World's Worst Fishing Yes sir great video and very informative. I’m having a little bubble trouble so tell your buddy’s at dead on plastix your Alabama buddy will be placing a Christmas order.
Yeah it was long but it didn't feel long, so much information and all solid too. I can honestly say that I don't know of a better beginners guide on you tube than this one
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Your videos give new definition to the term "Click Bait". Every time I click on one, I learn how to create a new bait!! Thanks, your content is second to none. God Bless The Jones' .
Chris, my name is Shawn, and I just watched this video, and it is my very first video, I have ever watched of yours! I watch a ton of videos, tutorials and DIY Videos, and I want to tell you , that it was HANDS DOWN, the Best, and most thorough tutorial videos I have ever watched on YOU TUBE Period! You speak well, and not too fast, and make the visitors that are watching feel at ease, and want to hear more, and you held my attention, and interest, till the very end! I was looking for a video that could teach me, ( Without having to watch a ton of BONEHEADS that have no business on here) attempting to even try to do a so called tutorial, and the 2 seconds I happen to watch of theirs, before I keep looking to find AMAZING Tutorials as yours, are them trying to rip off actual great guys, like yourself, which is totally obvious! LOL! I love the snare drum roll, on one of your molds, at the beginning of the video, by the way! Ha Ha, that was great, and another reason, I kept watching! My first love is music, from COUNTRY to ROCK , and when I’m not looking for a new hobby, or small business, I am a professional Vocalist, Drummer,(That’s why, I loved the drum roll, Lol) guitar player, song writer, and producer. So I’ve had my fair share of videos on You Tube, as well. Lately ,I have been Cowriting and singing, with my great friend, which so happens to be the Bass player for the Iconic National Country band, “LONE STAR”, as far as Country goes, and recently ( BEFORE THE BIG QUARANTINE ) I was out on a tour as Lead singer for Jake E.Lee, who, used to be the guitar player for “Ozzy Osbourne”, and Anthony Esposito bass player for “Lynch Mob”, in Jakes new band, “RED DRAGON CARTEL”. I grew up in Fairfax County Va, moved to Los Angeles Ca. For almost 30 years, and now I’m back in Fairfax Va. Back to one of my son and I’s favorite passions and sport,........ FISHING of course! Chris, I sure hope you are still reading this, and that I have kept your interest, cause I am also a sculptor and mold master, in Silicone, and resin molds and I want to design and sculpt some crazy cool soft plastic lures, that will be Amazing! In 2009, I decided to make a guitar pedal that NO ONE had ever done before! I was told by many famous guitar players, that it would never sell. Not only, did it sell, it won pedal of the year, best new product, and I won Best booth at the NAMM Music Convention. Chris, it would be a blast to collaborate, on some lures and or, if you need resin, or silicone molds made, I’d be more than honored, to help out! After watching this video, I am soooo pumped and inspired to sculpt up some CRAZY NEW LURES! Thank you for the inspiration, HAPPY FISHING!!!!

Hey Chris. Just watched this video again for the third time. Really appreciate how simple, yet informative it is!!! Starting to gather supplies bit by bit, for when I finally am able to pour my first bait(s). Thank you so very much for the tutorial session!!!!
I just made my first mold (open pour off my favorite senko shape), and should be getting in my plastisol ,glitter, and colorant in a few days. Excited to get pouring, your first video was a huge inspiration to start bait making, this one just builds on it. Thanks for taking the time to teach the art.
I forgot to properly mix my plastisol after it sat for months. I didn't clue in as to why the baits came out slightly firmer than snot until I noticed the 6 cm of solids in the bottom of the jug. Took a whole bottle of hardener to firm up the batch. A valuable lesson learned.
some of the best video`s for somebody getting started, i open pour and just wanted to let u know that to get that high gloss no need to dip into clear just run a propane torch over ur trimmed/finished baits then dip baits under cold water only for a couple seconds to "set" plastic, works great!! thanks for doing ur video`s!
Just stumbled across this in my almost nightly fishing channel surf, and MAN...great stuff! I came to the realization today that I'm dropping a fortune on my favorite plastics because those are 99% of what I use. This video opened up a lot of possibilities, but my learning curve could cost a fortune as well 😂😂
I was not sure on how to start making baits and what was involved, then I watched your video. I have to say thank you so much!!! Your video is priceless to the beginner. I now make my own baits with colors that work in my area and save money doing what I love!!! Thank You and keep the lines tight
Thank you for this video. Me and a spec ops bud of mines are trying to start a soft plastics business. This video helps out a lot. Wish you much success!
Chris, I've done a little silicone mold pouring of swimbaits, but no injection molding. Your high quality instructions and easy going manner are highly appreciated!!! I also love your pics on Facebook of your beautiful family!!!
I’m starting to get into making my own baits and this is by far the best video I’ve found on getting started you got yourself another subscriber and supporter keep doing what you’re doing.
Thank you for this video. I am currently looking to start my own business making soft plastic baits and your video has only made me more excited to do so.
My kids and I are learning about fishing, boating, and making you tube videos. Thanks for the great video I am subscribing so we can keep up and learn from your work.
I sat threw the whole video. Nice job! Very informative. I shoot some baits only for myself and some buddies to use and I’m love to learn new stuff. Try this, when you do your hand pours use the smallest Pyrex cup that you can get. Helps with controlling the flow. That works wonders for me. 👍
Bravo 👏 I just recently retired and you have shown me invaluable information on how to get started with quality and there’s no substitute for quality equipment and not everyone is willing to share their knowledge. Thank You
i have designed my own lure but need a plastic tail and cant find what i want on the market. i have an idea but wasn't sure how to do it. you have helped a great deal. im already designing and making my own open pour mold. Thanks for your info...
Your videos are awesome, I just recently found you as I research bait and lure making. I plan to keep watching to see what all you make and learn what I can.
Another awesome video Chris. Thanks for taking the time to help guys get started. It was your videos that got me off and running and I appreciate the info!
You inspired me indirectly to sell molds / lures as well! This is one area where I immediately thought we could pay off the CNC machine, it easily carves into aluminum. Design was the more difficult part but thanks to Fiverr, the drawings coming into CAD was very easy. Feeds and speeds wasnt bad. Aluminum supplier was the challenging part due to specific sizes but buying in bulk equates to whole sale pricing with near free cuts. Next step is selling internationally, mainly in North America. I think a much lower price point will equate to better sales over absurd prices I've seen everyone else selling for. Anyways, I wanted to thank you for your videos.. hopefully with the skyrocketing sales in kayak fishing and outdoor sports in general - 2021 will be a great year!
Awesome video! Learned a lot and can’t wait to start. By the way, I see you have a good ventilation set up, but as a respiratory therapist. I would still recommend using an N95. Micro particles are still being inhaled, which over time can lead to respiratory issues. Just some friendly advice.
Thanks coach, another great video, it was your first version that started me off on the path to plastics and i look forward to every new video that you produce.
Thank you for all of your videos. I have just spent the last week watching a ton of them. I am just starting out on my journey of making soft baits and your videos have helped inspire me to try. I am purchasing items that you are suggesting and where I do not see affiliate links I am putting down in the notes that I found these places through you. Thanks for sharing and please keep it up. I am looking to do Salt Water grubs and Swim Baits. I would love to see a video on that or updated beginner purchase ideas with affiliate links as it helps your channel. Deadonplastix 5 gallons was my first purchase with some colors and glitter from them and lurecraft.
Thank you for the information on and about these molds I have an idea for different mold that I believe would make a big hit in creature baits. And again thanks for your time to create as oppose to running through so cannot understand the process.
Great video. As a fisherman that's environmentally conscious, I'm looking for materials that are safe and biodegradable. Any alternatives to plastisol?
Hahaaa watching this video now is kinda funny because you are awesome at open pouring and you're like these are all I have... congratulations on how far you have come you're pours are really inspiring I enjoy your videos
Did you have to have an air vent machined into your custom CNC mold? I’m new to this and would like to have a custom design mold made. You mentioned that the air must be able to escape as the plastisol is injected.
Excellent Video, and very informative. Curious about how to get your injector Warm before you use it. The last 25% of the plastic in my injector is usually already set up when I go to pour the left over back in the cup.
Hello ... Excellent explanation. I am from Brazil and here we also make Plastisol baits, but recently I had information that they are also doing here instead of Plastisol, they are using Elastomax. Do you know this Elastomax product and know how to use it? Thanks!
Yes big time, the lure glitter is a special high temperature polyester glitter than can withstand heat. Most other craft glitters are aluminum which blow up in a microwave and bleed when hot.
Awesome vid, man! It is very helpful, so are your others. I am new to the hobby, and just ordered a mold, plastisol, some colorants and glitter. I live in Spain and we are not lucky enough to have as many related shops as you have in the U.S.A., but I will try it following your tips. Thank you and keep up this great job!
Excellent video, have you thought about adding an overhead stationary post into the microwave that would stir the plastic as the turntable rotates? Just a random thought I had... anyway thanks for the excellent info I always wondered what the injection molds looked like and how they were injected. Thanks again.
I find that my plastisol gets cool or hardens in the injector before I can totally fill the mold, any ideas why? It is at 350 when I'm sucking it into the injector. Thanks for any help, love the videos!
I need to try and get some underwater shots of all of my stuff..this bait was developed by Terry Scroggins in conjunction with the guy who actually makes the mold..the two tails have a kicking action that is really cool to see. Its not the kicking action of like a speed worm with two tails..its a little more subtle In think, the speed worm tail kinda kicks in all directions. It's hard to explain really.
Man... this reminds me... I had a toy when I was a kid called the Creepy Crawlers maker. Basically, it was a gross-out EZ Bake Oven where you'd pour some colored gunk into a metal tray and then stick the tray in an "oven" powered by some light bulbs, which would dry out the gunk and turn it into a rubbery insect looking thing. Grubs, spiders, ants, dragon flies... name the bug, they probably had a mold for it. Which kinda makes me wonder... has anyone ever tried using creepy crawlers as baits? They weren't made for fishing, and they'd probably have little to no action... you'd probably have to texas rig them or something... but I bet fish would still hit on the bright colors and insectoid shapes.
I had one of those creepy kid sets and I fished the grasshoppers lol I caught stuff as a kid and since then I've been interested in making my own baits
I just watched your video. If you buy a triple or double injector is it possible to take them apart to make them singles? Just curious for maximizing inventory. Thanks!
depending on the bait, for open pours more often, the "Flashing" actually adds to the bait in dimensions i never thought of before, like i can pinch the flashing to make small ribbon tails off the body which i'd never get before. Like for my custom worms i did, i've been getting more fish with flashing on the sides and just messing with it randomly. Gives the fish something new to look at.
Is it possible to get a tougher body with a more flexible or softer tail in a swimbait? Also, where do you get your packaging for your lures? Great video btw
For those just starting out , on limited budget , what colors and sizes of glitter would you recommend ? Same with colors .Plan on using do it molds 5" senko , ribbon tail worm , and ripper swimbaits
Fantastic. I’m in Tasmania and love fishing. I have been looking at lure making for a while, this is far the best instructions I’ve seen. Now all I need to do is start looking for local suppliers? Thank you.
Just came across your videos I was looking for rod making videos watched those and you said you make your own plastic baits so watched this.I do make my own old school style wooden poppers plastic looks interesting may try it next.
Hey buddy I got a question for you do you use warm oil when you are pouring into your molds what I’m saying is do you put the oil in with your rubber stuff when you’re heating it up to poor If you can give me some good feedback I would appreciate that thank you
Thinking about starting to make my own baits and this video really helped. Do u think you could give me a material list for everything I need to get started so I make sure I’ve got everything? It would really help
Found your channel about a week ago. Thanks for all the good videos you make for us. Wanting to get started with plastics soon. I know it depends on the size mold but do you know about how many baits 5 gallons make?
Back when I started I used to count all of that stuff..I would get about 20-25 baits per measuring cup..if it were frogs then I'd get less. Start with a set amount of plastic and see how many you get, then do the math and get your estimate.
Be sure to check the description for tons of links!!

I am new to the hobby, and just ordered a mold, plastisol, some colorants and glitter. I live in Spain and we are not lucky enough to have as many related shops as you have in the U.S.A., but I will try it following your tips.
Thank you and keep up this great job!
welcome to plastics!! thanks for watching
Excellent video, have you thought about adding an overhead stationary post into the microwave that would stir the plastic as the turntable rotates? Just a random thought I had... anyway thanks for the excellent info I always wondered what the injection molds looked like and how they were injected. Thanks again.
never thought of that..some guys use cooking pots with electric stirrers if you are doing large volume.
I find that my plastisol gets cool or hardens in the injector before I can totally fill the mold, any ideas why? It is at 350 when I'm sucking it into the injector. Thanks for any help, love the videos!
What is the action on the coral snake worm? I've never seen anything like that
I need to try and get some underwater shots of all of my stuff..this bait was developed by Terry Scroggins in conjunction with the guy who actually makes the mold..the two tails have a kicking action that is really cool to see.
@Henry Warren Thanks for your snotty response.
Learn how to tell one.
I had one of those creepy kid sets and I fished the grasshoppers lol I caught stuff as a kid and since then I've been interested in making my own baits
Thanks for bringing this up gave me good memories I forgot about
I just watched your video.
So jealous of that yuengling... Nebraska veteran and I drank the hell out of that beer whenever I could get it!
Love it bro! Most fulfilling video I have seen in a while!
Hey buddy I got a question for you do you use warm oil when you are pouring into your molds what I’m saying is do you put the oil in with your rubber stuff when you’re heating it up to poor If you can give me some good feedback I would appreciate that thank you
Great info on how to make soft lures, How do I order your lures and can I special order my colors?
Great video!! What is the difference in quality/ingredients of freshwater plastics vs saltwater plastics?
Can you do panfish tubes?
also where do you get your molds?
Thinking about starting to make my own baits and this video really helped. Do u think you could give me a material list for everything I need to get started so I make sure I’ve got everything? It would really help
great information I'm just starting and hope to grow a business ! your tips will help me get there!

Hey so am I wanna support each other, our insta is offthehooklure
Found your channel about a week ago. Thanks for all the good videos you make for us. Wanting to get started with plastics soon. I know it depends on the size mold but do you know about how many baits 5 gallons make?
Back when I started I used to count all of that stuff..I would get about 20-25 baits per measuring cup..if it were frogs then I'd get less. Start with a set amount of plastic and see how many you get, then do the math and get your estimate.
New to bait making, question what is a good double injectors set?
thanks for helping new folks get started. has there been any upgrades to the companies you linked
great video .... thanks... plus love the Yuengling since I am in PA!!
