This is just a short quick and easy video on how to remove the yellow and black tar and nicotine cigaarette contamination from the walls and ceilings of a house. When I was cleaning this house, I was in a hurry plus still dealing with the death of my brother. So, video recording the steps I took to remove the nicotine off the walls wasn't my top priority. However, I did take pictures and I did some video recordings.
The process is very easy really, just a nasty task all in all. Sorry for the delay in writing back, did Superclean help cut the smoke damage. Sadly, in most cases of a fire, you usually have to replace the drywall. Let us know how it turned out.

Super Clean is AMAZING! I even used it to strip off varnish from an old chair, I let it sit, scrub with a toothbrush, rinsed it off and the next day when the wood was dry it looked like I spent hours of sanding and it had a bleach like effect on the wood I was blown away by the results. I've used many degreasers for cigarette stains but Super Clean out performs all of them. I first discovered it from watching auto detailing videos. I'm so glad I did.

Thank you, sir. I've tried everything in the book except TSP to clean the smoke out of my parents' house and nothing really works, despite what others claim. I already have some Super Clean from when I used to detail cars but never thought to try it. Used it on a couple of doors after watching your video... this stuff is magic. I heavily diluted the small amount left in the bottle and it still melted the nicotine away. The doors are finally white and it took very little time or effort. What's even better is that Super Clean isn't very harsh. Couldn't even smell it after diluting. Thankfully I already have an unopened jug in the garage. Also going to try using a mop for the popcorn ceilings when I get to that point. Thanks again.

Super Clean! I have been using this stuff for eons!! I collect dolls and had come across some of the old Barbie and Skipper dolls, their legs were brown from never have been cleaned. I tried all kinds of cleaners but nothing worked, then someone told me about Super Clean, I tried it and it took all of the dirt, even the ground in dirt, off of the dolls’ legs! I did use some Armor All on them after using the Super Clean to bring back the shine! I also used it on telephones I would buy at yard sales and thrift stores, also clocks and other stuff that 409 or Fantastic wouldn’t clean!! I can’t do without my Super Clean, I love that stuff!! But, a word of warning, do wear gloves when using this, it will mess your fingernails up and really dry out your skin!! I am going to use this on a travel trailer that we had bought from my sister-in-law who wasn’t supposed to smoke in it until it was paid for, but she did it anyway, now I am having to clean it up really good so we can sell it!!

TSP would not work, to cut the tar and nicotine, is has to be strictly a degreaser. Super Clean worked like a champ, and really saved me big bucks from having to tear out drywall and flooring from the nastiness and smells. TSP, however does work great on Concrete, used it plenty for cleaning that. @@stevedave70
So, when you remove the smoke-filled carpet from a slab floor, clean it with TSP? I'm guessing you have to wait a long time for that to dry before new LVP flooring can be installed? @@Lifenrichments

Me and wife smoke....after you stop and look at what you're looking at...the walls ceiling other thing's...even your car it destroys....smoking destroys things....when you half to scrub everything it's makes you sick to see what it does to thing's...I'm a smoker 🚬 if you need to smoke go out side ...trust me like this man when you half to tackle scrubbing smoked up wall and ceiling it will break you...smoking sucks...great job on cleaning guy you rock as other's who tackle this...know wonder land lord's say no smoking on rentals ....i respect people's who don't want nothing to do with smoking or dealing with it....

This was a heaven sent video as I am putting my home in the market and have realized my walls are horribly nicotine stained Karen South Africa
In Australia use 30 seconds outdoor cleaner. It doesn’t damage the paint, it’s at Bunnings but get the 5L one and pour in a spray bottle at home. Use on doors, walls, ceiling fans ( yes ceiling fans), everything. The shower cleaner from them doesn’t work, just use the one I said on everything. It’s the best I’ve ever seen in 50 years of cleaning. It’s all you need ever. Guarantee it.
I smoke, and i regularly clean my walls, windows, etc. The problem is the person who lived here before me smoked, a lot more than me, and never cleaned anything! I want to try Superclean because anything that helps me keep a clean house i want. Thank you for the ceiling tip. I have been struggling with cleaning the ceilings. It did remove the cigarette smell from the house in this video. Of course I went back over all the sheetrock with the oil based Kilz
@@Lifenrichmentshi, I watched the video on super clean for the smoke towels what ratio did you use? I've used superclean in the past four different things but I'm just recently cleaning for someone and the person used medical marijuana for 17 years and it really messed up the walls.

I am not sure it would do much for pet stains unless the stains are caused by the animals oily hair. It could hurt to try, let us know if that works.
I wouls say I mixed it from 50/50 to 60/40, being more superclean. I know it varied in places, some areas I sprayed with a pump sprayer 100% Superclean to break down the heavy black tar and nicotine.@@juliemesser226

Once the carpets came up, you were probably looking at the bare wood floors; i’d like to hear about that, and how you cleaned the smell out of that, too, If you please.
I may be in a situation where I’m going to have to clean a lot of years of really terrible smoke out of a house, So, I really appreciate this video that you took the time to make, to help everybody else out.
I ordered the stuff I used from Amazon.
For the floors after I pulled up the carpet, I used a push broom and OdoBan. I used a pump sprayer and sprayed the wood floors with OdoBan and scrubbed and worked the OdoBan in. I would then take old bath towels and wipe it dry. A day or two later after it had fully dried, I went back over it with Super Clean. The smell and dirt was eliminated. I know the person that owns the house now. I went back for a visit. No smells and she isn't complaining either.

Hello, I don’t want to offend anyone, but I did want to share with you. I’ve been a smoker since I was 15 years old. I am now 67 years old. I am a twin to another girl we both smoke not no longer. Do I smoke? I’ve been taking some thing through my doctor that works I kid you not my twin sister finally quit smoking regular cigarettes. She now smokes one of those vapors, but I tried that as well. I didn’t really care for it. So I went to my doctor. I am working on trying to quit. He gave me a pill form which is called Chantix. You take it faithfully and I’ll tell you why you follow the rules and you will quit smoking somehow in your brain it makes you feel as if you already had a cigarette it’s really cool you’ll get up in the morning have your cup of coffee and you’ll forget about even thinking of lighting up a cigarette. But after I think it’s the second week and you can smoke the whole time if you want while you’re taking these pills but I think it’s around the second week on the fourth day you tell yourself I’m done this is my last day or you just continue to smoke, and eventually that pill will kick in and you will no longer smoke. You will light a cigarette and it will be yucky, and that’s what you want it to do is make you not want a cigarette I am on my first months batch and I’m on my third week right now and it’s great. It’s the best feeling it’s as if I’ve never smoked in my entire life. So they say it causes, vivid dreams, or sleepwalking Well I found that you take one after you eat something in the morning and then you take one after dinner time. But I have found if I take the one for after dinner before I go to bed I feel much better I make sure I take one every night before I go to bed so you take it twice a day once after breakfast and once after dinner. But I take my after dinner one before I go to bed because I don’t it’s kind of a, I don’t know how to explain it but I don’t know. I just know that I have vivid dreams. I don’t sleepwalk I don’t commit suicide I don’t everything they said about it has not happened only the vivid dreams. I haven’t had a dream since I was a kid and now I’m having all these weird dreams, but what’s a dream gonna hurt no one. Anyway, let me know what you find out try it can’t hurt and God bless you and I hope it works for you whatever decision you make my name is Mary .
Plus, I would like to say to you congratulations how exciting that is your kids will love you for it. It’s worth it believe me you will be happy you tried it and believe me I’ve tried for years to quit on my own cold turkey it don’t work. And no one has the right to put you down over it especially if they were once smokers themselves.

I had a bucket of diluted Super Clean and a rag. After I sprayed a good section of the wall, I would then wipe up the remains with that diluted mix and that is where i stopped. I let the walls dry for a couple of days, then used the Oil Based Kilz on it and it worked like a charm.
What about the air ducts, did the cigarette smoke remain in the duct work? I just bought a home with a lot of cigarette smoke inside fortunately I have a gallon of Super Clean and now I will be using it to clean my new home. I didnt even consider using it until I saw your video tonight. Now I have hope to clean my home. I was dreading having to tear down the sheet rock.
Also, thanks for showing off the aerosol Super Clean I will get a can to clean the interior of my Jeep Gladiator.
@@estiloram For the duck work, I disconnected it in a few places where I could wipe sections out. Sometimes using a regular mop with Superclean solution, and then going back with a clean mop to wipe out any residual. I would take the registers out and run my hands deep into the vent areas and also wipe out with Superclean. I did my best to wipe what I could, however, some duck has a fiber insulation in them. If this is your case, you cannot do any of this. The thing that seemed to work best for removing the cigarette smell for the duck was using an Ozone Generator. I opened up the return, the part where your air filter is and set the Ozone Generator inside it and then set the fan on the AC unit to run all the time. I let it run for a week. @@Lifenrichments Do you think, if you can’t use an ozone machine in the vents because ppl and pets are living in the house, that it will continue to smell like smoke? I’m talking about homes, walls, etc that aren’t as bad as what you are showing, but still smells strongly like smoke in the home.
Also - I know of a product called End Smoke that contains Metazene. That is another product to research/check out purely for the *smell* of the house, car, etc. The scent of it is similar to a new car scent, but not exactly.
I have used it, but never in a place where smoking has been stopped, so I dont know if it will take the smell away for good. Spraying it on a filter did help it go through vents, and spraying on curtains did too. Metazene is what is in the scents in all the stores and public places you go in.. they use it in a vapor or mist to keep stores smelling good. Thats how I found out about it.

Yes, you can use Super Clean on those type of materials. Usually any material that can withstand water, will be OK to use Super Clean on. I always recommend testing small sections first before going all out, just to be safe.
I have washed fabrics that ppl wanted to keep in Ammonia Lemon HDX. I get it at Home Depot. Just a bit in the laundry really helps w anything that stinks. But *do not mix with any bleach or bleaching agents that are in other laundry products*. This would be for a stand alone pre-wash basically. Always rinse completely with water before washing with any other product.
I’m going to try the Super Clean this week. Always looking to make cleaning easier, but effective.

Where do you buy super clean?
Walmart, most part stores. Home Depot has a Zep brand that is called the Industrial Purple Degreaser that is really good and it is concentrated, so you can mix some water with it to stretch it out.

Question: when you spray the Super Clean on do you use a moistened mop to dab it off?
Afterwards do you need to do a rinse?

What is in Super Clean?
Superclean is a Degreaser that can be used in automotive or home areas. I first started using it in my garage degreasing engines, but later found it useful removing years of gunk on home items like stove and oven parts. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You gave me hope. My granny passed away several years ago and my cousin and uncle lived in the house. They are heavy smokers. We bought my granny’s house and I’m devastated by how disgusting it is from overall filth and cigarette smoke. They ruined her once beautiful home. Now we are trying to fix what they ruined. And I’m battling the smoke covered walls right now. I’m so happy to know it’s not impossible. Thank you for giving me some peace of mind.
Did you dilute the super clean in the sprayer or use full strength?
I was buying the Super Clean in the gallon jugs and at first I wasn't but it was getting expensive so I tried diluting it, pretty much 3 parts SC to 1 part water and it still cut the nicotine right off the walls.

Sadly, it off gas for years. Unless you actually replace the walls, vents, outlets, insulation doors, etc.
It's like meth it soaks into everything. Cleaning and covering helps but it just makes what's left, off gas more slowly. Which as long as new people are both aware and not sensitive to it still possible to just clean.

I am friends with the girl who bought the house and I go visit from time to time. No smells have ever come back, and all my cleaning and restoring was done back in 2018. If it was going to show up, it would have by now.
