The thing is, he wasn't the crowned, immortal best player of all time. He just... WAS the best player of all time. He never tried to make a point of it or shove it into everyone's face.
he was just such a funny, casual, good guy. one of the things he does is talk in a way as if he and the viewer are friends, and i think that's what made me watch so many of his videos.
He did not deserve the cancer. From the limited amount of content I watched from him, he created great content and differentiated himself from other popular youtubers. He genuinely made his own content and did not just copy and paste it from other creators. *Techno never dies*
And even when he was alive with cancer, he wasn't super worried about it and was even making jokes about having cancer and almost becoming an amputee. He was and will always be the best.
The amount of people trashing this video is insane… especially in the creators replies. This video is NOT lazy lol, it points out everything Modern MC’s : Blob Techno: A detailed skin that bro had for 10 years!! Modern: Loud sounds lots of music(attention spans) Techno: chill straight forward not a lot of music(still catches attention!!) Modern: Clickbaity, or oversaturated, or oddly animated thumbnails. Techno: went through the process of drawing his thumbnails for a lot of his videos. And it’s insane that people call this glazing or “bad” Glazing is to defend somebody for literally anything they do lol. ^^^which is not this And even if he was, that’s honestly great, to glaze techno, I would too, he deserves to be honored as one of the best Minecraft PvPers. And the fact people think this video is bad?? Like dude went into Minecraft to show skins, to make scenes, and then found clips that perfectly match what he’s talking about.. And a good amount of his content was original!! He even would sometimes add his fans fan-art in streams or some random videos lol. (And a plus, he never liked kids like every other Minecraft UA-camr!!) Much love brother keep it up 🫶🫶
I don’t think they’re trashing the video due to the message, I think they’re thrashing it because the video is like a think piece made by someone in middle school. It’s super disorganized, preachy, unnecessarily critical, not well fleshed out, and it gives the vibe that this guy didn’t spend the time to make a nuanced commentary of the situation.
@@GalacticStudios69 why would a skin show that he understand something they don't lmao. It's just an avater. (another commenter also pointed it out that he just found a pig skin 10 years old ago so he keeps it, which idk if it true or not.) Not everyone put loud music in their video. Some of them are just as chill as Technoblade. I never watches Technoblade but clearly, this guy just hyped him up as much as possible, it's become a cringe for people who don't know him.
this sorta thing is kinda part of the mr. beastification of youtube in a sense. it's less about the individual, or even the comedy, it's about being able to catch peoples attention and keep it, literally nothing more. i'm glad many youtubers can still keep that authenticity, like techno did. good video. technoblade never dies
Beastification is a phenomenon that even Mr Beast himself noticed and in his recent videos hes been actively avoiding being over the top and trying to focus more heavily on storytelling and emotional beats. I hope that the new format actually works too so other people will start realizing that they dont have to be yelling for every second of their video
Techno was generally just an entertaining UA-camr that didn’t get his spotlight earlier because the hypixel community wasn’t as big when he started. I watched him since he was a skywars/blitz UA-camr and even then he was the only one who did his style of content. In a community where most channels were (and still are) mainly gameplay focused, techno was personality focused while also being crazy at the game
for the rare amount of people who are accusing me of glazing technoblade, that's just mean for you to say, because im not. as a minecraft player who makes youtube videos, i really wanted to make a video honoring the late legend and i figured this was one of the best ways to do it, so i did it. also this video isnt monetized. edit: even though i literally explain that im not glazing ppl still say the opposite 😭
Using fanarts as thumbnails was a way he engaged with his community, specifically with his fanartists. It was a way for the fanartists to know they were appreciated for their work, as Technoblade would show his appreciation for their work by using the fanarts as thumbnails.
Other than all that he also had great story telling. For eg. the potato war by itself wouldn't have been so fun to watch but way techno presented it made it interesting
I love drawing my thumbnails too, imo it just completes the video because I feel like I put my heart into not just the video, but the cover people will first see
man to this day his passing still hurts, i remember i used to not like him because of the 'clickbait' titles back in 2016 (sounds dumb because it is), but then i decided to actually give him a chance. fast forward 6 years and i found myself bawling my eyes out while watching the "so long nerds" video. i even started using his skin in minecraft from 2020 onwards and still do. since i was in prime puberty when i watched him i even copied some of his mannerisms, some of which i still retain. how wish i could've met him someday

@@aperson9223 just like u i still havent found any youtuber to hit even close to him im not looking for a replacement tho he will never be replaced im just looking to be happy and feel a bond similar to how i felt watching techno
didn't even know anything about technoblade at all, but when i saw the video it really hit me. i think it would hit just about anyone, even if they didn't know what minecraft was.
It's pretty damn simple, he does what he wants to do. He's not coming up with over the top crazy challenge ideas it's just casual minecraft gaming. And he's also very humble aswell, he's not screaming all the time, making a loud asf reaction every time, he's just talking normally to his videos. And i think that's why it appeals so much to the audience, that they just wanna see just pure minecraft gaming and he also had the skills to back it up so there's always a reason to watch his videos
Here’s something else you don’t know: details about Technoblade being an English Major was actually help contributed to his joke and personality along with his style of storytelling with many language art styles that make his video Unique. Other UA-camr only based what in front of them like Drama but Technoblade avoided them to avoid further problems and keep his contents, etc… fresh from negative views like “this guy once got this and that problem” which other UA-camrs had which those drama will leave a bad psychological impact/impression either if they’re on the right or wrong side. So that every of Technoblade’s video can be preserving as humorous and funny.
And yes am a Technoblade Fan. This is some of the major detail that I think made him successful. Because he knows how to use languages and effective/creatice humors. While avoiding internal conflicts without exploding or mean judgement throughout the internet. He uses dark humor to an acceptable extent but never too dark yet he makes it effective. Also what is genius was that he uses character developments on himself like introducing ancient knowledge like Sun Tzu the art of war or Greek mythology to creates context which also contributed to TommyInnit’s rise in sub in the dream SMP. And his friendly rivalry with skeppy. There could be more to his detail but I’ll see to it later.
1:04 I know this video is about technoblade but I’d like to appreciate Fruitberries for his skin. It was unique at the time until a lot of modern UA-camrs started using blob skins.
He wasn’t just a minecraft youtuber but a player and an active part of the community. He always gave the impression that he genuinely enjoyed the game, and that would still play even if he wasn't making money from it.
Modern UA-cam is over satured, over edited and over exaggerating everything. Techno was a breatne of fresh air. Calm, relatable, natuarally sarcastic and nihilistic. He was genuine. He edited the dramatic parts to feel dramatic, he left the unflilterd humor and chaos unfiltered. He showed us exactly what it was with nothing extra and nothing altered
Idk why but I’ve been going through my techno faze recently, but it still saddens me to think about that there won’t be any new content, just rewatching old streams that I watched live and laughing at jokes I’ve laughed at so many times before, he was truly special, One of the greats!
Though I only watched a small portion of his videos, I could tell the passion he put into them was genuine. He was truly the best minecraft player Technoblade never dies
I think another important thing to mention here is that he was able to entertain continiously for hours. He could just turn on the cam and hold a conversation with himself. I have watched every single one of his videos. I mean every single one.
Recently I've been rewatching his SMP Earth livestreams, and I can 100% agree on this, since the first stream, almost 8h long, kept me entertained all the time... Even with just transporting a chicken for almost 1h
There's a good amount of techno content hidden in skeppys old videos. I'm sure you've found them already, but they were a comfort to me recently. A little bit in a bunch of the dream smpers old videos too like Tommy, Quackity and Philza.
Another great example of this format is Ethoslab. And like Techno, Etho has a loyal fanbase, hasn’t changed his style in over 10 years and is now considered one of if not the most legendary old school minecrafters
It's sorta like Jerma when he played TF2: He's not trying desperately to keep retention up, but he's just there, like a friend, and it's a slow formula to success. It is to make people love who you are, and not what you do.
Being only a teenager who wasn't there for the original rise of minecraft, Technoblade to me was how you hear people describe the early MCtubers such as skydoesminecraft or PopluarMMOS were to them. Only, even beyond nostalgia, i think Technoblades content still holds up. You hear about people going to watch those old youtubers they loved and not enjoying it as much as they used to, but that never applied to technoblade; i rewatch his videos occasionally to this day. Rip to the goat. Or the pig, i should say. There was no one quite like him, and hasnt been since. (Jschlatt in his prime was a close second though.) Ironically his death marked the end of minecraft's modern resurgence. Dream is not as bad as they make him out to be imo, but i definitely hope Techno is remembered over anyone else for his era.
Not the first time Minecraft had a weird skin fad. Early to mid 2010s were usually some variation of "regular dude with a creeper on the back of a hoodie". Not that these skins are better, but I guess it's a canon event for MC to have weird skins trend?
Even though its been 2 years he's really had a huge influence to the point he's still being talked about, still can't believe he went at such a young age.
A UA-camr plugging someone else's video? Impossible. I also have to say, I 100% agree! I love the authentic, uncolored minecraft content, and not just a content farm branded as entertainment. For a good example of another channel like this, albeit not Techno, is Rekrap.
techno's content has always had this timeless vibe to me. i found him in 2017/2018 when Minecraft content was technically "dying" out, and continued to watch him through that time into the resurgence Minecraft had through COVID. Through that all, i feel like he never really failed to stop being true to himself and his community. He always brought the same funny yet nonchalant energy for every video and didn't really change much about his editing to keep up with new trends, and in fact, started some new ones. Honestly in my mind he's the bridge between those two minecraft youtube eras. also, something I think was also really cool about him was how he really did care about the communities and servers he played on beyond just making videos, and it really shows.
Techno was an amazing person. He was my favorite youtuber ever I remember getting the “so long nerds” UA-cam notification and just thing “yooooo finally another technoblade video” and clicking on it immediately. Then when technodad said “if your watching this I’m dead” my brain did hesitate I started bawling at 10 pm my brother heard me from across the hall and had to come comfort me
please he is better than all minecraft youtubers tho hopefully we will find someoane better and know that there will still be a good youtuber every once in a while not to replace him ofc techno will never be replaced
exactly why there would never be another technoblade, we didnt just watch him because of his amazing editing or anything, it was a personality based community, and it was perfect.
It was most importantly his personality I think. He was genuine, he didn't exaggerated his feelings or his reactions. They were genuine. He didn't try to optimise his videos to be perfectly suited for the algorithm. He made what he wanted to and he got popular because he was genuinely good. That's why he is remembered positively while other aren't.
thats true its even proven that posting what u want not what the algorith wants is an actual way of geting viewers and long lasting subscribers its something that unfortunatly now we see a lot less tho i found a few chanels that do that so thats a good thing
mentioning the thumbnails is actually so real, and I remember really liking the 2d art he used. I absolutely adore seeing artists get that sort of recognition and help contribute to channels they love. and seeing, honestly, just any artist be able to do thumbnails for him was so inspiring for me (considering I was around 15-17 during this era) to create art.
1:18 I think the subtitles are actually a bug step up. I appreciate them a lot because I may not have hearing issues but I'm a little stupid and they help a lot
whenever someone talks about technoblade i feel like crying I had been watching him since day one on almost all of the devices I had back then. A huge chunk of my teenage hood was technoblade. Its a shame he died.
Techno was really the guy that was holding the MCYT community together, and you can see that like right after he died everyone started falling into some sort of controversy, real or fake, and some long friendships broke apart. Tommy's the only one who hasn't fallen into that stuff largely because of how he's tried so hard to honor Techno, keep his memory alive and also mix his loud and screaming type with Techno's calm humorous style in his last few videos.
The thing that techno had in droves is something which 99% of other minecraft youtubers lack and that is personality. He honestly had more personality than most of them combined.
the "simple" dream-esque skins in the thumbnail literally look like that one buzz lightyear meme its ridiculous how so many of them think its one of the keys to success it *irrationally* pisses me off
Nice video 👍. Ok the rest of this comment is gonna be somethings your video made me realise. 0:42 you saying this reminds me of how iconic OG Minecraft UA-camr skins were; they all had detail, were identifiable, and made use of layers. Dan’s goggles, Think’s beard, using the layers to make hair not look completely flat. Of course those skins are still present, Techno has his crown, Tommy and Tubbo have the hair layer, Ranboos has his crown. 1:49 this also reminds me of Traditional Minecraft youtubers.
Still find myself going to watch his stuff, the guy just made you want to watch he was like a friend just having a good time not trying to rush you along but you still found yourself following his journey
I agree with you, but camman did explain in one short he made his blob skin like years before they came actually popular, so he was original at that time... just saying lol. Techno will always be the goat tho!!
i miss the casual/calm youtubers, it's too bad that the last (well known) casual/calm youtuber died 2 years ago and everyone else became those chaotic/tryhard youtubers.
THis video is a good start to all the reasons we loved techno for sure, but dang there's soooo much more. Even to your last point about Techno's calm delivery- it was so funny because he was calm, yes, but also because we knew those words were so true and he didn't have to shout it for it to happen. Kind of like Escanor the sin of pride in the seven deadly sins but for mc.
When I first watched Techno’s content, I noticed that it just felt, well familiar. As someone who’s watched Minecraft videos since the beta’s he really felt right at home with the classic Minecraft UA-camrs, it made me feel very nostalgic, and happy knowing that there’s still classic content throughout the tremendous amount of modern content, and when he passed away, it was the only time I actually cried about a UA-camr passing, hopefully his way of making content is passed on to other UA-camrs for years to come. May Technoblade and his legacy never die
Techno dying left me insanely sad, I had watched him a little when he was new I wanna say within his first year and half or so of UA-cam but then I stopped, but around the time of Minecraft monday ending as well as when he showed up in some Skeppy videos, I started watching him again and I watched him an insane amount from there and I was so hyped to watch him more from there. And as much as I found the concept a little weird his acting in the dream smp made me love him even more. Then I saw the notification from his dads video. At the time I was on summer break from college so I hadn’t kept up with him quite as much but still watched when I could. I had/have one video left from him that I haven’t seen, it’s his last video from the Dream Smp, I know it sounds like exaggeration but I cannot bring myself to watch the video. I think because as much as I wanna be in denial and say he will upload again some day I know it won’t happen and that leaves me with the realization that it’s the last video from him that I could ever see. And once I watch it in a way he’ll be gone for good. Sorry for long post
Like others said here, part of Techno's charm was also his ability at the game. Of course there are countless try hard youtubers who are unbelievable at pvp, parkour, etc. But Techno was just different He was casual about his skill. He didn't need to put in much effort to be so much better than everyone. And whenever he tried a little bit harder than usual, it was actual domination. Him mastering 1.9 pvp in a week for the Dream duel, getting 2nd out of 63k players in a skywars tournament while waiting for his flight, and setting a coin record in MCC that still hasn't even been threatened in 40+ events. Genuinely, that is some generational talent, the Lionel Messi of Minecraft But instead of tryharding every event he participated in and easily dominating, he focused on making content for his viewers and making sure his teammates had a good time. That's just something special that barely anyone can replicate. He's probably the closest the video game world will ever get to the perfect player

His videos were more like having a conversation honestly Like his videos definetly more had the vibe of "videocalling a friend and playing together" and not a lot of other youtubers can pull that off.
I think the Hermitcraft players have lots of personality. Maybe I don’t understand your version of “modern UA-camrs?” Is that a way of saying “teenaged UA-camrs?” Because people who liked Techno for the reasons listed in this video can literally find other Minecraft UA-camrs who regularly put out videos with similar qualities right now in 2024.
I love Technoblade but the way this video portrays is basically "Technoblade did this right because he was different." I thought this video was about Technoblade understanding what people need to realize but instead its just the way how people would utilize how content creation is. First of all, his skin is anyone's preference to be honest. Some people want it to be an empty canvas to show everyone can be like that person to put their mind into that character (what Dream wanted to show, however failed with his actions); some people want it to show who they are; some people just took it from the website and liked it; or even a youtuber that people admired (Jschlatt's skin is TomSka). And then second of all, editing is rlly subjective in its own way. His main style is storytelling, it is commentary that is being done well with his video cuts. It is what he has done since the early days and to the end. And you were comparing it to people who just basically shows content and makes it pop out. COMPLETELY different from the point of "woah he understood what modern youtubers didn't." Technoblade didn't do it "right", its just his preference of doing things and people liked it. I feel like at this point, this is just glorifying Technoblade too much. Things can be done differenlt yknow and people still like those modern things as well right? And lastly his thumbnails. Based on what you said "Technoblade did this right" should not even be a point made here. The word "right" should not even be the correct choice of word. The 2D art came from his fans or either his MS Paint drawing. He did various thumbnails like simple screenshots or those 2018 minecraft thumbnails people used to do. Like I said again, it's his own style or preference. As long as people make it clickable or their content is watchable, it is good. What made Technoblade great is basically himself. Not the skin, not the editing, and not even the thumbnail. It was just his personality and storytelling (he was also inspired by videogamedunkey by the references he made among his videos). Honestly it didn't even point out what he truly understood among the modern youtubers TL;DR This video is just glorifying him and completely subjective. Mostly going on about "I like Technoblade's content better than most so that must be the right way" type of thinking
Completely agree. Technoblade never "understood" anything that modern youtubers didnt. He just had his own style of making videos and just never changed. People didnt watch him because of how he made videos they just watched him because he was just genuinly entertaining and relatable.
He problably wasn't thinking about how the word "right" was the wrong one to use, he just wanted to say that in his opinion technoblade was awesome, saying everything he liked about his content, and that youtubers today are generic only making retention slop content, which is completely valid and not wrong, idk why you're yapping, i don't think this video was ever meant to be objective
2:51 yoo, sick detail I also noticed, I like this detail of techno's videos so much that when I wanted to start a Brawl stars channel, a mobile game I wanted to draw the thumbnails myself cuz I'm poor but also because it adds soo much personality!

The amount of people trashing this video is insane… especially in the creators replies.
This video is NOT lazy lol, it points out everything
Modern MC’s : Blob
Techno: A detailed skin that bro had for 10 years!!
Modern: Loud sounds lots of music(attention spans)
Techno: chill straight forward not a lot of music(still catches attention!!)
Modern: Clickbaity, or oversaturated, or oddly animated thumbnails.
Techno: went through the process of drawing his thumbnails for a lot of his videos.
And it’s insane that people call this glazing or “bad”
Glazing is to defend somebody for literally anything they do lol.
^^^which is not this
And even if he was, that’s honestly great, to glaze techno, I would too, he deserves to be honored as one of the best Minecraft PvPers.
And the fact people think this video is bad?? Like dude went into Minecraft to show skins, to make scenes, and then found clips that perfectly match what he’s talking about..
And a good amount of his content was original!! He even would sometimes add his fans fan-art in streams or some random videos lol. (And a plus, he never liked kids like every other Minecraft UA-camr!!)

this sorta thing is kinda part of the mr. beastification of youtube in a sense. it's less about the individual, or even the comedy, it's about being able to catch peoples attention and keep it, literally nothing more. i'm glad many youtubers can still keep that authenticity, like techno did. good video.

i agree because technoblade never dies
Beastification is a phenomenon that even Mr Beast himself noticed and in his recent videos hes been actively avoiding being over the top and trying to focus more heavily on storytelling and emotional beats. I hope that the new format actually works too so other people will start realizing that they dont have to be yelling for every second of their video
Yeah I realise a lot of the videos I watch (especially shorts) aren’t actually entertaining… they’re just attention keeping
Techno was generally just an entertaining UA-camr that didn’t get his spotlight earlier because the hypixel community wasn’t as big when he started.
I watched him since he was a skywars/blitz UA-camr and even then he was the only one who did his style of content. In a community where most channels were (and still are) mainly gameplay focused, techno was personality focused while also being crazy at the game
techno was just always amazing

(Jschlatt in his prime was a close second though.)
Ironically his death marked the end of minecraft's modern resurgence. Dream is not as bad as they make him out to be imo, but i definitely hope Techno is remembered over anyone else for his era.

techno's content has always had this timeless vibe to me. i found him in 2017/2018 when Minecraft content was technically "dying" out, and continued to watch him through that time into the resurgence Minecraft had through COVID.

But Techno was just different
He was casual about his skill. Genuinely, that is some generational talent, the Lionel Messi of Minecraft
But instead of tryharding every event he participated in and easily dominating, he focused on making content for his viewers and making sure his teammates had a good time. That's just something special that barely anyone can replicate. He's probably the closest the video game world will ever get to the perfect player

Its because he has personality. This is something most modern youtubers lack.
YES!
Honestly it didn't even point out what he truly understood among the modern youtubers
TL;DR This video is just glorifying him and completely subjective. Mostly going on about "I like Technoblade's content better than most so that must be the right way" type of thinking
Completely agree. Technoblade never "understood" anything that modern youtubers didnt. He just had his own style of making videos and just never changed. People didnt watch him because of how he made videos they just watched him because he was just genuinly entertaining and relatable.
title shouldve been “What made techno unique” so that it doesnt make other modern ytbers look like normies
YES BRO ❤️
Even this video embodies the point perfectly.
I thought it was gonna be an hour long video, but no, just four small minutes.
Imma save this.
