I have two of the MFer 7”0 rods. I use them for crank baits, bigger tubes, worms, and flat 75x. They also do well with a chatter bait. They really are an all purpose rod. I have the 7”5’ extra heavy in my sights now as my next purchase.

I’m going to Florida via Virginia in two weeks and really wanted to fish while there. It’s iced over in most of my ponds and lakes here now, so I’m jonesing. Absolutely awesome info. Being newer to the game and not familiar with the terminology this was an excellent video to learn from. Looking at the 4 piece casting rod. Fish a lot of ponds and lakes in the Finger Lakes of NY.

I have almost have ordered the Zark several times. I will have to save and get one! I have one Milliken rod and I plan on getting more. The one I have is really well made.
Love the video, I will be buying the first rod. The compact rod wenbe great. I have only been throwing a bait caster for about a year. Those have been round bait casters for catfishing. My uses would.be for farm ponds, some fishing from a kayak and small lakes. Just checking to see if there would be another shimano other then the one he had on his rod

Thanks for all the great info. Definitely would appreciate a vid about reels. I've used cheap equipment all my life. Definitely looking to get into a little better quality. Just ordered the Milliken spinning rod. Now gotta figure out what reel to get.
It’s super interesting how much opinion can vary on things in fishing. I have always had great luck with Abu Garcia reels, the rods are strait dookie though IMO. I also am a fan of glass rods for crank baits and chatter baits. What will really trip you out is I throw the Whale on a 7ft glass rod and have thrown other 4-5” soft swim baits on it with great success. 4/5 of my 7# fish came on a glass rod/soft swim bait/and belly weighted swim bait hook. I just make sure to stick them extra hard.

I love everything you do but I have awful luck with Baitcasters. Now I feel behind everything because I can't seem to get Baitcast. 🤷♂️

I’m a self admitted gear guy, I have way too many rods. My wife doesn’t even say anything anymore, just gives me the look. I didn’t realize how much gear I had until I started filming my own content and saw from a different perspective how ridiculous I look sometimes..
I'm in the past of the process where I have 4 rods and my wife says, you only need one. 😮 she don't know about the metanium I have lined up on Market place. I told her, I'm not even half way there. She spends 200 on haircuts. At least I can have these forever. At what point did yours stop even asking or caring.

Been watching your videos for almost a year now.. Trusted you on the baits and techniques and they paid off in a big way for me, so I just ordered my first MF rod. I have a decent crank collection now (mostly shallow square bills) and I went with the new 4pc 7'2.
Do you(if you read these) or anyone have a recommendation for a reel that is in the $100 or less range that is accommodating to this pole and my intended use? I am new at baitcasting and my success was...mixed with the $89 abu Garcia combo i bought last summer. I have no idea what I'm doing trying to calibrate it. She's like my wife, if I don't do everything perfectly, she makes my entire day shitty and I just want to throw her into the lake.

I’ve had good luck with the bass pro shops pro qualifier 2. It’s made by lews and has their better brake systems that come on the $150 and up reels for less than 100 bucks. I got my last couple on sale for 89 dollars. Hard to beat for the money.
@@MillikenFishing if I can bump it up into the 200ish range what would be a better reel to go well with the 7'2 4pc MFer? Gonna be doing mostly square bills: crush 50/100, minimag, swanks, etc. I also got a bunch of wake baits and hybrid cranks. I may even throw my mag sb shad sense when the stripers start runnin up the Hudson in a couple months

What has been your experience with copolymer? I'm completely new to fishing (outside of Shakespeare combos with the pre-spooled line when I was a kid) and it seems to be a good middle ground between flouro and braid

Man you got me all stocked up on 6thsense baits now, but I got all spinning rods. Pretty outdated.. 20lb spiderwire on all of it. Would your spinning rod throw the whale, flush, prawn, striker craw, clout, & the shakey worm? One of these days I'll learn a baitcaster.. Lol
Rods are personal preference, but every rod and reel has a purpose for every angler that’s going for their target species!

Ben, question. I got a northern pike trip in Canada this summer. Hauling rods is a problem and they don’t want anything over 7’. I don’t want to ship rods cause I need them at home for my fishing. I saw your new 4 piece that just came out. Do you think it will handle some Canadian Pike?

I fish rivers and creeks mostly and The best rod I have ever used is my 5ft 10in med fast cadence CR7 rod and by god its a beast. I feel the opposite about the whole leverage thing when talking about setting the hook or picking up line with the rod. Physics tell us that the shorter rod gives you that faster response but also I skip with alot and I am more about accuracy than distance when it comes to casting because I promise you the 5ft 10in to 6ft rods do a dent job of casting distance as long as you have good line athe key is your reel, which I use the Cadence CS10 and I will put it up against any other spinning reel on the market regardless of price. So guys you don't have to use 7ft or longer rods unless they are technique specific like vertical jigging, just saying.

I have the 7’5 frog rod and the 7’2 med hvy moderate fast rod. My next one is the 7’9 swim bait rod I also want to pick up the two new 4 piece rods as well. I love using the MFer spinning rod. Tough spinning rod but works well with most any baits I throw.
