Wow!! I gotta admit, I had my doubts about the Shelby. Especially against an AWD and a lighter car. But holy hell, that back straight just showcased the difference in power…NO match! (And that braking too…just wow!). Amazing car that Shelby! 👍🏼
I liked the concept but putting a car with 250hp less to race with worse tyres is not understandable to me. Great showing for the M4 though with so much power down and not Cup2:s.
I don't understand how comparing a car to one that cost $20,000 more makes any sense ... they should have compared the Shelby to a BMW that cost $20,000 less. :P The Cup2's wouldn't help the M4 a whole lot because its AWD and already putting all the power down. A slight improvement in braking - probably not enough though. Put 'all seasons' on the Shelby though, and the M4 takes it, but why would someone do that? It makes sense to race them in their original format, as-is. That said I really thought the M4 would win, kinda surprised.
@@WaspMedia3D The Cup2:s help massively also on a awd. You can break later into the corner and the front feels much more stable. And its quicker out of the corner.
@@peterhammer4644 Yeah but the braking will be like 0.5 seconds later. There are laws of physics that need to be respected. I agree they would make a difference, but it wouldn't be earth shattering on that particular course, on that particular car, with that particular power output. Besides, comparing vehicles as sold is 100% valid. Its just a fun race, no need to take it seriously and start imagining "what if" scenarios, that might change the outcome. It's kinda silly.
@@WaspMedia3D I agree comparing cars as they are sold is generally a good idea. I drove several years with Cup2:s in my E92 M3 and its a very two sided compound. On a 4 km track several seconds faster as a PS4S but on a rainy day its not fun. Even when its moist don't like it. Nowadays I rather have PS4S in my daily (Taycan 4S).
@@WaspMedia3D Forget about price as that doesn't change drag times - what does change drag times is the enormous power difference - the fact the M4 was able to offset that huge difference at all for longer than a couple seconds, with mainly just traction is amazing in itself. Now I understand your argument about price but it has to be considered that the power isn't the only thing cars are priced on of course .. but it's the only thing being tested here really. So price aside, the GT500 is the top end of Mustang but the M4 isn't the top end... apples for apples in class and power is interesting to me... less so price... one is a great driving composed controllable powerful track car.. the other is a slightly over the top (but sure, still great) monster powerhouse.
Continue to love this channel and race format. Very cool concept. I’m a mustang junkie, so I’m extra enjoying the footage. Plenty of cars will beat the GT500, but the question is at what cost! The M4, obviously a finely tuned machine, all the creature comforts you could ask for, but it’s $20k more and gets roasted by American muscle. The performance value of the 500 is off the charts. Looking forward to the next video.
Until you head out and actually see what GT500's are actually selling for. Even before the pandemic price increases, they were almost never selling anywhere near MSRP. The M4 could also be more reasonably spec'd out for 20k less than this tester.
Get ready for the excuses in the comments and the falts of Ford and its Mustang. My favorite is the manufacturer's price. What car isn't selling over the sticker price that's highly in demand? Used Cars a selling over too! Miss me with that bullish. They just can't handle the fact of, being beaten by an American sports car, with a car rent pedigree that's overweight. And it is highly in demand.
@ Randy Smith are you trying to tell me that you pull on a 992 turbo S on a roll with a stock gt500??? Dude there are videos on you tube with these cars. Never seen the Shelby win stock or close to stock against that car. Maybe older generation but not the present one.
Everyone was surprised, is it possible that a car with 760 horses is faster than a car with 503😂 Remap the M4 to similar horsepower do it again in 2 wheel drive. Then you are allowed to do the “American muscle baby” shouting if the result is the same😉
M4 has cheaper MSRP. Leave ceramic breaks on the shelf and it is under 88K with all the options including fancy uncomfortable seats. My build would be 80-84K. And it includes free maintenance. Bare minimum GT500 is 85K. Add track pack (it is a track car!) and it is 101K. Also, M4 did impressively well, given 250+ horsepower disadvantage and more versatile function. If it were not so ugly and could tow my motorcycle...
I wonder why the bmw brakelights dont flicker when hes doing a hard braking, or they didnt brake hard enough? Also bmws street tires against the cup tires is a hard battle for itself ^^
Because it was going to lose anyway. After the quarter-mile, it's over for the BMW. If that Mustang isn't standing still, watch out. Everyone praises it on its top end.
The 911 Turbo S will lay waste to the GT500, they aren't even in the same league (nor should they be considering the 911 is more than twice as expensive). 911 Turbo S does 0-60 MPH in 2.1 secs and the quarter mile in 9.9 secs, compared to 3.4 secs and 11.3 secs for the GT500.

If you can get a hold of a 911 GT3, that would be a solid match for the shelby. Porsche would probably take it in launch, braking, and cornering.......but the roll race 1/4 is all shelby. It would be pretty fun to watch.
well first of all the gt500 barely beat the m4 here. in secodn race. the gt3 is also quicker than the m4 in a roll, since power is equal but gt3 is 7-800 lbs lighter. gt3 would easily win.
@@mainlymusicman blah blah, it would still be fun to watch. That’s the point. To see how the weight and power difference plays out in real time with unprofessional drivers.
You guys should try a C7 Z06 next time. I truly do wonder what the result will be.
Vs the GT500

I really enjoyed that drag race with a loop back to the beginning!
This is the new true performance standard! Absolutely a stroke of genius!
I hate it when Americans line up the weaker versions of the European cars against their baddest then act soo surprised when their cars win i mean come on
True!
cope. the m4 and Shelby are relatively similar in price. Ford doesn't make anything as expensive as an m5cs so its not possible to compare BMW's best with Ford's
This is absolutely brilliant! It should be a standard of performance at the drag strips to sort out the pure drag cars from the pure handlers that are not as quick in a straight line! It’s fantastic as you can get a great visual angle on how they also lean into and go around corners from the drone camera!
Keep doing more of them, keep up the good work with more VBOX data displayed!
You are on a winner! Just put new tyres on the GT500 so it wins for as long as possible, because those tyres wheel spin too much and are shagged! Cheers. 😃😃😃
This type of testing should be standard rather than just 1/4 mile drag races.
I’m really enjoying this u-drags format! Put a Mach 1 up vs. the M4!
Why?
More of these. Very cool
Would love to see the CT5-V vs the M4!
This track favors the car with the greater power every single time.
You’re comparing a car with a 503 horsepower twin turbo inline-6 to a car with a 760 horsepower supercharged v8. What did you expect???
It's not about the power it's about who's behind that wheel
Any hp rating from BMW is a blatant lie!!
Keep doing these UDrag races! These are great! I think for the next race, you should put the GT500 against a Corvette C8.
people forgot 503hp vs 760hp xD
Wonder if the outcome would be different if the M4 were on cup 2's with a little bit more negative camber...???
Wow!! I gotta admit, I had my doubts about the Shelby. Especially against an AWD and a lighter car. But holy hell, that back straight just showcased the difference in power…NO match! (And that braking too…just wow!). Amazing car that Shelby! 👍🏼
4100 vs 3800 300lbs difference
@@chriskarsseboom2200 And it still loss with all-wheel drive.

Make it happen guys! These races are amazing, keep up the great work.
If it beats a c8 vette it will destroy a camaro
Camaro ZL1 A10 vs Mustang GT500…
🏁🏁Great concept …U Drag 😎🤙🏾
Put both cars with same HP and torque, and we will have a good match, but almost 300hp less and torque, is not fair
Love the U Drags! Keep em coming. M8 vs Shelby would be a nice one 👍🏼
Not a chance the fat m8 would perform better than the M4
Have you seen their recent match between the M8 and the Shelby
I liked the concept but putting a car with 250hp less to race with worse tyres is not understandable to me. Great showing for the M4 though with so much power down and not Cup2:s.
I don't understand how comparing a car to one that cost $20,000 more makes any sense ... they should have compared the Shelby to a BMW that cost $20,000 less. :P
The Cup2's wouldn't help the M4 a whole lot because its AWD and already putting all the power down.
Lol a remaped.low 600hp would eat gt 500 all day =))
@@qwertyqwerty-zi6dr
Ya, and it’ll only cost you 40k more. No thanks. American V8’s top Euro trash all day.

This by far is the coolest way to compare cars to me.
Interesting race concept! That M4 off the line is insane and that Shelby is wild at top end muscling! Bring the 911 Turbo or M5 CS?
@ Absolut Sabs
911 turbo lol the Shelby has absolutely no chance
@@caribbeanseas really 😉 I have raced some dig all day got my ass handed to me but 911 roll racing I killed him
@ Randy Smith are you trying to tell me that you pull on a 992 turbo S on a roll with a stock gt500???
Dude there are videos on you tube with these cars. Never seen the Shelby win stock or close to stock against that car. Maybe older generation but not the present one.
@@caribbeanseas well close to stock is 800 whp . But doese it look stock to u .
Wow huge HP difference but the M4 has an amazing launch. Fresh race as well with the U-Turn!!
Yah, 200+ more hp and only wins by a tenth of a second. M4 should have gotten more praise here.
the drivers were trash at launching the stang. Takes skill and you have to get used to it to launch it properly haha
AWD will always be faster around turns. BMW is lighter then a Mustang.
@@steffen6982 AWD will always launch quicker than a RWD .doesn’t matter the driver…clown
huge $$$$ difference too. Shelby should get more credit there for beating the snot out of an overpriced German paperweight. Am I right?
Next up for the GT500, the Porsche 911 Turbo S.
@ Robby Seay
What’s the point??? The Shelby is going to get absolutely raped.
@@caribbeanseas There's only one way to know for sure. Thought the Shelby would lose the two times before.
Everyone was surprised, is it possible that a car with 760 horses is faster than a car with 503😂
Remap the M4 to similar horsepower do it again in 2 wheel drive.
Really nice race! Would love to see the Shelby go against the M5cs or M8 competition
This should be a track event 🙌💥
I wish I could afFORD one of those. They look so agressive and have so much power. Then again, would I kill myself driving one?
I wonder why the bmw brakelights dont flicker when hes doing a hard braking, or they didnt brake hard enough? Also bmws street tires against the cup tires is a hard battle for itself ^^
I'm not sure if you are doing a 1/4 mile length, but I would really like to see half mile u turn races.
Wait, a car with 50% more horsepower won? Amazing!
Both drivers slam the M4 brakes going into the turn vs the Shelby...why???
So they don't continue straight into the grass...
Because it was going to lose anyway. After the quarter-mile, it's over for the BMW. If that Mustang isn't standing still, watch out. Everyone praises it on its top end.
Do the 911 Turbo S next! That'll give the gt500 a gooood run for its money. Thanks!
Unfair comparison because the Turbo S is rear engine configuration with AWD. Not a chance in a like this. However, it's very close in a roll race.
You don't need the 911 Turbo S, the 911 Turbo will demolish it as well
Your right Jamie! Lol
does the cars have warmed tires in the first race?
Next time compare it with same tires. Cup2s r like a Glue and u can see it on u turn
