*The* *Queen* *Who* *Ever* *Was* The episode was only 109 minutes when I thought it would be 113? They cut a scene from the leaked footage. It’s a scene of Alicent and Helaena escaping. They’re both sitting inside a carriage. The part when Alicent secretly sees Rhaenyra made zero sense. She’s practically committing treason. Told Rhaenyra everything including an injured Aegon. Only five episodes earlier, Alicent told Rhaenyra it was too late. Was cutting that scene a way to have Alicent and Helaena remain at King’s Landing after it’s seized by Team Black? Scenes with Rhaenyra and Alicent were only created for Emma and Olivia to shoot scenes together. You can tell it’s a retelling of GRRM’s story. The other extremely divisive scene and perhaps the most divisive scene happens to be Daemon’s vision. Unlike Preston from RedTeamReview, I don’t have an issue that fate determines a character although Daemon loses this option. He said winter is coming in High Valyrian and it was cringe. My biggest problem was what Southern Mother of Dragons and Red said. Why lean on the previous show and White Walkers? Can’t House of the Dragon be carried by their own characters and not the backs of Daenerys and the White Walkers? It was great to see a book accurate Brynden Rivers / Bloodraven this time unlike having Max von Sydow (RIP). Joshua Ben-Tovim have eyes that beam like Cillian Murphy. The Night King did look awful like it was a cheap mask. Freeze frame it and it looks awful. Seeing the back of Dany’s naked body looked like cheap CGI/AI crap too. I had no problem with Daemon finally pledging his allegiance to Rhaenyra but that’s always been the case. His visions will probably have a pay off later on as Alys Rivers did tell Daemon he has gained abilities of a greenseer since arriving at Harrenhal. I believe they’re leaning onto this angle after Daemon dies to explain where his body was all this time. Season 2 didn’t feel it improved any of the established characters with maybe the exception being Aegon and to a lesser degree, Mysaria. I didn’t get anything out of Daemon, Alicent, Corlys, Baela, and Rhaena. Rhaenyra and Rhaenys were fine but they were always that way from S1. None of the new characters like Ulf, Hugh, Alys, and Jeyne stood out. I voted on a poll on The Plot Twist asking who is my favorite character between Rhaenyra, Daemon, Aegon, and Aemond? I was a surprised Daemon won from 24K votes at 59%. Rhaenyra is at 28%, Aemond is at 10%, and Aegon is 3%. When I voted for him, it still had 10K votes and he was at 57%. Aemond and Aegon dropped 1% each since then for Daemon to gain that 2%. It’s obvious at least 90% of viewers are Team Black. Rhaenyra was beating Aegon 93% to 7% in another poll. After S2 wasted Daemon, fans still love the D-man? I’m starting to question if he remains my favorite character as we didn’t the greatness coming from Daemon because the writers wants to keep humiliating him because he’s no Paul Rudd. While I didn’t enjoy every moment of Daemon from S1, he was a lot better in that first season than this one. Let’s say Bloodraven or Breakspear becomes my all-time favorite. HBO will find a way to ruin them. They always do. Their only clear improvement was with Viserys. Matt Smith could easily carry this show. Daemon has enough charisma to pull it off. But the writers wants us to hate on everyone in the show not named Rhaenyra or Rhaenys. They’re the perfect ones while everyone else is flawed. I know the Dance should center on Rhaenyra because this is her story but the writers are extremely biased towards her and only her. I feel she will get whitewashed at the end. Overall, I will give this season only a B-. I think it’s about as good as The Boys S4. Maybe I should give both a C+ instead? Half the season was good to great, and then the other half made some questionable creative decisions…. Good to great: Ep. 1, 2, 4, 7 Bad to questionable: Ep. 3, 5, 6, 8? Perhaps the strikes and WB only ordering for 8 episodes affected S2 to become worse. We should’ve ended S2 during the Battle of Gullet. So Episode 8 felt like a trailer to Season 3 or to an Episode 9 and 10 we should’ve got. If we had gotten 10 episodes, it would’ve finished with Gullet. Felt like Season 2 got limited by the budget and number of episodes. It was great to finally see Bloodraven in a more book accurate form although he looks too pretty like he’s live action Sephiroth. That’s how we should imagine Daemon from the book but without the birthmarks. Handsome and extremely charismatic. But S2 made sure Alys Rivers and Oscar Tully kept humiliating him and turning him into another Bran the Broken. HOT D S2 Character Rankings 1. Rhaenys 2. Rhaenyra 3. Silverwing (more character than the rest) That’s it for me. The rest didn’t seem to matter. I know Alicent taking so many baths or dips in water is for her to cleanse the impurities she did with Criston but we didn’t need to see her keep taking baths. We saw Aegon for half the season and only saw Otto for two episodes. We saw Tessarion but not Daeron. We get Tyland (mistakenly called Tywin) getting into a mud fight with a transgender UA-camr who also appeared in The Acolyte. Sharako Lohar is supposed to be a male in the book. I guess he still is. Baela and Rhaena were wasted. Jace is always complaining. Got nothing out of the Jeyne Arryn scenes except her acting like a total bitch to Rhaena. Ulf went from fan favorite for people who never read the book into a moron after a couple of scenes in Ep. 8. I didn’t get much out of the Velaryons this season. It’s now official that I prefer Andor over House of the Dragon. I don’t have hopes from HBO doing this right. With Andor, while it doesn’t have enough lore building for Star Wars channels like Star Wars Meg and Generation Tech to talk about, it excels because Disney doesn’t meddle on what Tony Gilroy wants to do. I feel HBO is meddling too much on George’s work. It still hurts that we need to wait two more years for HOT D’s Season 3 which I expect to be a banger. I’m hoping HOT D does the opposite of Game of Thrones. GOT started great but ended poorly. HOT D starts off a bit too slow but ends amazingly. I expect S3 and S4 to be superior to S1 and S2. And we got A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next summer to hold us over like Gen V did last year for fans of The Boys. Only 6 episodes but better than nothing. I wouldn’t have my hopes up too high for Baelor Targaryen, aka Breakspear. He is my 3rd favorite all-time character behind the Rogue Prince and Bloodraven. But after what HBO has done to GRRM’s favorite Targaryen in Daemon, their own “interpretation” of Baelor could end up far worse. We just have to accept the fact that HBO will dramatically change things, for better or for worse. GOT/HOT D Season Rankings 1. GOT S4 2. GOT S6 3. GOT S3 4. GOT S1 5. HOT D S1 6. GOT S2 7. GOT S5 8. HOT D S2 ⬇️ 9. GOT S7 10. GOT S8 I know GOT S8 is hated. But Ep. 2 was fun and Ep. 3 was still more exciting than most episodes that HOT D had. Maybe I should have HOT D S2 below GOT S7? GOT S7 still gave us 7x4 The Spoils of War and Euron savagely killing the Sand Snakes in 7x2. And 7x6 Beyond the Wall wasn’t that bad. At least we got Tormund and The Hound in the same scenes. The Acolyte or Game of Thrones Season 8? I would still take GOT S8 but would turn it off after The Long Night. I don’t need to watch the next 3 episodes after that where Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet and Rhaegal easily got killed, Dany goes mad and burns KL, and Bran gets chosen to sit on the Iron Throne. Jon should actually be beheaded for killing Dany. Not get his old job back where the White Walkers are no longer a threat. Jon basically got a slap on the wrist. Jon got off better than getting detention. I didn’t hate House of the Dragon S2. Still had some amazing cinematography and production values. The best set designs and costume designs in the business. I was still entertained by a couple of episodes specifically Ep. 2 and 4, but I can’t call it a great season overall. I was a little disappointed with the pacing, character development, and a few creative but odd decisions. Some of the story arcs for these characters went nowhere. If S1 was an A- or B+, S2 is a B- or C+. A letdown like The Boys S4. Oh well, I’m still optimistic for Season 3. With no more actors and writers strikes to interrupt production, I fully expect S3 to be far superior to what we got from S2. Let’s hope for 10 episodes instead of a measly 8 and we get to see several battles in it. We just need to expect that HBO will never try to emulate what’s written in the book and accept these changes. See y’all again next year for the Dunk & Egg series. I like the shows’ treatment of Daemon’s character. His hallucinations/ visions explained his choice of supporting Rhaenyra and letting go of his ambition to be king. The transition from the earlier episodes where he wanted to be addressed as a king, to him hesitating the crown given by Viserys and eventually bending the knee to Rhaenyra is top notch character development IMO.
character development? he didn't really change from 0 mins till bending the knee. he may have bent the knee because her dragon was above him. he wasn't expecting her as he said. the 'turncoat' was amongst the crowd, so he had accepted him into his army. he is shown the future and perhaps that changes his heart. not really any development of any character going on in this show.
Is it? When they’re shooting the equivalent of 3 movies then editing them in just under 2 years. Thats not exactly unrealistic. Who told you otherwise? What other TV that uses this amount of CGI and VFX comes out yearly? Not talking about marvel pew pew powers, we are talking castles, dragons/monsters, ships on the ocean type stuff.
@@J_ads2000 Thats precisely the main problem. External studios (VFX, CGI, soundtrack) are doing less for more paid. You can literally have your serie done in 3 months, but studios bureaucratized their times and efforts...

Filler??? Dude We got blood and cheese, Rooks Rest, and the Sowing of the seeds. 3 major chapters in a small 8 episode season :/ plus a lot of plot/lore exploration
I get what you mean, we are so used to getting something dramatic near the end of each season but remember, this is a different story to game of thrones and it’s about to be a lot different to both season one and season 2 of house of the dragon. Think about Lord of the rings, we are about to get to Return of the King, big battles, lots of action, lots of drama. The finale was just getting us ready for tonnes of chaos that I believe will bloooow our minds!

I definitely see rhaenyra not being happy with rhaena AT ALL after she finds out that she abandoned them to get dragons especially after season 1’s ending when she lost her son so now making her more protective of the others. Daemon will then defend rhaena
I know this sounds crazy, but if they would have shown Ulf and Hugh "training" or even Rhaena mounting Sheepsteeler, the last episode would have been more satisfying. If we had gotten Rhaena having a close call being burned (which is what i was expecting) or bravely approaching Sheepsteeler instead of just running around bug eyed, which was terrible, imo The episode lacked dragon action. It was a good episode, just not a good finale Thank you Charlie 🙌

In the book they moved and hid the crowns gold just before Rhaenyra takes kings landing making her broke and abandon king's landing. One of the best strategies/practical jokes ever.

If they are gonna make another season and if you followed the books, you’d know that there will be more battles which means more money to spend..there for it is for budget purposes. Everything else you said was neither here nor there. So I’m not sure why that was a hard laugh for you.
As if we didn’t hate D&D enough Charlie, you had to mention they had unlimited money and episodes but “they” chose to end it. I hate them all over again 😂
He heard it correctly. Charlie stated that Dan and Dave were given unlimited budgets for GOT episodes but they chose to create fewer episodes. Unlike HOTD, producers were given a budget that was about 40 million less than last year’s, hence the need to cut two episodes.
I think season 2 was a 7/10 season and I don’t have an issue with the pacing. I see so many people complaining that nothing happened but when you go back to the best seasons of GoT the pacing was even slower than this. Plus I think almost all of us can agree that HotD has been a major improvement on what we saw in s7 & s8 GoT. Bring on s3!
Slow pacing works when there is a real finale with something big. The final episode felt like a mid-season episode. At least that is my complaint but all episodes as just episodes was good. But the finale as a finale for a season was really bad, imo.

Rhaena will have the nettles story with Daemon loving her (like his child not a lover) and then Rhaenyra will call her a Traitor because she left the kids to fend for themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have Rhaena help fight Aemond and then flee (with or without Daemon) after their dragons fall.

Daemon's electrifying speech to swear in his men to fight for Rhaenyra was the highlight of this otherwise underwhelming season finale. Daemon finally be Daemon again!
I don’t understand how they go from speed running the plot in the first season to dragging their feet through all of season 2. I’m so embarrassed that I told my friends this season was going to be great 😢
Read fire and blood and it makes sense. Season 2 was always going to be the hardest to write - they had a ton of backstory to tell. Rhaenyra is basically a non factor or character all of season 2 in the book.
I swear, when i saw deamon seeing Daenerys i literally had goosebump all over my body. And the music behind it was the same when Daenerys received eggs during her wedding. That was so so cool
The *Rhaena* thing is obnoxious as hell. The show writers kept trying to build some sort of anticipation around something we've known was gonna happen for 3 episodes already and nobody notices her total dereliction of duty toward her younger half-brothers, who she left completely unprotected with the staff. Honestly IDK how much Gurrm had to do with how this season ended but if I were an HBO exec I'd be thinking about canceling the series. Game of Thrones season 8 writing is not what I started watching House of the Dragon for at all.

I feel like they're forcing it. Forcing seasons when this story is pretty much told, at least with these characters. If they told us Aemon and Deamon would both die already, even showing glimpses in Deamon's case, why wait till season 4 to do it? 4 years to see what we already know. I'm already ready for the story to finish

Man people complaining about the finale but I thought it was fire. Alicent and Rhaenyra meeting was my highlight. I loved seeing Emma D’arcy sell how fed up Rhaenyra was with Alicent’s hypocrisy. Then Corlys getting clocked by Alyn for being a deadbeat(rightfully so) and Daemon properly accepting Rhaenyra as his queen and his destiny.
Something I haven't seen people talk about yet but might be a plausible theory is that Sunfyre is truly dead Like Aegon and Cole mention and that (Spoiler) the dragon he has later in the books when he takes DragonStone is actually the Cannibal which he ends up taming and using to then kill Grey Ghost, like the maesters surmised was the dragon to do the deed in the book. I feel that the cannibal being the evil/different/more aggressive dragon would maybe get tamed by Aegon who is now more torn apart and intense due to his wounds, maybe its just enough for cannibal to let himself be tamed. This would also pair well with the fact that Baela's Moondancer is killed in the books by sunfyre, but it would be difficult if sunfyre is so torn and damaged. It would make more sense if it was the Cannibal to do it. Just a theory but I think it is worth maybe mentioning.
@MADGUNSMONSTER Yes, there are 3-4 big events coming. I suspect they'll combine the first and second battle of Tumbleton to be more concise but that still leaves the HUGE battle of the Gullett to start season 3 with. The storming of the Dragonpit, and the battle over the God's Eye; which I think might be near the series end.
Do you think we will see more of Cregan Stark in season 3? I am not too hopeful they will give him much to do in season 4, and they might even cut down the Hour of the Wolf to only half an episode, but since they did film him marching with the greybeards (even tho they removed it later for whatever reason), it gives me hope we will see more with him in season 3. Maybe even some battles.

While I have enjoyed HOTD so far, my question is; if they only had enough funds for 8 episodes then why did they drag the story out so much, especially with all the time wasted on Harrenhal. Sure, those scenes with Daemon's visions paid off in the end with Bloodraven, Daenerys, the Long Night, etc, eventually solidifying his loyalty to Rhaenyra, but did it really have to go on for so long, especially when they were on a strict time limit?
Did anyone else catch how the ending of the episode, where Alicent looks into the horizon, very reminiscent to a Luke Skywalker looking into the horizon of Star Wars? Is it just me? I can't un-see it. 😅
GOT Fans: The earlier seasons were better where characters talked than the later seasons of just action scenes. HOTD Fans: Too much talking, too slow, nothing happens. More action in the next season please. 🙄😑
In early GOT we see the outcomes of the battles which caused plans to change, armies to move and new schemes to hatch. Here it feels like nothing actually matters because everyone just stays put

I don't care if there is a lot of action or not, the point is that nothing substantial is being done. Explain to me why Daemon, perhaps the most important character in the show had to spend the entire season watching illusions?
Waiting 2 years for season 2 and only getting 8 episodes. And now also waiting for 2 years for season 3 with also just 8 episodes makes me loose interest in House of the Dragon. So they will loose money and viewers it's not a good thing. I'm going to read the book and wait till all seasons are done. Maybe not... It depends. 😛
I rewatched the visions that Daemon had but it almost seems like Helaena is communicating with him. It’s like she smiles before the conversation starts with Aemond, like whew, he got the message. I don’t know, just curious about whether Helaena could possibly be tapped in to weirwood connection. Or could this be 3 eyed raven going back in time to talk to her and warn her and Daemon?
I'm not sure what this is going to say about me, that I came back to your video just to say this, but I'll say it anyway. I was trying to think of a good example of how HBO did us so dirty with House of the Dragon Season 2' finale, and I think I have the perfect one!! The way they concluded season two feels almost as though they concluded the Red Wedding episode (GoT S3 E9) just as Walder Frey is about to give his little speech, right before Robb Starks wife and child are stabbed and killed!!

I understand that this season was about the beginning of a medieval war but geez we really did only get 1 dragon fight n A LOT of filler but the filler was some of the best we've had in GOT in general
Hearing that some of this drama won't be settled until season 4, i.e. 4 years from now is so depressing. We have to wait longer for this series to unfold than we do for the next Olympics. Go HBO!
Why? That dragon is a weak dragon, fights only those that cant defend themselves like baby dragons, eats their corpses and dragon eggs and carcasess of big dragons who died of old age or are to ill to defend themselves.

Am one of those people who never watched Game of Thrones when it was being aired weekly, i watched it when all seasons were out. There are some lucky people who in 2026 will have the luxury of watching GOT, HOTD and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms while waiting for Aegon's Conquest which will be just around the corner..
Season 2 was a huge disappointment. No action besides the 1 dragon battle. Where is my down and gritty game of thrones deaths because this show seems to be missing them. And its major plot point to major plot point without character development.
At the very least they could have let her actually claim sheep stealer.. like every single clip of her in this episode could/should have been distilled down to a 45 second clip ending with her actually claiming sheep stealer
Did you happen to notice in the finale scene where Helena speaks to Daemon in his weirwood vision telling him he knows what part he is meant to play that, as the scene fades into Helena in realtime, standing on the balcony of the red keep, overlooking King's Landing, the first shot from of her is from behind. She is wearing the same outfit and her hair is styled the same way (which is long and loose, and very unlike her typical hair style which is usually braided and twisted -- even in the scene where Jaehrys is killed which shows her in her night gown). When the camera angel then shows the front of her, she has the same knowing look and expression of having just finished speaking as she did while speaking to Daemon in his vision. When you re-watch the both scenes, thr transition is seemless, as though Helena was*, in fact, standing out on the balcony telepathically communicating with Daemon in those exact moments before Aemond interrupts her. It reminded me so much of the scene in GOT when 3ER takes Bran back to the tower scene with young Ned and Bran calls out to his dad who suddenly stops and looks around like he heard him. Although I couldn't begin to even suggest how exactly they fit together since the show abandoned that entire ability, taken that story angle absolutely no where...but the potential to communicate through time and space via dragon dreaming or greenseeing...sort of reminded me of it

The more I think about season 2 the more I'm thinking wtf. I don't think its really acceptable for WB to say they need to budget cut for HoD, when they know that it would be one of the highest watched shows atm. So it feels just like a money grab from higher exc. for a end of year bonus. I enjoyed the season but it still doesn't meet early days of GoT writing; even though the episodes were considered *slow* they still had great story building and character development, which I just feel isn't present in HoD, its all about shock factor and cliff hangers. It feels like a bit of a rip off for what COULD be. And the fact that its going to take 2 years to do 8 episodes feels like a rip off, if it was 10-15 I'd understand, but it seems off to take that long. They're also getting more money per episode than any of GoT, HoD got US$200 million for the season 1. We don't see the dragons enough to blow out a budget like that, you can still make great tv with better writers.
I totally agree with you. I felt alot more engaged and excited to watch GoT compared to HotD. So many people with too little story. It gets very confusing and it seems like a much smaller world. It is King's Landing, Dragonstone and the docks. They didn't need many set changes so that couldn't have blown their budget.
I enjoyed Season 2. I watch this show for the dragons and season 2 gave me more dragons. The Battle at Rook’s Rest happened and the dragon claiming scenes so idk why a lot of people say “nothing happened this season” lol. I am however pretty salty that the finale left me with a serious case of blue balls.

*The* *Queen* *Who* *Ever* *Was*
The episode was only 109 minutes when I thought it would be 113? They cut a scene from the leaked footage. It’s a scene of Alicent and Helaena escaping. They’re both sitting inside a carriage. The part when Alicent secretly sees Rhaenyra made zero sense. She’s practically committing treason. Told Rhaenyra everything including an injured Aegon.
Only five episodes earlier, Alicent told Rhaenyra it was too late. Was cutting that scene a way to have Alicent and Helaena remain at King’s Landing after it’s seized by Team Black? Scenes with Rhaenyra and Alicent were only created for Emma and Olivia to shoot scenes together. You can tell it’s a retelling of GRRM’s story.
The other extremely divisive scene and perhaps the most divisive scene happens to be Daemon’s vision. Unlike Preston from RedTeamReview, I don’t have an issue that fate determines a character although Daemon loses this option. He said winter is coming in High Valyrian and it was cringe. My biggest problem was what Southern Mother of Dragons and Red said. Why lean on the previous show and White Walkers?
Can’t House of the Dragon be carried by their own characters and not the backs of Daenerys and the White Walkers? It was great to see a book accurate Brynden Rivers / Bloodraven this time unlike having Max von Sydow (RIP). Joshua Ben-Tovim have eyes that beam like Cillian Murphy. The Night King did look awful like it was a cheap mask. Freeze frame it and it looks awful. Seeing the back of Dany’s naked body looked like cheap CGI/AI crap too.
I had no problem with Daemon finally pledging his allegiance to Rhaenyra but that’s always been the case. His visions will probably have a pay off later on as Alys Rivers did tell Daemon he has gained abilities of a greenseer since arriving at Harrenhal. I believe they’re leaning onto this angle after Daemon dies to explain where his body was all this time.
Season 2 didn’t feel it improved any of the established characters with maybe the exception being Aegon and to a lesser degree, Mysaria. I didn’t get anything out of Daemon, Alicent, Corlys, Baela, and Rhaena. Rhaenyra and Rhaenys were fine but they were always that way from S1. None of the new characters like Ulf, Hugh, Alys, and Jeyne stood out.
I voted on a poll on The Plot Twist asking who is my favorite character between Rhaenyra, Daemon, Aegon, and Aemond? I was a surprised Daemon won from 24K votes at 59%. Rhaenyra is at 28%, Aemond is at 10%, and Aegon is 3%. When I voted for him, it still had 10K votes and he was at 57%. Aemond and Aegon dropped 1% each since then for Daemon to gain that 2%. It’s obvious at least 90% of viewers are Team Black. Rhaenyra was beating Aegon 93% to 7% in another poll.
After S2 wasted Daemon, fans still love the D-man? I’m starting to question if he remains my favorite character as we didn’t the greatness coming from Daemon because the writers wants to keep humiliating him because he’s no Paul Rudd. While I didn’t enjoy every moment of Daemon from S1, he was a lot better in that first season than this one. Let’s say Bloodraven or Breakspear becomes my all-time favorite. HBO will find a way to ruin them. They always do. Their only clear improvement was with Viserys.
Matt Smith could easily carry this show. Daemon has enough charisma to pull it off. But the writers wants us to hate on everyone in the show not named Rhaenyra or Rhaenys. They’re the perfect ones while everyone else is flawed. I know the Dance should center on Rhaenyra because this is her story but the writers are extremely biased towards her and only her. I feel she will get whitewashed at the end.
Overall, I will give this season only a B-. I think it’s about as good as The Boys S4. Maybe I should give both a C+ instead? Half the season was good to great, and then the other half made some questionable creative decisions….

Perhaps the strikes and WB only ordering for 8 episodes affected S2 to become worse. We should’ve ended S2 during the Battle of Gullet. So Episode 8 felt like a trailer to Season 3 or to an Episode 9 and 10 we should’ve got. If we had gotten 10 episodes, it would’ve finished with Gullet. Felt like Season 2 got limited by the budget and number of episodes.
It was great to finally see Bloodraven in a more book accurate form although he looks too pretty like he’s live action Sephiroth. That’s how we should imagine Daemon from the book but without the birthmarks. Handsome and extremely charismatic. But S2 made sure Alys Rivers and Oscar Tully kept humiliating him and turning him into another Bran the Broken.

That’s it for me. The rest didn’t seem to matter. I know Alicent taking so many baths or dips in water is for her to cleanse the impurities she did with Criston but we didn’t need to see her keep taking baths.
We saw Aegon for half the season and only saw Otto for two episodes. We saw Tessarion but not Daeron. We get Tyland (mistakenly called Tywin) getting into a mud fight with a transgender UA-camr who also appeared in The Acolyte. Sharako Lohar is supposed to be a male in the book. I guess he still is.
Baela and Rhaena were wasted. Jace is always complaining. Got nothing out of the Jeyne Arryn scenes except her acting like a total bitch to Rhaena. Ulf went from fan favorite for people who never read the book into a moron after a couple of scenes in Ep. 8. I didn’t get much out of the Velaryons this season.
It’s now official that I prefer Andor over House of the Dragon. I don’t have hopes from HBO doing this right. With Andor, while it doesn’t have enough lore building for Star Wars channels like Star Wars Meg and Generation Tech to talk about, it excels because Disney doesn’t meddle on what Tony Gilroy wants to do. I feel HBO is meddling too much on George’s work.
It still hurts that we need to wait two more years for HOT D’s Season 3 which I expect to be a banger. I’m hoping HOT D does the opposite of Game of Thrones. GOT started great but ended poorly. HOT D starts off a bit too slow but ends amazingly. I expect S3 and S4 to be superior to S1 and S2. And we got A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms next summer to hold us over like Gen V did last year for fans of The Boys. Only 6 episodes but better than nothing.
I wouldn’t have my hopes up too high for Baelor Targaryen, aka Breakspear. He is my 3rd favorite all-time character behind the Rogue Prince and Bloodraven. But after what HBO has done to GRRM’s favorite Targaryen in Daemon, their own “interpretation” of Baelor could end up far worse. We just have to accept the fact that HBO will dramatically change things, for better or for worse.

I know GOT S8 is hated. But Ep. 2 was fun and Ep. 3 was still more exciting than most episodes that HOT D had. Maybe I should have HOT D S2 below GOT S7? GOT S7 still gave us 7x4 The Spoils of War and Euron savagely killing the Sand Snakes in 7x2. And 7x6 Beyond the Wall wasn’t that bad. At least we got Tormund and The Hound in the same scenes.
The Acolyte or Game of Thrones Season 8? I would still take GOT S8 but would turn it off after The Long Night. I don’t need to watch the next 3 episodes after that where Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet and Rhaegal easily got killed, Dany goes mad and burns KL, and Bran gets chosen to sit on the Iron Throne. Jon should actually be beheaded for killing Dany. Not get his old job back where the White Walkers are no longer a threat. Jon basically got a slap on the wrist. Jon got off better than getting detention.
I didn’t hate House of the Dragon S2. Still had some amazing cinematography and production values. The best set designs and costume designs in the business. I was still entertained by a couple of episodes specifically Ep. 2 and 4, but I can’t call it a great season overall. I was a little disappointed with the pacing, character development, and a few creative but odd decisions. Some of the story arcs for these characters went nowhere. If S1 was an A- or B+, S2 is a B- or C+. A letdown like The Boys S4.
Oh well, I’m still optimistic for Season 3. With no more actors and writers strikes to interrupt production, I fully expect S3 to be far superior to what we got from S2. Let’s hope for 10 episodes instead of a measly 8 and we get to see several battles in it. We just need to expect that HBO will never try to emulate what’s written in the book and accept these changes. See y’all again next year for the Dunk & Egg series. It’s coming in the same month as Andor S2. ThroneVerse/ASOIAF is still a great lore to be part of!

I like the shows’ treatment of Daemon’s character. His hallucinations/ visions explained his choice of supporting Rhaenyra and letting go of his ambition to be king.
The transition from the earlier episodes where he wanted to be addressed as a king, to him hesitating the crown given by Viserys and eventually bending the knee to Rhaenyra is top notch character development IMO.

character development? he didn't really change from 0 mins till bending the knee. he may have bent the knee because her dragon was above him. he wasn't expecting her as he said. the 'turncoat' was amongst the crowd, so he had accepted him into his army. he is shown the future and perhaps that changes his heart. not really any development of any character going on in this show.

I get what you mean, we are so used to getting something dramatic near the end of each season but remember, this is a different story to game of thrones and it’s about to be a lot different to both season one and season 2 of house of the dragon. Think about Lord of the rings, we are about to get to Return of the King, big battles, lots of action, lots of drama. The finale was just getting us ready for tonnes of chaos that I believe will bloooow our minds!

I know this sounds crazy, but if they would have shown Ulf and Hugh "training" or even Rhaena mounting Sheepsteeler, the last episode would have been more satisfying.
If we had gotten Rhaena having a close call being burned (which is what i was expecting) or bravely approaching Sheepsteeler instead of just running around bug eyed, which was terrible, imo

In the book they moved and hid the crowns gold just before Rhaenyra takes kings landing making her broke and abandon king's landing. One of the best strategies/practical jokes ever.

He heard it correctly. Charlie stated that Dan and Dave were given unlimited budgets for GOT episodes but they chose to create fewer episodes. Unlike HOTD, producers were given a budget that was about 40 million less than last year’s, hence the need to cut two episodes.

I think season 2 was a 7/10 season and I don’t have an issue with the pacing. I see so many people complaining that nothing happened but when you go back to the best seasons of GoT the pacing was even slower than this. Plus I think almost all of us can agree that HotD has been a major improvement on what we saw in s7 & s8 GoT. Bring on s3!

Slow pacing works when there is a real finale with something big. The final episode felt like a mid-season episode. At least that is my complaint but all episodes as just episodes was good. But the finale as a finale for a season was really bad, imo.

Rhaena will have the nettles story with Daemon loving her (like his child not a lover) and then Rhaenyra will call her a Traitor because she left the kids to fend for themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have Rhaena help fight Aemond and then flee (with or without Daemon) after their dragons fall.

Read fire and blood and it makes sense. Season 2 was always going to be the hardest to write - they had a ton of backstory to tell. Rhaenyra is basically a non factor or character all of season 2 in the book.

The *Rhaena* thing is obnoxious as hell. The show writers kept trying to build some sort of anticipation around something we've known was gonna happen for 3 episodes already and nobody notices her total dereliction of duty toward her younger half-brothers, who she left completely unprotected with the staff.
Honestly IDK how much Gurrm had to do with how this season ended but if I were an HBO exec I'd be thinking about canceling the series. Game of Thrones season 8 writing is not what I started watching House of the Dragon for at all.

I feel like they're forcing it. Forcing seasons when this story is pretty much told, at least with these characters. If they told us Aemon and Deamon would both die already, even showing glimpses in Deamon's case, why wait till season 4 to do it? 4 years to see what we already know. Man people complaining about the finale but I thought it was fire. Alicent and Rhaenyra meeting was my highlight. I loved seeing Emma D’arcy sell how fed up Rhaenyra was with Alicent’s hypocrisy. Then Corlys getting clocked by Alyn for being a deadbeat(rightfully so) and Daemon properly accepting Rhaenyra as his queen and his destiny.
Something I haven't seen people talk about yet but might be a plausible theory is that Sunfyre is truly dead Like Aegon and Cole mention and that (Spoiler) the dragon he has later in the books when he takes DragonStone is actually the Cannibal which he ends up taming and using to then kill Grey Ghost, like the maesters surmised was the dragon to do the deed in the book. I feel that the cannibal being the evil/different/more aggressive dragon would maybe get tamed by Aegon who is now more torn apart and intense due to his wounds, maybe its just enough for cannibal to let himself be tamed. This would also pair well with the fact that Baela's Moondancer is killed in the books by sunfyre, but it would be difficult if sunfyre is so torn and damaged. It would make more sense if it was the Cannibal to do it. Just a theory but I think it is worth maybe mentioning.

I suspect they'll combine the first and second battle of Tumbleton to be more concise but that still leaves the HUGE battle of the Gullett to start season 3 with. The storming of the Dragonpit, and the battle over the God's Eye; which I think might be near the series end.

Do you think we will see more of Cregan Stark in season 3? I am not too hopeful they will give him much to do in season 4, and they might even cut down the Hour of the Wolf to only half an episode, but since they did film him marching with the greybeards (even tho they removed it later for whatever reason), it gives me hope we will see more with him in season 3. Maybe even some battles.

While I have enjoyed HOTD so far, my question is; if they only had enough funds for 8 episodes then why did they drag the story out so much, especially with all the time wasted on Harrenhal. Sure, those scenes with Daemon's visions paid off in the end with Bloodraven, Daenerys, the Long Night, etc, eventually solidifying his loyalty to Rhaenyra, but did it really have to go on for so long, especially when they were on a strict time limit?
Did anyone else catch how the ending of the episode, where Alicent looks into the horizon, very reminiscent to a Luke Skywalker looking into the horizon of Star Wars? Is it just me? I can't un-see it. 😅

What about Aegon’s dragon Sunfyre ? He says my dragon is dead. But Sunfyre has an important task in the books later on in the timeline
He will most likely appear as a surprise. He thinks the dragon is dead but he really isnt.

In early GOT we see the outcomes of the battles which caused plans to change, armies to move and new schemes to hatch. Here it feels like nothing actually matters because everyone just stays put

I don't care if there is a lot of action or not, the point is that nothing substantial is being done. Explain to me why Daemon, perhaps the most important character in the show had to spend the entire season watching illusions?

Waiting 2 years for season 2 and only getting 8 episodes. And now also waiting for 2 years for season 3 with also just 8 episodes makes me loose interest in House of the Dragon. So they will loose money and viewers it's not a good thing.
I'm going to read the book and wait till all seasons are done. Maybe not... It depends. 😛

I rewatched the visions that Daemon had but it almost seems like Helaena is communicating with him. It’s like she smiles before the conversation starts with Aemond, like whew, he got the message. I don’t know, just curious about whether Helaena could possibly be tapped in to weirwood connection. Or could this be 3 eyed raven going back in time to talk to her and warn her and Daemon?

I'm not sure what this is going to say about me, that I came back to your video just to say this, but I'll say it anyway. I was trying to think of a good example of how HBO did us so dirty with House of the Dragon Season 2' finale, and I think I have the perfect one!! The way they concluded season two feels almost as though they concluded the Red Wedding episode (GoT S3 E9) just as Walder Frey is about to give his little speech, right before Robb Starks wife and child are stabbed and killed!!

I understand that this season was about the beginning of a medieval war but geez we really did only get 1 dragon fight n A LOT of filler but the filler was some of the best we've had in GOT in general
Hearing that some of this drama won't be settled until season 4, i.e. 4 years from now is so depressing. We have to wait longer for this series to unfold than we do for the next Olympics. Go HBO!

Am one of those people who never watched Game of Thrones when it was being aired weekly, i watched it when all seasons were out.
There are some lucky people who in 2026 will have the luxury of watching GOT, HOTD and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms while waiting for Aegon's Conquest which will be just around the corner..
Season 2 was a huge disappointment. No action besides the 1 dragon battle. Where is my down and gritty game of thrones deaths because this show seems to be missing them. And its major plot point to major plot point without character development.
At the very least they could have let her actually claim sheep stealer.. like every single clip of her in this episode could/should have been distilled down to a 45 second clip ending with her actually claiming sheep stealer

They’ve already foreshadowed a lot of the book events on the GoT series though.
Did you happen to notice in the finale scene where Helena speaks to Daemon in his weirwood vision telling him he knows what part he is meant to play that, as the scene fades into Helena in realtime, standing on the balcony of the red keep, overlooking King's Landing, the first shot from of her is from behind. She is wearing the same outfit and her hair is styled the same way (which is long and loose, and very unlike her typical hair style which is usually braided and twisted -- even in the scene where Jaehrys is killed which shows her in her night gown). When the camera angel then shows the front of her, she has the same knowing look and expression of having just finished speaking as she did while speaking to Daemon in his vision. When you re-watch the both scenes, thr transition is seemless, as though Helena was*, in fact, standing out on the balcony telepathically communicating with Daemon in those exact moments before Aemond interrupts her.
It reminded me so much of the scene in GOT when 3ER takes Bran back to the tower scene with young Ned and Bran calls out to his dad who suddenly stops and looks around like he heard him. Although I couldn't begin to even suggest how exactly they fit together since the show abandoned that entire ability, taken that story angle absolutely no where...but the potential to communicate through time and space via dragon dreaming or greenseeing...sort of reminded me of it
Season 3 we better get 20 deaths per episode blood bath showing temporary extinction of dragons and multiple daemon battles.

The more I think about season 2 the more I'm thinking wtf.
I don't think its really acceptable for WB to say they need to budget cut for HoD, when they know that it would be one of the highest watched shows atm. So it feels just like a money grab from higher exc. for a end of year bonus.
I enjoyed the season but it still doesn't meet early days of GoT writing; even though the episodes were considered *slow* they still had great story building and character development, which I just feel isn't present in HoD, its all about shock factor and cliff hangers.
It feels like a bit of a rip off for what COULD be.
And the fact that its going to take 2 years to do 8 episodes feels like a rip off, if it was 10-15 I'd understand, but it seems off to take that long.
They're also getting more money per episode than any of GoT, HoD got US$200 million for the season 1.
We don't see the dragons enough to blow out a budget like that, you can still make great tv with better writers.
I totally agree with you. I felt alot more engaged and excited to watch GoT compared to HotD. So many people with too little story. It gets very confusing and it seems like a much smaller world. It is King's Landing, Dragonstone and the docks. They didn't need many set changes so that couldn't have blown their budget.

I enjoyed Season 2. I watch this show for the dragons and season 2 gave me more dragons. The Battle at Rook’s Rest happened and the dragon claiming scenes so idk why a lot of people say “nothing happened this season” lol.
I am however pretty salty that the finale left me with a serious case of blue balls.

There must of been some budget constraints this season that made them push the gullet / taking of kings landing to next season.
I literally keep forgetting that Baela and Rhaena are Daemon's children because they barely interact or reference it.
It doesn't matter how many prop video you do, the season was a joke
