Where I live in the mountains in East Tennessee, we got trout eaters, I love a Huddleston and let it hit bottom and roll is painfully slow just ticking the bottom, especially after they have stocked the lake, it always catches my biggest bass of the year
A friend won’t entertain the idea of artificial baits. I’ve always wanted that challenge. Consequently, we don’t fish together anymore, his boat, my loss. Love your show, wish for youthful energy to get my own boat and learn to love the solitude.
Jerkbait is definitely my favorite winter bait! To get em deeper I simply go to six pound test line. Yes, I will lose some on a rare occasion, but I get many more bites. An A-RIG is also a good choice herein NC, just get it into schools of shad and it’s pretty much a guarantee. Keep the videos coming. 👍🏻🎣
Thx Ben. I’ll try the heavier line. Been fishing Ky Lake and Barkley with 8 and 10 lb floro on spinning rod with decent results but I’ll try the heavier line in deeper water around cover. Thx again. Ur the Best channel on UA-cam.
Watched the whole information laden video just to see if the "Ozzie" was gonna be available. Just caught up on my tube watching today. Been busy fishing non-stop in N. TEXAS. Great stuff as usual. Ozzie is the Hammer.
Hell yeah Brutha! LFG Ben, Slaw, and Mfers 💥🎣👊🏻. Super jacked....my son starting soccer ⚽ varsity, and then it's time to Rip Some Fckn Lips 🎣 in the SETX Bass tourneys!!
I’m same way my friend I miss my southern lakes but I’ve moved up here next to ky lake . I’ll be glad when we remove more Asian carp and it will get better ! Had a good day last week on my blade bait! Good fishing and stay warm
Catch lots of Bass here In super clear deep ass cali lakes. Got to be light spoons in 60 to 90 ft. They are actually trout baits. Panther Martin's. Like that sweat shirt homie. Thanks for mentioning Aaron he's a Cali legend.
I'm still fishing Champlain. Most ramps and surrounding areas are locked up with ice, but when there's a will there's a way. With a spud, some salt, and a shovel, many things are possible, and the main, deep part of the lake was 44.6 degrees yesterday, which means 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Yes, continue with these kind of educational videos, ... a couple of items not talked about or I missed it, ... was leader length and drag settings. I have been using 12 # mono for leader ( 3-6 foot ), have found out the hard way that Floro seems to get stressed with use and breaks, and I set my Kastking Demon spinning reels to 2.5 #'s of drag. I also have been experimenting with the sinking braids. Sunline almight so far, ... found out after breaking off fish that I had to bump up their poundage to the 22 # line. Looking at the flourescent Lunkerhut sinking braid next. Any thoughts. TYVM
Heavier line on jerk baits seems to keep the bait more stream line. Like it's trying to get away faster from other fish, just my thought. But it's harder to get them down to the desired depth.
Only thing I haven't done well enough to what you have just shown, is tying the FC leader to the braid, my knot seams to have a detrimental affect on my casting distance. What knot are you using or can you show us or do you slready have it hosted? I enjoy you vids Thanks for them.
Hey Ben, there is a distinct lack of "huge" modern jerkbaits on the market. The few that are out there are pricey or harder to get. 150-170mm or so. Might be something for 6th sense to get on for the gizzard chasers!
I hit the ponds near me yesterday with the water is the 40s. I threw everything I had at them yesterday and I couldn't even get a bite. It is similar to other years but I wish I could figure out where they go when its cold and what could make them bite. Any thoughts for a bluegill / crappie pond that's less then 8ft to try next time? Love the content! Hope to see you at the classic but if you are fishing the final day I will understand if I don't run into you!🙂
Well you have to be a good fisherman to have a favorite cold water bait. I usually only fish catfish and crappie in winter noodle for cat and jig for crappie
compact finesse jig or like you structure/hybrid jig slowly dragged along the bottom. I know you're a six sense guy, but it's hard to beat the zoom z-craw as winter jig trailers
You’re the damn man son ! Thanks for all the advise… ohh yea still love the damn zark outro 😜 he’s a damn boss. He’s definitely better than Taylor swift!! 😆
New subscriber. You said something about jerk baits that made me think. I think someone else mentioned this also but, using a heavier leader gives you more control of the bait. I downsized to an 8 lb leader this year and don't seem to be getting the jerk bait bites I used to. I know there are a lot of factors but, could a heavier, maybe 12 lb leader actually make a difference? Thanks
I’ve definitely had hits on the 15-20 second pause. Especially in rivers. Take your phone out to text zark, light a smoke or crack a beer and slug it. Next thing ya know tink! Ya just never know if you aren’t using ffs.
Thanks for the analysis! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Hey man thank you so much for the tips, i struggle really bad in the winter pretty bad sometimes here in Little Rock Arkansas, so any tips are very much appreciated. Lol. But the hybrid jig had been my favorite jig for a while. I remember when you and Josh use to call them inbred jigs. Lmao 😂, you should hook up with josh again for a couple of videos though. I really think everyone would love to see that in my opinion bud. But anyway i went and did a few of my jigs like you was saying and i caught 2 nice little 2 pounders in about 45 minutes. Which is a lot better than no fish in 2 or 3 hours like i have been getting the past week. But i have not got much confidence in the jerkbait so i wanna try using it more. But thanks for everything man. Been a MFer for about 6 or 7 years now man.
Definitely burning deep crank has worked on tough days for me in the coldest! Does the modified draw work better in winter or straight out the package Ben? Thanks love the vids. Rip some lips boys!
In the winter they SEARCH slowly but since they’re opportunistic predators they hunt quickly once they have a target, still get clobbered in 35 degrees
How about some videos for people who don’t have FFS? I live in SW Alabama and we don’t really have shell bars like G’ville, and the only significant grass is in brackish waters, everything else is just Tons of wood cover. All I have is SI/DI.
Dude this does NOT apply to cold water- winter upstate ny smallmouth. If you THINK they don’t ball up on eachother agasint rock and wait out the cold days- your wrong they do they lay completely dormant some of them. Maybe in 50degree or mid to upper 40s but no way in heck 35 degree temps. Like you said , under the ice a lot of cold water fish are moving, perch walleye crappie all seem to be active in cold water, I catch 100s of walleyes a day in 35 degree temps in cold rocky skinny river, the bass will eat , sure, IF you soak a bottom bait/ned/ drop shot in front of their face for 5 minutes they might come n pick it up. You wouldn’t know that without sonar tho. Or if you know where they winter maybe you can drag a Ned into them. But it’s no numbers game, maybe catch 1-2 on any given day but that might be any given week or weeks up here in NY. But yeah sure, walleye, perch , crappie, pike , trout…still active under ice, bass.. not so much
LOL. My cold weather fishing is going to my freezer with 11 quart bags of Bluegill fillets. Just not a cold weather fisherman. Love watching ice fishing etc.Not for me.

BOY BEN -YOU HIT THIS VIDEO RIGHT ON THE NAIL., WHAT A GREAT VIDEO TO LEARN BY,
My favorite winter presentation is...sitting my ass in the house and eating snacks whilst watching youtube vids.
Haha don’t hate that
I came here to say the same thing. Well done sir.

Hard to catch fish sitting on the couch🎉

Fantastic presentation, love the format.

Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Really appreciate the advice, now off to the lake to put it to use !!🤘🤘
Good stuff - thanks. Late winter river fishing 40-45° always have a 1/8 oz black marabou jig rigged.
Hell yeah Brutha! LFG Ben, Slaw, and Mfers 💥🎣👊🏻. Super jacked....my son starting soccer ⚽ varsity, and then it's time to Rip Some Fckn Lips 🎣 in the SETX Bass tourneys!!

Lipless jerkbait jig and dropshot. AZ urban mostly. Great content as usual. Thank you!
Great call
Great video!! I would have to add the a-rig to the list and then she's perfect
Keep this info going! We appreciate it. Merry Christmas 🎣
Thank you!
Growing up fishing in Mississippi and Louisiana we catch bass all year round. I've actually found their more likely to eat in cold weather than hot
True story. I also live in Louisiana and we can catch bass all year round
I’m same way my friend I miss my southern lakes but I’ve moved up here next to ky lake . I’ll be glad when we remove more Asian carp and it will get better ! Had a good day last week on my blade bait! Good fishing and stay warm

Great info, keep slaying! 👊

Good stuff Ben
Thanks!
Ben great break down. I live in Kansas last Monday and Friday i went fishing 🎣 water temperature was 40 to 41 never got a bite.

Good call. Spoons are very safe in the winter for deep fish like that 👍
Great video!

Ole jig n pig! Winter money in texas..Thanks for th video..I'll try what your doin here! That's th fun of it!
30°- 40° water i like deep diving crank baits on deep Rocky points . Bouncing it off the bottom .

I use mainly a crank bait, jerk bait, line thru swim bait.
I hit the ponds near me yesterday with the water is the 40s. I threw everything I had at them yesterday and I couldn't even get a bite. I’d start with a jerk bait and maybe a lipless
Thanks for the comprehensive vid. but forgot one of the best Winter baits of all time...the Blade.
Well you have to be a good fisherman to have a favorite cold water bait. I usually only fish catfish and crappie in winter noodle for cat and jig for crappie
Shout out Bass After Dark
So does taking the clip of the blade help with sound or action?
Great video
Thank you!
Going to try it on the kayak this week. I won’t be able to hit those wind blown banks though lol 😂
Dude awesome video but what is that trailer on that jig at 18 minutes in
compact finesse jig or like you structure/hybrid jig slowly dragged along the bottom. I know you're a six sense guy, but it's hard to beat the zoom z-craw as winter jig trailers
in new jersey the bladebait and small jigs work throw in a 3in grub
Always safe!
Love it.
Thanks dude
What diameter lead wire do you use and what knot did you tie on the jig?
I use the only size from 6th sense they have…and I use San Diego jam on the jig
You’re the damn man son ! Thanks for all the advise… ohh yea still love the damn zark outro 😜 he’s a damn boss. He’s definitely better than Taylor swift!! 😆
Thank you!
Buenos dias and a lot of gracias Mr Ben
I have "THE ZARK" and the 7'4 spinning. If I get the 6'10 jerkbait rod can I throw squarebills on it?
i love the tips keep it up

Probably not. I just always use as heavy of line as possible, and the heavier line gives a more controlled feeling.
Do you ever throw the 6th Sense blade bait? I kill em on blades in the winter.
Spot on
Thanks dude
Ben, enjoy your channel. Would you do anything different for winter fishing on herring lakes like Murray in SC?
What kinda trailer was that on the full size 3/4 jig?
What jerk bait do you recommend for 3 to 8 foot and maybe 45° water temps?
6th sense provoke 106x in Milliken’s Ghost
@ thanks Ben🤙🏻
I see those Deps on the deck 😂
What matters most is the humidity in the water😂
Definitely needs to be wet

I need the finesse a rig already with those live shad blades. I got money to make 😂
Haha for sure!
Learned a lot
Live fallfish 5-7". Slip bobber 17-22' around schools of crappie.
what's glide bait is that?

Absolutely! I just don’t fish them much anymore since I can’t in the elite series

What glide bait is that
Struggling to present anything to these deep bass and stripers in the lakes around me, talking 60-100+ ft deep blasting around on bait. Any tips?
Size 9 jigging rap 👍🏻
Ben it would be awesome to fish with you hear in Kansas
In the winter they SEARCH slowly but since they’re opportunistic predators they hunt quickly once they have a target, still get clobbered in 35 degrees

Use the same techniques around that standing timber huge bass down there im in central north alabama
we don't have winters in Florida

Checking out. My lake is froze over hArd
That’ll happen
So your saying i should bite the lead wire off to break it. Put lead wire in my mouth. Eat lead.......? got it!!!!!😂
Be sure to swallow
A micro jig or drop shot

Always a small compact jig!
