*Alys* *Rivers* is not a ghost like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense or a hallucination like recently Jeffrey Dean Morgan in The Boys S4 after rewatching every scene with her. But nobody except Daemon interacts with her. She only has spoken to Daemon.
The proof she isn’t his hallucination is because in the most recent episode, Simon Strong does look at her and even turns his head. And when you first see her in Ep. 3, a background character does glance at her for a split second. But it is weird how nobody ever says a word to her and she only talks to Daemon.
Episode 5 isn’t that bad. Viewers were at least introduced to Jeyne Arryn and Alyssa Targaryen. Daemon threatening the Brackens was hilarious. But it didn’t move the story forward. It felt more like a “take a breather” episode. I expect Ep. 6 will be dragonseeds, Ep. 7 will be Battle of Gullet (another expensive episode), and Ep. 8 will be the Fall of King’s Landing.
GrayArea (MJ) has already covered Daemon becoming a greenseer a couple weeks ago.
Daemon was suspicious of the food when he first came to Harrenhal but didn’t think twice about drinking from a witch. SMH. If anyone would poison him it’ll be the witch.

Alys Rivers is a bastard of House Strong & House Blackwood. She is the ancestor of Bryden Rivers (Three Eyed Raven), his maternal line. She's basically how Brynden becomes so gifted in the ways of magic and sorcery. Her first men blood combined with his Valyrian dragon blood. Pretty exciting to see all of this get established. Bryden will be a huge POV character as we get into 1st Blackfyre Rebellion.
The sad thing is, given how anticlimatic "the long night" was on season 8, all this prophecy stuff that used to be cool just got severely diminished knowing what will actually happen. Like, all this for centuries just to prepare for a single night. You could argue that "well it worked" and sure, but it made for a boring resolution

When Visery and Rhaenyra this season reminded us of the prophecy I laughed knowing it didn't matter at all in the end of the day because Arya killed the Night King. All this prophecy stuff about the Targaryen king's role in history, the song of Ice and Fire, it all went down the drain. Years later I still cannot find a good reason for them to let Arya kill the Night King, with a dagger passed from Targaryen king to the next Targaryen king. Jon was litteraly Ice and Fire, the Prince that was promised since he was ressurected, and the targaryen heir to the Iron Throne. And it didn't matter at all.

if you know the books Daemon and his dragon Caraxes is going to kill the second biggest dragon of all time Vhragar and Aemond in a death dive where they all die together in a massive battle. the "witch of harrenhall also said to Daemon that we are nothing but pawns, and i play a part in it too" meant that she was meant to keep daemon and his dragon in harrenhall before Aemond and Vhragar arrives in three days. when Aemond/vhragar and his army try to conquer the citadel we are going to loose 2 major figures in the story and 2 dragons. probably the last episode

Oh Alys is absolutely steering Daemon's visions. I find it amazing that he keeps drinking that potion she keeps giving him. Here's hoping that one of these visions will get him off his butt and back into the fight.

It sucks because knowing how the long night turns out really ruins the integrity of the shows and takes away it’s substance. All these huge decisions being made on something that ends up being so disappointing.

And btw Brynden’s mother is Melissa Blackwood, a house living in Riverlands but having a strong connection with the North and First Men since they also worship the Old Gods

More and more I find myself wanting to read the original series but I keep putting it off because I don’t want to forget everything before the last two books release in the far distant future.

Alys was probably goading Daemon and Aemond to kill each others dragons to prevent dragons from crossing the Wall so white walkers were stuck on their side of the wall
Dunno about that, she has a relationship or gets married to Aemond I think so she’s definitely team green.
The big question is - is Alys trying to hurt Daemon, or help him? Either way, it seems she is manipulating him for some reason - that maybe she alone knows. However, it does seem important that he is a Targaryen. In canon, Alys has a relationship with Aemond, but in the show, it could be with Daemon. Given that it seems Nettles will be replaced by Rhaena, this leaves Aemond free to be the villain, whilst Daemon can connect with at least one of his daughters, and then perhaps go on to fulfil some 'other' purpose. Remember, his body was apparently not recovered after the battle above the God's Eye. Given that Alys may be able to see the future, she knows what outcome she is aiming for - so what we are currently watching, is her trying to achieve that outcome.
Alys Rivers probably made Daemon think he was seeing his mom, but actually it was her that he was sleeping with. She’s been manipulating him from the moment he got to Harrenhal. I thought Daemon seemed surprised that it was his mom all along when she said she was his mother. He looked horrified.

I’m still in the mind that they are retconning some of the GoT series and laying stronger foundation for the other spin offs like the long night/blood moon and the Jon snow series
I don't see why you regard Jon Snow as being "obsessed with who his mother was". How could it not be something he asks Ned about? It seems a very natural thing to wonder if you don't know and your whole life has been affected by it.
In the next part, the daemon will see himself on the throne in his nightmare, argue with himself, and as a result, he will realize that he is not worthy of the throne. (So the rumors are like this)
He will probably have more visions as long as he's at harrenhal. And he's still going to be there for at least part of episode 6.

The Targaryens naming their sons Aegon is nothing out of the ordinary. France had 18 kings named Louis. This is what dynasties do. They name their kids after great ancestors.
I only watched Game of Thrones last year, but once I started watching, I couldn’t stop.
so I obviously wanted to watch house of Dragons but I must admit it’s very hard for me to follow.
I’m glad I have these videos to watch because I wouldn’t have a clue what was happening otherwise never read any of the books.
I’m not giving up, I love it regardless if I struggle to know who is who.
I have viewed Alys the witch very differently, much more sinisterly. I’ve thought she’s been manipulating Daemon to want to fight for his own right to be king, to fight even against his wife. I have been thinking that Alys is tempting him with his deeper desires, giving him dreams to strengthen and awaken those desires. I’ve assumed Alys has wanted to accompany Daemon as his power grows so that she could ride his coattails and increase her powers (whatever form that would be).
It’s weird to watch this video and see a different way to view her - that Alys is trying to help Daemon confront his selfish desires and turn him into a better man. I just don’t feel it.

That's not was not Shade of the Evening Alys gave Deamon. She's a woods witch that worships the Old Gods. It was Weirwood paste. It's white and red sap that comes from mashing up the bark of the Weirwoods. It looks like blood when it's fully illuminated. If you noticed when Deamond awakes from his Weirwood dreams, he has "blood" on him. It's not blood. It's Weirwood paste. The Children gave Bran Weirwood paste in Blood Raven's cave to enhance his abilities before he tapped into the Weirwood "network". The Shade of the Evening is blue and It's what the Warlocks drank to tap into their "powers" in Qarth. If the Shade of the Evening is abused the addict will develop blue lips. Hence the Warlocks have blue lips and mouths.
I still think in Game of Thrones the Night King looks like Bran. I know that sounds crazy but if you really look closely it’s looks like him almost as if he could’ve been him from the future.
It's not crazy it's just dumb tbh. The night king in the show is a first man, thousands of years old. It's like we all watched different shows sometimes.

It’s about to go down next season
“The prince that was promised” is a big part of the show but it never hits the way it should. If GOT had a satisfying ending, house of dragon would have been elevated. Getting the final two seasons remade (possibly expanded) seems unlikely. But i am sure we will get a fresh remake at some point. And i hope they are able to rectify mistakes done by D&D.
Also, the Riverlords said clearly that the eyes of the Old Gods and the new look down upon Harrenhal.. Daemons visions may be brought to him by the Old Gods, but they are filled with images of the new Gods. Father, Mother, Maiden etc.
This would be somewhat cool if they gave us book accurate Bloodraven, ONE-eyed and all, just a reminder that this all leads to GOT S8, for continuity Branden Rivers will have both eyes in the Dunk & Egg series...

I was just thinking after hearing so much about the 3-eyed raven, it would be mind-blowing if in the end of the show we see that we were seeing everything Bran or the 3-eyed raven were seeing. That's why it seems like the show is adding stuff but we still see what exactly happened.

I’m sure dragon dreams are just a form of greensears. Helaena, Darby’s, Aegon and now daemon. Brynden rivers. I think the weirwoods just amplify the powers since they are known to be able to see through any and every weirwood. Also almond has the cats paw dagger so I think he will learn about the song of ice and fire prophecy with alys rivers down the line.

I thought the dreams were all leading too the last dream when the King asked if still wanted the crown. Every dream was Daemon trying to do the right thing so he doesn’t lose his position as heir. And as it turns out he really does not want the burden.

It’s pretty obvious why Alys is “obsessed” with Daemon. She is a seer and has seen that the “Prince that was promised” descends from Daemon’s son Aegon. She needs to make sure that happens

I have a feeling that Alys Rivers is a ghost or vision, she literally dissapeared behind the one guy when he came into the room to talk to Daemon. I hope its not a spoiler, i havent read the books. But im almost positive she "isn't really there"
Daemon’s descendant with Rhaenyra is Jon Snow afterall! That explains why the witch had her interest in Daemon!
In a way, the Dance of the Dragons needed to happen. Even had Rhaenyra ascended to the Iron Throne without challenge, and she managed to rule the Seven Kingdoms peacefully for decades, with Jace succeeding her to the Iron Throne and keeping the realm at peace for another generation. How long before the Targaryens put a bad monarch on the Iron Throne who would have plunged the realm into anarchy? Because we know that from the history of the Targaryen dynasty, it only takes one bad ruler to destabilize the realm and undo the hard work of their predecessors. The realm was lucky that by the time the Dance kicked off, it had enjoyed a peace for 78 years, as it had been ruled by two capable and even tempered kings. However, for every Jaehaerys I and Viserys I, there will always be a Maegor the Cruel, Aegon IV and Aerys II. Had the Dance been avoided in 129 AC, its possible that somewhere down the road, the Targaryens could have faced a more devastating succession crisis, as there could have been more dragons and more Targaryens in the equation. Ultimately the dragons had to go extinct, and the house of the dragon needed to be decimated so that the Prince that was Promised could be born and be ready to fight the Long Night with a new generation of dragons.
I really don't understand why people still think Bloodraven is the Three Eyed Crow. He's not. Bran is. Always was. To me, this isn't even really debatable.
I believe (and yeah, this is debatable.. but i REALLY think it's true) that greensight isn't even a power. It's just the state of having Bran send visions to you. That's it.
So what Daemon is going through.. what Alys sees.. what Helaena sees.. it's all just Bran (imperfectly) sending visions so he can manipulate the timeline.
Bran Stark is a MAJOR player in House of the Dragon.
The way I am over the vision like the first few visions were great It’s for the storyline, his character etc but now it’s like y’all dragging this too much and I’m getting bored, so lets wrap it up joe because at this point I’m tired, seeing paint dry isn’t as tiresome as this storyline
Bran was the night king. Three eyed raven warned him not to go deeper into past. He timed travel into past and his past was caught by children of the forest. And turned him into night king. To correct the alernate reality he (night king) came to kill bran so there would be only one of them. If that happened he would have make everyone dead and make night that would never end. Bran said the very same thing.

I'm curious if they will show millesandra this season. She should be at least 100 years old in this episode. Could mysaria be her? Would make sense she would try to get close to the targaryens. Maybe it's her and she leaves to ashi after the dance of dragons.
i think daemon’s visions are actually about him questioning everything he’s done before. so in a way, showing him having sex with his mother is a portrayal of the most extreme and disgusting kind of incest, to show that he calls his attraction to incest (which has been shown time and time again) and sick and twisted relationships into question and to show how it all intertwines with his attraction to power and to the throne.
I never seen a movie or series that discuss how, and how long, they build medieval castles. They always seem to "just be there". Worn and old as it they've been there for hundreds of years. I've never seen a newly built castle, or at least parts of it, if it takes decades to build one.
