That was a whitetail deer making that sneezing sound. It busted you, it smelled you down wind and that sound was the deer forcing air out of its nose as a warning to other deer that " I smell something bad, don't come over here" they also stomp one hoof when they do that. It's a warning to other deer. It can sound so strange if you've never heard it before. Awesome video Steve
Years ago my Scoutmaster was deer hunting and had a doe make that noise right behind him. He was lying prone above a small ravine with a game trail along the bottom of it. When the doe made that noise it startled him and he knocked his shotgun down into the ravine. He rolled over and was face to face with the doe for a few seconds, then it turned and ran off.
I can't tell you how much I've thought about the passing of a woman I never even laid eyes on over the last couple of days. I could see the emotion and getting choked up at the end of this video which said to me that things at that time were not looking good, and it sounded like you didn't want to go on the road, but I can almost bet money your beautiful wife was telling you to go ahead and go. Your genuineness as a human being has always shined through on the screen and in your interactions with your subscribers online. I don't think think I've ever watched anyone on UA-cam whose emotions just came through the screen to me when you had to make a video you hoped you'd never have to make.
That noise was a deer of some sort blowing at you because it either sees you or smells you. Not usually a threatening noise, just alerts other deer. love the videos!
If it was a buck in they hear or see you a buck makes that sound to let you know that they are there as a warning. At my aunt's I heard 12 that when I was throwing the trash out into the dumpster I couldn't see him but I heard him I ran back into the house
That animal sound was from a doe alerting others of ur prescence. We have 3 doe in our woods that travel together and the 1 in front will snort like this when she is ready to move on from an area. It's quite an alarming sound, especially if you don't know what is making it! Anyway, great video the beast burger looked delicious too lol

Looking forward to the Anniversary Extravaganza next week, Congrats to you and beautiful wife! I enjoyed this week's episode. Don't forget Steve that we all love you and cherish the memory and how you brought beautiful wife to us. You are so caring and down to earth. With love from all of your subscribers
Not boring to us, Steve! These calm, simple videos hanging out with you are what hooked me on your channel! Forgot it was Thursday and seeing this was a welcome sight!
It was also nice to see him sleep in a little more instead of just getting up early. Perfect video length this time too, the 28 minute stuff starts getting a bit too long of a watch.
Great vid. Don't ever think it's "boring". We knew what to expect you're stealth camping not fire juggling on a unicycle while singing the national anthem.
I'm catching up on a few videos that I missed and can't help but think how devastated Steve will be not long after making this video. In hindsight, it does seem he has some type of looming anxiety in his voice. I guess as someone who suffers with anxiety, I always have a sense of looming disaster in my mind even if there really isn't any! Anyway, I hope he continues on healing, and no doubt there will be days with ups and downs for a long, long time. My thoughts are with you and your family, and everyone else that knew your beautiful wife 😢🥲
You can use two branches that you find on the ground and have your straps wrap/contact the branches and not the tree itself. A ranger in Yosemite taught me that, works well!
Whenever Steve wakes up in the morning from a tent or hammock it always looks like a really refreshing moment to me. I'm sure he probably feels like crap from too many step 2s, or being kept up all night by weird noises and bedding discomfort, but I just like the morning sunlight vibe.
He only drinks a beer or two at the most (at least on camera), so that would hardly give him a hangover.. Probably a sore back from sleeping in a hammock more than anything! Lol
The completely unnecessary stealth cracks of the can is comedic genius. He talks louder than the crack before and after the crack for extended periods of time. But we GOT to master the stealth crack! I love Steve.
This video reminded me of a family camping trip as a kid. My parents and siblings were sleeping in the camper I liked to sleep outside so I was in a hammock it was a nylon net hammock. There was a threat of rain so I had clear plastic as a rain fly. A massive thunderstorm rolled thru in the middle of the night. Not much rain or wind but I awoke to heart stopping booms and an impressive light show dancing across the sky. It lasted a couple of hours. As it was dying off the realization that I was tied to 2 100ft ponderosa pine trees sent a chill down my spine. That was one of the best storms I camped in. Some of my favorite camping trips have been in a hammock.
OMG i just love this suburbs stealth videos with the unaware neighborns freaking out when they see a man moving..in the shadows...or early morning coming out of the woods...
The end of this video killed me steve. I know you won’t see this comment, but after being with you through everything and then hearing the end of the video, it made me cry hard, I literally shed many tears again for you my friend. Just a horrible thing, stay strong my good man, know that everyone is here for you you amazing bloke.
Even from my hospital bed here in the ICU I was able to watch this week and as always within minutes the nice calm voice and chill nature of yours had transported me out into the woodlands of old with you. Thanks for putting me and my heart at ease for a bit my friend!
Mike, praying for you to get well soon. I have been there and I am currently fighting many major ailments that come with old age including panic attacks and heart disease. Steve is a blessing, his calmness and humor really brighten up my day. Take care🙏🏽❣️
Any other person in the world ordering food delivery while on stealth camping trip would have us rolling in the aisles. With Steve, what a great idea! Big difference from when he used to haul his big wood-burning stove and logs. How can we help but love him
Not sure what it is. But I feel it, too. Feels like hurt. Sadness. Confusion. And a variety of “Other”. Overwhelming at times; frustrating at others. You’re not alone, Steve. You’re human, like me, like us. Everywhere is wilderness, literally the-will-of-the-place. I don’t know you because we’ve never met, but I do know you in a sense because we’re similar: just trying to figure out our own place in the wilderness. Much love.
Never boring. I had forgotten today is Thursday, then I saw you on my feed. Always good to see these videos, they are the best of their genre. I don't even understand why, but it's definitely something to do with the charisma of the host. Thanks for sharing your experiences, Steve and I hope you have many great adventures to come. Never bored watching this channel.
When I watched this video I couldn’t help but notice you seemed to be getting emotional around 21:17 when you talk about getting home to beautiful wife. I figured you missed her and it tugged on my heart when I first watched and breaks my heart now😞 . Your love for her was always apparent in your videos. RIP beautiful wife. I never met you but I will miss you💙

But don't be ashamed to take some time off if you need! We'll still be here. You have that warm cozy personality, which makes your videos so enjoyable to watch. But if you need a break. Take a break.Take care, Steve! ❤
I definitely got the sense that Steve was having an emotional moment. I hope you're doing alright, Steve! Don't let the pressure get to you. As so many have said, we're happy just to watch you. The spot, the gear, etc., none of that stuff matters. Take some time off if you need it. Camp in your drive way. Whatever you need to be happy.

People love you, Steve, aka The Bob Ross of camping. I appreciate you pushing through to the end of the video. I'm reminded of a time 30 years ago, working retail, and receiving the devastating news in the middle of my shift that changed my world forever, and yet... Thank you for all you bring to this world (calmness, art, strange neighbor...excitement).
7:42 You being lonely makes us all feel like we're part of your secret adventures. Unsure what's in it for you, but I am always stoked for your uploads.
Over the past 40 years I have primitive camped all over California and parts of Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. At this point I am 67, retired and have got bad knees to the point of needing a walker to walk up and down the hall in my house, so camping is out for now. My wife’s knees are worse than mine. It will be a year before we both get knee replacements and get mobile again. For now, your video gives me a 20+ minute escape from my house arrest sentence each week. Both your peaceful and exciting videos are needed more than you know, so keep them coming dude!!!
Steve, I’ve been watching your videos since late 2019. I was laid off in 2020 due to Covid and your videos were one of the few things I had to look forward to each week while trying to get things back together. I’ve gone out camping a bunch of times being inspired by you. Thanks so much for your time and effort in each one of your videos. I’ve enjoyed every single one!
Theres nothing more Relaxing than Camping and a Light Rain in the Woods. Thank you for your Videos. I Really enjoy camping but unfortunately don't have the Time to do it myself. But watching your Videos give the same Vibe :)
Sometimes I put on a black screen video with light rain on a tent to help soothe myself to sleep. There's also rain on tin roof, on a car roof... on a window.
Always been a "second shift" sleeper, no excuses made nor necessary for rising later. The trees will be ok after a few hours of weight pressure on lines vs. cutting into bark. But, your extra thoughts are notable. I never worry about you portraying anything you are not. Steve, thank you for my vicarious entertainment, and skål game on your patent phrases!
You've been on my mind a lot lately, Steve. I know its not much but I'm thinking of you and your experience right now. Hope the best for you man, I love your videos.

Hey Steve, Dutch guy here who is currently visiting Canada. I picked up a Thermacell because I so often saw you use one and just used it in an Ontario skeeter infested field, worked like a charm! Happy anniversary!
@@Hairlessmonkey7612 The only thing is that it is not instant, you need to let it warm up and let it establish the ‘poison cloud’, once you have that going the skeeters will stay away!
Happy anniversary to you and beautiful wife - my own amazing wife and I will be celebrating 33 years married in a weeks time. Thanks for another entertaining video, I too love a good storm, though viewing it from beneath a tree I’d not be that unhappy that the storm passed me by a little.
Not in distress or agressive. Deer will make that sound to illicit a response when they feel something is off. Really quite neat to experience when you know what it is.
Hey Steve! So glad to see you continuing your stealth camping adventures! That creature in the night almost sneezing sounds like a deer to me. They do that "snort" as a danger signal to other deer, but in my past when I'm in a hammock they will stay around and continue to do it almost as a test to see if I'm actually dangerous. The first time I ever heard it in the darkest part of the night it gave me quite a scare! That whoosh is from when the air flutters their closed nostrils. Cheers, keep up the great videos!!
Hi Steve, I always love your videos, don’t care about the content I just enjoy your experience. Whatever’s going on in your life, please know there are thousands who have your back. Take care x
I’m going to relate something I don’t often talk about, but since watching your videos, I find myself thinking about often. In younger days I had a desire to go on, what Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee called a “Walk-about”. Much to my regret and for various reasons I did not. Now that I’ve gotten old and have multiple health issues, my “Walk-about” days are over. But that doesn’t stop me from traveling down the road and assessing little snippets of cover for their camping potential. Since I’ve been binge watching your videos, my desire to do a bit of stealth camping has increased. I am vicariously living this life through you. I enjoy your adventures, along with “Crazy Neighbor” who is a hoot. Even though we never see Beautiful Wife, the few trips she has made with you, I can hear her in the background.

Also, don’t worry about posting a “boring video”, it certainly isn’t boring for me. I always crack open a step two with you, whether it’s tea, coffee, energy drink, or an actual step two. I’m sure a lot of us are on the same boat. We enjoy watching your videos, whatever you plan to do, keep it up 👍
💗👍
Steve, Never EVER feel lonely on these trips! They're thousands of people including myself that are with you every STEP of the way! Looking forward to the Anniversary Extravaganza next week, Congrats to you and beautiful wife! I enjoyed this week's episode. The location you ended up on was a great spot, better than where the "passionate couple" were lol. Most importantly, Take care of life, take all the time you need. I promise you we will be here. #hunkerdown
Well said. I'm ok camping alone, but having to talk to a camera half the time, i could not do.
Wow! Thanks Bryan!
@@campingwithsteve you worry to much about disappointing your fans with a boring camp, but I'm here to tell ya your real fans don't care where you take us camping we are just happy to be "Camping with Steve," happy anniversary to you and beautiful wife!
Totally steve. Keep doing brotha!
Lovely comment. Yeah, congrats to Steve and Beautiful Wife! I love to be alone but never really feel lonely, just watching the insects and the other animals going on with their lifes makes me feel accompanied ;-)
I look forward to seeing this jolly old soul everytime he uploads
Well Put Sir Well Put
Love ur stuff Steve but ur getting slack lol 😂🤣
"I don't know how fairly they treat the drivers, or how fairly they treat the restaurant."
God I love you Steve.
Nothing beats having Door Dash deliver dinner while on a stealth mission.
"Door Dash....Let's Gooooooo!" LOL
Nothing!!
I do doordash here in Wisconsin, i hate delivering to a construction site during the day, these guys are ass hats and never tip, i sure wouldn't go at night... Steve i hope you tipped the driver..7
@@jasonmax5759 i Doordash, i would have bailed
@@Regina0964 I was thinking the same thing. There is no way I would have gone at night.
Is it me or does Steve have one of those soothing type voices that'll help put you to sleep? Not being cruel. I think it's a good thing 😁❤💯
He’s Canadian.
Chill just oozes from the man.
@@opieutt9038 dead 😂
I do purposely use his videos to sleep, And it worked so many times.
@@unknownsource3376 I think the word he meant was comforting. If he was sleepwatching.
if im ever homeless ill be glad i binged so many videos on this channel
Don't down yourself. I like these kinds of videos. Not too much stress. Cuz there's stealth and then there's STEALTH. This was a good'un.
There's a reason you have almost a million subscribers. Stop apologizing for certain videos. You need to realize it's not the video they enjoy the most. They just love watching you my man! Just do and be you!
"Working on some beer in the woods. That's what I'm working on!" Lol love you Steve glad you got a relaxing camp in
What amazes me about watching you is that your wife let's you camp out whenever you want no questions asked..top woman.
Yes.....yes she was and will be greatly missed
Steve has this calming aura about him, when I see your videos I feel like everything is going to be alright. Thanks for the awesome videos, Steve. ✌️
Yes, I've come to call it the "Bob Ross" effect... very calming, indeed.
That's a great idea. Thanks!
I use that technique when tying up garden plants. 😁
I’ve used this trick when I forgot my straps. Anything that will distribute the weight will protect the tree.
Whenever Steve wakes up in the morning from a tent or hammock it always looks like a really refreshing moment to me. I'm sure he probably feels like crap from too many step 2s, or being kept up all night by weird noises and bedding discomfort, but I just like the morning sunlight vibe.
Hahaha, your comment made laugh 🤣
Ditto
He only drinks a beer or two at the most (at least on camera), so that would hardly give him a hangover.. Probably a sore back from sleeping in a hammock more than anything! Lol
The completely unnecessary stealth cracks of the can is comedic genius. He talks louder than the crack before and after the crack for extended periods of time. But we GOT to master the stealth crack! I love Steve.
I know that's what makes for a fun watch.
I have no idea why I watch these, but here I am at work filling a void. Thank you sir!
Being a hunter, that was a doe blowing at you. Great content
The worried look while opening a can of beer will always get me lmao
OMG i just love this suburbs stealth videos with the unaware neighborns freaking out when they see a man moving..in the shadows...or early morning coming out of the woods...
I couldn't agree more!
That’s some dedication!
Get well!
Nice. Primitive Technology also uploaded right at the same time too if you want more to watch. He made a trebuchet this time lmao.
💐
Prayers brother. God's peace and healing!
Mike, praying for you to get well soon. I have been there and I am currently fighting many major ailments that come with old age including panic attacks and heart disease. Steve is a blessing, his calmness and humor really brighten up my day. Take care🙏🏽❣️
I needed this today... we ALL needed this today. Thank you for another magnificent video, Steve!
Absolutely. No pressure Steve, we just need this escapism to deal with the horrors of the modern world !
Any other person in the world ordering food delivery while on stealth camping trip would have us rolling in the aisles. With Steve, what a great idea!
Big difference from when he used to haul his big wood-burning stove and logs.
How can we help but love him
Cheers!
Much love.
Well said. Cheers to you both.
TGIT!! For Steve
Thanks Lawrence for following along. Cheers

I never met you but I will miss you💙
It's Thursday and my day was decently good, but now it's great thanks to another successful stealth camping trip on Camping with Steve.
Cheers
Just so you know, Steve, your videos are entertaining enough for my 3.5 year old to watch all the way through.
"Working on some beer in the woods that's what I'm working on" had me lolling.
My man Steve is creeping up on 1 million subs! Never doubt anything you do, we love it all! I follow a ton of people on youtube, but theres something about a thursday with Steve...It's just great!
21:07 I hope that's just a cold. Otherwise, that tugged on the heart root. I hope you doing ok! :/ I get if you feel pressured to have a video out at a certain time. But don't be ashamed to take some time off if you need! We'll still be here. You have that warm cozy personality, which makes your videos so enjoyable to watch. But if you need a break. Take a break.Take care, Steve! ❤
I look like that before my morning koffie some times. hope its that!
@@TheLastAlpacasaurus Yes. Well said!
@@TheLastAlpacasaurus I get the feeling that Steve is having a tough time coming to terms with the fact that he's "made it". I just hope he realizes that we'll be watching no matter where he's at.
And now in light of this latest news....😭
I love Steve and Crazy Neighbor. This is the best channel on UA-cam. Discovered it about a year ago and have watched all the videos. If you’re new, I highly recommend going back and watching Steve’s Boondocking video, it is amazing… and he has long hair!
There’s literally nothing on this earth more calming than rain on your tarp/tent
If this was boring we wouldn't come back every week to enjoy your content! Personally, I love it. I can't get out like you do so I camp vicariously through you.
Almost at 1 mil subs and still don’t ask people to subscribe to you. Keep up the great videos Steve 👍🏻
Steve gets me through my week. Thank you Steve Wallis.. Please never stop
cheers
For real though 😪
hey thanks for following along on my adventures
Wow, a world first....door dash delivery while stealth camping!!! Steve, You trend setter!!! AMAZING!!!
That sounds is a dear snort, warning others in the herd that there is "danger nearby" . I love that sound.....
A steve upload and a Primitive Technology upload :3 been a good day.
I appreciate you keeping it real and showing your emotion at the end. That's honesty to not cut that out.
12:33 sounds like you're camping with a velociraptor. Careful out there, Steve!
HAHAHA....🤣🤣🤣
Haha. Cheers
You've been on my mind a lot lately, Steve. I know its not much but I'm thinking of you and your experience right now. Hope the best for you man, I love your videos.
Can't beat the sound of rain on a tent, nice stealth camp Steve 👌🍺
I am surprise to see young couple can getting passionate around this environment, I guess they are the true outdoor fanatic ;)
More so because he mentioned mosquitoes...
@@juriaan13 hence I was surprised ~
I like a good thunder storm.
I love thunderstorm. Scared to death of them when i was a kid but now, just an awesome show of force from nature. Love it.
I’m going to read between the lines here and express my sympathy. That ending was pretty profound. You need to decide apparently. I look forward to seeing your videos in my feed, it brightens my day, you’re fun to watch. Whatever your decision, thank you.
Steve isn't afraid of storms, storms are afraid of Steve. Keep it up Steve, your channel is my favorite!!
Hey Steve, Dutch guy here who is currently visiting Canada. I picked up a Thermacell because I so often saw you use one and just used it in an Ontario skeeter infested field, worked like a charm! Happy anniversary!
Thanks for the review i may grab one as well
@@Hairlessmonkey7612 The only thing is that it is not instant, you need to let it warm up and let it establish the ‘poison cloud’, once you have that going the skeeters will stay away!
Australian here, I purchased one yesterday, and so far it seems to work well
Happy anniversary to you and beautiful wife - my own amazing wife and I will be celebrating 33 years married in a weeks time.
Thanks for another entertaining video, I too love a good storm, though viewing it from beneath a tree I’d not be that unhappy that the storm passed me by a little.
I liked that one with crazy neighbor at the building with the stove... it was like a cooking shelter.
If I'm ever out walking my dog and we hear "PSHSHT" coming from the bushes we'll know Steve's in there havin a step 2 🤭
LOL!
Steve’s voice needs to be bottled and sold. I’d buy. So relaxing. Just what you need after a long day at work.
I agree. Smooth and silky. I always play a camping with Steve video when I am feeling anxious. Calms me enough to keep pushing
Not in distress or agressive. Deer will make that sound to illicit a response when they feel something is off. Really quite neat to experience when you know what it is.
They will stomp the ground as well sometimes after snorting hoping whatever they can't identify will move or respond
What a hunker! Sublime to order delivery while stealth camping. Coffee not tea! Happy anniversary beautiful wife and Steve!
