    That's so true. Art channel here. I came to UA-cam hoping to blow up within a month of starting, but then I realised my videos were BAD... really BAD. But I kept pushing and telling myself not to give up, and I guess I'm getting better. The quality of my videos improved, and I am slowly figuring out what my audience like to see, and what I ENJOY creating. It became a hobby making UA-cam videos, and I'd keep doing it for free.

    Omg that is amazing!! This feels like my journey I’m at red dot videos. Progression to success rarely is linear. I also feel like the journey is the fun part and it’s changing me and therefore changing the quality
    of my videos. Thanks for this!!

    The issue I always have is:
    The green dot videos are things that I love to do.
    The other color dots that come along are things that I don't really want to do.
    I can sometimes identify a different color dot, as in, something that would get more views, but it just isn't something I care much about.
    I guess the difference is:
    investing into a passion and communicating it through a youtube video, versus investing into being a youtuber.
    Something like that.

      This is such a great point. I think bottom line is the purpose of it all? Are you making videos for you, or your audience. I’m not saying your green dot videos won’t eventually work, I think it just takes way way way longer for it all to flesh out. The algorithm works best if it has large numbers to work with. Maybe your green dot videos are actually epic, but it’s gonna take years for the audience to find them. I’m just starting out so I’m not an authority on the subject… so Either way, good luck to ya!

      There's some niches that really will never get traction. that's what this dude is wrong about. Some niches just never get traction, and UA-cam isn't about YOU. It's about the watchers and what entertains them. You have to find a common ground in what you like and what they likd

    • @thenachothief
      @thenachothief Рік тому +4

      What I would do (if you haven't already) is try to find what makes those videos turn into different colored dots, and try to implement them (if possible) into what you love doing most. I'm not entirely sure if this is possible under your circumstances but I hope this at least helps

  • @TheThinkersBible

    This is the best explanation of growing a channel that I've ever seen after watching lots of how-to videos for almost a year. In my case it has to be a balance between addressing topics people want to hear about and important things that need to be said and communicated. We'll see where it goes and I'll work to identify those blue-dot and other-dot videos while staying true to my green-dot vision. God bless, and thanks a lot!

      How about musicians??

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible Рік тому +1

      @@grim6392 I'd recommend focusing on search at first. Starting with specific techniques you're good at that you can teach others to do. One technique per short video. Then perform that technique in a context of a popular song that you can play well.
      Research what songs and techniques people are search for, and incorporate a popular song and technique. Especially if you can find both a song and technique that aren't covered by a lot of much larger channels.
      Check out Rob Brown's channel. He's a drummer but he's great at teaching one technique per video.

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible Рік тому +2

      @@grim6392 also -- I'd recommend doing a lot of research on how to get GREAT-sounding recordings for your instrument within your budget. AND some research on how to mix sound on video so your voice and instrument balance. Sound quality will make you or break you. For musicians it's doubly true.

    • @grim6392
      @grim6392 Рік тому

      @@TheThinkersBible I'm a producer so I can kind of do the technical stuff Abt music. My problem is getting people to listen to what I release.

    • @TheThinkersBible
      @TheThinkersBible Рік тому +2

      @@grim6392 ah ok. Then I'd recommend starting with searchable topics -- techniques people really want to learn about. Do a short lesson, then demo the technique in a production that you want people to listen to. That way you can move into pure music over time if enough people like your teaching and vibe with your music. If you're not already famous then you have to give people a reason to listen to your music. And if you're teaching them something they value in production or in performance on an instrument, that's a good segue into the listening area.
      Also I'd do trend-surfing like Grow Your Gaming Channel is recommending. Do what you need to do, then move into what you want to do.
      That's essentially how I started my channel. My first video was a video on the origins or Easter. Because a lot of people, especially Christians, are interested in that topic. I released it 3 months after Easter(!) but it still got views and is at 200+ views now.

    This, my friend, has been the most amazing video on this topic that I have watched. I have trying to get more views and subscribers and grow my UA-cam channel, so I have started prowling UA-cam for ideas and knowledge. I am enjoying the learning part, as this is something that I enjoy doing. Plus, I just love learning new things! I am glad you have experienced success and are willing to make videos to help others. This is exactly what I am trying to do with my channel. Thanks for your video!

    One thing I'm finding is you have to like editing. If you don't like to edit... things become a LOT harder. You really have to focus on dots which do not require a lot of editing. Limiting. Not impossible. But... maybe improbable at that point. Also I've read if you don't like editing try livestreaming instead.

      idk why I keep falling with new uploads, editing eps takes more than 2 days at mild, and 6 to 8 days at worst, reserved for 17+ mins episodes with filters, tricky music compatibility & effects both audio and visual, im not claiming being a professional editor just want to get people aware that unseen vids deserves a chance & a thumbsup after all is made for fun, passion, most importantly independent from grand forces that only care for bucks, & reputation and trash the purpose of creativity

    I am a financial channel and the structure and tone of my first 3 videos was resulting in my average view time to be less than a minute. When I changed the structure and starting adding humor my average watch time increase by 300%.
    I'm starting to realize that people click off the video when you ask them to like your video, even when the placement is in the middle of the video so I'm going to try putting it towards the end to see how that works out. I also need to figure out how to increase my CTR as well. It's my first week uploading so I'm not expecting alot out the gate.
