- Before starting and finishing a kata, we always bow. Never skip this step; it is part of the kata training.
You have to bow is not a matter of manners, stylistic beauty, or even mentality-it's from a purely technical point of view.
What does that mean? Let's dive deeper.

sensei, this explanation in the video makes more sense to keep the cog of our body in the chest area because we walk on 2 feet in comparison to our ancestors who walked on 4 legs.
so in a way martial art practice of maintaining correct posture must have been the need of the hour earlier when the economy was mainly driven by manpower mostly.
this concept i have observed in traditional artisans who relied on their body too much for the work output.
thank you for the wonderful insight.
oss!
I'm guilty of skipping Rei when practicing kata on my own, I'll be sure to do it properly next time! Osu!
Thank you Sensei, when this series on Naihanchi ends will you continue to analyze some other important Kata?
Personally I hope so.
OSU!👊
I only do three kata: naihanchi, tomari seisan, and pinan nidan (heian shodan in Shotokan).
After I finish this series on naihanchi, I will make a video explaining very briefly about tomari seisan and pinan nidan.
Also, I have been getting a lot of inquiries and requests for commentary on sanchin, so I feel I need to do some work on that as well.
@@shinjiwatanabe8131 It will be very interesting,Arigatō Gozaimashita.
Osu!
