    The temptation to go with electronic scope is strong, but missing a trophy buck because of a malfuntion is what steers me away.

    Technology is great. But this seems overwhelming and excessive. Remember the OB the first year you got it. I enjoy toys. But I also enjoy the rugged plain old scope and the challenges that come with it, testing our skills and abilities. I go into the woods to escape the WiFi Bluetooth radio frequency noises, not bring them with me. Just my opinion.

    I prefer to not make crossbow hunting too complicated. You have had great success with the OB by keeping things simple. I would not risk a bad shot on a nice deer. I will stick with my Vortex Crossfire that is always right on. Never changes and no batteries/bluetooth to rely on. Keep it simple and good luck Rich on your September hunts. All hail Bunjie!

    I have little time to watch each day anymore BUT... When I got 5 alerts from people (blowing me up) about this video, I had to stop and watch.
    Dont take this the wrong way....
    What did I say about high tech and such?
    What did you say (in the past) about high tech?
    This is what I said would happen and you knew that before even stepping a toe into the water.
    😆
    On a side note... I have not been hearing anything about failures with the Garmin. Might be because I dont have a minute for Crossbow Nation over the last couple of years, or Maybe because those issues just dont exist.
    If that is the case....
    The Garmin would seem to be the cheaper out for such a scope.
    No?
    Anyway...
    I still think a flat shooting bow (shot covers the dot diameter at given range) and a shot distance (inside that dot) is far easier and more successful after the trigger is pulled.
    All the same....
    You are really showing everyone all sides now and that is EXCELLENT.
    Thanks (as always) for all your time and everything you do for everyone who is a crossbow hunter.
    Good job!

      Always great to hear from you!
      100% agree on tech, on latest and greatest. 100% prefer tried true and tested, which this isn't yet, but will be some day.
      The Garmin only has a 1 year warranty, costs way more, has a fixed zoom, and only gives reticles to 80 yards. And it's way too complex for me. Just my thoughts. I suspect the reason we don't see as many complaints is because they haven't sold a fraction of what the Oracle X has sold, given the price. Could also be that they're a stronger product, that's entirely possible!

    • @leveraction767
      @leveraction767 Рік тому

      Strong observations. Give and take.
      That said...
      When you promise the same at 1/2 the price, that would equate to far more units sold to the lower price.
      I would love to know the facts concerning the return side for either though.
      Might be a tell tell
      Thanks for the reply.
      Always good to hear from you too.
      Tell the family I said hi :)

    Glad to hear that Burris was good to deal with. I want to take my Burris off my "Slick Black Cadillac" and place it on my new X1. But I'm waiting on custom arrows so I can properly sight it in. I'm not sure I will get them before our season begins, so I don't want to mess up a bow that is sighted in.

    Hi Rich, thanks for your posts and all the info you share! I enjoy your channel. I have had the Oracle X for just over a year now. The first scope battery sat all winter and still had some life left in it. After changing it this fall with a good new Duracell, I noticed a rapid decline in the battery. I managed to shoot a nice buck with it just a few weeks ago with that battery showing 1/2 power left but not long after the battery was dead. I had only hunted twice with that battery! I then noticed that even with a new battery my remote button was no longer working and it turned out that the button cell battery in the remote was basically out of power. My new main scope battery started loosing power rapidly again. My question is this: Does having a weak or dead button cell battery in the remote cause the scope battery to quickly decline because it is constantly searching to bluetooth connect to the remote? Is the weak or dead button cell battery in the remote the root cause of all of those scopes you mentioned draining batteries quickly? What do you think?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  10 місяців тому +1

      It's odd that it worked better than it does now that's odd. I don't think it constantly searches for Bluetooth connections because if it did then the remote would turn the scope on. The fact that you have to turn the scope on with the fire button first and then activate the remote tells me that it is not looking for the remote, except for the 30 minutes that it remains on. I will say this about the battery, I have extras in my backpack at all times and I found a tool that I will feature in an upcoming video that makes changing the battery a breeze. I have no apprehension whatsoever about changing the battery. So let them run dead for all I care haha. Not a perfect answer but I think you will like that upcoming video.

    • @noblefalconry
      @noblefalconry 10 місяців тому

      I now believe I was mistaken that it worked better after I replaced the button cell battery in the remote. I just called Burris and they told me that the battery drain issue is a know issue that they have had and they will fix it for free. They sent me a return label while I was on the phone with them so I sent it back today already. I was on hold for a while but when it was my turn they were very patient with me. Burris definitely has top notch service! @@Deathbybunjie

    I had a similar experience with Burris. Pleasant and responsive to deal wi5h and my scope was returned sooner than the estimate they gave me. Both times. The second one was brand new as they said the original was unrepairable. I tried out the new scope sighting it in and like you, trued at 35 and 50 yds. It shot great. But I decided to sell it. My reasons were I lost confidence in the product and tho it's a great concept, I just didn't feel like it was ready for "prime time". For the cost of this product it should be more refined. The allen screws to tighten the windage and elevation are still a hastle and kinda difficult to use. The battery compartment door is very difficult to get back on for my fat fingers to deal with. Like you I really wanted this to work, and the second one they sent me did. But I only kept it long enough to make sure it was functioning properly. So I now have KI's MV36 scope on my X1 and it's excellent. But I'll be waiting for Burris to bring out Oracle X v2.0. Maybe it'll be a little smaller and a little more user friendly. Burris has good cs and I have no issues with them. I just think due to market competition it may have been a little rushed to get to market.

    They told me it was searching for blue tooth. Not only did my battery drain prematurely. Additionally, 3 people (including me) could not even get the battery in after it was replaced. I also loved my Burris the first time out and was so excited for the season. My philosophy is simple: Battery compartment technology is not complicated. The design flaw was unacceptable. The agreed to return for a refund. I went with the Garmin. As Rich says, it is more complicated to set up. And the scope is more expensive. But it is working for me so far. Excited for October 1 to see how it performs on a deer.

    so, I'm guessing that the battery they used is not the best battery, I to have had the same thing with the battery just taking a crap on me in the middle of using it. Do I have to set the truing on the scope or can i just not deal with that and just use the range finder and go from that, or is there a benefit to setting all that information like the drop, truing, bolt and so on? Way too many moving parts for my liking. The Scope that came with my G340 has been great for last 3 seasons. Reaching out to 50 yards each year not needing to adjust anything. Every year when I get out to shoot targets, the scope is spot on without any adjusting, battery's, Bluetooth any of that stuff. Shooting 3-inch groupings are fine for me at the set distances I have set. Pretty soon you will be able to reheat leftovers out in the filed with those types of scopes lol.

    Good points. I’m going to start with 2 tru points. I just got the scope mounted with a torque wrench settings on the bottom mount screws and the pic rail mount screws 70 in/lbs and 100 respectively. Those are my own specs. Not theirs so maybe more than wise but I didn’t break or strip anything. Loose screws will not be an issue for my set up or shouldn’t be. ABSOLUTELY GREAT VIDEO feedback. I have been putting off sighting this thing in just dreading any complications. But I’m going to give it a try this weekend. Between your channel and the facebook group, I stay informed on the potential issues. Burris needs to know the reality of their product and the real legitimate issues so they can fix them and address them in any upcoming models. Thanks for keeping a a no excuses approach and not giving up. When this product works well and as advertised it is a “game changer” to steal something you once said. That’s truth!

      I use the Swhackers, 150gr 3" crossbow broadheads and on most of our crossbows they hit the same as the field points. But NOT on the new SWAT X1 I'm using now! They hit a bit low, and the further out I go the more noticeable it is. But one of the cool things about the Burris Oracle X is that I can set it up for two different arrow setups. So on that crossbow, I use the BOLT 2 setting for the Swhackers, since they're dead on at 20, and it worked perfectly this year. They are dead on at 60 out of that crossbow, and if I go back to field points I can just switch back to BOLT 1. Pretty cool!

    Electrical things can and often do have whats called a parasitic draw. It is an electrical issue and Burris should not over look it. That’s discerning a little bit.
    But that said with you now with 5 or 6 and others with whom knows how many eventually they will fix it all up in 10-20 years.
    That maybe a good time for me to get one hahahahahaha. By the way i think i heard Bunjie snickering about the scope issues. Just saying hahahahahaha.
    All seriousness Rich i hope these work out for you and i hope they do rectify these issues because they are not cheap scopes not by any means. They are over 1100.00 here in canada for 1 i was considering buying one until you and others listed issues. Really glad i have that old Shadowzone. I even had issues with the DLX’s once. Does the scope have angle compensation for steep uphill/downhill shots and if it does, have you tested the accuracy for those uphill/downhill shots?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  Рік тому

      Yes it does, it's the same as any rangefinder, and when it works, the accuracy is spot on

    • @halfstep67
      @halfstep67 Рік тому

      I suspect the Burris scope has its own ability to set the correct angle compensation program due to its ability to correctly adjust the site for different yardages.
      The angle compensation on range finders usually produces a cosine error due to not being able to program the speed and arrow weight into the compensation program. If a person had the ability to program their rangefinder with the correct speed and arrow weight, then the angle compensation would be correct for that bow. Even if your Burris range finding scope does produce a cosine error, it won't be near as noticeable due to the speed of your new Hyper-Bunjie.
      On a vertical bow with slower speeds, an angle compensating range finder can be noticeably off at longer distances at steep angles. @@Deathbybunjie

    The trajectory of the newer crossbows is staggering at those higher speeds. My Barnett Recurve Crossbow shoots a medium weight arrow around 450 grains pretty flat to 25 yards which is about my max to hit a deer before it can move an insane amount before the arrow arrives. Still have to aim low. Guessing at those longer ranges, deer may actually react to the sound of the arrow more than the crossbow which they may not react to at all at those longer distances.

  • @burkstwelve
    @burkstwelve Рік тому

    I guess I would never have to worry about having these issues. The cost is the biggest factor, then having to watch a video on how to fix things if they start going bad. It is sad that you had to do a video on this, when Burris should have something already posted on their website for these issues.. It is nice to hear they are good to work with, but it sure doesn't help when you are hunting and miss or especially wound a deer due to a malfunction of a very expensive scope. Would this not be the same as the car situation you spoke about a few years back and how you would never own another "Chevy"?

    • @Deathbybunjie

      That Trailblazer had a lot more issues than the scope haha, remember I got a good season out of that scope and it worked perfectly. First of let me say i enjoy your videos and always look forward to see new ones. Keep up the good work guys!!!! IMO Burris scope is fun and good to have for target practice and why wouldn’t be wright, but when it come down to practicality not sooo much. Im just not seeing it withstand the abuse that it will go through in the field and at the other hand it’s big and will make awkward to move around freely in the woods. I do believe we as humans tempt to over think simplicity and it’s never good or better outcome. Simple been working for years and it will continue to work many years to come.
