Years ago a friend and I were hiking and came across a sign that said, "Pull the rope." We did. Someone had tied a can of beer to the end and placed it in the stream just off the trail. Perhaps the best half beer of my life provided by a generous soul.
"What's that smell?" "Oh it's only Pat flambéing his crêpe Suzette in the woods". Brilliant video, thanks for all the effort you put into it. Really made my day.
"I've returned the campsite to exactly how it was before I camped. Nobody would even know that I had been here. And that's how it should be". And yet you still lived like Louis XIV in those few hours in a hedge. Such wise words, appreciation of life, culture and nature, and promotion of responsibility are why you are such a legend to so many folk Pat. Thank you for another thoroughly entertaining video! Cheers. Rich. 👍

Perhaps a behind the scenes video of your filming techniques would be very interesting (unless you've already done it and I haven't watched it yet)...? Not sure why but, with the music at the start and then you emerging from around the tree, I couldn't help thinking of the last of the summer wine lol. You do look a little like Compo too by the way ;)
The problem is that I never liked Ello Ello (sorry, I just didn’t). But I absolutely loved The Last of the Summer Wine and Compo was a legend! Pat definitely fits into that second category :)

Patrick - I've watched your videos for several years and each time is as interesting as the last! Your videos are wonderful! Thanks and please keep going!
Sitting here at home in France watching. Reminds me of how it all started with me and a book my sister gave me for my birthday. 'Backpacking in Britain' by Robin Adshead........It disappeared over the years but I came across a copy whilst in an old book shop a few years ago. £2.50...... I couldn't hand over my money quick enough. Also remember having a 'Camp trails' catalogue which was the 'in thing' back then....I was young and had no money but my dream was a 'Robert Saunders backpacker' tent, a 'Camp trails' rucksack and a 'Trangia'....Eventually I ended up with a nylon 'Vango force ten' a 'Karrimor' rucksack and 'SVEA 123' stove....Still got them and still use them.....If only I had your cooking skills Patrick.........
Yes Richard, some old backpacking books were like bibles describing in detail the way to actually live comfortably and lightweight in the hills. The early gear was so well made, that,s why we are still using it today, thanks Pat
As I mentioned before you've been tempting me to go back to wildcamping here on Vancouver Island. We do tend to get bears and cougars near us however which changes the dynamic a bit ;)
When I was younger (back in the 70s) we would wade beaver ponds here in eastern Virginia (US) at night with a light and gig to get our frogs. Delicious, like chicken, I would tell my daughters. Another wonderfull video, thanks.
How lovely oooh la la, bonjour. I bet you are on top of the world. First camp in many a moon. Lovely seeing you today. God bless you,and keep you safe 💕
Inspired by your videos I bought a little tent a couple of summers ago, only got out once but this week have pitched it in some woodland at the back of my flat in Sheffield a spot very unlikely to be stumbled upon. I even saw a deer a couple of days ago, the first wild one I've seen other than in Scotland and north Yorkshire. Up until a few months ago I had a large garden but I'll be spending my lazy summer days at my woodland hideaway wild camp site this year.
Great business idea, culture, camping & cooking with Pat all polished off with a tipple of something nice. I’d pay for it, what an experience it would be. Yet another great video Pat!
I started watching this because I find M. Dickinson quite the captivating watch...but before long I became fascinated as to how one might cook up a fish soup on a leaf-strewn floor in the great outdoors. It's an impressive effort. Cheers!
Patrick, thank you for another peach of a camp with a surprising Gallic theme. Your cooking antics cracked me up. You resembled a bushcraft Keith Floyd, the notorious red wine quaffing chef, with your liberal blandishments of white wine during your French cooking endeavours. Hilarious my man. Well done and thank you.
It's good to see Patrick back to doing what Patrick does best, I am going to have a go at the fish soup it looks very quick and easy to make, and that is the way I like cooking to be.
Bonjour Le frogs legs eater Anglais ! I ate them when I was working in France and was surprised how nicw they were ! Thanks for another semi-wild camp Patrick !
I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I enjoy your videos. I was born and raised in Sheffield in the roughly the same neighbourhood (up near Whiteley Woods). I moved away as an adult, first to London for work, and then most recently I was living in San Francisco for 10 years. Last year I was thinking it was time to return home though, so started looking for Sheffield videos on youtube, which is when I stumbled across your channel. Your videos helped remind me how good it would be to be back here in Sheffield again. So I'm back here in Sheffield as of the end of last year, just a few mintues walk from the parks leading up into the peaks. Sadly with the timing of the lockdown, and unfortunately now going through cancer treatment, I haven't really got out much yet. But thank you so much for continuing to make these lovely videos. They make me feel happy to be back in Sheffield and remind me of some of the things I am most looking forward to enjoying when things get back to normal. I'll keep watching them for as long as you keep making them. Thanks again!
Hi Alex and hope yoy get back to normal soon, yes I was born on Oakbrook Rd oppostite Whiteley woods, but I never left and still live only a coiple of miles away. Yoy may of noticed the city is changing rapidly due to all new contruction works, but luckly the hills and parks have stayed the same.....all the best Pat
@@lxpollitt Hi Alex, just found your comment, great to bump into you last week, always nice to meet my viewers, we both live in a lovely area, just walked up to Nethergreen where I was born, nice cup of coffee in the cafe on Oakbrook rd, may bump into you again, hope everything works out OK, all the best Pat
The little "hmm" at 19:07. 🧡 it. I have never had 🐸 legs, and I don't think I ever will. Just not my kind of food. My wife and daughters will definitely try it, given the opportunity. Edite note 2 You can have eggs and bacon when you have a (french) continental breakfast. We just don't have the beans, kippers, sausages, and definitely no kidneys 😉.
Love trying different food, and frogs legs fitted the bill perfect and glad you got the humour, makes a video so much more enjoyable to watch, especially in the present climate, thanks Pat

You have to take your time, wait for it. This video is not a quick hit and run. Love the content, so individual. Really enjoyed it. Galloping Gourmet in a tent!
I watched the last video again. I go to the sea myself for the summer, or really for the whole year. The house is what it is, but can withstand winds and gusts. Simple life but wonderful. I wish you and the family all the best ... I look forward to the new video. Respectfully. Dennis
That french wild camping was brilliant, you should av your own tv slot you are a gentleman , you are funny as well great entertainment , nice one Patrick 🙌🍽🍺
''I'm not carrying that...' says he. With his crystal glass, cutesy wine-table and high falutin nosh. What's next out of the rucksack? A Louis XIV chaise-longue, un Chien-Du-Roi, le Citroen Deux Chevaux, le pop-up Chateau, wine cellar bursting its corsets avec les vins superior, and all the rest of it. Only Pat, yes, only he, with another corking feel-good cook-out in a brill setting. Sir, I salute you yet again. Cheers owd luv.
Thank you very much, you have to have standards, the wine tastes better in a glass, now don,t know how your fixed but I could do with a wine waiter on one of these camps.... all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 True story- A mate of mine, was doing his driver training on BR. He was making a reet pigs foot of some aspect or other. His instructor, a patient fellow who never swore etc. lost his rag and scolded ''as a driver you'd make a *&$$" better wine waiter on the Pullman!''. Well. We were shocked. Now, this mate o' mine is a manager on Eurotunnel, and gets all the free trips he can swallow to stock his wine rack. There's karma, isn't it? I asked if he was interested in the position, but he demurred. Ne'mind. Take it easy Pat,, all the very best.
Good to see what you do best and now we have added fresh cooking to the list. No English breakfast though well you have plenty of time for those in the future. What a great camp location secluded in the woodland loving the birdsong and the french cooking the fresh soup looked good with all that fish. Stay safe and see you again soon.
He haw he haw he haw mon ami! Many thanks for posting, looks like a very nice spot and a cracking menu. All the best mate, thanks for posting and putting a smile on my miserable face! Take care. Nick
Allo Allo Sir Patrick! Classic Allo Allo wild camp and Allo Allo was a classic tv show which was so funny to watch and Gordon Kaye was the best in show. Great French food and classic wild camp. You picked a great little spot and the French meal looked very nice! I've never tried frogs legs but I've tried squid and was nice. Great to see you out camping again so things are starting to look better now that we are slowly getting back to normal now. I've bought new tents 4 season ones that's so lightweight. Friday I did a wild camp in the highlands near the Cairngorms national park and it felt fantastic! Last night I got back home and so so tired because it was so much fun! Glad you enjoyed that French meal and soup take me back when I had something like that in iloret de mar in Costa Brava seaside resort and I remember the scotch corner to get great meals. Those were the great days Glad you got a good day for cooking french meal and wine to add the flavour! How about a last of the summer wine wild camp theme and another great classic British tv series. That would be awesome as nora batty and compo were so classic together! Another classic wild camp from you and stay safe and well!!!
Hi and glad you got out on your wildcamp, such a great feeling, and your right very tiring, the physical side of it, but also the mental side of it, has your planning gone to plan. I like to have a theme for my wild camps and as I can not travel to France, this was a good excuse for a camp Looking forward to a better year all the best Pat 😊
Only subscribed to your channel last week. I've watched all your videos and find them absolutely brilliant. Your videos in pub are great. Your a true legend. Can't get enough of em
Thanks Robert and great that you enjoyed them, usually put a video on each month, pub was great and helped me through lockdown, but back out wild camping now, all the best Pat 👍
I saw you on Sunday walking up Manchester Road and shouted hello, we were properly star-struck! The night before we were watching this video, roast beef dinner cooked in the oven, and Ladybower plughole, top effort! All the best 👍

Hi Gail, yes hope to be back out cooking later on, but enjoying a break at moment, recharge my batteries and hopefully comeback with some new ideas, or just the old ones........ thanks Pat 😊
Pat, you are brilliant. I believe that you could have been big in entertainment, even in the French film industry of the 1970s. Can you remember the great films they produced, a lot better than the Hollywood rubbish. For a Sheffield lad you carry so much culture. Peace be unto you.
Hi Martin, didn't really get into filming until I retired, great asa hobby, not sure about a career though, at least now I just produce my videos for pleasure and fun....... thanks Pat
Bon appétit! Wow you really have outdone yourself on that meal! And a perfect location with the birds chirping away in a beautiful forest. Thanks for sharing Pat. Cheers

Thank you for bringing me wild camping. I went last weekend with a few mates from work, we camped in Maryland, USA
Wow sounds great....good to have you along on my little French trip, thanks Pat
I watched the last video again. I go to the sea myself for the summer, or really for the whole year. The house is what it is, but can withstand winds and gusts. Simple life but wonderful. I wish you and the family all the best ... I look forward to the new video. Respectfully. Dennis
thanks Dennis

I'm laid up with long covid.
It's keeping me sane. Thanks.

French cuisine, that`s what you call posh wild camping. Great wee video, thanks,
My pleasure!
@@patrickdickinson6492 True story-
A mate of mine, was doing his driver training on BR.
Thanks David, yes a woodland in Spring, just perfect, thanks Pat

Those were the great days
Glad you got a good day for cooking french meal and wine to add the flavour!
I like to have a theme for my wild camps and as I can not travel to France, this was a good excuse for a camp
Looking forward to a better year all the best Pat 😊

Pat, you are brilliant. I believe that you could have been big in entertainment, even in the French film industry of the 1970s. Can you remember the great films they produced, a lot better than the Hollywood rubbish. For a Sheffield lad you carry so much culture. Peace be unto you.
Hi Martin, didn't really get into filming until I retired, great asa hobby, not sure about a career though, at least now I just produce my videos for pleasure and fun....... thanks Pat
