconnected.
Really nice, man 😁 Started following when you planned on starting - haven't watched more yet. I enjoy taking it all in with one sitting 🤪👌🏼 So really stoked to look at the build now. Also, im european from norway and when you say RSX it sounds like RS6 to me, so that was funny (imagined that without subtitles 😅👍🏻) Honda with RS6 parts, hehehe. Thanks for sharing! And now its time for me to start the playlist on the bigscreen. Take care, man
lol clean af under the hood i have a 04 ex coupe its auto but still a good contender for a swap.. im glad alot of the stuff is interchangeable from the rsx. Wish i had that swap its clean.
Hey! Those rust rust spots shown at 16:55 ! Clear those out ASAP, my EM2 came with massive rust holes in those spots, wish the previous owner caught them sooner
All my life i wanted to build one of these, i might get 2 idk if im intrested enough to buy and modify one but seems like a journey id be willing to take
I put a K24A4 from an accord in my 04 EM2. I can't figure out reverse lights. I tried the wiring recommended by a honda thread online, but they still don't come on. It involved grounding one wire and moving another wire to a relay behind glove box.
Great build, i have a question about the spal fans, did you use any relay kit to wiring? because i have an RSX and with stock harness and i want to know if i can intall them without the relay kit.
nice and clean, too bad for the rust spots but those aren't too bad. I am getting a em2 with a k20 swapped sometime this month, low miles motors in Germany it's super rare to find one for the price I found it. You plan to supercharge it or anything? from what I read these motors can take boost on stock internals pretty good
Yo bro you have to show me how you wired up your heater! I have a turbo kswap em2 and when I finished the swap I noticed it dosent blow cold nor hot 🤷🏻♂️ noticed you have the same problem I believe 😅 would like to get it correctly fixed but I need the heat for them rainy days as it’s my daily 💪
I have an em2 and was wondering about the brake lines that go into a box right above the trans mount. Is that the abs cluster and that’s why you don’t have it? It’s an ugly pile and I want to get rid of it when I do my swap but it has a hunk of a wiring harness plugged into it. Just wondering if I can ditch that some how?
I have 32 episodes/parts for the em2 swap. I’m sure I covered it in one of them videos. You could also follow this DIY ua-cam.com/video/2C3dCsJZ884/v-deo.html
The ABS unit? You could eliminate it, but you would have to replace all the brake lines with the non ABS ones. You can get them cheap from a junkyard as long as you don't live in the rust belt, but changing them is a bit of work.
It’s right in front of the driver side strut tower. It’s a block with brake lines running in and out of it with part of a harness plugged into it. It’s an eyesore I’m the engine bay and would love to remove it. I definitely live in the rust belt of upstate New York. So finding anything brake related other then trailing arms and calipers is a crap shoot. I’ll check over the videos again. Thank you
Is this a rex type s tranny if so does the reverse loxk out work like factory with the stock engine harness. And is tthere a shifter that has a lock out ring.
On a daily driver, it's not a big deal IMO. On these cars, it seems the back sway bar is more important than the front. Some of the people I know who autocross their 7th gen Civics claim to get slightly better times with just the rear bar and not the front. If you want to see for yourself, just take off one of the sway bar links and go for a drive. That's how it will feel if you take it off.
excellent project, I'm having problems with my motor harness, it's missing connectors, can you tell me the name of the seller of your harness to get it, I bought mine on ebay too but it came out defective, I already gave you like👍🔥

@Deemossi dude that engine bay looks clean asf. How much did that swap cost ya and did you do the work yourself? In regards to suspension are those lowering springs? I have a 2000 Civic EK and I can’t stand the fact it’s automatic but not to toot my own horn lmao but it’s cleans asf. I got it 4 years ago with 67,800 original miles and currently has 82,575 miles. I won’t be able to do the swap myself plus modifying it from auto to stick all together might cost me a bit. I wanna drop the car but not a whole lot. I was told if I get coil overs that I’d have to get a camber kit whereas if I just get lowering springs (Eibach & KYB shock/struts) I won’t have to get a camber kit. I just completed a few mods like an Yonaka Cat back exhaust, got my windows tinted, replaced the headlight assemblies and twilight assemblies with smoked ones, OEM fog lights, all exterior lighting are LED, new SI wheels w/ Hankook 205/50 R15, front and rear Type R lips, put a CRV gauge cluster since mine didn’t have a tach (wanted an SI cluster but they going for $500 plus my car is an auto and has the lights for PRND, installed a JDI push to start, changed the climate control light to amber ones so they match the cluster color and put a center console in since mine didn’t have one cuz it’s the DX.
Hey liked the vid, I gotta a couple questions. Long and short, I found one of these same red 2004 em2 ex's forsale with a blown engine, I only have the pictures in the sale add to look at but appears to me to be 6.9 out of 10 condition, small dents, clear coat looking scaly in smaller areas (its a tow yard and he said thinks around 200,000 miles). It's a manual (ex obviously is), it definitely looks good from my house) lol. Its all original with the aluminum rims. So they want 1k and standing firm right now, I feel like that's to much or am I not seeing value in this car that I should? I offered 500 bucks, its 3 hours away but I want it lol..but the price seems high to me. All that said. I have a 2001 silver em2 with a blown automatic trans in the garage right now, so I have the running d17a2 to swap into this other car..there both the same 1.7 vtec's obviously, so I'm readdy with all the parts to make this red manual em2 hit the road. Sorry for the long question, I'm new to Honda's and you got the exact car I'm looking to get.
Well, this is 5 months later so maybe not helpful, but if this is your first foray into a Honda platform, this is arguably one of the absolute easiest to work on, but definitely not one of the most exciting Honda platforms. If you want the car, it isn't anyone else's place to tell you how to spend your money, but make intelligent and informed purchases, not emotional ones. Understand your goals, and what problems you may encounter with the platform, and make your choice based on that. That said, for $1000 for the chassis, if you're willing to drop a new motor in (d17's are kinda mid, i'd almost just immediately start shopping k20's in your position if finances allow it) and if the chassis is in good shape, I'd personally send it. If this video didn't make it clear enough, this is 99% the same chassis as the RSX. I picked this platform for myself because I saw value in that alone, but that's me and obviously value is subjective. Good luck! Hope you find something you love!
