Also, what you said at the end I think is very important. The fact that kids are growing up remembering less of the content they consume has got to be detrimental. Since kids aren't watching shows (as much) how are they going to have conversations about the media they consumed as a child? They can only talk about liking MrBeast and Skibiddi Toilet. 💀

Media literacy is being lost sadly. I just really want UA-cam long form to have a comeback

@@jommunicator yes hopefully the TikTok ban will help that but I don’t think it will unfortunately. Long form has only come back with podcasts

Definitely agree with you. I think one bing factor for this is also that UA-camrs lost their uniqueness. I feel like the vast majority of the UA-camrs are essentially the same, yeah they differ a little in maybe some details, but in the bigger picture it feels like you're fed the same. When I watched youtube back when I was younger, around 2016-2019 I would tell you my favourite youtuber etc. nowadays I would tell you that I like this genre and then the according youtubers.

Dude I was just talking about this with youtube shorts. It feels like the audience will subscribe to you but never come back to your channel. Like either the audience is just not nearly as invested in creators anymore, or youtube just doesn't push videos to them anymore. i think both are true, but I think UA-cam just doesn't push vids to subscribers to a bery large degree nowadays making it even more difficult than it used to be to grow a community who cares. I saw your reddit post and that's how I ended up here and you're right you've gotten alot of people to comment on your vids I'm trynna take a page outta your book man I'd love to build a more engaging community. Great perspective in this vid 🤙

My favorite youtuber is Jacob Geller. He makes video essays analyising video games, art, and video games viewed as art.

Also I agree that youtubers need to earn my subscriptions. If their videos appear in my sub feed, and I don't enjoy them anymore, I unsub.

youtube to hard to make views on plus tiktok is more convenient and more of a connection between viewers and creators

I completely disagree on the connection part. I had 200,000 followers on TikTok and they weren’t really showed my content enough to build a connection. When you’re endlessly scrolling and following thousands of accounts there’s so much less of a connection. I’m willing to bet most people on TikTok follow A LOT more people on TikTok than UA-cam.
