Rainy Suburb Stealth Camping

- Just a little rainy camping trip in the woods of a new neighborhood under construction. I used the hammock again on this trip because it was the best shelter for the situation. Sloping ground, lots of good trees, and lots of rain. Camping in hammocks is always my choice when there will be lots of rain.

If you camped in your backyard every week, I'd still watch every week.
that would be so boring please don't make him boring I want to see him play with getting caught red handed camping
Me too
The day he gets caught will be his most watched video 😂😂😂
yup!
Hahahahahaha I agree😂😀👍
“Workin’ on some BEER in the woods, that’s what I’m workin’ on!” 😂😂😂 09:35
Lol, that was classic. Great videos as always!
That was my favourite bit
This needs to be on a t-shirt
I just made the same comment above before seeing yours..Classic quote.
Yeah, I cracked up when he said that! LOL!
The completely unnecessary stealth cracks of the can is comedic genius. He talks louder than the crack before and after the crack for extended periods of time. But we GOT to master the stealth crack! I love Steve.
I know that's what makes for a fun watch.
I can't tell you how much I've thought about the passing of a woman I never even laid eyes on over the last couple of days. I could see the emotion and getting choked up at the end of this video which said to me that things at that time were not looking good, and it sounded like you didn't want to go on the road, but I can almost bet money your beautiful wife was telling you to go ahead and go. Your genuineness as a human being has always shined through on the screen and in your interactions with your subscribers online. I don't think think I've ever watched anyone on UA-cam whose emotions just came through the screen to me when you had to make a video you hoped you'd never have to make.
That was a whitetail deer making that sneezing sound. It busted you, it smelled you down wind and that sound was the deer forcing air out of its nose as a warning to other deer that " I smell something bad, don't come over here" they also stomp one hoof when they do that. It's a warning to other deer. It can sound so strange if you've never heard it before. Awesome video Steve
I came to the comment section to find out who knew the source of that sound. Thanks.
@@MsRotorwings Same
Snort weeze but the west side of the continent has blacktail/mule deer mostly. If its British Columbia it was probably a blacktail
💯
Years ago my Scoutmaster was deer hunting and had a doe make that noise right behind him. He was lying prone above a small ravine with a game trail along the bottom of it. When the doe made that noise it startled him and he knocked his shotgun down into the ravine. He rolled over and was face to face with the doe for a few seconds, then it turned and ran off.
"Workin' on some beer in the woods, that's what I'm workin on" That quote is fantastic.
Keep on staying stealthy Steve!
Definitely need a shirt with that quote on it.
@@travissienknecht9265 yes we need a shirt for that one!
Steve doesn't lie...
Omg 😃 so appropriate 😂
Classic hahahaha
The end of this video killed me steve. I know you won’t see this comment, but after being with you through everything and then hearing the end of the video, it made me cry hard, I literally shed many tears again for you my friend. Just a horrible thing, stay strong my good man, know that everyone is here for you you amazing bloke.
That noise was a deer of some sort blowing at you because it either sees you or smells you. Not usually a threatening noise, just alerts other deer. love the videos!
It sounded terrifying!
If it was a buck in they hear or see you a buck makes that sound to let you know that they are there as a warning. At my aunt's I heard 12 that when I was throwing the trash out into the dumpster I couldn't see him but I heard him I ran back into the house
Thanks for the info!
Definitely a deer. I have never heard one do it that many times though.
I thought that was a wild screwdriver...
That animal sound was from a doe alerting others of ur prescence. We have 3 doe in our woods that travel together and the 1 in front will snort like this when she is ready to move on from an area. It's quite an alarming sound, especially if you don't know what is making it! Anyway, great video the beast burger looked delicious too lol
100%
Might have been a Sasquatch imitating a deer to be sneaky.
Thanks for sharing that bit of info. Good to know that if I hear that in the woods, I don't need to wet my pants in fear!
Yup, they do that at me in my front yard all the time. 1st time I heard it I was like "Bless you". LOL
Right. We call it “blowing” down here in the south. Lol
Best thing about your channel is not even about camping its you, Steve. Genuine people are very hard to come by nowadays mate. All the best!
Steve's voice reminds me of Bob Ross - very easy to listen to.
Especially on UA-cam!
Unfortunately, on social media, genuine people tend to not succeed with their videos just being themselves.
It’s hard to watch your videos today I’m so sorry for your loss it’s been heavy on my mind I hope you’re ok Steve
Steve you seemed to be getting a little choked up there at the end. I can only speak for myself but all your videos are entertaining even if your just doing a simple basic stealth camp with nothing interesting going on. Your a likeable kind of person and will always tune in to watch. Keep being you and don’t apologize for anything. You take your time to post your camping videos for others to watch. We should be thanking you! Anyways great video this week Steve keep on keeping on!
Though it was just me but he did seem to get choked up.
well i guess we have our answer now :(
@@Yasmine-mm1yc Probably referencing the unfortunate passing of Steve's lovely wife in the last few days... though, after this video was recorded.
@@Yasmine-mm1yc i probably shouldnt speculate but it seems like she might have already been ill when he recorded this
Knowing what happened today, we know why. Hang tough Steve
I get a sence of calm when Steve says, "everything is gonna be just fine". I even say it to myself in his voice to ease anxiety. Thanks Steve.
Love that
Sense
Me and my girlfriend both suffer from Anxiety and I was telling a few months back about Steve saying “Everything is gonna be just fine” 😂 not sure if is helped her much but it sure helps me.
@@BeetleJuice666-v9w Everything is gonna be just fine.
Same here!!
Don't apologize for the "boring" videos! They are the best! I love the simple, quiet comfortable feeling of them.. I can imagine myself sleeping in a hammock behind a construction site or even floating down a river with crazy neighbor. But that is as exciting as I want to get. If I wanted more, I would watch all those extreme channels instead of Steve Wallis..
Nicely put! "the simple, quiet comfortable feeling" resonates with me!
This wasnt boring at all, Buddy. Just hearing you talk about life and drink a step 2 in the woods, while enjoying some camping is good enough. It doesnt have to be an elaborate adventure every time. We follow you because we like you, Steve
Pure and authentic :)
Near the end of the video, when Steve is talking about striking a balance between being home and on the road he speaks of his Beautiful Wife, tears up and has some difficulty completing his sentence. In hindsight, I hope everything was OK then. I feel so sad for Steve.
You are thinking way too into this.
@@mcchickenmuhchicken not really
Exactly my thoughts.. I replayed that part several times. It's like he knew.. 😞
It looks like he was doing multiple takes of what he was gonna say and then just forgot to edit it to remove the ones he didn't want. Like he cleared his throat, took a second, and restated what he just said.
Steve, what you call a boring video, we all see as a wonderful 22 minutes of hunkering down with a buddy we look forward to relaxing with every week. The variety is great, but so is anything you share with all of us.
Hell Yeah
Parasocial relationship? Gonna be a yikes from me
I’m sure I’m not the only one who says we have NO problem if you revisit old stealth spots…even if the spot is the same, the experience and meal will be different. Keep up this great calming content!
Steve do a roundabout again!
MAYBE ON TOP OF A WALMART
Plus I just got here so it would be cool to see both with fresh eyes.

"I don't know how fairly they treat the drivers, or how fairly they treat the restaurant."
God I love you Steve.
What amazes me about watching you is that your wife let's you camp out whenever you want no questions asked..top woman.
Yes.....yes she was and will be greatly missed
"It's so strange that, you know, there's gonna be thousands of people who see this, and a whole bunch of comments, but in the moment, yeah I'm very alone here." I love it when Steve gets philosophical
Steve is always so humble, that's not a common thing with youtubers. It's probably part of the reason he is so popular.
Keep being you Steve.
Thank you Terry!
I'm catching up on a few videos that I missed and can't help but think how devastated Steve will be not long after making this video. In hindsight, it does seem he has some type of looming anxiety in his voice. I guess as someone who suffers with anxiety, I always have a sense of looming disaster in my mind even if there really isn't any!
Anyway, I hope he continues on healing, and no doubt there will be days with ups and downs for a long, long time. My thoughts are with you and your family, and everyone else that knew your beautiful wife 😢🥲
Don't forget Steve that we all love you and cherish the memory and how you brought beautiful wife to us. You are so caring and down to earth. With love from all of your subscribers
steve, i 100% speak for every single person on the internet when i say, we just need you man, the content almost doesn't matter. just like hearing you talk to us.

100%. We just need you. You could legit camp in a Starbucks and we would all tune in to see how you make it fun and exciting! Keep doing you man! Thank you for everything! :)
Steve’s easygoing friendly demeanor is a breath of fresh air.
That’s exactly what we say, he’s a beautiful soul with a calming presence 💜
Nothing beats having Door Dash deliver dinner while on a stealth mission.
"Door Dash....Let's Gooooooo!" LOL
Nothing!!
I do doordash here in Wisconsin, i hate delivering to a construction site during the day, these guys are ass hats and never tip, i sure wouldn't go at night... Steve i hope you tipped the driver..7
@@jasonmax5759 i Doordash, i would have bailed
@@Regina0964 I was thinking the same thing. There is no way I would have gone at night.
Imagine if the doordash delivery driver were a subscriber, that would be a very nice interaction
Also, don’t worry about posting a “boring video”, it certainly isn’t boring for me. I always crack open a step two with you, whether it’s tea, coffee, energy drink, or an actual step two. I’m sure a lot of us are on the same boat. We enjoy watching your videos, whatever you plan to do, keep it up 👍

When I watched this video I couldn’t help but notice you seemed to be getting emotional around 21:17 when you talk about getting home to beautiful wife. I figured you missed her and it tugged on my heart when I first watched and breaks my heart now😞 . Your love for her was always apparent in your videos. RIP beautiful wife. I never met you but I will miss you💙
Hope you're ok Steve. If there's something bothering you, talk to someone and get it off your chest... It's good to talk and remember, it's ok to not be ok 👌
Steve is an absolute ledgend for letting the young cupple "finish up" 😂
It was the right thing to do
Steve hears that final moan of satisfaction and knows it’s his que to set up camp
Imagine stumbling through some random woods and discovering a couple at it I would be so embarrassed for them
You've been on my mind a lot lately, Steve. I know its not much but I'm thinking of you and your experience right now. Hope the best for you man, I love your videos.
"Working on some beer in the woods that's what I'm working on" had me lolling.
When we watch your videos, it’s like an escape for a brief time from the craziness of work/life into nature. It feels like a journey we take with you, and I hope you keep going!

I’m currently stealth watching this in an open office at my desk and hoping nobody realises I’m not actually on a call with my ear pods in lol Now appreciating the anxiety levels that Steve feels when camping 😃

It's the thrill of the stealth!
That was funny, thanks for the laugh. Hope you didn't get busted stealth-tubing!
Did you step away from your desk to see what it looked like?
Everyone one else in the office is doing the same.
I love Steve and Crazy Neighbor. This is the best channel on UA-cam. Discovered it about a year ago and have watched all the videos. If you’re new, I highly recommend going back and watching Steve’s Boondocking video, it is amazing… and he has long hair!
I love how he's always excited that 2 trees next to each other line up with each other. I am not sure what other result he is expecting
I'm sure I'm in the minority with this opinion, but these kind of videos are top tier hunkering down. Slow paced atmospheric, and relaxing. I hope you have more of these kind of videos in the future
the man is a role model, he is the main attraction in the videos and I feel like a lot of people watches this for him more than how exciting it could get.
No, you are in the silent majority
dito, not concerned on the risk of getting caught, more the quiet camping in unusual places
You should check out hobo stobe on youtube. You'd love his videos.
Joyous watching someone deliver food to the middle of nowhere.
People love you, Steve, aka The Bob Ross of camping. I appreciate you pushing through to the end of the video. I'm reminded of a time 30 years ago, working retail, and receiving the devastating news in the middle of my shift that changed my world forever, and yet... Thank you for all you bring to this world (calmness, art, strange neighbor...excitement).
I’m going to relate something I don’t often talk about, but since watching your videos, I find myself thinking about often. In younger days I had a desire to go on, what Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee called a “Walk-about”. Much to my regret and for various reasons I did not. Now that I’ve gotten old and have multiple health issues, my “Walk-about” days are over. But that doesn’t stop me from traveling down the road and assessing little snippets of cover for their camping potential.
Since I’ve been binge watching your videos, my desire to do a bit of stealth camping has increased. I am vicariously living this life through you. I enjoy your adventures, along with “Crazy Neighbor” who is a hoot. Even though we never see Beautiful Wife, the few trips she has made with you, I can hear her in the background.
“Working on some beer in the woods!!” Just burst out laughing. There’s a pearl like that in every video. That’s why me and my boy look forward to these every week. Can’t wait to see the trip!
I like the line he often says when he starts a campfire with a flamethrower or some other overkill device, "Don't do what Steve does...". Cracks me up every time.
Haha
Not boring to us, Steve! These calm, simple videos hanging out with you are what hooked me on your channel! Forgot it was Thursday and seeing this was a welcome sight!
It was also nice to see him sleep in a little more instead of just getting up early. Perfect video length this time too, the 28 minute stuff starts getting a bit too long of a watch.
"Working on some beer in the woods" needs to be your next T-shirt
Always been a "second shift" sleeper, no excuses made nor necessary for rising later. The trees will be ok after a few hours of weight pressure on lines vs. cutting into bark. But, your extra thoughts are notable. I never worry about you portraying anything you are not. Steve, thank you for my vicarious entertainment, and skål game on your patent phrases!
Steve, you have nearly 1 millions subs - that's brilliant. You really deserve it. I never miss your videos. Thanks for always being so down to earth and for all your wonderful camping videos. Best wishes to you and beautiful wife for a wonderful anniversary.

Any other person in the world ordering food delivery while on stealth camping trip would have us rolling in the aisles. With Steve, what a great idea!
Big difference from when he used to haul his big wood-burning stove and logs.
How can we help but love him
Cheers!
The sound you were hearing around 12:15 seems like it was most likely a deer "blowing" at you. They forcefully exhale to make that noise. They generally do that when they are unsure of what they are sensing. Deer do that in hopes that you will move around so that they can get a better idea of what you are. Does tend to do it more than bucks. They tend to continue blowing as they prance away from you.
You were in no danger. The noise can certainly be a bit startling whenever it's completely quiet and suddenly there's a loud noise.
Steve has this calming aura about him, when I see your videos I feel like everything is going to be alright. Thanks for the awesome videos, Steve. ✌️
Yes, I've come to call it the "Bob Ross" effect... very calming, indeed.

Don't down yourself. I like these kinds of videos. Not too much stress. Cuz there's stealth and then there's STEALTH. This was a good'un.
That scene from almost ground level looking at the wet grass from inside the hammock was so peaceful.
I liked that one with crazy neighbor at the building with the stove... it was like a cooking shelter.
That's a bold driver taking food out to some random road in some construction site in the middle of the night
You can use two branches that you find on the ground and have your straps wrap/contact the branches and not the tree itself. A ranger in Yosemite taught me that, works well!
That's a great idea. Thanks!
I use that technique when tying up garden plants. 😁
I’ve used this trick when I forgot my straps. Anything that will distribute the weight will protect the tree.

I was ordering a pizza when it came close to the end of the video & ended up rewinding because I saw such sadness in your eyes. I realized & saw deeper into what you were saying, seeing the outcome not long after this video was posted. You are such a strong man & your love for Beautiful Wife lives on because it's evident in all the things you do. Showing a little sensitivity gives great depth to your character. Can't wait for the next adventure!
Whenever Steve wakes up in the morning from a tent or hammock it always looks like a really refreshing moment to me. I'm sure he probably feels like crap from too many step 2s, or being kept up all night by weird noises and bedding discomfort, but I just like the morning sunlight vibe.
Hahaha, your comment made laugh 🤣

He only drinks a beer or two at the most (at least on camera), so that would hardly give him a hangover.. Probably a sore back from sleeping in a hammock more than anything! Lol

Over the past 40 years I have primitive camped all over California and parts of Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. At this point I am 67, retired and have got bad knees to the point of needing a walker to walk up and down the hall in my house, so camping is out for now. My wife’s knees are worse than mine. It will be a year before we both get knee replacements and get mobile again. For now, your video gives me a 20+ minute escape from my house arrest sentence each week. Both your peaceful and exciting videos are needed more than you know, so keep them coming dude!!!
I have watched your videos for so long that you feel like family. You are so genuine. I continue to pray for you.
Three things I like about Canada......no snakes, Michael J. Fox, and delivery drivers who have no problem showing up to construction sites after dark. Unbelievable!
Not sure what it is. But I feel it, too. Feels like hurt. Sadness. Confusion. And a variety of “Other”. Overwhelming at times; frustrating at others. You’re not alone, Steve. You’re human, like me, like us. Everywhere is wilderness, literally the-will-of-the-place. I totally lost it! I played it half a dozen times and laughed till I cried. Tickled me!
That sounds is a dear snort, warning others in the herd that there is "danger nearby" . I love that sound.....
This video reminded me of a family camping trip as a kid. My parents and siblings were sleeping in the camper I liked to sleep outside so I was in a hammock it was a nylon net hammock. There was a threat of rain so I had clear plastic as a rain fly. A massive thunderstorm rolled thru in the middle of the night. Not much rain or wind but I awoke to heart stopping booms and an impressive light show dancing across the sky. It lasted a couple of hours. As it was dying off the realization that I was tied to 2 100ft ponderosa pine trees sent a chill down my spine. That was one of the best storms I camped in. Some of my favorite camping trips have been in a hammock.
Being a hunter, that was a doe blowing at you. Great content
