Blowing up a Sundown Audio Xv3 12" subwoofer with over 4000 watts of clean power!

- Today I decided to destroy one of my Sundown Audio Xv3 12's. I blew the cone apart on my other one after unloading it a couple dozen times during demos so I wanted to recone both subs to match. This is a sundown Xv3 12 D2 wired down to 1ohm, an AudioApex CAB-45 amp on 96ah of SPIM08HP lithium powered by a 320a alternator. Links below for those

The point for me woulda been blowing that bitch up to recone it... I have a zv5 that's needs a recone it has a cut in the surround due to drill mishaps

It's like double the RMS rating I know the X series is rated at 1500 watts but I think they bumped it up for the v3

Stabbing the dustcap was where you stuffed up, didn't force air into the gap to cool the coil sufficiently

I noticed the cab-45 and cab-22 amps are no longer available. It's unfortunate, i had a cab-22 that went out on me. I thought about getting one again.

I have an xv3 12 on a cab45 and love it. I don't clip it much and it's loud as fuck in the spec size box. I have a second cab but I need another x12 then going to build a 4th. Currently running 32ah headway and a 320 autotech. Nice vid man definitely enjoyed it. Sundown is an amazing brand.
I have 2 Xv3 12's on 2 CAB-45's in a 5.3ft3 net ported box tuned to 28hz. I did 150.9db @ 28hz out the gate, prob gained 1-2db after the recones 💪🏼

@@MikeJrOfficial Do your dust caps get warm? I have 1 on a JP23v2 at 1 ohm and the dust cap gets pretty warm. The clip light on the amp literally never even blinks so i'm trying to see if its common for these subs to have warm dust caps during operation.
@No Horsepower Yes they get warm but shouldn't get hot I don't think that amplifier is strong enough for that subwoofer? At 1 ohm with impedance rise maybe 1800 rms now if you could run it at .5ohms then the impedance would rise up to. 8ohms almost one ohm and if you can keep your voltage at 14.4 or 14.6 then you could get 2300 rms? I have two jp23 amplifiers and strapped them on my 2 sundown xv3 12s and they barely pushed them? Then I put a Taramps bass 8k on them and brought them to life

How common is it for a amp to go into protect when blowing a subwoofer?
If you burn the coil out it should go into protect because the coil should create a short
Very common when a sub blows the coils wire touch same as touching ur pos and. Neg speaker wires together
