Bunjie (The O.B.) is a 2010 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow. After more than a decade of killing deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired. Enter Bunjie III (or Bunjie '21, Bunjie 3.0, The Slick Black Cadillac of Crossbows) a 2021 Scorpyd Deathstalker 420, the result of trying various models and looking at dozens of them online for characteristics I liked. It is, in fact, a gift from a Friend of Bunjie, which goes to show how important Friends of Bunjie are to this channel and what an impact they can have. Bunjie III is a testament to modern crossbows, producing over .7 slugs of momentum and almost 140 ft-lbs of kinetic energy with stock arrows--at nearly 400 fps!
Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. I have the mag340 and I had a limb that broke and I emailed Excalibur directly and they sent me two brand new limbs and a new bow string for free and paid for shipping. Just sharing my experience and I’d have to say I was very satisfied.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s like I said previously Rich “We have enough to worry about while being out in the woods and up in our stands or blinds etc, besides for our equipment.” There’s so many things that have to happen successfully in order to bring that meat home.
I own a Tenpoint RS440 Havoc and I love my crossbow. I absolutely love it! But you would think that these companies such as Tenpoint, Burris, Ravin, etc would be doing the due diligence in testing and engineering that we as consumers absolutely deserve. Especially with the price tag that comes along with 99% of this new technology. I hate the fact that I have to be constantly aware to ease my safety off when on a hunt because if I don’t, and I just click it off, the deer could absolutely hear it and they have before. The safety switches “ON ALL” the Tenpoint crossbows are like this. Yes, you can ease it off slowly to where the sound is pretty much inaudible, but it’s just one more thing I have to worry about while I’m on a hunt. I don’t need more worries, I need less. For the money that I paid for this crossbow “NOTHING” should not have been overlooked, and the safety switch should be able to be switched off and on, and do it effortlessly and quietly. Everything should’ve already been meticulously gone through and checked out and field tested again and again until was perfect. They push these products out to us hunters, and then it really seems like it’s us who have to do the field testing, and it’s us who get our hunts ruined and find the issues out when they should’ve already been worked out by these companies!🤷♂️
the original Bunji, although old and slow, is still the perfect crossbow. Just my opinion. I enjoy your videos thoroughly, thank you...
The simplicity of their design is Excalibur's claim to fame, however in my opinion they have moved beyond that simplicity by chasing speed.

Agree, the ability to change your own string without a press and make most adjustments yourself if a huge draw. But in an effort to keep up with the advertised speeds and an effort to get smaller they are loosing their biggest upside which is durability.
The sad part is they're losing the speed race too, slowest company out there even with lighter arrows. I just am at a loss anymore...I hate to sound like the old grumpy guy but man...thanks for letting me vent lol

It’s true they are losing the speed race for sure.
They should have never left the dependable game and they would be fine. Folks buy Excalibur for the self sufficiency and the no issues. Can’t really say that anymore unless you stay with one of the slow models like the mag air at 305fps.
@@Deathbybunjie true but remember the fastest compounds right now are around 370 fps. All this extra speed honestly is probably overkill. 50 yards and in it’s not making a huge difference, even the slower excals are getting pass throughs

Well said. If I paid a lot of my hard earned money for something, I expect it to work and the company to honor their warranty.
I hope we are all with you on this. As hunters in the woods it's our responsibility to make sure our equipment is functioning properly, and we have taken the time to learn to use it properly. I'll never forget the first deer I had a bad shot on and never recovered. I can replay the arrow flight and the feeling afterwards in my head to this day and it drives me to be a better hunter.

Right there with you! First and only time I’ve taken a head on shot! :(. I saw her crippled later in the season and put her down but she suffered needlessly because of my bad decision! Never again!

My original Ravin R9 still amazes me.
In my opinion, when it comes to Excalibur crossbows, The new bows, in an effort to keep pace with the market as far as speed is concerned have too high of a draw weight putting too much stress on the limbs. I've said it before and I still believe it, 350 ft per second is a good compromise between speed and reliability. That is why I keep my Excalibur Matrix 355, That being said if I were to buy a new crossbow it would be a Mission Sub 1.

For me the biggest pro or con is the manufacturers honesty when questioned and the speed of their response. It was the reason I chose a killer instinct as my first crossbow. So far I'm very pleased but I'm a nubie so we will see after a season of hunting 😂
Hey Rich, hadn't been on you tube lately. Looking forward to your upcoming videos and another Crossbow season. You and your daughter have done well. I'm with you in equipment performance. We owe it to our game . Spend honest money on a product you expect it to hold up to their specs. Sometimes old school gear is just better.

I had this experience with Covert Trail cameras. Used them exclusively for several years, then got a model that just would not record audio for video. Sent an email to the company. They responded one time about downloading a software fix that did NOT work and they never responded again. I started buying Brownings, was extremely impressed with the quality of their crisp video (especially night video) 60 frames per second video option, and giant 2 inch picture viewer screen, and never looked back at Covert again.
Rich, right there with you. There's enough that can go wrong or throw you a curve when hunting. Unstable or unreliable equipment is unacceptable. I try to keep it simple, hunt within my personal limits, and when in doubt, let it pass.... and still once in a while life happens! (Usually of my own doing 😂)
Was considering the Burris scope but after hearing your experience and reading the comments I will save my pennies for the Garmin.
Thx Rich same for me i bought a Tenpoint pro fusion in 2008 and im still hunting with the same crossbow no problems at all never had to change a single peace of equipment on that crossbow. ( and we tryed a crossbow for my girlfriend in 2017 and no matter what i tryed with that crossbow i could not shoot 2 arrows on the same dots on the target so we put it in the garbage and bought a new crossbow and now i can see that she is confident in her new crossbow just like i am with my old tenpoint 2008 hehe. Yea sometimes a 500$ crossbow is better then a 800$+ crossbow. Thx Rich awsome video🦌
Really well done counselor! I thought the Lincoln Lawyer was good but he has nothing on Rich Wilson! The jury may still be out but you definitely presented all the evidence! I just want to keep my equipment simple and functional, and just can’t get into these high tech expensive scopes! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s message!
Best and most honest video ive ever seen
My first foray into crossbow hunting was with my first Centerpoint Dagger 390. I got my first deer ever on November 5th and then on November 10th the cable broke. Took a month to get it fixed. COVID had a lot to do with the length of time to get it fixed. While working through the repair process, I bought a Centerpoint Amped 425. Last year I harvested 3 deer with the Amped 425. My wife now owns a Centerpoint Patriot 425 with a crank. I am not one to write off a brand because of a bad experience. The Dagger taught me a lot and I have learned a lot through your videos. Some are forced financially into brand loyalty, some blindly follow brand loyalty and yet some know that no two items are exactly alike even though they are produced from the same instructions.
Their CP400s are probably one of the best bangs for buck in industry. Basically a raven for less. They had some really good deals on them last year, and may still be having deals on them.
@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill that’s good to know. CP 400’s have caught my interest as well. Nice to hear from someone who actually has one and uses it. On my Centerpoint crossbows I use standard Centerpoint arrows or bolts. The first year (2021) I used 100 grain mechanicals from Swhacker. Last year I moved up to the 125 grain Swhacker. No problem getting pass throughs and no problem finding them either. Does went about 125 yards max, the first buck 35 yards and last year’s buck 40 yards.

The question is not what might happen but what does when it does happen. I have found no matter the brand something can go wrong and the true measure is how the company takes care of the issue when it does. Excalibur is top shelf when it comes to warranty. Unlike lesser brands this is how you stay loyal or not.
I have always loved your channel. I have a 10 point turbo 360. I feel no need to upgrade because it works perfectly and I don’t question its performance.

I still remember the time the OB was shooting the arrows and they were just falling off it and you had to cut deers throat to put it down.

Great video, Rich. I have two of those Oracle X, I just bought one refurbished....and it already went to Burris for the repair. Level in the scope didn't work. The horizontal line was all the way to the right all the time, no matter how I cant the bow. But they will take care of that.
Now, I had a similar situation just like you described, but reason was my xbow. One of the cables stretched more than the other. After some tape measure action I brought it back to specs and it was shooting great again. I was blaming the scope too, but that piece of equipment didn't let me down. It was the bow.

Absolutely agree with your video Rich.
There is a great percentage of hunters who lack the finesse any experience of standardizing their arrows field tips broad heads no two arrows shoot the same at long distances. The hunter must be aware of all the variables that could possibly make an arrow fly different from the next one.And not always blaming it on the scope but possibly the scope mounts are loose etc. great video thank you
I checked all the mounts on this scope. I took it off and check the two screws on the bottom to make sure the scope itself wasn't coming off the mount. Unfortunately it wasn't that simple.

I bought a Burris, sighted in, thought it was the cats meow, until I was in tree & battery was dead when I went to take a shot. Was cold, took me 10 minutes to swap batteries.Just as you said, I cannot wonder if my equipment will work. Sold it & don't miss it.
I own a Burris scope. During turkey season 2022 spring hunt. Every time I used the range finder it would work just fine to start morning. Then try again n get these dashes. I ended up resetting it n resighting it in; switched to carbon arrows and now truer then ever n workers great. Killed 3 deer that fall n a turkey at 57 yards this past spring! But bc of it freezing up before. That fear of it doing it again when matters haunts me and wonder if I should have pd extra and got the Garmin. I think your 2 rants are spot on!
I moved my burirs between my two bows ten point nitro and stealth it works flawlessly on the stealth on the nitro over 30 yards and I'm having the same experience as you. I leaning more towards the bow as the problem. That's why I'm looking into seeing if I can slow the nitro down to make it more reliable and accurate.
Purchased a Hawke scope and it’s never had a single problem over 3 years. Every season it’s on come September 20-50 yards
I have owned nothing but ravin crossbows since they came out and have had ZERO issues with any of them. Currently have a ravin r29x and it is amazing. Expensive, but it does what it is supposed to do and ravin is very good at helping with any issues you may have. Confident to take shots out to 100 yards if need be. Furthest shot was 70 yards and arrow went right where it was supposed to go. Sometimes you get what you pay for…😬
Yeah, i agree with you. Im still using my old axiom...and im ok with it's limitations, so far, everything I've shot at has died very quickly. Lol. Im not interested in a new excalibur for the same reasons you mentioned, i can't enjoy a hunt if im worrying about the limbs breaking...and i know so many people using compound crossbows that seem to always have accuracy issues im not really confident in those either. It's hard for me to move on from something that is so reliable and simple to use
Yes a bad enough experience will cause someone to never use something again. If you buy it, you expect to work. And when it doesn’t it is upsetting. Also it is unsettling because when you need to use it, in the field, you can have that what if it doesn’t work properly thought.
I hope you get it all straightened out and working properly. I know it is frustrating.
Wow did not see this coming with the scope. The OB was impressive on the target range with it. Im sure you will get the Scorpyd figured out.
Good morning Rich things do go wrong and sometimes it’s they go wrong at the wrong time what I dislike is the time it might take to fix the problem and it’s frustrating as heck and therefore probably would look at a different product
Great video Rich! This isn't crossbow related but I have had some bad experiences with other equipment over the years. I do a lot of waterfowl hunting and I have had a lot of bad experiences with the remington brand and their shot guns but I still love my 870 which has never given me an issue and I will use it for ever but I won't but an other remington product going forward.

My first crossbow was a Parker bushwacker. I bought it in 2010. I love that bow. My son has it now because my dad bought a ten point siege rs 410 for me. I was only comfortable out to 30 yards with the Parker. But 30 yards and in that thing was great. Unfortunately they closed shop so no more Parker bows.
Still have my Parker thunderhawk. Bought extra sets of limbs before they went out. Good bows.
The Old long limb Excalibur a Great bomb proof performance. Like you I love my Vortex. 12 years old. Maintenance free.
Well I'm on the fence about scopes I don't use them on long rifles but I have just bought a 30-06 that has one I guess I will have to get one for my wildcat thanks for a very informative video two thumbs up

I purchased a Burris oracle x on your recommendation a few months ago. Could not sight it in, after a couple weeks trying sent it back. No problem with the refund. So agree with your CURRENT evaluation. I really wanted to like the scope tried very hard to get it to site in consistently, but was unable. Sticking with my original scope and using the Tactacam. All hail bungee
Sometimes its better to be simple, and ditch the tech.
I know the feeling. On my 3rd set of centerpoint limbs. Never dry fired, heavier bolts, always keep components lubbbed. Time to move on to another company.
My Excalibur Matrix 380 is flawless and I’ve had several misfires/dry fires. No limb issues at all! 7 years into it and bought used!
In my opinion that's just about the best it gets
I have 2 crossbows 1PSE and 1 Killer Instinct and my limbs broke on the PSE and had so much problems with it for the first 1 and got it figured out anyway the limbs was on back order for 5.5 months now that I have a back up ain’t worried about missing deer season again..
Had an issue with my first Barnett with nock burn on the right side. It was actually cutting a groove in the carbon and the nock. They argued and said it was normal I was adamant it wasn’t. I sent it back to them and they said the right limb was more powerful than the left and had to replace the whole head stock. Took 13 business days. I have 0 faith in Barnett so I sold it as I can’t trust it to take to the field with me.
Just got my new limbs for my mag 340 "2nd time" warranty is great but I really don't wanna have to keep doing this every season. Switching to 150g tips and broad heads hope this helps.
I had a guy drop off a Raven Xbow yesterday. The string blew while in the case and I have to build new string/cables for it. I rebuilt string/cables for several Raven Xbows. I have heard several guys tell me they had to get their Raven stings replaced due to failures. I don't know if it is a Raven issue or not. But those Xbows strings are under a lot of stress and need to be checked and replaced more often than compound bow strings do.
I feel the same way, Rich. I’m having some of the same accuracy issues this year with my Tenpoint, and I’m trying to systematically troubleshoot it. I’m not there yet. It performed fantastic last year. I changed strings & cables this year (to the tune of $180.00!) and it’s lost consistency. Don’t know why. I’ve got rifles, shotguns, and vertical bows that have been consistent for decades (15 years for the vertical bow). This finicky business with my crossbow is unacceptable to me. Thanks for the video!

Love my mag 340 micro. Simple and works, but if I were to change brands I think I would go tenpoint. My micro is a backup when I have tendinitis and can not pull my compound back. Compounds did the speed game for many years and some models still do. For me its 330 ish fps but must have a smooth draw.
I went back and forth on getting a mag 340 due to the limb issues but i still felt like it was the best option on the market for me due to home maintenance and simplicity. Hoping my limbs don't snap anytime soon but when they do I'm really really hoping the warranty process is as smooth as everyone says it is!
I wish you the best, and as an original owner I have no doubt they will treat you well as far as the warranty is concerned. If it comes to that. I still believe the vast majority of them don't have problems, or at least I hope so, good luck!
May I highly suggest a Huskemaw Crossbow Scope. Huskemaw scopes are well know in the Rifle world but now they have a Scope made specifically for Crossbows. They build a Turret for the Crossbow being shot. That turret is made for the speed of the Brand of Crossbow. It has a SINGLE Crosshair & the Turret is used for the yardage desired which goes from zero out to 140 yards. You really need to give them a look. I am switching to them. I think you will be surprised at the performance of these scopes. The Best of Luck for this Season.
Rich a possible solution to your scope issue could be the leather wood hi-lux camputer. It’s a mechanical system that ranges and automatically adjusts for range/trajectory.

I have had a 10 Point - 6 Point Series Defender CLS model x-bow for over 10 years now. It is a heavy well built 340 FPS x-bow. For over 10 years now I have never had any issues with it. I even bought a spare string for it when I purchased it but have not had to replace the original string yet because I keep it well waxed. I’ve taken many deer with it, it’s old & heavy, but it shoots great. I am thinking of buying a new, faster & lighter x-bow, but like Rich said, they don’t build them like they used to; plus, they can be >$2,000 now, I paid $700 for my 6 Point Defender CLS many years ago & it still shoots the same as it did when it was brand new. But, at just $500, I am looking at the new 405 FPS Killer Instinct Diesel X right now & thinking maybe keep my old 6 Point as a backup
Good thoughts! To me the more expensive something is, the less forgiveness. Also your point on not taking something to the woods you don’t have confidence in, is the biggest reason I haven’t switched broadheads!
Side Note- My first car was a Chevy trail blazer and it never gave me any problems lol, and I’m still a GM guy to this day😄

Wandering zero with a scope very first thing is dismount and remount the scope and double tighten ( caution, too tight is just as bad sometimes) the mounts. It's very often the mounts, rails, or other physical mounting type issue. I often will alcohol clean all contact points in the mounting system and put a Very Small ( REALLY SMALL) drop of Gorilla Super on any mounting contact points. ALWAYS check and trouble shoot mounting system before assuming optics are bad.
I have had no issues so far with my oracle x. My guess is the first one you bought had a factory flaw that was, hopefully, missed and not just swept under the rug by quality control to get the order completed and shipped. That's the dark side of awesome warranties, gives quality the agency to "pass" something they know is going to more than likely have a warranty issue.
Couldn't agree more Rich. Nothing more frustrating than arrows that won't group tight. No point in sitting in a tree stand if you don't have pin point accuracy. I'm not out there to miss or even worse, wound deer. As far as brand loyalty, they all have issues.
Please let us know about the X when you get somewhat of a final verdict. I just purchased one and mounted it to my CP amped 425. I have to believe the core performance of that scope is solid but problems can and do occur with ALL equipment just hope it’s an individual not fundamental problem. I work in an industry that sells and services industrial printers. I’m the service guy. I absolutely GET these last 2 videos and live the reality on the service side. I think I have or try to have a lot of empathy for the customers. You can an will get a “ lemon” from time to time especially if you deal with multiples of the same products. Your “potential” for problems double and triple and so on. Anyway appreciate you and the videos. If all my customers got as intimate with their printers as you do your archery equipment I might be unemployed 😅
A friend of mine had the limb tip on his Matrix 380 break. I called Excalibur for him and told them what happened, the only question they asked me was where to ship the replacement parts to. In less than a week I received new limbs, mounting hardware and a new string. Also, I have a good friend who owned a bow shop here locally, he is now a rep for Bear bows, he isn’t that big of a fan of crossbows, he’s a vertical bow guy but he told me that Excalibur is the only crossbow to own. All crossbows break and Excalibur has fewer than all the other brands. This comes from a guy that has been in the bow business his entire life. I’ve been lucky I guess, I’ve never had an issue with the two I’ve owned. I currently have a Micro Suppressor and I love it. Sorry that Genenieve had problems with hers.

I had 3 chevy trailblazers lol and yes I will never buy a chrvy again! Bad stuff can happen! I always thought Excalibur was good! Keep up the good videos!
Chevy works for some people and Excalibur works for others, we have to find our own path whether I like it or not haha all I can tell you is my experience and thought
It really depends on the exact reason on why something broke, or failed to perform, and how the company does or does not remedy the problem. For me there is no definite one way or the other.
You are absolutely right these companies don’t take into consideration the hard work we have to put in to make the money so that we can purchase a product we can count on and have pride in using. It’s a one an done for me I own a Wicked Ridge invader 400 price tag $900, Excalibur assassin 400 TD price tag of $1,400 and a Ki Diesel XL Elite $599 and I can’t seem to find the one that can give me the results that I can relay heavily on. Waste of money I think I’m going back to my compound bow I had since 2012 Bowtech CPX Invasion. Honestly I can’t risk it during hunting season anymore. My vacation time it limited and I have to put all efforts into have a great time worrying about the weapon of choice.

I've had over past24 years every make of crossbow, except Excalibur.
Started with Horton, fair, Barnett not so fair, Parker, not so fair, Wicked Ridge NXT400, very good, Tenpoint, from early Titan to last Shadow!
The Turbo 2 was the best, least troublesome of any of the Tenpoints, Titan was good also.
A few years ago I had 3 Tenpoint Crossbows all go down with splintered limbs, talk about frustration. Luckily, my neighbor had a Ravin R10 that he loaned me to finish out the New Jersey, Pennsylvania archery season with.
I'm hooked on Ravin for their quality & technology. I sold all 3 Tenpoints, & now own 2 Ravin R10's. Shot both out to 72yds. Both perform flawlessly so far. IMO, Tenpoint quality control went really downhill, crossbows from them in past 2-3 years are not the same. I'll never buy another one!!!
My question to you is, have you ever considered a Ravin crossbow. 100% American made. I heard rumors that's not true of Tenpoint.

I have shot several different models from Ravin but they really don't suit me, they tend to be loud in my experience and I don't like their trigger. I totally get that other people do like the trigger! But it's just too far different from the ones I'm used to. That being said I really do appreciate them as a company for moving crossbow technology forward.
Hey Rich, I got the Oracle X on my new ravin about this time last year from Wyvern, Dave is great BTW. So during the sighting in process witch I was following to a T, lost the range find feature of the scope, tried every thing, no luck, called Burris, they asked me if the lens was clean and if I had a good battery, both yes, they told me to send it in. At this point I was annoyed so I ended up ordering a Garmin Xero. It's like comparing a tool to a toy, yes I know the Garmin is $1800 but its excellent. The Burris is sitting on my floor in its box collecting dust..
Seems like all products are going crap, as company's have severely lowered their standards on who they hire and keep as employees. When the older good employees retire, you will have nothing good left to run these places. It really is out of control, and these companies are cutting their own throats, and losing good reputation.

I wrote off my scorpyd tremor 470 crossbow after having 3 broken limbs and 5 cut cables I deemed unsafe and used 1/2 pound of tannerite so that problem is gone so I’ll stick to my Excalibur 420 and ravin R500

Of course you want your scope to work, you have 2 and they do cost a lot. I own a KI Boss 405 (as a backup). Luckily the limbs haven't broken. Caveat, only about 75 shots through it. KI's lifetime policy helps, but I'd rather not have to go through it. ( they have over replaced a couple things for me).
Thats my issue rite now. I want the Excalibur but limb failure is a scary thought. But my extensive research shows they have one of the best customer service. Then looking at the 10 point my local shop stopped supporting them because they had horrible customer service. The reason i like 10 point it is American made.
I trouble with a Tenpoint I have never bought a Tenpoint crossbow ever again.

Please do, very interested, although from what I can tell it only goes out to 80 yards, it will range out to 250 but only give you reticles to 80. Not sure why that is.
@@Deathbybunjie 80 is good for me as long as I am accurate up to 80 then chasing my tail with other Scope’s not holding accuracy, I like the fact that I can range out to 250 for a spot and stock in open country. Shooting with 450 ft./s RAVEN and absolutely chasing my tail with two different scopes

After Excalibur was bought out by Bowtech, I became wary of them. My newest Excalibur is a Matrix Bulldog 400. I refuse to buy a newer one due to my skepticism. I've seen a few have issues, and I refuse to risk it despite their warranty policy.

Rich, concerning your Burris accuracy issues, check the scope mounts and the the adjustment screws. From what I have read, if the accuracy goes south, it was most often traced back to the mounts or loose adjustment lock screws. Make sure the scope itself is tightly attached to the base mount, and ditto for the base mount to the scope rail.
Thanks, I've read that also, and I did try them. I also found the screws after I took it off which were tight, and now it's boxed up and ready to go back.

Once again Rich spot on. Yes I will definitely say goodbye to a certain company I cannot name currently. I have 4 of their 100% poorly engineered crossbows. How can a $340 crossbow purchased directly from the manufacturer need $280 worth of "Warranty" repairs from shooting one of their defective bolts??? Not under warranty if you shoot a different manufacturers bolts. Hint: They multiply the cost of everything 10x.

I said good bye to Ford Trucks when my 2005 Ranger's frame rotted after 4 years/30K miles and they wouldn't do anything about it. I love my Excalibur Micro and will be fine with it even if the limbs break IF they deal with it promptly. So I don't expect there never to be a problem, but I also expect an excellent response from the customer service department.
You called it on that oracle X I’m right there with you. I had two units that I sent back first one. I broke the up down adjustment and it got stuck and would not turn anymore. The next one I had the same issue I went through the truing process and was good to go. Started moving my bag around and it started shooting off. I’ve already kind of wrote Burris off in my mind. It would be very hard for me to purchase one of their products between a broken arrow and paying shipping fees back-and-forth I probably spent $200 out of my own pocket just testing it out…. Here’s my thing you could have a big buck in front of you and that Oracle messes up and you gonna shoot it or shoot it in the hind legs I can’t take that chance I went back to my speed scope. That technology is great if it works, but if it doesn’t, you’re SOL and only have a 20 yard pin.

I bought the new Excalibur Wolverine 360 this year because I loved the way it looks. I had the 355 and 340 and never had a problem with either luckily. I hope this 360 is just as reliable!!

I shot a deer with it opening morning then started hunting with my recurve. It’s much more challenging!! But if you want meat on the table the Excalibur is hard to beat!!

I bought a Garmin instead. In another one of your videos, you mentioned how the Garmin is more complicated to set up. That is true. It is a bit tricky. But once set up, it is point and shoot. It has a very cool feature which can be turned on and off as you please. That feature gives feedback on how stable you are holding the bow. If you are stable, the aim point is a dot. But if you aren't holding it steady, a circle appears around your aim point, the less steady you are holding the crossbow, the larger the circle, indicating that you are not ready to make an accurate, responsible shot. That is very important to me as I mostly hunt saddle from a tree. Saddle hunting gets you great shot opportunities, but sometimes stability can be very difficult. So far it has worked great. I have only had it for about a month and have taken about 25 shots with it. But so far, thumbs up.

An update: I tested my crossbow with the Garmin scope from a few trees to verify that the scope was properly computing the angle of elevation. In one trial, the target was only 9 yards away with me 23 feet up in the tree. This set-up is great in that the deer below have a difficult time picking up my movements, but it also creates a more difficult shot because of the severe angle. Bullseye. The scope did its job. For my next trial I moved to a tree that was 32 yards away. I was too tired and lazy to bring up my ring of steps and a spare tether, meaning that I was not very stable in the tree. It was difficult to hold the crossbow steady. The arrow was off target by 6 inches. I assumed that my shot was just wild. The scope was showing me how unstable I was, as the aim point was cloaked in a circle which expanded and contracted to match my instability. I call it The Circle of Doubt, as in I doubt I will recover that deer, if I even hit it. I then set up on the ground and shot the same 32 yard distance from a shooting rest. Spot on at 32, then 42, then within an inch at 62. The scope did its job. The off target shot from the tree was my instability, but the scope gave me the appropriate warning. It turned out to be good training on when NOT to take the shot at an animal. Of course, I took the shot anyway. And I successfully recovered the target. LOL. I don't have a name for my crossbow. Good video as usual. Funny my trailblazer was garbage also it’s the reason I also have driven solely Toyota. Also I’m wondering if I should order again at Wyvern Creations. My bow purchasing experience was good so about a year later decided to order arrows and specifically wanted chartreuse vanes. Well they sent white, so I called them up and was told they were too busy to put chartreuse vanes on and white was what they had in stock. Their attitude sucked about it. That’s not what they told me when I put the order in and have you ever tried to spot white vanes in the snow ? I also like a heavy arrow about 475-500 grains and they argued with me over that. I have been shooting longbows, compounds, and crossbows for decades & I know what I want.
I've always liked those guys and actually ordered some more recently, we'll have a video about that, but yes I am picky about arrows also!

Yes! I will never own an Excalibur ever again. I owned a Micro 340 and it was a great bow! I bought an Micro 380 this past spring. I lost 3 deer this past season and was about to give up cause of this. I found out that my New Micro 380 had a cracked limb which affected the accuracy. Under 100 shots I had to replace the string and had cracked limbs. The bow used only Excalibur bolts. I paid $1200.00 and some change for this dealer model! Excalibur is junk now!

With the Burris, are you using a torque driver and making sure everything is tightened to spec? Some scopes are really sensitive to being overtorqued and they won’t track or will lose zero. If your rail is at all loose, the scope may get off and you may have to put another scope through its paces to find it’s not holding zero either. Just some experiences and observations I’ve had with rifle scopes.
Good points, I used the wrench that came with it, and it was snug and not holding zero, but yes I also put a different scope back on that crossbow and it's shooting perfectly. So, it's the scope.
@@Deathbybunjie yeah after my issues I made sure to get an adjustable torque wrench to make sure I’m not introducing that error. I think you’re just dealing with the cutting edge QC issue. Quality and and consistency tends to go up as you spend more money UNTIL you get into the realm of the cutting edge where a company is making a new technology or at least one that is new to them. QC issues are generally way higher in this realm because the tech hasn’t been tested as thoroughly and they don’t necessarily have their manufacturing processes as dialed in and/or know what tolerances are allowable. You spend big on a new gizmo to be a beta tester. I wouldn’t give up on a company when you purchase products in this tier and have issues because it is incumbent on the informed consumer to realize they are assuming more risk when making such a purchase. I get off using a company when their version of a classic tried and true product fails or just plain isn’t price competitive. Vortex optics checks both for me. You spend more to get less features AND I had a product failure. Everyone raves about the warranty, but basically every optics manufacturer gives a lifetime warranty. They just flat out aren’t worth the price. I’m sure several crossbow manufacturers fall into the same category. Why spend 2-3x the money to have a Ten Point label on your crossbow if you’re buying a model that operates at a standard velocity window? It just doesn’t make sense. Spend big on your projectiles and second on your optics. The launcher doesn’t matter nearly as much as a good sighting system and the projectiles, which is what does all the actual work.
